  • All you guitar players, get ready to change your underwear. This is the titties right here. The cameraman is literally standing on the front row as Darrel decapitates the entire audience. This is not only a shred-fest of a song (please listen to the studio version too), but you can watch his fingers hitting so many notes. It reminds me of the first time I got to see them live - December 28, 1990 at a small club in Metairie called Guitar Alley. The opening band was the Slugs, who went on to become Crowbar. When Pantera walked out and started "Domination", it was like a controlled explosion - with vanilla-flavored fog choking off your air. I had never experienced a band that tight, and I had already seen Metallica and Megadeth at that point. But I positioned myself there in front of Darrell. He was literally no more than 2 feet from me. His fucking hair was almost hitting me for God's sake. It was - I just don't have the words, dude. I finally grew a pair and jumped onstage for "Primal Concrete Sledge", banging my head next to Darrell and then jumping off before security could grab me. But it was the olden days - Phil invited people onstage so it was beyond crazy from start to finish. There actually is a video of that show out there, but only two tracks (Domination and Psycho Holiday, I think) the rest got trashed during Katrina. The guy's name was Thunder Tyrant who videoed it . . I will be posting more soon

I wonder if any other band would cover this song for an album as a song in the album.

You must be a new fan who is also very young. Pantera aggressively hid those albums for YEARS! There are even interviews from headbangers ball where Phil is asked during the CFH era if the band will ever do updated versions of Power Metal songs, and he’s like “Nooooooo!”. The Pantera website back, when they were still together before the break up made no mention of those albums. It always said the CFH was their first album. They used get a lot of crap about the glam years back in the 90s. After Dimes death is when they started opening up because it couldn’t be hidden anymore with the major development of the internet, UA-cam and the behind the music documentary. So yeah, they were ashamed of their past, so they lied and hid it for years. I’m 40 years old man…all this crazy stuff was going on in my teen years so I remember very vividly/clearly what went down.

So true and as a guitar player myself, that song is an intense workout of your abilities. Most players (like myself) can't play it. And to think how effortlessly he did it while banging his head - never making a mistake - and just being a metal god onstage . . he was one of a kind, man

Man, it was 1988 and I was at LSU. Got a cassette of "Power Metal", fell in love with these guys, and one day someone told me they had a bootleg VHS of a couple of shows. I asked if I could borrow it and check it out, and for the life of me, I cannot remember who it was . . They never asked for it back, I know that much! I would have at LEAST made a copy of it for myself to keep, obviously it was fucking AWESOME - especially at that time. But the reason I know it is the original copy is the handwritten stuff on the tape itself. Not my handwriting by a long shot. Almost looks like a girl wrote the locations and band name. But I always wanted to put this out there and I finally learned how to do UA-cam stuff and got some cool software, it was time . . . glad everyone is enjoying it. Yes more to come and also for anyone into Acid Bath, I myself filmed a show of theirs and want to upload it soon too. The sound quality on it is much better than this one

I really don't think they were. They acknowledged it but just moved on from it. There's an interview out there on YT with Dime and Vinnie at Dimes house and they ask them about this era. They didn't seem embarrassed by it at all. Even Dime said, "Man I wouldn't trade my gold spandex for nothing!"
