I think you forgot the filler siphone hose that simple clips into the top of the pump assembly...atleast mine had that I had to reinstall I seen yours wasn't on as you rotated the pump so it had to have come off while turning it , I highly suggest putting that hose back in or fuel starvation issue may happen
Last step before turning the car on, you need to remove the fuse for the fuel pump and crank the engine, this will allow you to prime( fill the pump with gas) the pump before turning it on, once you have primed it (which usually take around 2 to 3 attempts to starts with a 2 second hold on the ignition key) you can put back the fuel pump fuse and turn it on.
Genuinely curious. I do this without pulling any fuses. Why pull the fuse (I'm guessing you mean the fuel pump fuse, won't that keep the pump from running)?
Love your video, I definitely think I might try this, but I have a question for you. Is it okey to rub Vaseline on the oring for Longevity And how do you feel about zip-ties holding the loose wires together, so they don't get pinched? I did that with my nissan and it's been running great, I hear using aftermarket fuel pumps will stop working in 6 months because of the cheep Wires getting pinched because they're not secured to the pump very well. 8:36
fuel pump just went out on 2011 cooper S yesterday, died at a stoplight as well, how do you know if you need to replace the HPFP or just the internal fuel pump
What code was this reading. Mine is currently saying it’s a p2096 code O2 sensor. I ended up changing it and the CEL came right back on. Just recently mine did the same exact thing. I was in traffic and it just shut off on me. It started right back up but it ended up doing it again a few days ago. So whatever the case may be I’m assuming it’s going bad whatever it is.
Thanks! You mentioned the diagnostic, but i did not see it in the video. My 2012 r60 countryman has the "fuel pump issue" light on.Do i need to do any complex pressure diagnostic? Could i replace the relay without replacing the pump? Or, can i just do this simple replacement and skip the whole process?
1) check the fuse, 2) bench test the relay with a 12VDC source and a continuity tester, 3) check pin 2 and 5 (the two center pins) on the fuel pump wire harness connector to see if you briefly get 12V when you turn the key to the 1 position. If you do 3 first, it actually eliminates 1 and 2, it's just not as easy to get to as the fuse and relay in the driver's side foot well.
Hello, I have a 2007 mini cooper s. And every morning I turn it on and it takes a while if it starts, but it turns off and I have to turn it on several times, until it turns on and when it's cold it makes me do the same thing again. Does anyone know why that is? Spark plugs and sensor hoses have already been changed
So my wife’s mini is starting to “hiccup” as she’s driving. Making the car kind of do a stutter while driving. Online it says to be the fuel pump. Do you know if this model that you’re looking at would also work on a 2013 mini Cooper countryman sport? Also is the fuel filter in the opposite seat? Thank you for posting
I am not sure where the fuel filter is located but the reason for a hiccup while driving could be a couple things. I would check the spark plugs and see if they are looking okay and if they check out good you can also do a fuel pressure test to see if the fuel pump is falling off that shows bad then replace the fuel pump.
ok so my car keeps leaving me stranded, just stops and wont start for 2 hrs and then starks back up like nothing is wrong. it happen mainly after i get gas and ideas as to why?
should have changed the fuel filter too. I believe you have to remove the pump again to change the gas filter, as the filter comes with 2 sealing rings.
This video is very informative BUT to anyone watching this I would advise you to be a lot more clean and neat than this guy. Contamination is real. Like how he drop the dirty bucket right on top the gas tank ugh.

I believe I attached mine but not all the way forward, might that be an issue later? Runs fine
Man you should've vacuumed out all that dirt and dust before opening, to keep from getting in tank.
Just came to comment the same thing 🤣
Not his car he doesn't care
That's what the fuel filter is for haha
I was just waiting for all that grit to fall into the tank. You know what they say "dirty car inside, dirty home inside".
Yes, great tuto, many thanks, I can see the potential traps, and will be ordering a new pump immediately!

It's electric
..doooh! Cranking only works on manual pumps ...remove the fuse the pump doesn't pump ...are ye a crispy critter or what
@@BobbyGrissom-ic1uthahaha indeed
Thanks a lot! You just saved me a lot of money as I was able to do it myself with help of your video! Greetings from Hungary! ✌️
Thanks for the video. 🤘🏻
Did you disconnect the battery before removing the electric wire?
How and what did you do to diagnose? Thanks for the lesson!
Seems simple enough, thanks for the video.
The fule filter on the right side is a different story😢
Hi, I mounted the pump but the car won't start, can you tell me if the other cap under the new pump also needed to be removed?

I know that you said many other models, I have a 2016, how do I know if mine is the same?

was the pump out of function or make it to low pressure? all my best from germany
Great video - well done
Super clear job! I Will be doing ir My self, justo one question, i have a 2012 cooper s Coupé ( the weird one) it should be the same right?
Thanks, great video!
Very helpful. Thank you.
Hi Daring, where are the petrol filter un this model?
Thanks.
Mini coopers are so cool! Great vid!
Cool until they break down every other week :(
What year is the mini cooper?
What is the part number for this fuel pump please it looks exactly like the one i need for mini cooper 2007 hatch back.
Is the pump same for non-s variant with N12 engine?
Muchas gracias amigo, fue de mucha ayuda, take brodher
Thanks for the great video. Where is the fuel pump relay located?
It should be in the passenger foot well fuse box
Thanks for video. I need to check the wiring attached to the plug on the top of fuel pump. Any idea where it routes?
It routes under the car and then pops back up behind the passenger side seat and follows the passenger side floor
@@daringmotors Thankyou sooo much. My car has been sitting on the driveway for 3 weeks now. I will get round to it very soon. Thanks again
Car still sitting there :(
I have no power to fuel pump under the rear seats.
Pump is fine its new
You forgot to clip in return hose to the fuel pump. And never use steel punch around gas only brass punch
Yeah, I noticed this too (forget to replace the return). This comment should be more visible.
Diesels have this pump?
🙏 thank you brother great job

@@daringmotors thank you for reply. I may take it to dealer and have them scan it. Thanks again.
Is that sensor in the tank ok to get gas on? Im changing mines tomorrow
Anything that is inside the tank is okay to get gas on.
@@daringmotors good to know! Thank you :-)

That's your fuel relay in the foot panel. You need to replace your entire FME unfortunately unless you are very good at electronics soldering.
Merci pour la vidéo, je comprenais pas comment l`anneau métallique maintient la pompe.
what about the return line
should have changed the fuel filter too. I believe you have to remove the pump again to change the gas filter, as the filter comes with 2 sealing rings.
The filter is under the rear seat on the passenger side.
Gracias me fue de mucha ayuda
This is giving me PTSD to changing my fuel filter.
You forgot to clip in the pickup for the right side of the tank. The car is going to run out of fuel half way
Big help!!!!
Hey where do you get your parts? You should hit them up for a channel sponsor!
I will have to do that! I usually go through rock auto or AutoZone
I would recommend the OEM part not some cheap made in China part.
Good idea
I just got quoted $1,098 to replace. Think I’ll give it a whirl
How did it go?
Good job
Thank you so much man, i thought i was f***ed!!
did you reconnect the second tube? i missed that one
that what i want to know cuz i dont know ehere to put mine back
@@djachelle0322 ok yes it snaps into a horizontal clip-like connection - kind of snaps in at the backside and goes to the open return behind the pump.
Bump
No he didn’t. I place mine into the clip.
You didnt put the fuel pick up line back in place. Lmao.
I noticed that too. It would be easier from inside the tank!
I changed my pump and still doesnt read fuel correctly
Just buy the tool if you start to damage
👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Seal is a nightmare

I thought the same.
Girlfriend quoted $1200 for this job. Are you kidding?!?!
Yeah you missed a hose
can't hear you
Not an "O" ring its a Rubber Gromet. Clean up area before working on it, very bad practice.
Whatabout the second recirulating hose ? You left if out... Is this ok?
