Had the same thing driving to work with an SL600 sitting in somebody's driveway outside for two years. Everyday I would dream about walking up to their door and making an offer so I can do the manual swap project I've always wanted to do. But around 5 months ago I drove to work one day and it was gone, likely sold, and it crushed me. I don't know what it is because I thought these generations of front styling always came off as ugly when I was growing up, but somehow they've grown on me. I can't afford to take on such a project at the time regardless so getting an E30 that I'm restoring was probably more sensible than a 20 year old Mercedes V12.
@SELFMADE LION🥊 Bro if you restore and maintain that car as much as possible while keeping the drivetrain stock, you are going to be sitting on so much money in the next 5-10 years. Please for the love of god as someone who insures only classics and enthusiast cars all day, you have no idea how fast and how quickly these generations are dropping like flies. Soon people are gonna realize how little are left and the values are gonna skyrocket on clean examples.
Owning a CLS 55 AMG for third year now, I can tell the excitement of that engine never fades. When the exhaust gets warmer, you're driving in a suburb where the buildings echo your supercharger whine, and you feel the low rpm torque... There's no substitute.
I Also have the cls 55 amg and it is really beast, especially when it is warm! Exhaust note is on point and so aggressive, also it responds so much better!
People think you have to have the newest car, but they don’t make cars with 5 speeds anymore and this style, interior, exterior etc. It’s enjoyable for people that have perspective or enjoy that type of drive.
@@trcs3079 There are issues with it, and it can be expensive to repair depending on the failure. The compressor can fail, which isn't too expensive to replace and doesn't leave you stranded in most cases. The airbags themselves fail, are quite expensive to replace and can leave you stranded. The air lines can fail which are inexpensive, but difficult to troubleshoot and repair. The rear shocks are also crazy expensive to replace on the Kombi at 600 Euro each. Price for an entire replacement setup would be around 4-5000 Euros. Personally I decided to ditch it for coilovers which have so far been an adventure. Hope to have a final solution sometime next week after 2 damper failures lead me to ditch BC racing for a custom solution.

My family has a standard e320 cdi, with the i6 diesel. Despite being not well kept in the last 4 years due to work and other things, it is still rock solid and is almost perfect. The styling aged very very well, both outside and inside, the engine still goes strong without a problem, the car is comfortable and the space inside is surprising, we picked up bikes with this car without a trailer lol The only thing is that the air suspensions broke a couple of years ago in the middle of a trip, after 300k km, but we still reached our destination without a problem and then changed them. It's sad to say, but they don't built cars like this anymore
It certainly drinks fuel like it's going out of style. I get about 7-8MPG/City and about 12-15MPG/HWY. Feel very happy to own an E55 AMG after watching this. Mine is also an ‘04 estate. Not nearly as well optioned, mine has the seven seats though. I’m gradually bringing it up to mint. In the UK these are very rare - only ten or so come up for sale every year in estate form - values remain low however. £6k for high miles, £12k for a nice one with ~100k miles and £16-20k for low miles. I bought it to keep though so pile them on. 😀. Thanks for the review.

I like older cars wayy more than newer cars. You can bond with older cars, but rarely with newer cars. That is why i love my simple 1994 Civic Coupe despite it being slow (Still faster than most standard crossovers you see driving everywhere XD) i would never get rid of that car just because of how much i love it As for this merc in this video, i still love the timeless looks it has. I really love fast station wagons because noone expects it to be so fast
I bought a Car and Driver Magazine one and there was a story about how the author went to his parents' house for Thanksgiving. He brought a '03 SS Camaro to show off to his dad, but his dad bought an E55. Him and his dad drag raced through town and back, and his dad beat him every time in the E55. I daydreamed about owning an E55 ever since. Very nine car, sir.
It´s not for putting in the groceries easier. It´s to protect the upper bumper and the loading sill from scratches if you are loading big and unhandy things like a heavy suitcase. Nothing a blanket couldn´t do as well but hey, better have it than need it.
I SO want this car... a fast estate that doesn't shout "LOOK AT ME" (Yes new RS6, I'm looking at you) is a wonderful thing. I drive an old BMW E91 Touring, but would love something with a V8 grumble to it, that doesn't too obvious or too showy - this is perfect!

Absolutely a wonderful car. The leather seats are of a such high quality. Remove the limiter and you can hit 310-315 kmh easily. The yellow warning light about the ESP is not normal. Legends never die.
Like you, I love the 3-pointed star on the hood/bonnet and I wish Mercedes would bring that back!
Great revieuw Max. I got an 05 E55, love it. Add a sprintbooster to the throttle, I’m sure you won’t be dissapointed. It changed my cars performance completely. Thinking about the throttle will allready make the car move. 😁
Spintbooster is shit 😂 just placebo
Great purchase. I love when people really understadn the intrinsic value of a car and appreciate it. Very well done! Beautiful car
what a car Max, what a car
Dynamic seats
Thanks 😊
Those are actually the worst
@@AutoTopnl Yet the Distronic is one of the rarest option (apart from that one in the boot hahaha)
@@mallafakerii I had a 2008 E500 with nearly every option. Was just missing the rear sunshades, heated rear seats and steering wheel heating. Had an absolute blast owning that car.
The MB public archive mentiones there were 1444 E55 wagons made between 06.2003 - 05.2005. Quite rare to see one
Its a real Silver Arrow! Amazing car....
Old Mercedeses are a piece of masterpiece, so damn comfortable, my dad had W210, and now I wish to buy one of those, you are like flying on the road
This is one of my favorite AMG's ever! I would take this over any new AMG in a heart beat!
amg gt? def not
@@rpz I would take the E55, yes
@@dinispaulino7512 then there is something wrong with you bruv
@@rpz I'd argue there's something wrong with you instead!
My family has a standard e320 cdi, with the i6 diesel. Despite being not well kept in the last 4 years due to work and other things, it is still rock solid and is almost perfect. The styling aged very very well, both outside and inside, the engine still goes strong without a problem, the car is comfortable and the space inside is surprising, we picked up bikes with this car without a trailer lol
The only thing is that the air suspensions broke a couple of years ago in the middle of a trip, after 300k km, but we still reached our destination without a problem and then changed them. It's sad to say, but they don't built cars like this anymore
It certainly drinks fuel like it's going out of style. I get about 7-8MPG/City and about 12-15MPG/HWY. I've never seen anything past 15 (and that's me trying very hard to get it) ...granted mine has a hint of work. I've never known the consumption figures on a stock E55. 05 Owner here! I picked mine up about 2 months ago! For a 15 year old car, this thing blows my mind and surprised me how fast it is.
i just sold mine for a 996 carrera..am i upset? YES. car was amazing, renntech mods, 650 hp etc, with a super nice setup. I got around 16 mpg around city 18-24 highway, i drove the thing like a granny...
That's why you buy an E350 with a stage 1..😉

Sooo cool that you are showing also some other classic performance cars :) New cars are good but there are plenty of limited edition or simply not so common cars which are really amazing :)
Always loved these cars. The speedo looks so cool.
This was my first car. Never was able to get it up that fast but I definitely got up to about 135mph. Blows my mind to see it go so fast
Love the channel!
Having that much torque gives a very confident feeling on the road. You are being planted into the ground.
Love the E55. I have a 99' W210 E55 myself as my daily driver. I almost went for the supercharged one when I was looking at E55's. Still need to try one out.
From what I’ve seen a lot of guys go from the w211 to the w210. Older generation mercedes have more character/personality to offer. More driver oriented and balanced between comfort and power. less about brute force and high speed.
@@TheBeastin14 I see the same they are just more raw and the handling is just so good
Thats my dreamcar btw hope to get a 99 E55 soon! or maybe a older E50 amg!
@@abdullahz4804 same here man. I’ve been looking for an E55 since before the prices shot up. Got close but not close enough. They’re a dime a dozen and a lot of them where I live aren’t in the best shape.
@@TheBeastin14 Same here i have found many cheap ones in other countries but they sell so fast or have to be restored. Tbh if i was you i would just get one in bad shape and restore it but way easier to get a nice condition one so i understand. My buddy has a S210 E55 for sale but it needs work but price is not bad considering most of them are over 10k even higher mileage.
Amazing car, this is such a perfect familycar
I really love this car, for me it is one of the most beautiful Mercedes have ever made.
As an optional extra you could also get this as a 7 seater with two fold out seats in the boot like old Volvos
That's what mine had
@@swandonovan certainly makes it an even more practical car
Was already going to rate it a 10/10 before knowing it went to Asia, now its sold. Legendary car
Sedan is better
No such thig wagon is cooler
Solid 10/10 absolutely love the car!
Oh man one of my all time "want one!" hero cars... Who remembers that test Clarkson did at Manchester airport with the M5 Touring (I know that was an E63). And that SOUND... I've had a crisis 😍
Finally. One of the best cars here on Channel
That old Mercs are gems, i have brand new 911, one year old BMW and Mercedes, but still i am very happy in my old R350 first generation, best car i ever had
I like older cars wayy more than newer cars.
You can bond with older cars, but rarely with newer cars.
That is why i love my simple 1994 Civic Coupe despite it being slow (Still faster than most standard crossovers you see driving everywhere XD)
i would never get rid of that car just because of how much i love it
As for this merc in this video, i still love the timeless looks it has.
I love your comment: you bolt with them. Indeed. The older models have more spirit.
Even the E320 CDI we have is a lovely car that's really quick for what it is. Love the W211.
One of the most glorious engines ever
19:00 thank you for that line!!! Car manufacturers don't understand that unluckily
Owned one of these until ‘08, loved that car.
I have two AMG's, both have the m113k engine, 2003 CL55 and a 2005 SL55, great cars and fun to drive, and can give most modern cars a run for their money
I have regular S211 3.0 and E55 is a dream. Unfortunately it's almost impossible to find one in such a good shape, you're lucky!
0-100 km/h same as a Charger Hellcat. 100-200 in 10.9 sec. And du then you remember you own a 17 years old German Sedan. What a great Car, an the build quality is so well
Beautiful!!!, and in such a pristine condition is a steal!! AMG has a home run every once and then, and here it knocked it out of the park!
Beautiful car and engine! I have 2003 E220 ( which i know is much less powerful) and i love it more every day! The comfort, the reliability, the power, it has everything a car should have.
One of your best videos and i hope we can see more videos with cars like this!
This, the E60 M5 and the C6 RS6, what an era!
seriously though. A a supercharged German muscle car. A Lamborghini derrived TWIN turbo V10. and a screaming F1 like howl of an NA v10
All in a package of a family car
That's the shit that'll never happen again. that a truely remarkable time to be alive then
@@streeatbeat Exactly! My dad was thinking of buying one of these back in like 2010 I believe but he never did, ended up getting a 1990's S4 with a 5 cyl turbo engine
A legendary car that will not be repeated
Those cars have a soul that’s why you bond with the older Benz’s!
What a machine, looks great, goes fast and it has 5 seats and a huge boot for everything. That is super cool
The 211 AMG package/55/63 front ends are the best Mercedes ever designed
AutoTopNL, THEY NEVER MISS!
What a video. So stoked to watch and listen to your description. It truly is an insanely beautiful well built beast of a car. I drive a 2006 e55 AMG w/68000 miles same color sedan also in immaculate condition.. Every time Im behind the wheel...Wow. Its fricken awesome. Excellent motivating description and insane autobahn acceleration. Please do another vid.
Thinking of removing the limiter and then max it out :) Enjoy yours!
God these mercs are timeless. W211 E Class is just such a good looking car.
I’ve had 3 of these as well as a cls55 absolutely loved them . I fixed the s/c pump for £80 pretty easy job !!
Great review Max, E55 has always been one of my favourite cars. Seeing that you mentioned Porsche, please do a review on a 981 Bosxter GTS (old eara Flat 6) would love 2 see that. Thanks for all your reviews I never miss one, please keep them coming. Be safe 🙏
i bet without the limiter at 250 km/h it would run to about 280 ish if not even close to 300 km/h. what a beast
It does 300 easy
I had a garage friend who drove a S55 AMG with like 900 BHP he had a crapton of mods on it, it was a blast to hear and see in person
if this Mercedes wasn't limited to 250km/h, it could easily reach 300km/h. Impressive for an almost 20-year old Estate. it is no longer made of that mass. excellent video once again. congratulations, Max!💪
I got a 507edition c63 and love it, now looking to get a E55 as a toy soon which I hope to get to around the 650-700hp range.
It’s a GunSight. That’s why we like it…… I even fitted one on my U1000 Unimog…… improved my aim 🙂
this is my dream car :D but im happy when someone else gets his dreams !
Great review guys.....
I had an E55 AMG as a company car in 2004.....an absolute hooligan of a car.
Then i went for an E63 after that which to be honest wasn't anything like the fun of the E55......It just felt way more boring :-)
This engibe is one of the best ever engines☝️ it is bulletproof...3 valves per cyl SOHC...massive block...heavy duty built qualit and best typ of supercharger...exhaust sound is like a chopper 💪
Absolutely a wonderful car. The leather seats are of a such high quality.
Remove the limiter and you can hit 310-315 kmh easily.
The yellow warning light about the ESP is not normal. Have it looked at by a Mercedes specialist.
This car is very well tuneable. You can get 600-620 HP and 850-900 NM out of it if you go for the complete tuning package.
I regret selling my 2003 E55 sedan.
Take good care of your car. En veel rijplezier!
The esp light only came on because he pushed the esp button.
Absolutely love the car. I'm driving the E320 W211 with an E55 AMG bodykit. The best daily driver I can imagine. Dreaming about the Station Wagon E55 just like yours though. To be noted, headlights on yours are also non-stock, those are coming from the facelift. Great video!
This 2003 kombi is truly mental !
This is a clean masterpiece E55 AMG ...it looks like a brand new
the reason why i love amg ❤❤ 10/10
this is just pure art
It realy makes me happy how much he loves this car
