      certainly won't hear it from a Boeing 737 max pilot

    Thanks for your tutorials, they are very very useful!
    At least they made me realize why I prefer flying the 737 NG over the A320; the former is a lot more "crude" but also more intuitive, whereas the Airbus is a lot more sophisticated.

      I love the 737 NG but I love the A320 Neo too. I find these two planes very similar but different in technology. The A320 has push buttons instead of switch and the MCP has push/pull rotaries. In the end it's the same but the way to do it is different.
      I know it's not perfectly clear sorry.

    • @Z4ng3tsu67
      @Z4ng3tsu67 4 роки тому

      @Renato unREAL I think it's the same amount of work. I don't find any real difference in work amount. For the speed, the 737 is even less "complicated". You press the TOGA button to take off and the autopilot take care of the climb speed when you activate it.

    Just found your tutorial series as I’m starting to explore the Airbus in MSFS. I must say your videos are very good for non-pilots yo learn from. Perfect level of detail. Hopefully Asobo or the 320 mod team engages you to help improve the realism of the aircraft.

  • @speed150mph

    It's amazing the little differences between aircraft. I have never actually flown an airbus in sim before. I pretty well exclusively flew the 737NG. I came here because my buddy has been bugging me to fly with him on sim and has only flown airbus.
    There is a lot to like on the airbus, I love the info you get on the ecam display, the way the faults are displayed and checklists can be ran with it.
    That autothrottle though I think I like the Boeing better. I like that all I have to do is flip the autothrottle arm switch, select an autothrottle mode, and let it do its thing. I like how on takeoff I just set the takeoff setting or derate I want in the fmc and hit the TO/GA button once lined up and stabilized and let it do its thing, and I love that the throttles move so I can easily see what the autothrottle is doing.
    Anyway thanks for the tutorials, I can't wait to get some Airbus time, maybe after that I'll have a different opinion. 😁

    Thank you very much indeed for all your lovely videos.

    • @320SimPilot
      @320SimPilot  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you Carlos! Great question, we don't really ever use that. By setting it to CL we are telling the autothrust to work and use a maximum of climb thrust. If you move the thrust levers lower than CL then the autothrust will be limited to the position the thrust levers are in (and in the real aircraft you would get a warning). It doesn't have much use! We only really put the thrust levers in that range when we are using manual thrust. Hope this helps!

    I'm curious. Why do you always say that it's not for real world use? Do you mean that you need to know tons of extra stuff (and training) in order to fly safely in the real world _or_ that it's not accurate enough and real world airbus would react differently? And since you are a pilot I think this would be an interesting topic for a future video

      It's a common disclaimer that even Microsoft will have somewhere in their legal documents for the game. It simply says that these tutorials are not intended for real-world use and should not be used for training purposes with which to base any knowledge of the real-world aircraft or aviation. While the systems being discussed may reflect those in the real-world, and he is clearly very experienced with the aircraft, he cannot legally advertise that these tutorials are designed to help you train for the real-world asset. While he could omit the disclaimer, it's always best to include it as a form of legal protection and so he does just that.

    • @chaingunner60
      @chaingunner60 4 роки тому +2

      The A320 NEO has a $110.6 million entry price tag, any $100 simulator made for entertainment cannot possibly fully replicate real world aircraft/procedures/pilot training. He says the disclaimer therefore to stop any of the toxic suing culture from trying to get money from him if they try to fly/operate the real aircraft after watching this video then fail! This is however an awesome set of video tutorials by '320 Sim Pilot' for an outstanding sim, I for one can't wait for the A32NX to expand and other 'study level' aircraft be introduced.

    • @IIllIIlIll
      @IIllIIlIll 4 роки тому +1

  • @nikofpv
    @nikofpv 4 роки тому

    Very nice tutorial as usual it would have been a good opportunity to speak about auto thrust behavior in case of stall speed, I'm maybe wrong but I suppose large portion of questions you got about autothrottle were linked to bad experience of autothrust who triggers 100% load in middle of nowhere during the flare when you try to land in manual thrust mode. This seems to happen even if you're in idle before the touchdown. I might be wrong but it seems you have to avoid speed bellow orange dots even if you're about to land. It would have be great to hear you speak about this situation :) Again many thanks for your really appreciated tutorials!

    • @320SimPilot

    • @320SimPilot
      @320SimPilot  4 роки тому

      Hi John. It will limit the auto thrust to that thrust setting, so I would expect the auto thrust to increase thrust to that point to try and maintain the speed. After touchdown it will then command whatever setting the thrust levers are left at. I’ve never tried this however!

    Thanks for the video, really useful. Can I just clarify something please? When turning off the Autopilot, does the aircraft still manage the descent down the glide slope itself or does the pilot have to manage the descent using the flight director? Presumably pitch and roll also need to be “flown” manually too ? Cheers.

  • @nitram419

    Hi great tutorial! By the way at 14:17 you say:
    “…if you bring the thrust levers to the climb gate early or before it flashes lever climb then that’s not what we do in the real aircraft but it should then just engage the auto thrust either way…”
    Q: Does this mean that -- in the real aircraft -- if you put the levers into CLB before you've reached the thrust-reduction altitude then the aircraft would immediately target the selected speed -- as per the FCU?

    Right after main wheels touchdown, it seems that the nose is very happy to yaw left and right. Does the real bird have the same tendency? In the sim it appears that small piston aircraft are even worse and basically squirrel all over the place. I think it makes sense that smaller aircraft are more prone to that, but the extend of it is sort of shocking. Do you have thoughts on that?

I also haven't figured out the dialed-in altitude mechanic, I am unsure if its a MSFS bug or I'm doing it wrong... Am I supposed to dial down the altitude in the FD as I descend? or just leave it top-of-climb? seems like dialing it down causes the plane to do an open descent to that altitude regardless of mode.

    could there be a reason why my thrust control always moves up to flex and out of the climb (CL) position? Then with that happening, when I descend, the auto thrust does not engage to idle thrust. Glad you enjoyed it Pieter! RAD NAV page in the MCDU is where we can tune NDB and VOR but it doesn’t always work in MSFS yet sadly. The needles are displayed using the EFIS control, just below where I change the range.

    In your pilot life (in real flight). Do you say everything you read on the FMA each time its data changes ? OR Just the changed part.

    I’m having some issues with auto throttle during approach to landings. Is it me or is the sim not perfect? I can approach and hold 150kts throughout the descent to the runway number with the auto throttle off at various angles of approach. With the auto throttle on I don’t see the advantage of the automation so far but I am still learning, something isn’t right but I don’t know what it is.

    I hate auto throttle I’ll be coming in to land and then out of now where I have 100% thrust like no that’s not what I want

      Same issue for me but I think it's actually when you're about to land in manual thrust mode and you get bellow the stall speed right in the middle of the flare operation it triggers the auto thrust again at full power to avoid stalling the aircraft. The solution is to land at higher speed (never go speeds bellow the orange dots) I do agree with you it's pretty annoying..

      You don't need a super good pc, i have pc from 2015, with msi 1070, i7 4790 4ghz, 8gb ram, and it runs on high settings without a problem, and use some fps fix config, also its important to use SSD over HDD because its much faster, and loads zones, objects much faster.

    @320 Sim Pilot I just got to known with auto thrust since the new update. They changed all the controls and i cant use autothrust. In difference to your gameplay there is a lighted dot right to the knot amount. so i can still set up the speed i want but i wont do it. Its not working in the a320 neo from flybywire(a32nx) and the normal a320 neo. What should i do. Oh btw, in the landing challenges it works without any prblems so that kinda weird. Do you or somebody else have a tip?

    I was really looking forward to using autothrust on my a320neo, it’s parked up in my drive . Until he said not for real world use 🥺😕

    Have you changed your mic? I felt the old one added to the immersion as it sounded exactly like one on a real aircraft
