This guy makes it look easy you don't have to be a professional to save yourself a truck load of money must appreciate these kind of videos been saving me time and money keep up the good work guys
Love your videos sir . Already picked up a few pointers. Im from Saskatoon Saskatchewan ,Canada. I'm retired & do alot of small engine & equipment in my garage for friends & neighbors. Always look for to more videos my friend . Keep them coming . 😊
I know it's an easy fix. But,really a very hard part of this is finding the proper parts in a timely fashion. That's always been a pain for myself. Love the videos 📹 very informative.
Just found this video and your channel. I found oil splattered on the inside of the right rear wheel of my Husqvarna YTH21K46. After watching your video, I’m pretty sure it’s the axle seal. Thanks. 👍
Love your videos, they are always quick and to the point. I am in NY and I Love your accent !!! Thank you for a great youtube channel and keep the videos coming. Regards
Thank you t bone for helping me solve problems. I’m now working on mowers every day as a side hustle from educating myself off of your videos. I look at mowers completely different now.
I was actually going to suggest the PVC pipe. When I was a plumber, one of the other guys made a big wrench to take out a specialty plug with internal tabs by boring a hole through a piece of 3”pvc and making a T handle with 1.5” pvc, and cutting slots in the pipe to fit the tabs on the plug. My dad used steel pipe with the end ground smooth on one side to set shaft seals, or he manufactured his own tools to fit the needs of the shop the rewinding tool for starter rope recoil springs was priceless, and so were a few little modified tools for carburetor work.
This ain’t NASCAR! absolutely brilliant quote 🤣🤣🤣👍🏻. That engine was hunting like the sheriff in the Rambo movie T-Bone! carb clean brother,,, great video, too easy,,, love to Mrs T from your biggest UK fanclub
LMAO If you ain't First you are Last !! LOL. Dang it man, Rambo LOL, yes it was. I will tell Mrs T you and Mrs Baby said hello. Thanks so much for your support my friend, hope we can meet for a Guiness one day. We would have a blast if we were neighbors.
Hello Sir, I’m a recent subscriber and I really enjoy your the humor and your common sense way of explaining how to fix any engine problems. I have a question about the rotary fuel filters. I like to order some , but I can’t seem to find them. Could you tell me how I can order some? Thanks for all the great videos.
Great instructional video mate. I have a John Deere x300. According to the owners manual, the gearbox is sealed for life! It has one of those caps but it is mounted vertically on the rear of the gearbox. Is it actually possible to change the gearbox oil in a tuff torq gearbox in an x300? If so, can you give me some guidance on how to do it? Many thanks.
You just saved my a** and several hundred dollars! Subscribed!!! Thank you for a great channel. I would like to see how to adjust the valves and replace valve cover gaskets. Also, I have a 2015 Cub Cadet Riding Mower and the seat is CRAP but I do not want to pay $300.00 for a new one any ideas!
From my understanding Cub Cadet made a transmission for their 2160 called the Autogear Transmission. Instead of running off a hydrostatic drive it runs off multiple clutches which are attached to a 6-speed transmission. I'm curious on how it works and how to diagnose problems with that particular transmission.
That may be a machine that has a 2 belt system with a floating double pulley. I need to do a video on one of those. If you are having issues be sure to replace both belts at the same time.
I live on 5 acres and maintain it myself (have been for 45 years). I maintain my own equipment (chainsaws, line trimmers, hedge trimmers, riding mowers/garden tractors, pressure washer, log splliter, ...). I take care of my stuff so it last a long time (I purchased my JD 317 when they were new and have the Kohler Series I motor) as my John Deere is still on the original engine (no smoke) and Hydro. Where do I get parts for my stuff (JD 317, Echo, Stihl, Husqvarna, Poulan, ....). I saw you replace the axle seal and all I could think of is where the heck would I get that for my 1996 Poulan ( 18.5HP Briggs and 46 inch deck)? I only know amazon and ebay. Where do DIY guys like me get hard to find parts for our well cared for quality stuff (like original carbs or Original carb kits)? Thanks!
this just confirms what my thoughts were on a slow/surgin trans on a troybilt horse xp I have. You aren't the only one to have a low opinion of those kholer courage engines but dangit if both of mine haven't been used, abused and then beat on some more and they just keep cuttin. I mow about 8-10 acres weekly with just a 46"'r. Good vid and I sub'd.
Thank you, that's ok that you are working on the ground. I'm always rolling in the dirt repairing equipment. Glad you are repairing it. Thanks for your comment my friend.
Just thought I'd let you know you installed the seal in backwards,it was correct when you removed the old seal because it's ment for the taper to be out so dirt does not get into the transmission but does allow oil to get out if needed.
I've have a slow leak from somewhere near the middle of the transmission. Can't see enough to figure out where it's coming from. Are there any good candidates ? Works fine if I keep it filled.
In the beginning was a clogged carb the reason for that surging? I have a Kohler PRO v twin engine that surges but the only things I can think of is the carb, or fuel pump is sending fuel like it's supposed to. But full throttle it backfires?
Hi. I have the Cub Cadet model as the one in this video. I bought the axle seal on cub cadet website. I am not sure if it is right. would you please let me know part number for the seal use are you using. it look so easy when you drive the seal in. I use the washer and the pvc to drive the axle in but i having hard time... I am still working on it.
Hey Riley hope you're okay anyway great videos I was just wondering if you can give me some direction I got a Scott's Powered by Kohler command I can't find that Seal cause this Machine is from 1999 and up I Don't Know exactly what year You think you might be able to point me in the right direction greatly appreciated keep up the great work buddy
Thanks for watching and commenting my friend. Try looking it up on Parts Tree using the model number of the machine. You can also look at the back side of the transmission, if it's a tuf torque you can go to their website or call their 800 number. Hope this helps
Mine stopped and is definitely leaking around axle seals. But I found a cogged belt shredded and broken. Can’t tell where it came from and can’t find any info on a small cogged belt. Any advice??
If only you had some kind of hook tool for getting the gasket seal out, I saw this one video where a guy has a hook tool that he used to take a wheel nut cover off. One of those hook tools would be great for that seal 😏

That's Southern Kindness... We all are truly rude up here in the north.
These are very well-made transmissions I have a Tuff-Torq K55 in my 1995 Snapper Lawn Tractor 30 years of service ☑️
Had to subscribe as you taught me something…never knew that fluid plug was there!😊
The red neck dip stick was awesome.
Finally found accurate mower transaxle information. Thank you.
I’m super impressed with his halarious commentary 😂
Makes me calm down about such a hectic repair job🤓
Well done T-Bone! Never sieze is definitely your friend. Like you said it somehow finds its way to your hands, clothes, tool, etc! 😢✌🇺🇸

“Dead batteries and carburetors “. Sounds like a country song! 😂
Dang it, now I have to write a country song? 😂 Nope not gonna sing it. 😄

T-Bone, another great session on giving us some education on the common fixes
Thank you
I can't believe you didn't have to purge the air out of it. Must have done it off screen. Good stuff brother.
I filled it slowly off camera, took about 30 minutes. When I filmed driving it that was first time driving it.
Would have been good if he mentioned it in the video. A lot of people wouldn't know that
I appreciate your straight forward no nonsense advice. Keep up the good work sir.
Ok , dag nab it ya got me .I'm subscribed. Love the simple and elegant approach to the repair process 😎🙏👍🏻
Dag Nab It !!! Don't know about elegant LOL Thanks so much and Welcome to the family my friend.
Appreciate this video. Very helpful for my learning curve of how to work on/fix these riding mowers!
Oh yeah, good times with this wheelie popping mechanic..🎉

using a winch as a hoist is flippin brilliant!
😆 thank you. It's a real time and back saver.
I use a an electric hoist same as you, I left my old Kubota raised up for too long,,,,filed the cylinder with oil. Lesson learned.
Another successful fix T-Bone, and well explained 👏 👌 👍
Thanks you my friend.
Great idea to highlight the part number. 👍👍
Thanks 👍I thought I forgot to mention the part number. I looked it up on tough torq website
Love your videos, they are always quick and to the point. I am in NY and I Love your accent !!! Thank you for a great youtube channel and keep the videos coming. Regards
dang, Evel Knievel..... looks like you gave yourself whiplash at the end!! Awesome video as always.. B
Yep, neck brace on now, back hurts and walk with a limp 😂Thanks for watching brother.

Like the zip tie dip stick.
Thanks for the instruction video
Loved this video. Thanks for the demonstration, I learned a lot.
Great, hope it helps you out. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
This is great - informative and entertaining as well. Awesome!
Thank you
Good information ….. great video thanks
Well at least you got a sesl of approval for getting the leaky oil seal fixed and running again
LOL yes we did get the seal of approval from the customer.
I put silicone around the out side of all the seals on tuff tork transmissions a lot of them seals don't seal good on the outside of seals
Good mechanic !

I have a John Deere D110 engage cable broke. I replaced it but now when I engage my blades are barley turning. I did love this video. Tony

I think my Dad had that same bottle of Anti-sieze from about 1986. That silver permatex crap gets EVERYWHERE!
Thank you for the advice
great video, I'll have to check for leaks
Awesome, thanks for watching.

Awesome thank you for watching and commenting my friend 😀
Great video, exactly what I needed.
Any thoughts as to whether the seal was put in backwards at the factory or by someone else?
Thanks

Most likely you have carburetor issue.
Craftsman mower trans goes backwards fast however not so fast forward anymore
Belt seems to be fine
It’s a sealed trans
Any advice
Awesome can you show the how to on the ceiling winch.
I've had a few requests for that. It's just a cheap Harbor Freight winch bolted to the rafters in the building.
@@RaleysSmallEngines ok T Bone.
is there a difference in sae 20w 50 full synthetic motor oil and the oil you are using ?
Did not know where the place was to put oil in the transmission
Thank you sir!
Perfect practice makes for fun😂
best ive seen thanks
8:32 is that a crack in the housing??
Not sure if it will affect the seals life but you did install them backwards and the old ones were in correctly… other than that good work!!
👍👍👍Thank you
You are welcome my friend
Would this same repair coincide on a 7 speed manual transmission?
