Excellent review, clear and to the point. Good quality video also and it's nice that you did this either late in the afternoon or morning, as the shadows help, unlike many of the UA-cam videos take outside when the sun it at its brightest, which washes out any contrast. Also, you're a good sales person, you convinced me to buy one!
Good Review! I have an XT-22 with a laminate stock. I agree...these guns are fantastic shooters. Mine was "dead-on" accurate right out of the box. The bolt operates smoothly as well as the trigger. I've installed a Nikon Prostaff 150 with a Nikoplex reticle and a bipod, I have found both of these add-ons to be great for my Marlin. Many a squirrel and rabbit have fallen to this setup.
+delaero that's awesome man! Since mine was the display model I think it was dropped and that's why it's sights weren't on because it's dead accurate with a scope as well.
very nice job on the review. I owned one of these guns a couple of years back, it was the .22 magnum version with wood stock but I liked the rifle very much and wouldn't hesitate to own another. again, nice job.
I have the XT22TR,same as yours but it's tube fed.I've got well over 5,000 rounds through it in 2 years with no problems. The bolt action was a little stiff at first but it's come along nicely since.
Never got to use the sights on mine. Bought it used but like new condition for $100 in a nice monte carlo laminate stock. Got it home and realized the front sight was tapped off center to the right so I filled the whole, cleaned and cold blued the barrel. Surprised myself with the work, looks like it was never tapped for a front sight.
Two additional thoughts. 1.) Has shooting left handed with Autos (or others) ever been a problem? Ejecting hot brass or what ever? 2.) I notice you put your finger pretty deeply into the trigger, perhaps to the second knuckle joint. Have you always done that? It seems to go against conventional wisdom that says you put the pad of your finger tip on the trigger. Not a problem, just curious.
I will occasionally get hot brass on my arms when shooting a rifle. But it doesn’t really affect me that much. I’ve been working on my trigger finger and have gotten better since this video. Thanks for watching!
+mqa1963 thank you for the compliment! I'm by no means a professional shooter, but with my rifle stabilized on my truck and using a 4x scope, I shot I think a half an inch to an inch group at 25 yards.
I have the granddaddy to this gun. It's the Glenfield (Marlin) model 20. I purchased it new in 1971 for $33, with a scope on it. Except for the trigger and wood stock, it appears to be the exact same gun (although I'm sure there are other differences). The gun has never failed and many a critter fell to this gun over the years.
The Marlin model 80 and the Glenfield model 25 were all from the early70's and differed in very minor ways from the model 20. They are all in the family of rifles that spawned the XT-22. It is interesting that "back in the day", the model 60 (semi-auto) was more expensive than the bolt action rifles. The opposite is true today and the Marlin 795 can be had for around $150.00 (the model 60 for around $180).
+Larry Kool that is an interesting observation about the expense of each rifle. I hadn't noticed it until you said that, but you'd think automatic would be more expensive than bolt action not the opposite.
I suspect it is de to volume. Back in the day, Marlin made lots of bolt actions and sold them under various monikers. Today, far more semi-autos are sold then bolt actions.
I've got one (Australia here) and bought an extra 7round mag. I found sadly it was very unreliable for the first 50-100 rounds** Used to stove pipe the case aka would not eject and always stuck and had to use the pinky finger long nail technique to remove the case :P Again after the first 100 rounds or so and she loosened up its been a fine shooter for a few years now :D
I like mine a lot. The first 25 rounds or so mine had trouble putting the bullets in the chamber. It would jam, but now that it’s broken in it’s perfect.
They are called magazines. Contact Numirch or Brownells in the USA. They should be able to get you what you want. Have the manufactures name and model ready to give them. If you live in the USA. Any firearm dealer should be able to get it for you. Good luck. Happy shooting. People loose these quite often.
Hey. Nice job. Good vid editing skills. Hey, I know you like Marlin and so do I, but you should treat yourself to the Savage Mk II G left hand from Buds gun shop. You should have a left hand bolt action.
Thanks for the compliment. A left handed rifle would treat me well. The only problem is expenses haha. I will invest in one someday. Thanks for watching!
Even though I am Right Handed and shoot Right Handed, I frequently work the bolt with my Left Hand; reach over the top and cycle the bolt. Seems to work OK.
I frequently do this when shooting from a rest. The fore-stock is on the bend rest, my right hand is on the pistol grip, and I reach over with my left hand to cycle the bolt.
GunGuyTKD I have to ride 1 hour to my gun range(I live in Canada can't shoot anywhere or be arrested and lose your guns) and I will test mine...btw quiet 22 don't work on 795 jam...
on a par with a CZ ? I own 6 marlins, bolt and semi. Oldest 1936 vintage ,newest bought a 60 in 2011. Looked at the xt tube fed. Really want one. Sad mess. My last two rimfire purchases were a CZ 544 LUX and 455 Varmint thumbhole. The CZ's are more expensive and can have there issues as well, never had an issue myself. I have $400 in each of my 60's w/o optics and they are great. CZ $400, Marlin $400 ? May I suggest CZ ?
Absolute junk. Do your homework before you buy. It is common for them to jam or try to insert two shells at a time. I bought a brand new gun that doesn't work right, Marlin wants me to send it out for repair at a minimum of 12 weeks. I will never buy a Marlin again.
Great review! You're well spoken and easy to understand.
This is one of the models I'm considering. Thank you for the video.
EBthere thank you, good feedback is always great! This rifle is of great value for it's small price.

+sunrisesurfbum thank you! I always try my best in my videos. Enjoy your rifle!
Great seeing you shoot using the iron sites. Most will toss a scope on right out the box.
I just ordered this with the wood stock. Thanks for sharing!

+Alex Caldwell thank you very much! It is a very nice weapon!
It's nice to see that there are no feeding issues. I'm going to start saying "Very nace" cool southern twang😂

+garageguy879 So far, my Marlins have been wonderful rifles and operated through thousands of rounds as well.
if you want to know about guns, ask a southerner. got me one of those, good gun. great video.
+Hanvin Gavnah thanks!

I just baught this rifle today ! I am super hyped to get it gotta wait 11days tho
+Turtle Head awesome! I hope you enjoy it. It's a very accurate rifle, especially with a scope if you get it sighted in good.
GunGuyTKD sweet! I got mine as a display as well lol so i think i will have to do the same thing you did
Excellent review!

very nice rifle . thanks for sharing . do you get good groups with this rifle? really like ur vids. keep up the good work .

Thats great man . would love to see the 795 vs the xt22 .. see which is the most accurate ..
+mqa1963 I will definitely consider that. Thanks for the feedback!
GunGuyTKD yes do 22 xt against 795 I love both...
+Ilija Bosnjak I may do that one of these days! I'll definitely do the 795 vs 10/22 someday as well.

I own a Savage mk 2 and it's very fun to shoot
I bet. Thanks for watching
Glad to see you're proud of your gun. I hope you can make some videos hunting with it.
+Mike D thanks for the suggestion, I may have to do that sometime.
Thanks for all the great info! Please help me decide between the Marlin XT22VR or the Savage MK II FV.
I don’t have any experience with the Savage MK II FV. So I’m afraid I’d be a little biased to the XT22!
@@gunguytx ok, thanks!
Nice review. Definitely encouraged my purchase
Thanks for watching!
Your garden is very nice and makes me more hopeful that someday I'll be living in the United States shooting in these environments as well!
Thank you. Maybe someday you will!
what country do you live in? Can you own land and firearms there?
We did you get the 10 round mag at
Make more vids with this rifle
I have several more videos with it already uploaded. I’ve got a scope review, and several others.
Well done....great shooting. Enjoy your rifle.
Thanks....
Vinnie
+vspiotti thank you! You too
thay are nice rifles marlins cheers
What are the mags for bolt action 22lr rifles called and where can I buy some?
Anything would be great, thanks in advance.

The Bolt seem to throw pretty smoothly.
nice rewiev, next make ammo velocity tests... thnx
Thanks for watching.
Great job!!!!

It's a good gun and fuuuunnnn to shoot it takes anything, just beautiful, mine have wood stock..at parr with CZ....
+Ilija Bosnjak nice! Nothing but positive ratings from me as well!
GunGuyTKD I have to ride 1 hour to my gun range(I live in Canada can't shoot anywhere or be arrested and lose your guns) and I will test mine...btw quiet 22 don't work on 795 jam...
+Ilija Bosnjak that must be tough, but at least you get to shoot! That's another reason to like the xt22 because you can shoot whatever through it.

hey do you have problem of extracting a cassing after shooting cause mine stated after 400 round shot with it
No I have not had that problem with it. During the break in period I had some small problems that worked themselves out but not that issue.
hi .U didn"t have problems with ejection in thise rifle (sorry 4 my english)
When I first got it it would sometimes jam when loading in a new round but that’s about all. Once I broke this rifle in it functioned flawlessly.
@@gunguytx ok.
Thanks
i like bolt action, it's powerful
That rifle might be nice but I wouldn’t say beautiful.
What kind of idiot uses chemicals as targets ?
Recoil seems like absolutely nothing
It's a very solid 22. Heavy firearm, small caliber.

I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience. I, on the other hand, have only had good experiences with Marlins.
