    Watching bands that were my idols in the 90's, like AIC and Pantera and Soundgarden, play live in the mid to late 80's is often a bit of a congnitive dissonance wow moment. Seeing their performances back then and how it helped shaped their sound in the 90's is an awesome thing to see.

    Still mesmerizing, his speed and accuracy. I'm from that "Rhoads/Van Halen/Lynch"-school of playing, with 70s Rock guitar bands as a base. First time I heard Dimebag play on 'Cowboys'-album, I knew he was positioned to take all of it further.

    • @merrin7117
      @merrin7117 8 місяців тому +1

      I'm from that old school too. EvH, Rhoads, Lynch, Tracii Guns, Slash, Marty Friedman, Dimebag, Paul Gilbert, Warren DiMartini

    • @VideosVarious2
      @VideosVarious2 8 місяців тому +1

      @Apocalypse2031 It's the 'way' he used "known" techniques. And like Edward and Randy before him, he did discover and shape a guitar tone that no one else had. You'll probably argue that Hetfield already had done it, but Dime's tone 'was' different. And Hetfield took things he learned from Mustaine, when Mustaine was in Metallica in the early days. Everyone learns/borrows from everyone. That's how it is.

    • @VideosVarious2
      @VideosVarious2 8 місяців тому +1

      @Apocalypse2031 Well why don't you go ask 100 other guitar players, then. I was 'there' during the 1980s & 1990s. Dime 'did' have a unique tone.

    Miss those Abbott brothers man. Can you imagine the videos Dime would be putting out in 2024 on UA-cam and social media. Pantera was the original jackass videos. Plus all the lessons he'd give us . Dime was always so generous with his licks and tricks . He really wanted people to learn his stuff and most of those guys in those days weren't like that. One of a kind . He did not deserve to go out like he did . Still pissed about that one. Dime loved his fans and always showed it. Rest in power Abbott brothers.

Sounds like they use the same plugins as far as tones. Plus the song writing Is unimaginative. I wish people would take more of a chance these days.
