Hi. First af all, thanks for your videos. They're amazing. I have a problem: just bought the .blend file on gumroad, but Blender crashes everytime I try to open it. I tried disabling the "Load UI", but it doesn't work. Tried on 2 different pc with 2 OS (Windows and Debian Linux), but nothing. It also crashes if I setup a new file and try to append something. Any suggestion?
hello. I am your fan living in Korea. I am learning Blender to work at a company and your lectures are very helpful. Your lecture is perfect, but I have one wish. It makes your keyboard buttons or mouse clicks appear on your screen. This requires a separate program and is very cumbersome, but it is a great help to a beginner like me. Lastly, I would like to express my endless gratitude for your videos and channel.
Thank you so much! These videos are just spectacular. I'm an architect / artist very immersed in classical architecture, and am creating a number of digital pieces in blender in classical architectural settings. Your videos have been an incredible help. I just started following you on Instagram.
every time i look at a model that looks insanely hard, and i see someone make it like this, it's just so eye opening. It's like magic how simple it can seem
This tutorial is amazing. I've been using Blender for longer than I'd like to admit, and I cannot BELIEVE that I never knew about the 'connected only' checkbox for proportional editing. If I was drinking coffee when you did that, I would have spat it out on my monitor and keyboard. Your channel is very underrated. You have a very mathematical approach to Blender and it works very well.
There's something so pleasing and satisfying and watching this being made I hope you make more I really find it so satisfying they're just such beautiful models
This is one of the best modeling tutorials out there and that includes paid courses. They way you tackle you to approach complex models like the leaves at 10:58 is so helpful
this is beautiful! i love the look of detailed classical architecture thats been rendered down to normal maps (seen in games like Dark Souls and such), but i never knew how to accomplish it. i half-wondered if they just painted the heightmaps, since the details seemed too smooth and complex to achieve. this answers my questions, and your process makes it so simple, reversible, and understandable!
i hated modelling but because of your arch vid and this one I am now better at modelling than all the over disciplines not good but I like it now its fun and I can make some pretty decent stuff
Incredible! This has helped me more than you could ever imagine. Your explanation and talking through how and why you do things is great. Keep up the good work and keep the great content flowing.
Hello! 🙂Yesterday I sent a comment with a question since I was stuck at 26:07, downscaling and repositioning of the first leaf. You probably didn't receive it for some reason. Anyway, I have solved the problem in the meantime - I had the pivot points on "multiple" instead of "median" for some reason 😅 So now I can move on. Thanks again for your fantastic tutorials and your excellent and very pedagogical explanations. 🙂
Great tutorial, very instructive that allows you to juggle with lots of possibilities offered by Blender and that I don't use too much. In the end, a superb professional Corinthian column. Thank you for this very clear and very well explained lesson.
TAHNK YOU SO MUCH for teaching us💎! and for doing it with such dedication and consideration for us who are interested in learning the fundamentals of classical architecture and blender ¡At the same time!.. You're the man, really talented man 🙌
Oh wow! That 'Connected only' in proportional edit mode tip is golden. I just would hide the other parts of the mesh to not be affected! Overlooked feature! Thanks! As others already mentioned: Your content is great stuff!
Thank you so much for being helpful to us i have one wish please make your keyboard shortcut to appear on your videos because sometimes its being very hard follow up for a beginner like me thank you sm
Thanks for the tutorial. I think something has changed in Blender as the brush selection for weight painting is not as it is in the video, with no option now to select a subtract brush. Instead, hitting D will switch the Direction from add to subtract.
Great tutorial. This is a perfect example of why you should try to use ND editing as much as possible. If you client has serious changes and this was all sculpted; this is absolutely the better way. IMO. You get a new subscriber!
When you are making the Acanthus Leaves, you make the first one and then when you copy them are you doing the copys as one object or do you copy each leaf in object mode as a separate object. GREAT tutorial by the way!!
Thanks to my art history course, I can say this a Corinthian column topper, because it has Acanthus leaves. The other types are Doric (squareish), and Ionic (Curved). How useful. lol
Did you consider entasis in your columns? Can you please share a tutorial on this one? Btw, your modeling is amazing. I'm into classical and baroque as well as gothic architecture.
I am loving your tutorial and I cannot wait to see more of your content. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me what I am doing wrong at 18:40. Whenever I extrude along the normals, i seem to be getting a shell-shape instead of having both faces closed. What is the issue?
Firstly I want to thank you for this tutorial. That said, i also would like to point something out: Between finishing the acanthus leaf and before lofting it around 8 instances you have a cut. Somewhere in between there must have been some adjustment that's missing. When I follow your tutorial 4 of the 8 leaves end up slightly crooked when rotating them around the column. The origins all match. My only fix for this was to apply all the shape keys and to apply all deformations, and then just distribute them old school, through duplication and rotating around column center. Still, Thank You for those brilliant tutorials!
Great video. The only minus is that the keystrokes are not enabled. They would make easier to understand and follow some operations that may not be as obvious as they are for experienced users. BUT the workflow and modeling is great :)
Hello. Great video. I don't know if that is your area of expertise at all, but i was wondering if you could maybe expand a little into the architecture side of things. Like why does this element looks this way? Why this specific shape? Why this specific proportion? And etc.
Really interesting approach. I assume you'll instance this detail and then adjust the shape keys slightly to create minor variations to create realistic imperfection.
This attempt is different than the previous one. In this one, we trace the outline of the leaf, effectively making a spoon-like cups. In the previous attempt, we traced the veins instead and folded them forward
Hi, great vid. May I ask how would you produce a lower poly version of this mesh? Ik one method but I'm curious if there are better options than I'm not aware of
Treasure FOUND! Please do more environment architecture stuff. If you could do a recreation of Elden Ring architecture style as well that would be awesome. Thanks for the video
Note for future generations I tried to be smart about it a reduce the topo on the leaves by hand before applying shape keys Couple of hours I’ll never get back and I still had to redo it all

@@hbitproject I'll write you (I just received the no-reply email from Gumroad and there's your address). Thks.

This is absolutely wonderful. I've been using Blender for nearly two years and every day I learn something new.
WTF??? The Shape Keys thing just blew my mind! Such a genius way to use it! It's like the 'Edit Poly' feature in 3ds Max! 🤯🤯🤯

I learned about it quite late too! Glad it helps 👍
My proportional editing works when I check the part of mesh otherwise it doesn't work.
I have no intention to do this in blender but it's a pleasure to watch your skills and excellent narration.
