A timeless classic. Like you said, one of the last "old school analog" cars, with its awesome engine and manual gearbox, and without any safety nannies. This will always be one of the greats, unlike many of the modern 2 second 0-60 smartphones on wheels.There is a reason why even today many prefer for example old school mechanical wristwatches over a smartwatch.

It’s an awesome car. One thing I find strange is that this is considered a hypercar, but the 911 (997) turbo that was available at the same time , had the same 0-60 time and was only 7mph slower top end is only considered a sports car by most people?
@@KingBanter hypercars are even more expensive and exclusive than super cars and the turbo s is a sports car so yeah, performance doesn’t make a car a hypercar. A new hot hatch would probably give the cgt a good run for its money but you can’t call that a hypercar
@@recipoldinasty I don't mean on a track or anything but on normal roads. Look at the new rs3, 0-60 in the low 3s, same as the cgt plus it's not manual and is 4wd so it'll take off better. So until around 100mph, which is already way over the speed limit on normal roads, even hot hatches could compete with cars like the cgt. Of course on track it would be different though
2003 i fell in love with that car and sound as a 8 year old child. A local in my city was driving a Carrera GT he parked on the side of the road and me being excited af when i saw it. My mon and me just stood there and he was so happy the car made me smile he took me for a drive in the GT and it was literally the best thing that ever happened to me. I met him last year with the GT and he still remembered me. He took me for a drive again and then he handed me the keys. i will never forget this. this car is a dream.
Thats so cool, my neighbor at my holiday home showed me his red carrera GT last summer. It was purely insane, i still am looking back on that memorie sometimes. I filmed when he started the car and it still makes me get gosebumps. Unfortubatley he did not have time to go for a ride since he was going out for dinner in two hours.

@@morpheus_9 Yeah, agreed. The 2JZ is a legend with its incredible sound! I also drove an old Opel Commodore 3.0 in 2006, it had a straight-six engine and sounded like an 80' naturally aspirated Porsche 911.

This car always will be something special, some cars achieve that. The countach looked surreal but is a hell to drive, the F40 is unreachable, but the Carrera GT...To me and I think to a lot of people, the Best piece of automobile engineering that ever came out of a factory.
I remember having this car as a hot wheel. This car ended up coming to one of my first jobs but I didn’t realized it was the cgt until it left my sandwhich shop 😢it was an honor seeing this car in real life.
I work at a golf cart company and I was delivering a new cart to a car dealership and they wanted me to take it to their warehouse down the street. I drive the cart into the warehouse which is slightly rundown, and inside of 20+ porches ranging from a 1600 Super to a Carrera gt tucked in the back. Vindage Ferraris mixed in as-well. I could have spend hours in there. Great video

This year is the 20th anniversary for this car. Even though I know it's never gonna happen, I really want Porsche to make another model for the anniversary, even if they have to add stability control I don't care. And I've always wanted the engine to be enlarged and rounded up to 6 liters V10 with like 800 HP. That would be perfect to me.
The car is 16 Years old but it still looks so timeless. Such an amazing car, an amazing timeless design and an amazing sound. Imagine this car with the same specs but with a PDK, oh no that’s too crazy…
@@asr1143 I agree, the manual is a big part of the analogue, connected driving feel of this car, I'd take manual over automatic any day of the week (even though it's slower, but it's not all about numbers), and it also requires skill to drive... Sadly manuals are dying out these days :'(

Aging so well. The interior is kept so simple that it will age extremely well. The interiors are usually what tells the cars true age and era. Porsche killed it with this car.
Loudest stock exhaust in a street-legal car, by a mile. Someone who lives near me has one and he blipped the throttle one day when I was standing about 20 feet behind the car and the sound was so loud it felt like ice picks in my ears. Insane.

This car is an absolute zero compromise. Pure car. Apart from maybe f40 nothing gives the owner better car driving sensation. This clutch, gear changing, brakes and... Obviously the speed is just not for everyone!

What I've heard about the clutch is you HAVE to trust the anti stall, dont even go near the throttle until you have the clutch pedal all the way up
