This! How often did i struggle after 1000+ Hours of tedious (actually fun) hard work of modelling the Basic Cube into another superior Basic Cube to fail the Topology and make modifiers unusable. Shame and never again will i get mentally challenged about basic stuff. Proud to be self taught and these Guys making free Content here on UA-cam are awesome.
Dude, amazing video! I personally appreciate very much the "why's" you would chose to use certain tools over others. And of course, your comedic time, is pitch perfect. You got yourself a new subscriber.
Man, this is the most underrated channel I’ve ever seen. This tutorial does a great job of explaining every step of your process while keeping my attention.
I'm currently around the half-way point in the video (its been an hour lol) but I've already watched the whole thing before. All I can say is amazing work!! I will definitely watch some of your other vids! 5:42 8:02
Hello in2vert! Thank you for this tutorial I learned a lot from it. I tried following it and it and my viking axe looks amazing! You have showed me new techniques that i never could think it would be a game changer. You definetly earned a sub!
You have 100% earned my sub here. such a nice flow and high quality video. Personally i really love the small quick asides to explain a concept like the circle analogy, dont see that on other channels.
The quality of your videos is amazing. Also the tutorials are easy to follow and you got me to try out Blender again. This channel will definitely blow up. Mark my words. Anyway, I'm subscribing now, so I can say I was here from the beginning. xD
i dont understand 10:00 because if you ad a multires modifier you still have all the verts when i did it it still had 2 milion verts on the object i was making
hi i had a question, at 7:32 my textures arent coming out smooth, like the are "exploding?" i tried to increase the subdivision but that didnt seem to work. also im having trouble getting dyntopo to increase the resolution on the handle
To avoid so many polygons, do I need to duplicate the high poly I create and use topology and then use the Shinkwarp modifier? That what you do in the video? Did you do this with the metal of the ax too?
Well, first of all my Blender/PC was crashing constantly after starting to work with the multires modifier. And i have a 4070TI so not sure what happened there, maybe CPU couldn't handle it. Whenever i used inflate - crash. Took maybe 40 tries until i managed to do it. But also my model looked completely different (as in MUCH worse). I don't know why but none of the sculpted bits were sharp just all around a blobby mess. Maybe i missed stuff but this tutorial was pretty hard to follow overall.
damn bro that was intense! :D Very helpful but sometimes a little bit too fast for me. I had to replay many steps extremly often. Anyway its still a damn great tutorial!!! Thank you for that :-)
Sorry but when I tried to use the dyntopo on the handle, the vertices didn't increase and it turned all of the quads into tris (idk if thats normal). When i try to sculpt while dyntopo is on it is very blocky ??
Sir, can you give me the link of the table in the scene and from where you find this also how to get this type details on is this displacement or only normal bump sorry for my weak English ❤❤
hey im new to meodeling in blender and whenever i try to extrude the outline like you do in 3:40 to close the shape it will just extrude in random directions. do you use the extrued tool on the left or is there another way im not aware of? great video by the way!
Just press E to extrude. I think you are lacking blender fundamentals. I would advise you to come back to this tutorial, after you did my beginner course (just 45 minutes to learn everything). hey guys if your watching this i recommend you do your own thing instead of following the video other wise you wont learn. do things differently and after this video maybe make 2 more things with what u learned while its still fresh without checking back on the video
how on earth is he doing the quick fill with the initial topology in the circle? I can't see the shortcuts he's using. Alt-Numpad 1 and 2 doesn't do anything for me. HELP!
In this video the mask tools makes clean lines (and clean circles). But for me the edges are jagged, even though str. and hardness are at 1. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this?
Was here before you were cool ;) Just here to say you are indeed cool and your Tutorials are awesome. Keep going and great for intermediate Users like me, who know the Basics and some of Substance Painter/Design, Blender, Unity and the like. One Question: What do you think about ZBrush for Sculpting? I never got my feet wet with Blender Sculpting after some basic Stuff (Made a Dog aka Creature of Doom) but you make it look so easy for detailing that i think i should invest some serious time into it. PS: I like the addlibs (hammering the stuff into my brain) and the short tutorials. PPS: Masks while sculpting are Killer Feature. Will add it to my workflow after getting confident with sculpting. You never stated this was a video for beginners, but I have to say it wasn't very beginner friendly. You left out quite a bit of important steps and had me confused about when you skipped some parts where suddenly you're model is edit mode sort of resembles what your sculpt looks like, making me believe you have already applied the multiplier? When I'm in edit mode, im completely back to the blockout handle, because the modifier is still not applied.
I told seconds before, that I retopologized the model in order to sculpt more details. Retopology is a very boring process, which I do not show often in my videos, since it is just something that has to be done.
I has been 1 hour since i started following along with this video, I am at 38 seconds. all the unmentioned shortcuts is murder. P.S I have 0 Experience in any this type of software
Is there no other method to fill out a shape ? Its extreme annoying to connect all these points by hand... Maybe I just not understand that part all...
yes there are automated ways, but they create bad topology most of the time which is not good to continue working with. You can e.g. just press F or Ctrl+E and select grid fill.
Because no matter how slow it is, you will have to press pause if you want to follow along. If you just want to watch for fun, than you will get bored if it is slower than that.
First of all, something really doesn't make sense in your video! When I delete the vertices of the plane, the plane is completely deleted and I can't add more vertices or extrude to make shapes, like you did. And in addition, you run your actions really, really fast with little explanation, and it is not clear what you click on or what you do to reach certain actions and the desired results. I wish you would work a little slower and take the time to explain what you are doing, even if it meant splitting the video into two parts - that would have been much more helpful.
The circle analogy for topology was great, thanks! I always found myself lost whenever working with complex shapes.

Because adding support loops looks better in most cases.

can we just add sharps by doing shift + e at the edges, or is the knife tool process superior?
You can, but it does not work great on all parts of a mesh, while cutting works always, but produces more vertices.

Can somebody please link me the wooden background image he is using at the end.

I did not retopolgize it, just removed unnecessary edges and thats it.
