- In this video I show you how to link the Blink Video Doorbell with the Amazon Echo Show.
I show you how to set it up with the Alexa app so it will alert you when someone is at the door.
I also show you how you can use routines so the live video feed will automatically display when someone presses the doorbell.
Make sure you watch the video to the end as I show you a tip to save your battery if the doorbell isn't plugged in. - Наука та технологія

this was amazing. as someone who is using their blink as a baby monitor, the ability to see a live feed every time the baby "moves" is fantastic. thank you so much. seriously. so. much.
Finally! A straight forward video to interact the two devices. Thanks a ton!
I called Amazon 4 times for help in vain. This video solves my doorbell problem. Thanks
I am glad it helped.
I have the same problems
Many thanks, i bought a refurbished blink door bell and honestly it’s a 95% only a few scratches but not on the camera!! I also connected it with my echo show 15 and it works great thanks again..
Brilliant! Just got an email this morning with a special offer on the doorbell and am tempted but needed to know I could view it on my Echo Show. Thanks and subbed:)
It works! I also was having trouble with the second step -- not stopping after 20 seconds. I found it in one of the replies and am going to restate it. Say, "STOP (name of camera)" And it worked, at least for me it did. Thank you whoever found that out!
The missing piece! Thanks!
After much frustration, your video quickly had my new doorbell and Echo show 8 working like a champ, thanks for the informative video.
Glad it helped
@@DanielWestow Why are two routines needed? Can't just add all the actions in one routine? Secondly, if I am home and want to talk to the person at the door, aren't they cut off at 20 seconds?
Just an extra little tip. If you use "show blink doorbell" the microphone won't be enabled, and you will have to touch the icon to talk. However if you use "answer blink doorbell" the microphone will be enabled automatically. The choice is yours.
Is there a way to disable microphone from echo show so to avoid accidental voice being transmitted to doorbell?
Thank you a million times, you've saved me days and days trying to figure it out.. Such a genius
did it work on your echo? what echo do you have? I need help
@@emilyleon9186 it worked, then it didn't, the bell notifications are coming through but the life video isnt anymore, I think I'll redo it again.. Thnx
A lot of steps but I did setup the routine, haha I’ve been a computer tech for 30+ years and couldn’t get this set up without your help! Ty.
Thanks for your tutorial. Easy and straightforward to follow. Much appreciated!
Great tutorial, received my Blink Doorbell, Module 2 & Echo Show 5 yesterday. All set up fine. Done those 2 "Routines" you so kindly put up and all work great, but I did notice even before doing the Routines, that when door bell is pushed, I get the notification on my phone, my 2 echo dots & of course the echo show 5. But when I simulate (not being at home) and go on the notification on my phone to see who is at the door and click on the image screen, it comes up with "System is busy, please wait". So after having the routine stop after 10 seconds and i click on image screen again, I can see live view but if there is a delivery person there, they would have gone by now. I know that the Ring lets you see live video straight away, even with the echo show 5 running, so it seems strange. Might send this back as not really any point. Thank you for your great tips👏👏👍👍
I think the Blink sync module / cameras only allow one live feed/stream at once, so only your Show or phone app can be viewing the camera, not both at once. It's an annoying limitation (the Blink range is cheap and simple rather than having advanced features). The simplest / cheapest 'fix' is to maybe mount another cheap Blink camera elsewhere (such as their external battery-powered camera, currently £50 on Amazon) which also covers the door view (e.g. it provides a wider view of the drive / front garden / garage), so you can switch to that. But not ideal...
did you try going to the alexa app and accessing the camera from there?
Came from a Google Nest and Hub which basically did all this automatically so I was surprised I had to set this up with Alexa and Ring but I guess that's how they have to interface. Feels like there should be a more intuitive or guided way to do this when connecting the devices already but seems like this is the only way. Thanks a ton.
So helpful and well presented without any filler. Thanks
Your welcome. Thanks.
Why there is not a native way of setting this up is beyond me. But, THANK YOU for this super helpful video. It worked like a charm (and I would have never been able to figure it our otherwise). Cheers!
Your welcome. I’m glad the video helped.
Thank you !!!! I would have never been able to figure this out myself!
Thanks. Was really helpful. Exactly what i was looking for
Thank you! Saved me a ton of time trying to figure it out!
Your welcome. I am glad it helped.
Thank you this helped so much! I got mine to work, after adding the “blink!”. Also, I was able to create routines for multiple echo shows. Anyone who hasn’t got it to work make sure you change the name to blink! on both apps, but most importantly when creating the show me the blink! step.
If someone's Echo show also says "Would you like to buy a bell?",
I also had this problem,
it's working again for me now.
I did the following:
Renamed the camera in the Blink app and Alexa (but with German terms because I'm German, lol):
Blink App: Door Camera
Alexa App: Door Camera
Then I redid the "ring ring" routine:
I re-inserted the newly named door camera above "under smarthome .. etc"
Then changed the voice command command to "Show door camera".
Then I deleted the "stop" routine.
Then I tried the bell routine, now it works again.
After that I did the "stop routine" again.
It still works (at the moment until Amazon breaks everything again with updates lol).
Brilliant great walk through and worked when I tested now to see in the real world
This video was the perfect answer to my query. Thank you so much. I set up Alexa for auto show of the doorbell and I’ll set up the auto stop later. Thanks again!!
Thank you. These instructions were very easy to follow and worked perfectly.
Glad it helped!
Is it turning off???
This was VERY HELPFUL!!! Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
Best video I've seen on the Blink Doorbell!
Thanks!
Thankyou I just got gifted these for Xmas and it's made it so much easier to set up. Merry Christmas
Do you have to have a sync module for it to show the live feed?
Great tutorial! I ended camera display by adding a 2nd (wait 30) and 3rd (hide) actions to the initial routine to "show camera" instead of making an extra routine. "Hide garage" (cam named Garage) is the only command I could find that successfully closed the view. Home simply took me home and put the cam in a pic-in-picture display; it also bails out of whatever you were previously watching and simply takes you home if you use the command "home". If you configured any of your devices to use another name like "Echo" instead of "Alexa" then you have to setup the commands starting with it's name. "Echo, hide garage". The routine overview still shows "Alexa, Echo, hide garage" but it works.
Thanks very much. I added WAIT to the same routine and said STOP XXXXX and it worked
Extremely helpful, thank you!
That auto show you explained worked a treat, a bit a of a fast run through had to keep pausing, but all info there and as said works well. thanks.
I had quite an issue setting up the Blink doorbell in the first place as it just wouldn't connect my WiFi router, did the blink install qr scan, found the DB using this, entered my WiFi password but it kept failing, so after a few attempts I logged into my router (Virgin hub 3) and added the Mac address in manually, as soon as the router stored this, it connected to the DB - I know this as Alexa said Blink doorbell found, if this helps anyone great.
So helpful - love added tricks at the end.
Thanks!
If this excellent Setup does not work for you (as it didn´t for me) go and try to change the 2nd routine "stop" to "close" ... this worked for me!
Thank you. This was very helpful
Thanks Daniel, excellent tutorial.
Very helpful and easy to follow, thanks!
Thanks you made a very complicated thing simple 👍
Glad it helped
You are a lifesaver, there is no way I could have set it up without your instructions. It would be good if you showed the list of your stored routines and the associated settings when completed so that we can confirm that we have setup the same routines in the same way. I say this because my doorbell is not turning off after 20 seconds and I don't know where I went wrong. Thanks again.
Your welcome. Thanks for the feedback. I will look to add the settings in my next video.
my door bell doesn't turn off after 20 seconds either. Did you fix it? I followed the instructions and it should technically work.
The doorbell is not turning off after 20 seconds and I am concerned about battery life so I am going to research the Blink door bell and see what can be done. If you figure it out please let me know.
@@lucgerber3448 I am trying it on a echo show 5.

Worked brilliantly! Thank you!!

Omg thank you so much! Finally it works!
Super helpful! Thank you!
Your welcome.
Ton tuto m'a bien aidé ! merci
Thank you so much your video helped me so much but I didn't understand the last bit though, what does the stop action do exactly to stop the battery from draining? Thanks
So do you need the one with the sync module 2 for this? im looking to set up one of these for my mother and looking to buy blink door bell and an echo show , just want to get the correct stuff.
also can it be set up on firestick for whenever that is in use?
many thanks
Absolutely no way I would have figured that out. Thanks so much!
Happy to help!
Thank you. The main reason I bought this device was to have just this functionality. I'm astonished it couldn't do this right out of the box!
Excellent tutorial, thank you. Is there a routine or action that can disable this routine if, say, you're away from home (either manually set or automatically) - so that you can answer/view doorbell presses on your phone?
Thanks for this session. Very useful
Your welcome, I am glad it helped!
Excellent excellent video. Thank you so much
That worked for me, thanks!
You're welcome!
Do you need the sync module to see live video? I have mine wireless since I live in an apartment and would like to use my Echo show 5 if possible
Thanks! that was really helpful.
Your welcome. Thanks.
Thank you so much. It really helped.
Glad it helped!
Thanks, Dan. It worked on my Echoshow 5. RR
Your welcome, I am glad I was able to help.
Got it!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!! Don't know if I would have figured this out and probably would have returned the product.
Glad I could help!
Thank you

Great tutorial, thanks :)
Your welcome. I am glad it helped.
Thanks!
Per l'italiano, rinominare il Blink Doorbell in "Citofono" sia sull'app Blink che in Alexa (Gestione dispositivi), nella routine il comando personalizzato sarà quindi "visualizza citofono".
Hi love the video! Very informative and I have saved it for future reference as I know it will definitely come in handy!
Can I just ask a question if you wouldn’t mind? I am looking to buy the doorbell and maybe the echo show but can I just check, do I need to buy the Sync Module 2 for the doorbell to connect to the echo or should it connect to that and or our other Alexa without it? Thank you in advance!! 😊
the sync module saves your videos to a usb drive - without that you have to have a subscription - its less costly to have the sync module
Works great with my Echo Show and I don't have the Sync 2
Thank you so much. Very easy using your tutorial. 🎉
Oh my goodness. Thank you!! 😭💜
Your welcome, I am glad it helped.
Also had the issue with it saying “device name doesn’t support that” then following the comments here changed the name of my device to “Blink! doorbell” (*Make sure you include the ! very important*) it now works every time. Seems kinda silly but as long as it continues to work I’m ok with it.
I have the echo show 5 if that makes a difference for anyone reading this.
How is that even possible? Special characters such as an '!' are not allowed in that particular device name field.
@@mkartelmedia991When changing the name of the doorbell device within the Blink app they are allowed.
I think you’re trying to add it to the routine name on the Alexa app and that’s not the place.
Omg this worked so odd but it worked
I saw that my doorbell had a multi digit name and wondered if that was causing the routine to fail (instead of turning on the doorbell camera Alexa told me to change the language in settings among other things). Changed the name to "Blink! doorbell" and now it works! (no idea if the ! was necessary but I went with it and I'm not changing it now). Thanks for this critical bit of info Brittany and thanks to Daniel for the video that got me 95% of the way there.
Brittany! Thank you for this comment. This " front door doesn't support that" has been driving me and my family INSANE since August. I salute you x
Great tip at the end!
Thanks! 👍
So do you need the module 2 in order for the pressing of the doorbell to get an automatic live feed to the show 5?
Excellent video.
Outstanding thanks!!!!
I got it set up a few days ago and tested it thoroughly over the weekend, it is really not reliable. Half of the time not triggering the routine, and then half of triggers found problem in connecting to the blink camera.
Thanks for this, it works great. The only thing I can't get working is the 'stop' routine, I have done exactly what you described but for some reason it isn't working so it times out naturally after a minute or so. Also brief mode wont work on any of my alexas so I get an 'OKAY' every time it starts the video which is just a minor annoyance.
The exact same thing happens to me. Can’t figure out the “stop” routine and my Alexa also says “okay” before showing the feed. Have you found a fix, by chance?
Change STOP to STOP blink doorbell (or whatever your camera is named).
Everything worked except the part that turns off the doorbell. Using the "stop" command in the custom option failed every time. I had to enter "stop blink doorbell", for whatever reason using the single word "stop" would not work. Thank you though for all of the rest of the setup instructions, works great, I even have my echo dot as the doorbell ringer, and I turn a light in the house on and off as well. Neat stuff
Thanks so much. This was driving me crazy. Works as you described.
Thank you for this 🎉
Great video, thank you! The only downside I have experienced with this is that when the bell is pressed and the echo show automatically shows the feed, it can't be accessed by the blink app on the phone. Which isn't the end of the world when you're at home, but when you're out and about, you can't see who's at your front door on your phone as the echo show is streaming the feed so the blink app on the phone says system is busy. Makes the doorbel sort of redundant when you're away from home.
Is there a way around this or is this something a user has to live with if they set up their echo show with blink doorbell in this way?
To be completely honest, I'm surprised Amazon haven't made the echo show the blink display as automatically on doorbell press without having to set up a routine.
good points thanks for raising this issue. I wonder if a routine can be set to disable these routines when you leave home or are in the back garden.
maybe you have set it up incorrectly - I have received the video on my echo show 8 & on my phone app
@@pats7084 what echo do you have? and is your phone android or iphone?
No on a basic plan its one device which is around 30 gbp a year or the plus plan is unlimited devices is around 100 gbp a year thats the way around it
I have the same concern, unable to see if someone is at my door when I am away from home on my iPhone. Is there anything you can do to change that?
Brill thank you, I had to change my doorbell name back from Portal to the Waking World though lol.
Sometimes my feed opens in a small window and then will only close manually (or wait 5mins for a camera error) which drains the battery. Is there a way of forcing full screen all the time?
Nice! This is the level of information Amazon should be providing. Thanks a ton sub'd
Very helpful, thanks. My Show 8 is also saying that my "Blink doorbell doesn't support that". Does it need the little hub type device to provide this function?
Sorted... had to change the name of the device to include Blink!
@@passound6953 how come? would you please help me, mine also says "blink doorbell doesn't support that" I have an echo show 8
Hi Daniel, maybe you can help me. I make all setups but alexa is not automaticly opening the doorbell camera. When I go to alexa and say alexa open doorbell it open the camera. When I put a routine to do that alexa says this is not supported. I done everythign from start by deleting even the blink connection but it keeps saying in the routine window that alexa is not supporting the doorbell. But as i told you alexa see the doorbell get notifications and you can even open the camera. So something is really wrong.
Really helpful ty
Do you need to have the sync module ?
Wow,
thank you!
It worked great! Thank you! I have two more Echo Show 5s and it doesn’t work for the three of them at the same time. Is there a way to have the live video in all the devices?
Have you tried to create a routine for each device separately?
@@DanielWestow I have the same issue, and made routines for each device. It works only if just a single device's routine is enabled.
I was able to get the blink doorbell to project to the Echo Show 8, however I am not able to get the doorbell to turn off with the last routine command. Ive followed the steps as shown in the video but it doesnt seem to work on my end
Question, I called support and in order to view the live feed when the doorbell is rang on the Echo Show, you need a Sync Module for the Blink Video Doorbell?
thankyou super helpful xx
You're so welcome!
Do you have to own the sync module devise for this to work?
Thank you very much!!!
You're welcome!
i thought i was an issue that i had with mine, because i had a ring doorbell which autonatically did this without me doing anything, it seems the blink doorbell doesn't have this integration out of the box. thanks for the solution
Might help others who are having problems...whenever I make changes to a routine or setting I have to unplug and plug back in my sync module for it to work .
Hello and thanks for the video. I wonder can you turn on CC. Lots of folks with hearing problems need CC. Thanks
Your welcome, I don't think you can but I will let you know if I figure out how.
Can the Blink Doorbell notification be sent to both the Echo Show and the Blink Mini camera ..and several smartphones?
Do you have the blink module sync 2 aswell???
Very helpful
Great video thanks. The onlt thng that did not work for me was the the turn off after 20 seconds. It just keeps paying the live feed. Must be someting I am missing
Hey thanks for all the great tips you show. I don't think it6the bell cause it's the second bell I get cause I sent the first one back. Can you please help me solve this problem?
thank you for the video. I can's seem to get the stop command to work. i have tried creating a the routine a couple of times but it just doesn't work. you don't hear alexa say okay. the show doorbell routine works fine. any ideas?
I couldnt get "stop" to work also.
