😍 your t-shirt! 😂 My daughter asked me to watch the Grandkids on demand so she can get her toes done. I said NO- it’s a big quilt day. That tee sums everything up!
Teaching is a gift you are born with. A person can obtain multiple degrees - and still fail to impart their knowledge to others. I also appreciate the humor that goes along with your patient, detailed/common sense instruction. I don't have a Juki, but another 'industrial' straight stitch machine which accepts Juki feet. I got the 'right ' compensating foot for a quilt binding, not understanding that the bulk of my quilt would have be shoved, pushed, pulled through the harp of my machine. I came close to dislocating both shoulders! After MUCH research, I found the left compensating foot and got 1/8" and 1/16". I LOVE them!!! Thanks for ALL your excellent, informative and humorous instruction.
I love this crumb quilt♥️, it’s one I want to try making! I watch all your Videos & they really encourage me, thank you so much! I need to save this one to go back to whenever I make one. Thanks for Sharing! I just love watching your Videos! ♥️☀️🌈☀️
Tracy I love how you went into detail about how to get the perfect mitered corner for the sashing. I never knew to sew off the edge then fold and turn. No wonder mine always looks funny. Going to try this!! I sooooo appreciate all the tips and tricks you give us. It definitely makes sewing easier and more fun. Less time wasted with the seam ripper. 😱🫣😭 I absolutely love your channel!! Thank you!!! 💙🪡🧵
I want to make one of these quilts, I love that the connecting sashing doesn't show as that's the main reason I don't make quilt as you go. Excellent tute!!!
I'm with you...I don't like the sash on QAYG Quilts. With the busy backing...you can't even see the stitching, which helps too✅ And YES you need this quilt in your life...so make one chick❣️ hahahaha🤣
I also love scrappy Quilt.. love your videos and learning so much so much lately. Trying to decide a few ideas for all 10 grandkids one great granddaughter few weeks old, and twins niece, nephew. So i need a few different king for them all. Oh yes, plus our close friend new born grandson,to complete for Christmas. I better get back to work to complete 3. Oh including my big brother 😂. Busy To complete this many unexspected this Christsmas. 😊😊❤
If I do quilt as you go in a similar technique-I use washable school glue sticks sparingly. This way I don’t have to worry about the spray. It makes me cough.
I have watched this multiple times because I really like your method. Am going to do a take off and make a crazy quilt version. The scrappy joining strips are my fave!
Awesome! I knew within 30 seconds of watching your video I wanted to subscribe to your channel...So many unique/clever ideas! It looks like a Command Hook on your cutting ruler for a handle/hanger? A hospital bedside table adapted as a moveable/stable ironing table? Love it, love your teaching!
Exactly the help i was looking for for a new project on my domestic machine. I will make a sofa cover to protect it from my 3yo and her questionably sticky little mitts!
I unsubscribed while you were talking. I hit subscribe just as you were saying it. I tiny burst of confetti popped up. I happened so fast I couldn’t tell for sure but I think it was pastel hearts.
This quilt is absolutely gorgeous. I love everything about it, the colours, the way you put it together, everything. Thanks for sharing. Ps I love your videos
I saw the button light up rainbow around it! Just found you and inspired to make one of these crumb quilts. Prob should work through my other 10 project bins with prepped quilt ideas first 🤪 enjoyed this a lot TY!
My sweet, I have no stash….I am a newbie but I am loving the journey, I am 81 and will probably never live long enough to have a stash. I like the idea of QAYG because I cannot afford to send out to a long-armer. Will be saving your video and thank you!
Oh how I love this one Miss Tracy!!! So soothing to look at a crumb quilt. I just made my 4th scrappy Fall quilt…only this time I get to keep this one. Wahoo. Not sure how my brain is stuck on scrappy right now but I’m in love!! Thanks for showing us step by step. Haven’t done a QAYG in a couple years…I so love the way they feel…much thicker and snugglier. 🤗🤗 Have a marvelous week. 😘😘
It actually light up🙀 I was kinda thinking someone was playing a joke on you cause noone else has mentioned it, but it really did. It flashed a pale yellow with the google rainbowish colors highlighting it.
I love this tutorial! I definitely will put this on my to make list. Many crumb cake quilts look too chaotic for me but this one has more of an order to it. I guess I’m weird. Love the colors. No, nothing happened on my screen when you said the magic “s” word. Tfs!
Controlled Chaos LOL🤣 Try again on the Sub button...sometimes YT has to analyze the "script" of a video...and it may take 20 min or so once the vid is live....Others said it is working now 🤷🏻♀️ Evidently when I said "Subscribe", the subscribe button lights up LOL🤣
Your quilt is wonderful! The colors are very nice, I was looking for more of the lobster but the balance you made is great. Thanks for such a different way to get Ideas. 🙂
Tracy, I love this quilt! I really need to learn QAYG, long arm fees are killing me! I’m going to download your pattern and try it first on a baby quilt I need to make. Thanks.
You’re so greatly appreciated here Tracy. As someone who is new to quilting I have found everyone of your tutorials so helpful. I don’t miss a one of them. Thanks for. Suzanne
This looks like another great way to make more finished quits for Project Linus. I'm already Subscribed to The Sewing Channel. Yes. I love the colors in your quilt. It's beautiful.
This was a great tutorial - never actually knew what a crumb quilt was. Great colors and the hidden sashing is genius. The subscribe button did light up and now im a follower ❤
Please correct me if I’m mistaken. Did you just sew your quilt without a walking foot on your Juki? I’m amazed. Thank you a great tutorial. I never knew the binding corners were to have opposed opening. Wow! Thank you again ❤
You are correct Ms Amber❣ I have never even used/needed my walking foot yet on my Juki. I use the same presser foot all the time and haven't had any problems✅
This is the method I use for all my quilts even when I'm just doing regular pieced blocks. With these blocks that are pieced, like MSQC Antique Lace pattern.... I piece my blocks like normal. Then to each block I do my sandwich with batting and backing. The quilt block is totally complete so the 2" I talk about are just from the Layers. I quilt that block sandwich to the batting and backing, minus 2" or so from every edge. This, 15" let's say, size block is easier to quilt then having it all together and fight the bulk under the throat of my domestic machine. I don't have a large quilting machine. I then sew my quilted blocks together front right side to front right side and because I've not done the edges, I can piece my quilted blocks together pulling away the batting and backing so the front won't have a sashing for qayg, it's just block to block. If the quilt front needs a sashing and corner stone, I still do the front like any other quilt top, putting block to block with one block larger because of the sashing and cornerstone. I hope this makes sense. I then do rows with qayg technique with the back only having the batting and backing fabric left to sew. The extra 2 inches of the batting and backing not quilted or sewn to anything, allows me to finish the back....Cut away the extra batting after you've butted up from the back to the next block. Mind you the front is already sewn together and ready to finish your rows. I cut away all but 1" on the backing material to fold over the edges that have been butted up together. You can see the quarter inch from the front thread line so just cover that line with the backing fabric. I school glue and iron the back fold in place so I won't need pins and quilt from the front. I use the star like stitch with the 3 or 4 straight stitches between that star like burst * decorative stitch, sew IN THE DITCH. This stitch allows the sides and the fold on the back to be more secure and be caught with the quilting in the ditch and the Burst *. No hand sewing for me. My hands won't allow it plus it's faster this way. Leave the 2" on the sides open so the rows can be attached in the same manner. All the bulk stays to the left of the throat making quilting doable and fun. I pray this makes sense. Maybe you can do a video on this method so it is understandable. The quilt front looks like any quilt and the dimension is only on the back. It's a fun way to add decorative stitches. I like the star burst * stitch stitch stitch * stitch stitch stitch * pattern the best because if the thread breaks or you run out of bobbin thread it's the easiest to keep the pattern so nothing is noticeable. I do most of my quilting this way and it's a fun method to finish the quilt before starting a new one. My mom wanted a quilt with no batting so it can be tossed in her adjutating old machine and not have to be taken to the Laundromat. I had to use plain white muslin in-between so the backing fabric wouldn't show through the front white background if the quilt top.
Tracy! You mentioned the right compensating foot and not the left one! It’s a must have when you sew the binding on. It is gorgeous and lines up the stitching on the edge of the binding perfectly every time. Thank you for another great video. I need to try this quilt (with both compensating feet lol)
That was very interesting! Thank you for sharing the pattern, tricks and tips. I didn’t see any buttons light up, but I’m guessing it’s because I am already a subscriber of your channel for a while now.
Hey Tracy! Love your nice and easy crumb cake quilt blocks. Really like the color combo, too. When I unsubscribed, then subscribed again, the Subscribed area blinked blue, then went back to it's usually black and grey look. The viewed can now watch the Thumbs Up numbers increase live, as well as the Views numbers. All my fabric is boxed up with the exception of some recent buys at JoAnn's sales. Still have access to one of my sewing machines, so I've been making Project Dress A Girl dresses. Was driving me crazy not having anything to work on, so I decided to do some quick and easy dresses. My move to FL has had to be postponed for a while - long story. Still enjoying your YT posts. Love the t-shirt you're wearing in this video! 💜
Well, the little subscribe square was showing down the bottom right hand corner but by the time you said subscribe it was gone and there was nothing to click onto then. 🤣 Not to worry though I am subscribed and have no intentions of unsubscribing. I love your channel. Thanks for all your hard work. Love this crumb quilt.
I saw that you just rolled up your binding on a ruler and then pulled it off. May I offer an easier suggestion get one of the paper towel holders at dollar tree and get a toilet paper roll and or paper towel roll it doesn’t matter you know the cardboard thing in the middle and wrap it around that and put it on the Paper towel holder thing and then you can set it in the floor or beside you on the printer no the sewing machine and it will roll off as you’re using it now that when I first thought of this, I gave a demonstration one time I used a toilet paper standthat you’ve just clip your paper towel or your toilet paper roll on and it would just spin right up onto the thing. This is long and lengthy but I hope you understood. Love your show.
Fabulous idea!!! I have one of those free-standing TP holders that also can store extra rolls. I bought it for my mom, and she passed away not long after. I didn’t want to waste it bc it was brand new, so I saved it. I’ve been trying to think of a creative use for it, since I don’t need a TP holder. I did recently buy some binding buddies, (not the fancy kind) which now I won’t need, lol! 😂 Maybe I can use them for other kinds of trim. TFS this great idea!!! 🌷
I really like your crumb quilt. Since I already subscribed, I don't think anything happened, no lights or flashing. Thank you, Tracey, for all your hard work.😊
Me too Joy, I really love how Tracy gave us close up shots doing the binding, esp the corner shots. My corners need more practice so it's more mitred, as I don't think I was sewing it to the corners enough, then sewing straight from the edge 😁
I love to look at scrappy quilts but have yet to make one. I really like the QAYG method you used! Nothing happened on my end when you said the “S” word. Maybe because I’m already subscribed.
Thank you Chris....Yes...maybe you have to hit unsub and then listen...and you would see it LOL...who knows...LOL....anyways thank you for playing along🥳
Very cool and fun quilt. I can do that! And yes, the "S" did do something. It highlighted a ring around it. So, naturally, I clicked on it. 😄
I just love quilt as you go and this sashing method is stinking BRILLIANT!!! Love your channel and THANK YOU!!!
😍 your t-shirt! 😂
My daughter asked me to watch the Grandkids on demand so she can get her toes done.

I really like the way you put that sashing on the front. Love this way of quilt as you go.
Yes it has a lighted ring around the subscribe button. The quilt is beautiful!
I've resisted quilting as you go because I've never liked the obvious end result. I like this!! Excited to give it a go.
OH that was cool when the rainbow ring flashed around the subscribe button as you said the word! Neat.
Yes, colored lights went around the word!! Thank you for your videos!!
Great video ❤🤗👍
You are a great teacher! I don't think I love the crumb quilt, but i learned so about quilt as you go!

Thank you for the kind words Janie...You are so encouraging ❤️
Your quilt is wonderful! The colors are very nice, I was looking for more of the lobster but the balance you made is great. Thanks for such a different way to get Ideas. 🙂
I agree on the lobster color...I wish I had it...I was trying to use up what I had. ❤️🦞
The backing is perfect! great job!
Great video, and yes, the subscribe button did light up😉
Oh my goodness! This video is just what I needed. Not every quilt needs sashing and this method is great! Thanks❤️👍🏻💫

Thank you for another great tutorial!! You do a very good job teaching all of us Tracy fans❤
I love the colors of the crumb quilt sis. You did a fantastic job!!❤
Thank you so much sis...I love how this one turned out❤️
Thanks again for this helpful tutorial Tracy, great colors in this quilt ! 😊💕
Also nothing special happened to that “S” button ! laugh out loud !
Beautiful!
Please, do you know of a quilting foot like the one that you are using that would fit a vintage singer, a Brother or a Pfaff? Thank you in advance.
You’re so greatly appreciated here Tracy. As someone who is new to quilting I have found everyone of your tutorials so helpful. I don’t miss a one of them. Thanks for. Suzanne
You are so kind Suzanne...thank you for the encouragement..I really do appreciate it❤
Stick with the quilting. It's fun and great therapy from stress. I've been quilting 48 years.

Hello from TN. I came across your quilting video, really did enjoy it. you made it so sample thanks.
Love this method of crumb quilting and QAYG! I like the orderly layout better than the wonky. I ordered your pattern. Thank you for this tutorial!
Thank you so much for supporting The Sewing Channel❤️
What a beautiful quilt! Love it!!
Wow this is neat! Kinda scared with the 1" strips to join the blocks at the back. That's slim but maybe Ill try
Great fabric choices!
Good video. Thanks for posting.
Beautiful quilt❤❤❤
You are a wonderful instructor! Thank you Tracy.
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for the kind words Barb❤️
Your tutorials are great, Tracy! Thank you!!
Juki Junkies can hook you up with a left compensating foot too. It makes topstitching that binding a breeze.
LOL🤣 I'm definitely going to get one✅
@@TheSewingChannel I got mine about a week ago. It is great for topstitching. You won't be sorry.

Thank you Arvetta...I think it would be perfect for Project Linus❤

Awesome...welcome to The Sewing Channel❤️
Love this quilt and method! Your directions are so easy to follow. On my long, quilt bucket list.
Beautiful

Fantastic tutorial
Thank you so much Karen❣️
Tracy! You mentioned the right compensating foot and not the left one! It’s a must have when you sew the binding on. It is gorgeous and lines up the stitching on the edge of the binding perfectly every time. Thank you for another great video. I need to try this quilt (with both compensating feet lol)

😪 didn't work. BUT I love love love this technique! Definitely use it on my next qayg. Thanks!
Love the scrappy sashing. No subscribe button here for me, I am subscribed, so that could be why.
If you want to hide the top stitching of the sashing strips, just sew a few more random parallel rows across the quilt.
Great idea..I actually had thought to say that because I am going to do some more quilting on it...but I ran out of time and forgot...thank you❤️
This is such a beautiful quilt. Love the colors. ❤
