Had these on my Tacoma. Loved the performance and had zero issues. That said, it was a bit of a rough ride. Not surprising though being a 10 ply with a pretty stiff side wall. I still recommend them. Fantastic in the snow. I personally didn't find them overly loud but thats subjective.
Great review: you answered a lot of the questions I have regarding this tire. Any insight on the durability of the sidewall? GY tires have been known to be susceptible to easily damaged sidewalls when airing down for offroad use. I'm wondering if they've addressed this with the Ultra Terrain.
I sold this truck with 58k miles on these tires and they were still excellent. About the same as this video. Never had a single problem with them. Very impressive tire
phenomenal review!! thank you. I've never liked Goodyear... ever. but this tire certainly has my attention, especially since you had my favorite tire right beside it and could speak to both. and please, don't go back to ford or chevy. i had a Tacoma and didn't care for it. i now own a Nissan armada and will never go back to chevy. great video!
Just came back from Discount Tire and they offered me the Ultra Terrain.. how much would you recommend to someone? I’m most worried about if it’s a smooth ride and how loud is it? I currently have Nitto Ridge Grapplers so sure it will be a difference but cupping was my downfall
Love the ultra terrains. 50k on mine and dealer wrote 11, 11, 11, 12 for tread depth at my rotation. Brand new was 18. That's awesome. They ride great and are lot loud in my opinion
Just got these tires on my f150, and so far they have been absolutely amazing. If you still have the tires, how are they? I’m assuming you have changed the tires by now, but it seems the tread lasts a very long time!
I sold this truck a few weeks after this video. had 57k miles on the tires. they were excellent. They started getting more road noise around the 53k mark but they wear like iron. loved them.
Heard great things about the coopers too. I love these goodyears though! Just got my tires rotated right at 49890 miles and my tresd depth the dealer measured was 12, 12, 11, 12 brand new was 18. That's incredible for 50k miles
My next set will probably be the Falken RT or the Kenda Klever RT. It breaks my heart not having mud tires but the on road performance matters too now days. I have heard great things about the Coopers as well.
These are the exact 2 tires I'm looking at for my 23 tacoma. I have duratracs on my sequoia and love them but they are now discontinued for these ultraterrains. The wildpeaks are only $2 a tire more where I'm at.
Thanks for the review of these tires. Ive been considering these. I assume your not having any issues with tire rub. Also curious why the rear mudflaps on your truck are missing. Perhaps they are not needed, or do the tires grab them when backing up in offroad situations?
No issues with rubbing and im full articulated often with all the wash outs. I only installed the front mud flaps. they are aftermarket by recgen. I love them as they are soft enough to fold up when they hook on log crossings etc. the back doesnt need them as they have good 3m tape covering the paint back there and most rocks are thrown out before hitting the rear quarters. I do however get a bunch of mud stuck inside my bumper..lol
@@Jason-Samko That what I figured. Thanks for the info :) My tacoma Trail came with mudflaps from the dealer, but they are quite stiff, so Ill be replacing them with something more flexible.
I'm looking at these tires for my 2021 tacoma I currently have wildpeaks and they have been great but I have 4/32nds left and my truck has 22k miles on them
Something is really wrong with something there. I have had 11 sets of wildpeaks and all ran past 60 miles with lots of tread left. Matter of fact I have them on my wife's 4 runner with 30k miles and they look brand new still.
@dylanbrown3840 yep I'd call falken and use the warranty on a new set. They have a 60k warranty and would be fully covered. Sounds like a bad batch or something
You go back to Chevy or ford you will be sorry nothing against those brands but they won’t hold a candle to Toyota reliability and durability no way , I can say this with 100 % confidence because I’ve owned the domestic trucks many of them all in 4x4 versions , after owning a Tacoma I would not buy another domestic truck no way and the Tacoma is my favorite truck I’ve owned in 28 years …… but that’s just me
Agree with you 100% about the current tacoma. The new one however is very lacking for what I need. I will most likely order a Colorado zr2 or a Ranger tremor at the end of 2024. the 2024 tacoma will not be the truck for my needs. I have owned 29 new trucks from all 4 major truck manufactures and honestly they have all treated me fantastic. Most having over or close to 100k miiles on them when I got rid of them. Ford has always been the trucks that had the most problems for me. I wish they left that tacoma alone as it is right now. if they did Id buy another one in 2024 with out question!
@@Jason-Samko I am with you on the ZR2. Toyota didnt increase the width of the truck like Chevy and Ford did, which both of those trucks have more travel off-road. Toyota just increased the offset. I actually got ride of my 19 TRD-Offroad and bought a 23 Sierra with the 3.0 Duramax. Best engine I have ever had in a vehicle.
@MrKACharlie1865 yep toyota took alot of offroad short cuts with the 24 and that's disappointing. The new tacoma will be around for 7 or 8 years and it's already coming out of the gate with worse off road capabilities that any other mid size truck out there. Even the trd pro is really comparable to a ranger fx4 or a Colorado trail boss no where near a raptor or zr2.
@@Jason-Samko I agree completely. I was really disappointed with the new generation Tundra, which even with the new "hybrid" drivetrain only gets 1 mpg better than the previous generation; in fact a lot of people are switching back. I am loving full size truck life. In my 23 Sierra with the baby duramax, I am getting 22mpg in city and 30 mpg on highway and the engine isn't even broken in yet. I will miss the narrow body for trails, but I am pretty happy with this rig so far.
Easily the absolute worst tire I've ever had. These are installed on my 2014 Tundra. Ride is rough, handling is vague, tread is loud, and wear is bad. I do not recommend these at all.
My experience was exact opposite. As show in my tacoma videos thry had 60% tread life left at 58k miles. They did not get loud until 50k miles just like the falken wildpeaks do. I loved these tires and would buy them again. And would of if they made a 35x1150 I just put on my gladiator. I loved these on my tacoma. And 3 buddies ha e them on thier tacomas based on my recommendations and also love them.
Nice tires! I decided to go with the K02 Tacoma TRD off-road also, cuz they were on sale, seems like the falken might be a little better but I seen a lot of people happy with ALL of these name brand tires, I just wasn't willing to spend $400 more to get the falken AT3W 👍👍 🛻💨

How much air pressure do you run ?
I ran these at 35 psi.
When you put an E load tire with 16/32 tread on a puddle jumper, they will wear a long time.
