You ever do a video on cub cadet that throw the deck belt off? Enjoy the heck out of the channel.
Thank you. I don't think I have a video on that. In that situation I would first look at all pulleys checking alignment, then remove belt. Next spin and check spindles and idler pulleys for play and bearing issues.
Then look up your machine on parts tree. Check the deck diagram to see if you are missing any belt retainers. Hope this helps.
@@RaleysSmallEngines thank you for the tips I will give it a shot.
@@markfox9436 You're welcome my friend. Awesome, you can do it !!
I have a kohler command 17.5. When I try to start it it acts like its hydro locked. If you turn the fly wheel a little bit it fires right up and runs good. Battery fully charged
I bought an Ariens Apex 52 zero turn in April of ‘22 after using a 2001 Craftsman GT3000 that I bought brand new. I parked it running albeit pretty clapped out after 21 good years.
Awesome, we have a ton of customers that love their Ariens. Gotta love those old Craftsman mowers.
I use an old Allis Chalmers 620 with a 60" mower deck and a 720 with a frontend loader
I’ve got a 23 year old craftsman 42 “ mower keep it serviced have not spent near the money as a Johnny D cost and still cuts grass great.
Awesome, yes the older ones are built much better.
Just keep it serviced and you save 3 k
I've got a 2013 RZT S 46 Cub Cadet still going strong and cuts 5 acres every 2 wks. I also use it to pull my wood trailer (3'×4') during fall & winter!
That's awesome Jack. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend.
Seems you’ve been around the block a few times! First time viewer and I really enjoyed watching a pro at work!
Awesome, thank you for your kind words. Welcome to our channel.
Right confession,,,,, I don’t know what type of lawnmower I got coz I pay the neighbors to mow my lawn 🤣🤣🤣 but it’s electric anyhow. Great video, love your style, I learned so much from these entertaining but educational videos,,,, love to Mrs T from me and baby ❤️❤️
Nothing wrong with having the neighbors cut your lawn my friend. Thanks so much for your kind words my friend. Proud to call Ya'll our friends.
Thanks Y'all 😊 sending love back to you two ❤

LA105 that I just replaced the carb for another "Nikki" but now i can swap it out with a different one. So thanks for the part#
I've got 4 different mowers. Ranging from a mid to late 1990s Agco Allis 1616H (Simplicity) with the 44 inch deck, that I did an engine swap on. To a 2004 John Deere JX75 I've had since high school. I do have a 2003 Snapper Hi Wheel 26 inch mower that's sorta rare, but not unheard of. I did recently acquire a 1991 Ariens LM21S with the 5HP TVS-120 Tecumseh. I did have to put a rod in it as it had developed a rod knock after its previous owner decided to cut grass with no oil in it. Love the content T-Bone! Keep up the great work!
Heck Yeah ! What a collection you have. Thanks for watching and commenting my friend.
I like the gear transmission on that LA105. to drive, you just release the clutch and go and the only time you need to press a pedal is when you brake. it's like having built in cruise control. are any small lawn tractors made with a gear transmission anymore or is that a thing of the past now?
Another job well done. Thanks T Bone.
Thank you Phil
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you 👍
Glad you enjoyed it Craig
I have a 2019 holdover called Badboy zero turn mower with a Kohler motor on it.
Why my Troy built shoot blue smoke it’s only 3 years old. Thank you for sharing. Frank
Could use an oil change, and try a 10W30 oil full synthetic. Or use about 6 oz of Lucas oil Stableizer. Then fill with oil. Just a suggestion.
Premature ring failure
If it's a Briggs it's most likely a head gasket, that's just an educated guess. It needs to be tested with a leak down tester to be sure.
@@RaleysSmallEngines thank you T bone I will try it
@@bertgrau3934 thank you I will check that out.
Smart man
What kind of mower I have you ask. A 1996 JD LX176 and a 2006 Craftsman LT 2000. Owned both since new. Both are going strong still. Although I've never had any major issues. Love your experience and know how.
Great video! Thank you
Thank you, glad you liked it
I got a John Deere rider just like that La 45 John Deere
Awesome !!
At the cost of brake cleaner I just sonic clean all the carbs, and use only distilled water and dawn dishwashing soap
It saves 150 bucks a month so far 😊
So I did this suggested carburetor replacement runs great for the most part, but there is no low idle?throttle cable adjustment maybe? Have you had this issue? May want to make a video on it ..thanks
Have a Gravely ZT1534 with a 15hp Kohler Crapage on it. Same issue here, only runs on choke. I’ve been having to use starting fluid for the last season too. Just replaced my fuel lines and fuel filter, did new wiring harness and starter, repainted it and new seat last season when I got the mower, so everything else runs great.
Any chance you have a link for the best Walbro carb for the Kohler 15hp? Really want to get it running right once and for all! Thank you for the helpful videos!
John deere d110, bought it when my hip started acting up.
Nice, I'm sure it looks better than the one in the video.
T, you swapped the old carb out for a new one but deleted the explanation for that swap! I thought I was losin’ it, but another commenter also mentioned that. Maybe just pin an explanation?
Yes, I'm sorry I didn't explain. The bottom line is Nikki is junk. I don't let a mower out of our shop that has a fuel issue with a Nikki. I do not want a customer coming back with issues. That's why it leaves with a Walbro, a dependable carburetor. Hope this answers your question my friend.
Yuda man.
😄thank you
Put a manual fuel cut off valve on it

240john deer runs but no ide when the blades are on
Yeah, it’s been 72 hours since they replaced the hour meter.

That mower looks pretty crusty for a 95 hour machine. I have a 120 and mine looks new, that machine has a hard 75 hours on it. And kept outside.
I have a John Deere LA115 with the same motor and it surges pretty bad but only when the engine cover is on. With the engine cover off it runs smoother but still not perfect but doesn’t surge anyone have any idea of what it could be? I’ve cleaned the carb, replaced the fuel line coming from the tank, replaced the fuel pump and the filter
To add to that if I turn the choke on it’ll stop surging but then die but it’ll run all day long without the choke on it’ll just surge bad
Starving for fuel. Remove fuel line from carb and be sure it's flowing, if it has a fuel pump set parking brake remove line from carb and crank engine (it should be pulsing fuel). If fuel is flowing install a Walbro style carburetor on it. Problem solved. Watch this video.

@@RaleysSmallEngines thanks for the reply! I am getting fuel from my pump so I ordered the walbro gonna see if that fixes my problem also love your videos man and thanks for the tip
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your enlarged inset photos of tiny parts and funky angles. Everyone else keeps you blind to what they are doing.
Wow!!! Thank you my friend. We are trying to get better at our videos and your comments help!
After dinner coffee and a Raleys video,,,,,, life is good! 👍
Lol, thank you my friend.
I missed the reason for changing the nikki to a walbro since you seemed to fix the nikki?? Anyways i have a 2004 10hp b&s Ariens 1028 riding mower. It’s kinda my hobby machine, i added tach, voltmeter, amp meter, cylinder head temp meter, headlights, tail lights, horn, front bumper and separate choke control.
Same here so I also mentioned that!
Very impressed with all the mods you did! Only things left are cruise control and backup camera! 😉🔧👍
@@Rein_Ciarfella ha ha, you’re right! It’s funny because sometimes i lay in bed and think about things that i could add to my rear engine Ariens. Then i fall asleep. Some people count sheep, but i count mower accessories! Thanks for the comment!
Sorry, I should have explained that better. Yes, I fixed the NIKKI, but I will not let a mower out of our shop with these issues because it will fail again. I do not tolerate come backs, the Nikki carburetor is junk and will fail. That's why it left with a Walbro, a dependable carburetor.
Love it has a horn! 😅
@@Mrs.T-bone That was the first accessory that i installed on it! It sounds like the Road Runner……………BEEP BEEP Mrs T!
I have an LA135. Bought used, ran it for 3 years with almost zero maintenance. Now I'm learning from you what to do.
😊 I enjoyed the video. My mower is a 2019 Hustler X-One zero-turn.
" Again, I'm not cleaning it up the best in the world just because of what we are doing here." ............ "Again, I am not going for perfect." That's the main reason of cleaning a customers carburetor.
We knew we were replacing it
I've got an L120, bought it used with the snowblower attachment and had to replace the engine. When ordering the new engine I goofed and got the 25hp JD Briggs. Nothing slows her down now!😂. My machine has infinitely more hours than that one, why is it in such bad shape?
Snapper Comet 30" cut .
That hour meter might be broke.
Heck Yea! I know you like your Snappers. Good point, nope I didn't check that. This mower sits outside all the time at a hunting club and is neglected.
Sounds like a carburetor clean up is in the work's 😂
I don’t care what the hour meter says, that machine has got at least ten times that many hours on it! Somebody put a replacement meter on it. Easy swap! If the condition of the engine compartment isn’t enough, look at that seat!
Yes I was told the hour meters really mean nothing the small engine mechanic asked do you have an hour meter on your car? I said no he said well there you go..
The only thing with 70 hours on it is that hour meter.. LoL
I have no idea if the hour meter has been replaced. All I do know is that it sits outside at a hunting club to cut the little bit of grass at their clubhouse.
LOL
I have the craftsman yet 3000 been working on her all winter. I'm fixing to trade out the niki style to the walbro.
Add a inline fuel cut of valve and after use shut of valve and let carb run dry 😊
I always take a pic of carb linkage with my phone. So many holes on so many levers and if you don’t hook them up right it becomes a new level of frustration.
Awesome !! Yes, a camera is a great tool. I do that also on equipment that I'm not familiar with.
Very helpful, unless the linkages are hooked up wrong.
Was the cleaned original carb not working ?
Yes, it does. I didn't explain the reason I replaced it in the video, sorry. I replaced it because the Nikki Will fail again. I do not want a customer coming back with issues. The Walbro is a superior carburetor that is very dependable.
Great video, very detailed & informative on your troubleshooting steps to determine cause of the problem. Keep them coming Professor Mr. T Bone
Thank you so much my friend.
Sears Craftsman PYT9000 lawn tractor.
G'day from Australia
Great video
Very helpful
I have a 2004 L120 and a 2008 LA105
Both of which had been sitting around a long time, and I picked up very cheap
I have the L120 running reliably and have been using it
It still needs everything to do with the steering replaced at some point, to improve that side of things and a new set of blades
But the LA105 is another story
It starts and runs but continually surges
I want to fix this issue before I spend any more money on it
I've serviced the engine, stripped and cleaned the carby, and fitted a new fuel filter
Any advice and information to help me solve this issue would be great
Thanks in advance
Cheers, Mike 😄
Awesome! The surge should be fixed using the Walbro I showed in the video. I put a link in the first comment and in the description.
@@RaleysSmallEngines
Ah, I was thinking it wasn't carb related, but more throttle governor or cam related
Yeah just ordered my Kohler tune up kit new blades and I put casterol oil with titanium in it synthetic.. getting ready for the 2024 mowing season
Awesome
Are we talking about our own riders I got an old Craftsman 11 horse been sitting in the garage collecting dust just use what ever freebie I can pickup and get running so I ain't got time for it 🤷 Besides why rack up the hours on mine when I can do it on the next flip ?
Awesome
My son has a John Deere and nothing but a piece of junk never buy one. And it looks better than this one like new but it's always breaking down. They're overrated.

Thanks for watching and commenting. What kind of problem are you having?
I am up north here in Canada, all I get when I search the carb number is nikki replacements, unless I want the chrome version for $150, others are $20-30,, great video..

Hey T-bone & Mrs T. I have got a John Deere 445 with a 60" deck. I also have a John Deere 325 lawn tractor with a 48" deck. Sold a 318 last year.
Nice, you have some good machines.
LA110, new plug, new oil filter, thought air was in line but gas flows, will start with carb throttle body cleaner spraying in intake but won’t stay running. New carburetor? Any help appreciated!
Love your video. Thanks
Good Morning! i Love watching your videos. Thank You Very Much for making this Awesome video and for all of the info in it! i Always put a fuel shut off valve on any ride on mower or yard tractor. i put the shut off valve between the gas tank and fuel filter, this comes in Realy handy when i have to change the fuel filter. :)
Thank you Warren. Yes, a fuel shut off is always a great addition, and yes makes easier to replace fuel filter.
I have a 4016 ingersoll. A nothern one built like a tank.
Awesome
Thanks for all of your great videos. I have a ex-mark 48-inch radius E series. The fuel view window shows about 1inch hi from the bottom. I added about 6 gallons of gas, and the view window did Not move. It's still showing about 1 inche from the bottom as supposed to show it's full. Also, when I add gas, it goes down slowly, then I have to add more gas. It seems like it's air in the fuel tank and kinda hard to start at times. Someone please advise. TY
I have a Husqvarna r322t all wheel drive mower with Briggs and Stratton 20 horsepower endurance motor. My Nikki carburetor has all the issues you are talking about. Is there a walbro replacement dual port carburetor for my mower
Thanks, T-Bone. Excellent lesson. For my little Troy-Bilt 10.5 hp. It all translates over.
Any ideas on this. I’m up for trying anything at this point. I have a JD x390 with a Kawasaki fs651v it’ll only run for a few seconds to maybe a few minutes but only with the choke on. I’ve put a new carb on it, new fuel pump, all filters are new, fresh oil change. I also drained the tank and put fresh gas in. I blew out all the fuel lines and did a valve job. Yet here I am with it still stalling in seconds. I feel like this issue all started when I hit a wet spot mowing but I could be full of shit there. Any help is definitely appreciated.
My John Deere a neighbor gave me had the same problem and I replaced the carb, the same issue would happen about 10-15 minutes of driving and would only stay running if I threw it on choke and then die out. Still after 2 years left it set in back of garage where it should be in the scrap pile.🐦
Thanks T Bone for videos. I have a John Deer 110 and a twin cylinder craftsman that is a 2007 model that still runs like a champ. I have learned a lot watching your videos.
I'm using a 1990 Dynamark with a 39 inch deck that i had gotten from a buddy. It needed some work so I restored it and it has been fantastic. T-Bone they just don't make equipment like they use to
Awesome, yep older is better my friend.
Gre a t Vidoes I have a 2013 RZT S Cub Cadet every one tells me it's MTD junk but I have only changed oil and filter and one set of tires and normal maintained. Love this mower. Kohler Command engine.
My LA 115 John Deere has been blowing oil for 8 years. Took it in, they said they fixed it, but it still blows oil from somewere, all over the back of the engine. Any suggestions?
I have a John Deere LT155 and it doesn’t Look like any of those in the video tutorials I’ve watched. My mower was pulsing and only running on choke. I thought I needed an air filter but I got a whole set: air, fuel, oil and spark plug. I put all of those four in. Now it won’t turn over at all. I’ve dried up a carburetor in my car before by trying to start it too many times after running out of gas. I dropped a little gas in the carburetor before to fix that and it seemed to have helped. Maybe that’s all I need to do. I’m tired so I’m gonna wait until the morning. Wish me luck. Something tells me I’ll need to get a new carburetor. One of the videos I saw said the aftermarket ones can be a lot cheaper than the OEM’s so I’ll go for that. I don’t think I wanna try and clean out the one I have. Two of the videos I’ve seen, yours and another, both gone through trying to clean out their carburetors , but ended up getting the new aftermarket one. I think I’ll cut straight to the chase and pass on the surgery.

That's great my friend. I like Husqvarna mowers.
that machine is in bad shape for 74 hours
Yes it is. It sits outside at a hunting club and is neglected.

I have a 2000 Husqvarna with a 24 HP Briggs and Stratton it runs on Choke only Should I replace the carburetor or what Please give me help me out
Nice work t- bone
I also ordered a new carburetor for it too. I checked the safety switches.
I had a similar problem with the same engine. Turned out it was the fuel shut off connector. It would come loose but not fall out. My cure was use 2 plastic tie wraps. One around the top of the fuel valve and the 2nd between the wires on the connector ran the wrap through the 1st wrap just enough to keep the connector in place. I told the customer what happened, what I did and told him if he ever has another problem to check the wraps to see if either one broke.
mine will run fine off choke once it's warmed up a bit, but as soon as I put any sort of load on it like engage the blades and put it in gear then it will die but if I put the choke on it will come back to life so i end up having to cut the grass with the choke on
