on the sending unit put the gasket on the rim of the hole and slide unit in with it installed. I went through what you did a bunch of times before trying it that way. slides right in.

How do you know if you need a high pressure fuel pump replaced or the actual fuel pump? I have a 2011 mini cooper base and it is showing POOO1 as error code...
Replaced fuel pump and fuel filter still not starting and my oring is good it's just not starting at all
Silicone sealant is not compatible with fuel, so this will not be a permanent fix sadly. Try ThreeBond motorcycle crankcase sealant as it is fuel compatible once cured.

I wouldn't have thought to look in the inlet there. I probably would have been just went straight out and bought a new one.

So previous to this, the starter turned for longer before the engine started? Having this same problem. Takes a full 5 seconds of starter for the engine to start.
For me it was damage to the fuel b/c of the accident
LunarOutlaw’s Garage thanks for replying. Will be doing a vacuum leak test next to maybe solve my issue. Changed fuel pump recently too, thinking it would solve the problem. It didnt but it is so much quieter than before and stutters less at idle than it did before

What's wrong with Harbor Freight o-rings? Wouldn't that have been a safer solution
It was a plastic pice that is a direct fit. That gasket maker is the same material as O-rings, silicone so should have just about the same properties. Not 100% but pretty close
