Classic Mini Cooper Review - Good Things, Small Packages

- The original Mini Cooper is a humble little sprite of a car, yet it's cherished worldwide by people of all ages. Kelvin's 1971 UK Mini is a spotless and charming restomod, while Mario's 1968 Canadian model is built to tackle the twisties. These two friends have modified their Minis to suit their individual styles, but they certainly share one thing in common: their appreciation for the enduring legacy of the most recognizable British car of all time.

If you want to see how quick and how well they handle, look at Mini racing in the 1960 s in England ,this was when it was open to any class Ford Galaxie vs Mini amazing.
Like this format with the owner talking about his or her car for the intro then your driving impressions with the owner in the passenger seat. Great videos keep them fun & interesting 👍
Awesome video and awesome cars. Can't wait to go back home and drive my Mini again 🚗
Going from a 3600lbs mid 2000s turbo 6 sedan to a 2700lbs modern hot hatch recently, I can definitely appreciate the whole "add lightness" thing now. I still can't fathom how nimble a 1500lbs road car would feel like. Sounds like a lot of fun even at that low weight. I think the ~120BHP mark would be ideal because that's around what the 60's Group 2 Touring Cars made. Those were down to 1350lbs though, not entirely sure how they pulled 150lbs out of a Mini but they managed it somehow. xD I can already tell in my car there is a larger difference than before when you get a passenger in it, I bet a passenger would make a huge dent in that power to weight figure and how peppy a car feels.
Earlier this year I sold my '08 EVO X to fund my Mini project. I've always loved the history of the cars and I am a huge fan of power to weight. At first I was nervous about going from an 2008 vehicle to one made in 1970, but now that I have it, I have absolutely no regrets. The mini isn't as fast as the EVO but it is such a drivers car. Like it was said in the video, the car has no assists. There's no ABS or power steering. It's just a nimble car that relies on a good driver. It's by far the most fun thing I've ever owned or driven.
Really enjoyed this! Fun to see people pushing these old cars as opposed to just looking at them
I like the extra lights on the front. I used to learn to drive on my father’s ‘77 Rover Mini 1.1 special with the small wheels on it. Have sweet memories with this car but sadly i’m too high and car is so small. One time my foot has stucked between the gas and break pedal and almost crashed the car. So it’s dangerous if you are 6” high, but it’s a very cool and surprisingly rapid car. Fun to drive!
This is some quality content without the unnecessary click bait! :)
Great video! I loved the second mini, same color as my 05 r53! I need to take a road trip up to Cali!
Looking on Hemmings, BaT etc, Good LHD Classic Minis fetch good money. I was brought up with these in the UK, like driving a go kart, just great fun at slow speeds.
These cars are so much fun to drive.
LIKE! The thing you most need to appreciate about these cars is the handling in corners though. Foot down and power right through a curve - never take your foot off the gas!!! A good driver will keep a Porsche 911 at bay easily - which is really, REALLY satisfying - seriously.
PS I like your driving style and road positioning; speed is fine if you know your car and don't put anyone else in danger.
super guys made good nice
Nice video! perfect timing on youtubes part, I'm going to buy a mini in a few hours !
+Lowie Vanderheeren Thanks! Enjoy your mini!
thanks! got a long restoration ahead tho :-)
mini... best car ever... love my 65 rhd cooper s
Those plates are from New Zealand. Except LW would not have been issued in 1971. Must have been replayed later in the 80's.
I used to thrash the absolute shit out of mine.
Then Jill Smith came along in her Vauxhall Corsa.
*CRASH!*
Cool owner telling u to push it
Aaron Li he was talking about the horn
The first owner Kelvin was telling me to push the horn, the second owner Mario was telling me to push the car!
Lol. That was so funny to see. Love their passion for the cars. The cars do seem to handle like a go cart. Great job and a fun review!
Where is this place?? California?
Bmw guy . And love the baby bmws haha minis are great little cars 👍🏾 respect my guy. Classic
So cool
The plate is a nz mini plate. Plate still registered here to 71 mini
hi, is this in California? the place is nice. i thought it was somewhere in Julian mountains...in California
Car plate is a new zealand plate
PLEASE tell the owner to remove the copper S emblems. IT is not an S. It is like putting supercharged on the side of your car...... But it does not have one. nice car though, just my two cents from the owner of a real "71 copper S owner.
Whats up with the New Zealand Number plate? was this mini imported from there?
It was! Originally a UK car that was imported to NZ before it finally came to the US.
Zygrene interestingly all New Zealand minis where built in NZ until 1981. So it would’ve been made in Nz then imported to USA
That is not a '68
why
Break earlier? Mini? No.
Not all minis are coopers
Ex Kiwi car - that's where they have all gone.
guys why does it not have twin fuel tanks, also seriously put disc brakes.
“The car was designed for A family of 4 to go on vacations”?!!? It was designed as an affordable car for anyone and it is small to get around and park in tight spaces
CAMMO but its underpowered
Tony Pineda it's not underpowered you don't need power in a mini you have fun just driving it not going fast, plus before it came out in late 1959 it was deemed too fast so they reduced the engine size from 998cc to 850cc
California
