- Here's a flight with the Skyhunter from a couple days ago. I started out flying low over town, then climbed a little and flew out to 8 miles (bettering my old record for distance of 7 miles), then flying home. Fun as usual! I also added a clip showing the ground setup for the flight. .

Here's some affiliate links to the video gear I use from Ready Made R/C:
1.3GHz video transmitters (I use 200, 400, 800, and 1500mW on various planes) goo.gl/Mhq6TW
I recommend this receiver to go with them. I use an older Racewood type they used to sell, but these are supposed to be at least as good with the same Comtech tuners in them. Apparently Racewood is no longer in business, so here's what replaced them: goo.gl/xC2RLx
I use this 8dbi Patch Antenna, it has been my go-to antenna for a long time now, for years! lol I've been out more then 10 miles using one of these and the 800mW vtx listed above: goo.gl/hGmcNS
On the transmitter side, the stock dipoles that come with them work pretty good together with that patch, but if you want slightly better performance and less weight/drag, consider these: goo.gl/CPuFGf - Розваги
this is the coolest thing i think i have ever seen... being able to control a rc plane 8 MILES away from inside your home is AMAZING.
Nice flight and video!! To address the UAV debate, as a private pilot I ask only that UAVs steer clear of known airfields. Think of it though, most likely even a beast like the C152 would completely obliterate this UAV in a collision. Also consider pesky skydivers: those buggers will be like "Jumpers away! Jumpers 2500' west end of airfield!"...and so then there you are flying along in your plane thinking, "right, yayy, invisible people are falling rapidly into the traffic pattern...hope I can spot the chute!" ....and yet that is totally legal.
Amelia Norman totally agree with you and approach will come back and say whatever city area jumpers away at 1 3 thousand use caution. lol falling people is a lot worse than foam airplanes. There are always going to be people hating on this great hobby:/
Amelia Norman I'm a commercial pilot as well nice to meet a fellow pilot:)🖒
😂🤣😂🤣😂
if the govt. can do it, we should be able to as well.
The beautiful green farms, soft buzzing of the plane and wind was hypnotizing enough to put me right to sleep, then... BAM!!! your kids startled me right out of my chair sending me flying through the hallway @ 100mph tumbling down the stairs and right out the front door that I just repaired last week. Great video and happy new year
LMAO Great comment, thanks for the laugh!
Your welcome. Keep flying, its one step closer to endless awesomeness.
HA! The same thing just happened to me! I definitely fell asleep at the 8 mile turn around and then jolted upright and nearly fell out of my chair when the kids started talking. Too funny. Great video! Amazed by the range and quality of the smooth vid.
You do great work on all your Builds and video's, I have enjoyed them all.
Totally AWESOME setup! I've always dreamed of being able to do FPV while sitting in the comfort of my home, AWESOME! Subbed!
This is REALLY good. Very sophisticated. Somebody ought to hire you..like the government or something. You sir, are very accomplished. The best FPV I've ever seen.
Sweet setup dude, really enjoyed the flight.
Awesome! I'm getting my SH ready after it's been sitting over the summer for a long flight.
Outstanding video and set up. Subscribed.
Great flight and awesome FPV ground station setup with the Big screen bonafidepirate
That is an awesome setup!
great video and nice setup! I just bought a second hand Vector and was checking out videos on how it can perform. this one makes me happy...I've bought the right stuff :)
that was smooth flight man!!!!
Beautiful landscape!
great vid, that was a delight :)
love the setup man! hopefully some day I will build something like that
This area your flying is gorgeous
Really nice !
That is seriously hard core. Cheers!
very nice smooth flight man!
***** Thanks!
Outstanding !! Talk about armchair piloting -LOL ! What a great, stable system you've built - BRAVO !
Oh, this is great footage~!!!!
I hope i can make my own FPV system and G/S.
Thank you for your great video and sharing.
Thanks.
Cool! Nice fly! :)
Awesome!
if you love flight/ flying then how can you ever say its boring? beautiful video so clear ,thank you
Nice video, nice flight :-)
Formidable, tres beau vol,j`aime beaucoup toutes tes videos,
Hi there!
Great setup there. My vector just arrived and Skyhunter on the way.
Currently using dragonlink and DOSD on a Penguin. Going to see how the vector does....looks like it will be good.
You have ideal airspace and property. My next place will definitely be purchased with FPV in mind. Cheers,Steve
I pipe your viddys to my big screen TV via Google Chrome. I just love 'em! Thanx for sharing as always!
Yo this flight was awesome
@bonafidepirate, I like your setup. Is there any chance that you could make a video, walking through all your ground station setup and components? thank you, keep it coming...
A tip : watch series on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching lots of of movies these days.
@Davian Abel yup, been watching on Flixzone for since december myself =)
Beautiful
Nice and calm :)
so nice !!!!!!
Yeah my kids think FPV is hilarious too..When
they’re older they may appreciate that this kind of stuff is cutting edge.A bit like there I-Pad that they take for granted.Great video thankyou for shareing.
The indoor ground station with big screen is the shit!
Very very nice!!!!!!!!!!
Hi, just wanted to say nice vid and LRFPV tech. Thanks for sharing as well, hope you can show how you did this so that some can follow or help develop the tech even further. Though as one of the comments suggest, maybe you can do this legally next time by getting an FAA UAV exemption or what ever that is, don't know much about FAA regulations. Though for me, I think you are on the right track. Keep testing, building and sharing, coz this is definitely the wave of the future. Thumbs up.
This is fantastic! Can you imagine the benefits of this? Crop inspection, waterfowl migration patterns, missing person location, police chase. This is great!
That launch though... :D
Very nice
Enjoy it while you can.
i am so jealous of all that open space you have to fly with here in los angeles you have to drive to the desert for that kind of space.
Highlights:
Launch
3:47 - 4:28
5:15 - 5:34
9:40 - 10:05
12:46 - 13:40
17:19
awesome!
Thanks!
Very good, 👍👍👍👍
tht is awesome
Just awesome..... Could you tell us a little about your setup on the plane and on the ground? its amazing do those distances in an urban area and piloting from inside house
Awesome
So thats a 16 mile round trip! Thats Fantastic and that camera vision is so nice and clear, good job man. Your ground station setup is sick, what is that loud humming noise in your FPV Room? I was dying to see the landing.... (-;
Good job!!!!! really impressive precision, I iniciate in FPV but have 5,8ghz system, beware adquiring UHF system for long range fpv.. Tks for video very educational for this technology.
Real nice flight. Beautiful farmland. Allot of people have asked what frequency your using for video. I am curious also. Thanks
Making it look easy
you have a god of a system
What battery did you use?
That was an epic flight man
Way fun
crisp!!!
Love it! So did you just use the DL in the house with no repeater?
I would like to build an FPV plane. I just bought the Ranger EX, and I was wondering what other electronics you are using in addition to the Eagle Tree Vector?
Hello, finishing up my sky hunter.
I saw a video where his video transmitter is above the canopy pod and the dipole is on the back of the fuselage, just forward of the motor. It seems like an easier way of mounting them, but do you think it's a practical way of doing it? Most of the mounts I see is are on the wings.
Be cool - when looking down - if two forward outstretched arms came in view
Beautiful landscape, like the control room, what's the 433 system on the plane?
nice :)
Really need a tutorial and links to everything you have on this. I bought an AeroScout and it would be so cool to have it fpv capable.
I I have a couple do flights on my sky hunter now. I'm running the ezuhf system and a taranis radio.
I have the video transmitter on top behind the canopy pod. The dipole I mounted forward of the motor .
Here's the problem after 4000 ft roughly the RSSI starts dropping off rapidly. Do you think it's because I didn't put the antennas on the wings? Trying not to cut in to the wings.
How feature ritch is the ETV?
Can you program in waypoints ahead of time with the vector or do we still need to use systems such as NAZA or Ardupilot for stuff like that?
bad ass, and from in the house with no issues? Ive thought about trying it, but just have not yet
Mas has a UAV station in his house with 2 cadets looking out for any errors😂😂😂😂😂😂
very stable platform ... reminds me of a P38- Lightning ... i suppose you could add another motor and go faster or carry more
@bonafidepirate How did you find your gain settings for this bird on the ET vector? I am having trouble tuning it to where I want it...do you use expo on your tx at all? What are your gain settings, if you dont mind, I would like a better place to start
What are your gain setting and where did you attach your servo arms ( what hole on them ). I have close to the same setup and seems unstable and touchy
Impressive view from your FPV camera. Most vids show from a much lesser quality, which I don't get. I like your set-up! Also, the confidence is quite apparent being that you were flying from inside your home. What was your procedure for range test? I have Dragonlink but haven't made that attempt yet.
Nice job!
This is exactly what I want to do soon, but building my first quadcopter currently. Could you do a detailed account/tutorial of all equipment used, and how? :)
+owenkilleen I agree and have been looking a quadcopters. Most you can get is 20 some minutes. When you compare to some www.mygeekshow.com/category/episodes/page/3/
Amazing flight and video! What frequency band are you using? and what OSD? thank you.
KIITOS!!
I enjoy watching ur videos, whats ur live fpv cam?
Hi,
Very Nice video ! Can you please tell me how did you reccord the FPV view with the OSD ? (is it your mini backup screen with a DVR inside ? ) Thanks
Do you have an overview of the hardware and software you're using? Would greatly appreciate that! Thanks!
Have you mounted vibe-dempers between motor and fuselage like at the skywalker...?
This is a real video compared to some of the garbage people are posting.
could you show video of your indoor ground station set up
So excited, How do you control it when you can't see where it goes?
That is the best FPV screen ever. Make it yourself comfortable. No tracker installed on your groundstation?
hi did you use gopro here? do you have a video on how did you change sky hunter camera to gopro?
thank you if you will reply
bonafide pirate, what is the camera you are using to transmit video to your goggles? (Not the gopro) Does it do well in low light situations? And what motor are you using for your skyhunter? Thanks for your time my man!
Love your videos! I have the Skyhunter with Eagle Tree Vector. 25mw video transmitter . Vector works great. Video cuts out at about 800 feet. what kind of setup would I need to fly to the limits of a regular 2.4 transmitter and still have a clear video? My ground receiver has dipole antenna and clover leaf, plane has clover leaf. Thanks for any advice you can give me . Rich
Question, I'm using a ezuhf jr with my taranis. I'm making it out about 7 miles before the RSSI seems to low to go any further 30. I have to go to the high mode after about 4 or so miles to keep the RSSI up. Is this about typical? Will the standard uhf give me more distance or I saw you tried a dragon link? I live in the prairie, so there's nothing but open space. I've check everything for interference everything seems fine, other than the ezuhf on high is only putting out 316mw. It specs at 500mw.
I'm looking to be able to manipulate a cameras movement like you have here, can you describe the setup. I'd like to do a multi camera config, forward camera for flight, down and then a pan tilt, using a rc switching module. Also, could you tell me which telemetry module you used. Thanks looks great. I'm jealous
For the camera, you want a pan-tilt mount. You can control the mount either with analog inputs (pots, sliders) on your transmitter, or you can get goggles with a built in head tracking system, like the FatShark Attitude.
Been trying to learn about FPV stuff,
I would gladly follow your affiliate like to purchase this stuff to have my own; but you don't have those kind of links.
Enjoy your videos, what type of video tx/rx do u use?
Maaaaan, thank you for sharing this video. Has to be one of the nicest ones I've seen (fpv). Where is this? I'm from the south (New Orleans), but living in Japan. I hope to get some videos from Japan like this in the future.
I'm a few hours north east of N.O. in central Louisiana. It all looks the same down here... lol Thanks for the kind words!
Oh! So close to home! I've lived in Lafayette too (and Shreveport), but haven't spent much time in the countryside. Louisiana sure is beautiful. Proud it's my home state!
can you share how your getting live video on a monitor and live telemetry on a laptop??
I appreciate all the effort you have gone to showing the ability of the Rmilec UHF system. I have watched all your videos and the very few others that are out there. I just purchased one, and I am working on hooking it up. One question I have is, can it also send the video signal from the camera? I read, or watched a video somewhere a year or so ago that led me to believe that I could have this one system to control a pilot, co-pilot (camera) and video all on one system with long range ability. Being able to control my plane 20 miles away doesn't do much good if I can't see where I'm going.
Nice image quality. What kind of camera were you using?
can you tell me what cameras you're using and how you are recording your OSD? it's super clear. thanks!
I guess this settles it, I need to buy a skyhunter.
Hey Bonafidepirate, what motor, esc, and battery packs are u using in the skyhunter?? Im going to be doing a build of this airplane soon. I would like to have your input! greatly appreciated!
I'm using a 900kv motor with an 80amp esc and 4s 10,000 mah and sometimes I'll use 2 of them in parallel. on a single pack of 10,000mah 4s with motor esc and just servos my record flight time was 1 hour and 50 min. I designed a landing gear for it as well so it brought down the flight time a tad but not by much. with it heavy I can get it about over an hour. pulling 10 amps is where u want to be range wise. I know I'm not bonafide but hopefully this will help you out.
jake
what battery are you using? how much endurance can you get? thanks
I've been meaning to ask you for a couple of years now about the LCD TV screen. Did you display your live FPV camera shots on this screen ?
I have bought 2 cmos cameras (little buggers) and while they will display a picture on a 7" lcd, i can't get a picture in my 19" computer monitor. how can this be done ?
my cameras have a composite yellow connector out.
what equipment was used in the setup 1.3 or 2.4
