@AutoTopNL, I strongly recommend changing the intake air temp sensor on your car. I have a near identical car, right down to the interior and exterior colors though mine is a 2006, and it gets to 285 much quicker than yours did in the video. Never had the room to go past that, but speeds were still climbing pretty quick when I hit 285. Changing the Intake Air Temp (IAT) sensor was a huge performance boost on my car. They degrade over time and start reading higher temps than actual, which causes the car to pull a little timing out of the engine and reduce power. It's a cheap part, and a 15 minute DIY with nothing more complicated than a screwdriver.

I had an ‘03 CL55 with the same motor. Sold it due to the headaches of the ABC hydrolic suspension. It was an absolute missile on the highway, though. Miss that motor. Bulletproof.
Only one advice,u could maybe only consider it. Dont pass a row of relatively connected cars w a speed over 160km/h. You are putting yourself at a gamble for your life. There is people who dont watch often enough in the back mirror and they will maybe want to overtake without seeing you coming so fast when u drive 300 or whatever high speed. Its a gamble with your life for popularity. Respect your life first. Im a huge fan of your vids. Great job.
Much respect to the size of your balls. I had a modified CLS55, if I’m honest I sold it because the torque to horsepower ratio was constantly working against traction to get the car going from a start. I switched to a C5 RS6, although not as reliable as the Merc, it puts all of the power down all day long.
I wish I could drive there, the speed limit is 110km where I am. I just bought a 2004 E55 with bigger 63mm injectors, LSD, Interchiller & tank, catch can, long tube headers with an intake kit and I must say it gets along okay for a 20 year old car. It goes like a rocket. I very much recommend the mods.
Love the M113k engine I've got a CL55 and a SL55, same engine but totally different cars to drive but the engine just powers you along the road with so much ease Taken my CL to 165mph and the SL to 193 that was enough for me
Wish I had one of these. I'd take the sedan tho. Nonetheless it's a super practical, comfy and big car but can be driven very fast and sporty. Love the all around character of it. 00s was a great Era for amg
I too have an E55 AMG wagon. So far I've done bushings, all 4 air struts, I replaced the HID lenses, and I had to solder the upper interior temperature thermistor for heat to work properly (common). Not too bad for an older vehicle. My massaging seats and air bladders to appear non functioning at this point, something I'd like to tackle next.
Love the AMG 55 even in saloon or sedan form went in one it had alot of balls just wish they didn't replace the kompressor for turbo just love that linear power delivery there is a channel I follow it's called legit Street cars he has one the same he did a trans mod unit on it to give the automatic transmission better shift and response it's just plug and play that simple you should give it a try
Awesome vid guys!!! Nice to see a unlimited E55 doing what it does best... cruising at 300kph without breaking a sweat! The prev owner of my 2005 W220 S65 removed the limiter and according to him it does 330+ with enough stretch ahead, unfortunately there are not enough straight roads where I live, so I've only done 240kph so far, that's like taking a stroll down the park, nevertheless, just knowing what it can do makes me happy as it is.... :)
@@Sommares exactly, I've done 289kmh GPS on my 97 CBR1100XX Super Blackbird (full titanium TSR 4.2.1 exhaust, sprockets, Factory Pro goodies, FCR 41mm Flatsides, tuned, ECT) and I thought I was going to die 😅 I'm 40, that was fast enough, I'm not young and fearless anymore lol. I've also done 273kmh (I'm American, so I'm converting to KMH) in a buddies Viper driving, it's definitely no comparison.
Well get a bigger exhaust and a separate water tank for the intercooler, and better swap that with a bigger ic. A bigger throttle body from the SL600 wouldn't hurt and only after all these, a smaller pulley on the blower

I was gifted an opportunity to drive an SL55 AMG back when new and remember the bliss of that engine. It felt beefy but had an ego on it that definitely passed into the driver, beckoning to be revved out and borderline thrashed as if it were happier doing that than being mundane. I remember the owner telling me to go ham on it, and did so right out of first gear. It is still seared into my memory of hitting 70mph in first gear, like "this shouldn't be possible!" Life altering moment. 👍
It could be the second gear: some 722.6 Mercedes transmission modes are considered 2nd as the primary gear to launch the car. Need to check the gearbox ratios to measure the exact RPM for 70mph at 1st and 2nd gears to clarify
@@Debarkadere That sounds very plausible. Being unfamiliar with the dash, I don't recall seeing a gear number, but the speedo was very prominent! This wasn't a launch mode, at least I didn't put it in anything, just romped on it front intersection to intersection down one normal block length.
@@C-M-E found out and calculated some info: 1st gear ratio is 3.6, 2nd gear is 2.19, while the final drive is 2.65. Thus maximum RPM 6100 allows wheels to turn 639 times/min at 1st gear and 1051 times/min at the 2nd. With 265/35R18 rear wheels size it is equal to perform 48 mph at 1st and 79 mph at the 2nd gear.

I had an ‘03 CL55 with the same motor. Sold it due to the headaches of the ABC hydrolic suspension. It was an absolute missile on the highway, though. Miss that motor. Bulletproof.
I can not have enough e55 AMG, please upload more POV videos with it! :)
One of the best looking E-class ever. 👍
What a beast ! and thank u AutoTopNL for stay true to the content of the channel and not go for the crazy tik tok clickbaits from nowadays ♥
Now that’s a nice ride I miss my wagon everyday mine was the w210 e320 with 12 spark plugs it would Cruz at 100mph and still kick down
Going 302 km/h and saying safety first 😎
@Vincent Emond so you didnt watch the video ? 297 on gps and 302 on speedo ... Show your car from 2004 that can make 300km ?
@Vincent Emond 10:24
Speed under certain conditions is not dangerous..these guys prove it.
What an absolute epic car! Currently in the market to buy a W212 E63s for this exact reason, Effortless high speed cruising in comfort.
What an amazing car. I have the 5 cylinder diesel. 2003. Only 177bhp but it eats up long journeys in comfort.
Great job.
Amazing. Just might have to buy one of these for myself. Thanks for the review.
Much respect to the size of your balls. I had a modified CLS55, if I’m honest I sold it because the torque to horsepower ratio was constantly working against traction to get the car going from a start.
I switched to a C5 RS6, although not as reliable as the Merc, it puts all of the power down all day long.
you have great taste in cars, the fast Mercs of this era are incredible
Insane! This cars will be more reare in next time! Hold it in good hands! 👍
I absolutely love that generation of E class and especially the AMG! One of the cars that I will definitely buy in the future! Such a breast!
How about a full on braking test from 250+ km/h?
My favorite wagon everrr 😍😍😍
I wish I could drive there, the speed limit is 110km where I am.
I just bought a 2004 E55 with bigger 63mm injectors, LSD, Interchiller & tank, catch can, long tube headers with an intake kit and I must say it gets along okay for a 20 year old car. It goes like a rocket.
I very much recommend the mods.
Just finished building a s211 e55 4matic. It's a blast
I love how easy and effortlessly it gets to these speeds .. and for almost 18 years old vehicle the quality is amazing ….
Does age matter? My 3sgte with 600hp is also from 1992, and thats 30 years old.
Love the M113k engine I've got a CL55 and a SL55, same engine but totally different cars to drive but the engine just powers you along the road with so much ease
Taken my CL to 165mph and the SL to 193 that was enough for me
Thank for video. Incredible car. The incredible how much svalutation are. Wonderful design... Power every single second drive. ❤❤❤❤❤
E55 AMG Is a never ending legend 🙌
Kids born when this car was made will be adults next year - and it still looks good and drives good. That's German Engineering for ya.
Get a motorcycle and reach 300 kmph to see how it feels like 😹
@@Smzxe 300 in a motorcycle is a bit different than 300 with a car brother
@@Sommares you need balls 😹
@@Sommares exactly, I've done 289kmh GPS on my 97 CBR1100XX Super Blackbird (full titanium TSR 4.2.1 exhaust, sprockets, Factory Pro goodies, FCR 41mm Flatsides, tuned, ECT) and I thought I was going to die 😅
I'm 40, that was fast enough, I'm not young and fearless anymore lol. I've also done 273kmh (I'm American, so I'm converting to KMH) in a buddies Viper driving, it's definitely no comparison.
10:06 safety first! 😂😂😂 at 302km/h! However you have steel balls! 💪🏼
The way you said "already past the limiter" was like Doc Brown describing how something works
Well get a bigger exhaust and a separate water tank for the intercooler, and better swap that with a bigger ic. A bigger throttle body from the SL600 wouldn't hurt and only after all these, a smaller pulley on the blower
Grew up in Germany in the eighties and on many trips in our Ascona 2.0s remember big 7 series and Benzes going past and 16V Golf's doing 220 with everyone else trundling along about 100.Great Lane discipline, you can't go fast for very long in an electric for sure.
Loved this video, I have the face lifted E63s AMG w212 station wagon and I love it to bits, so brutal 😎
As a fellow E55 Kombi owner, I feel quite proud.
Ik vind dit de mooiste E-klasse tot nu toe. De sedan iets mooier, maar deze estate is ook prachtig.
An amzing car, an amazing driver. Keep it up!
It is still seared into my memory of hitting 70mph in first gear, like "this shouldn't be possible!"
Life altering moment.
@@Debarkadere Thank you for the research and effort! You've put to bed a nearly 20 year old qualm of mine with that car. 👍👍
@@C-M-E hope I've not ruined the miracle) I was just wondering :)
So thoughtful of Mercedes to make it so that when you crash you are already in a hearse to the graveyard.
Es impresionante tu trabajo muchas gracias por compartir con nosotros tu contenido! Cuídate
get long tube headers, 80mm pulley and a ECU tune done for +200 mph
Can you imagine how crazy this would have been new, absolutely stunning, incredible car, thank you for the content
Hello Max how many cars do you own personally? Im curious if you dont mind me asking :-)
Yesterday I was going 257km/h with my 2002 W211 E320 but needed like 5km and little downhill :)
