FAQ's:
1: How much did the entire setup cost?
A: Around £1,500 - £1,700. The expensive components are the googles, radio transmitter, UHF system, Antenna tracker and the GoPro.
2: How did you make the Skywalker grey?
A: I used multi purpose grey primer spray paint from my local DIY store. No prep was needed and it took 3 coats I think. Its easy to damage the paint work so laminating it afterwards probably would have been a good idea.
3: What is the all up weight (AUW)?
A: Around 2.8kg with 10,000mAh on board.

This is awesome, landscape view from the sky so beautiful. Love it
Thanks for watching :)
Definately one of the best fpv vids ive seen, the song is a bit thrashed but also is selmonella dub and they still great for summer tunes I guess. Great video bud, keep it up
+Adrian Paul Thanks Adrian
Very nice video, the description of your material is very interesting, I like a lot.Thx for sharing that.
Thanks for the comment, glad you find the list useful :)
Always love seeing a RC plane with a pitot tube! I hate the skywalker. Mine had its wing break over nothing I consider bad. Your flight was beautiful!
Sorry to hear about the issue with yours, mine has survived ok. I still have it here but hasn't been flown in a long time.
Brilliant flight Adam, really enjoyed that, there are very few proper plane videos now the worlds gone 250 quad crazy :)
Coyote FPV Thanks Coyote :) nice to receive positive feedback from such an advanced FPV'er as yourself
I really god video to learn from. Thanks for posting such a quality video Adam. Super smooth flight as well. Cheers my friend.
Aero Mondo You're welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully I will be able to upload some new Skywalker flights in this format again soon :) thanks, Adam
I will be on standby man. Your flights and channel are super!!! I just subbed ... cheers mate!
Aero Mondo Thanks :) i have some fun flights planned...
Oh cool .. looking forward then. I subbed your channel. Cheers man.
Like the musc/audio ppe thru. Sounds cool to me.
Glad you liked it :)
Really well done Adam. All the best Western (Mark) from the Mad Dogs meet.
Mark Burgess Thanks Mark, was good to meet you.
nice flight! you are really getting the equipment working well, and stretching your wings!
let me know when you are ready to move onto a next gen airframe to fly for 4hrs on a charge, and carry more equipment too!
FPVREVIEWS Thanks :) not sure I can cope with a 4 hours FPV flight though haha.
Adam Glenis you get tired, hungry, and have to pee.. it's rewarding though..
seriously, though, a more stable airframe makes a lot of difference in pilot fatigue. lower pilot workload is a large factor, and my project has a low workload. still thinking about going completely autonomous.
+FPVREVIEWS "Pilot workload"? LOL you make it sound like this is a freakin scheduled comercial flight where you have to fly, navigate, communicate, do the paperwork, deal with cabin crew and pax speeches. This is FPV RC, for god's sake, not a British Airways 747.
+corisco tupi pilot fatiuge is a real thing, you can build some resistance to it, but after you hit the barrier, pilot performance drops significantly. The plane i am flying is used for commercial work, so it's more like the airliner than a toy. there is also the payload to operate, and, yes there are weather changes in flight, and navigation to be done. wind direction changes at altitude, and records to keep for post flight analysis. that's how test flights are done, and how advancement is made. piloting, while maintaining spacial orientation and situational awareness is part of safe FPV flying, even for fun, and it is taxing. most fpv pilots don't fly for more than 1 hr or so, even if they can fly longer. an airframe which is spirally stable , and stable in all 3 axis is a big help, unless you have a flight stabilization system, and even if you have one, it's more efficient to fly the airplane without it, assuming it's stable, as mentioned. there is a lot to this hobby, the more you get into it, these might just be toys to some people, but he majority of fpv pilots take their flying pretty seriously, and make constant improvement.
+corisco tupi pilot workload, and fatigue are related, as i'm sure you know.
the more stable the airplane, and the less effort required to control the aircraft, lets you concentrate on your work, and reduces your workload. if you have something else you call it, or another way to say it, i understand.
Amazing video , I wouldn't have the guts myself !, keep flying.
Ah you'd be surprised. Once you've got confidence in your kit its easy
wow, awesome video ,i liked it so much Adam bro ;)
Thanks for the comment, check out my other videos for similar flights :)
Sure bro ;)
Wow what a nice bird you got there thanks for sharing
i have the same plane but no dragon link box, i absolutely cannot WAIT to maiden. your flights are dope and thanks for sharing the setup. i am going to try a few of the parts u suggested. :)
Cheers Anthony, glad your enjoying my vids and finding the kit list useful. You'll be up in the air making flights like this in no time :)
if you're up for a challenge you can get a flying wing, cover the top in solar cells and use raspberry pi to connect with 3g or 4g. 3g and 4g can send and receive video, controls and information.
Beautiful!!!!
thank you for your sharing.
+piperman2010 Thank you, i'm glad you enjoyed it :)
This is ♡ thing.
Thanks :)
hi.. great video. I'm amazed how crystal clear your video feed is at that distance. I'm using 600mw 5.8 and can go about 5km with a cheapo Aomway helical but things are quite fuzzy at that distance. I was going to get a circular wireless helical but maybe I should just go 1.2 after watching this....
+Chris Flory Thanks Chris :) Yeah If you're looking at doing long range 1.2 is better. Will give you more penetration and allow you to fly lower and further. Conditions and locations are also factors, I can't go out to 10k and it be this clear every day.
+Adam G does FPV I think I'd be happy with a clear 6 or 7km. 5km even is enough but right now I can only really enjoy the first 2 or 3km. do you really need the tracker with that xhair if you are flying straight out and back or just because you like to fly all around? I've been trying to avoid getting one tbh because of the added complexity.
Well with 1.2g those goals are very easily achieved. With a Crosshair antenna 7km is no problem at all even double that is easy if the conditions are ok and there are no sources of interference. For the flights were you're going straight out and back again, no need for a tracker, I have it because I like the freedom to go in any direction I like and to change my course without thinking. Start without... build up to it once you're ready or you decide your flying style requires it :)
Love these long range FPV my phantom 3 advanced maxed out at 15km out and back
Not bad for a quad
Really enjoyable video... thanks.
Thanks for the comment John, glad you liked it :)
Nice views, M42/M40 junction and of the lake at Earlswood?
;-)
goodnight friend'm starting at fpv already some time ago that I am the project seeks to ride my SW my equipment and very similar to its'm riding slowly because here in Brazil everything and more expensive like that if possible you were helping me with my project taking some doubts because my goal and fly 10 km from already thank you very much ...
+Wagner Rosa Dos Santos Hi Wagner, if you have any questions just let me know and i will try and help. Adam
Here are my dream specs.
Nice Flight
+Filipe Moreira Thanks Filipe
Brilliant!
Thanks :)
Skywalker definitely seems to be a solid long distance flyer. I'm gonna have to get one eventually. Sidenote: You live in a very flat region. What's with that? Does it just go on like that forever?
+nicfishn1 Iys in West midlandss, England, but its not all like that. Google Earth is a great tool for FPV. You can create a path and see its change in elevation on a graph.
Show man!! Congratulations!!
+Roberto C. de Oliveira Thanks Roberto
Great flight !
Thank you :)
Ohhh show
3:37 Mark Felton has entered the chat.
Hey mate... this is a beautiful flight! :) keep going ;)
+Lukáš Vaňous Cheers mate :) appreciate the comment
will you please provide the detail for wing airfoil shape and the dimensions of wing at each section
Hi, I don't have those details
Hi Adam Glenis !!! what an amazing video!!! i bought a skywalker 1900, but after few test on the field i've got a problem with a motor. the motor it's an ntm 800kw and it drains 10 ampere than 17 with a 9x6 prop. The skywalker climb with difficulty ehehe.. btw i bought your same motor, the turnigy aerodrive SK3 1050kw. I hope that this motor will better than the ntm 800... I've got your same configuration with two 4s 5000 and one 3s 3000 for the avionics. But i see that this motor has got a shaft near the three wires. i would like to know what did you do to put this motor to the skywalker. did you remove the shaft? did you dig inside the epo to fit correctly the shaft inside the skywalker? thank you very very much!!!
Alex.
+AleZakko Hello, Thank you for your comment, fou some reason i only just saw it now. With my motor i used a drill bit to dig out a hole by hand for the shaft of the motor to fit inside the EPO. At no point did i need to remove the shaft of the motor. As you can see from my video the skywalker climbs really nice and quickly with this motor and a 9x6 prop :)
Great Video thanks!
Thanks :)
1.3 vs 1.2 thoughts? slightly further range with 1.2 but i thought the harmonics with 2.4 might mean something bad? I havent bought mine yet. thanks for the advice in advance again... and I will keep watching looking for more insight :)
Hi, 1.2 or 1.3 are both the same really. using either with 2.4ghz control is not really idea, it'd be much better with Dragonlink, Crossfire etc. Cheers
amazing rc plane...
Yeah it's a cool bit of kit. Bit different from the old school LOS flying :)
Why aren't you using an eagletree vector? I'm new to fixed wing so am curious. I was thinking of getting one for my build that's all.
Everyone has different requirements when they buy an AP. At the time I liked all of the features of the Tornado and it was about 1/3 of the cost of a Vector. My AP of choice these days is the MFD AP
As always, I’m a huge fan of your posts! Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks for the support, I appreciate it :D
Adam - sorry for replying to an old video, but how did you get the RSSI to display on the Tornado OSD? Some sort of converter? I'm currently using a D8RII+ (FrSky) receiver but pondering buying an EzUHF receiver - is the RSSI sent via PPM?
Hi Steve, sorry for the slow reply it's been a hectic week. So I used a Dragon Link receiver with analogue RSSI output. I had to connect a single cable on the signal pin to the RSSI port on the Tornado. Then you have to configure the MIN and MAX in the Tornado settings, so hit SET on the MAX when the tx is on, and then hit SET on the MIN with the tx switched off. Hope this helps.
Nice Video and good flight. Did you use pixhawk?
+John John Thanks John :) No I used a Cyclops Tornado. For a full setup overview check out my narrated video here: ua-cam.com/video/Wyky6my9yFY/v-deo.html
Thanks Adam! great video!
hey there i'm very interested in what you have for your flight data and how do u get that type of range id love to be able to do 30 minute flights.... please let me know and if its not too personal could u throw out a ballpark of what all that costs and how much it would cost me to get that setup and that type of distance that is astonishing,
i just have a cheap flamewheel 450 knockoff that cost 500$ cuz i bought it when the whole quadcopter thing was coming to be popular i think even before they officially released the original phantom... i come w a flysky fc but i purchased for 300$ the naza lite flight controller w gps but the guy who set it up didnt tell me how to calibrate it or anything so i cant keep it in the air it drifts like crazy and i have a nice spektrum dx6 controller should be more than enough but it wont let me make changes or adjustments on the fly with the little calibration clickers, even though i dont know what they do, would u happen to know how i can mount a fpv camera i have or get a gopro feed or something i just know how to make it fly right for a couple minutes its supposed to return home if i flick a switch or if i shut it off its supposed to come home and sometimes will just start to fly away, also wobbles a ton when i let the throttle down and try to descend...
please if u have a buddy or some site that can help me out i would appreciate it... also if u can let me know the downlink and transmitter and antenae and other equipment ur using to get such an awesome distance w clear display... usually the mini quads and stuff have tons of static and interference.
i enjoy watching your videos, impressive, what channel or frecuency are you using in vtx?, and why you don´t mount the vtx in wings?. thank you.
Hi, thanks for the comment :) im using 1200 for video. I didn't mount the vtx in the wing as I wanted the wings to be free of electronics for easy assembly in the field. However, I have mounted the electronics in the wings on my newer plane (Skyhunter) and have decided it is worth the extra effort.
just noticed your vulcan video at Leeming.. where abouts are you based? I'm in Stockton but used to live in Catterick. not many people doing fpv around here so always interested to find somebody doing it locally.
+Chris Flory I think thats not my video but one I liked... by a user that I know from FPVHUB. You should check out that forum as i'm sure you will find local fliers to join you... or even events you can attend :)
+Adam G does FPV ah I see, thanks :-)
Hi Adam. Was it painted or laminated? I really like the color and the whole thing looks like a real aircraft rather than a foam made toy😂
Hey, check out the FAQ's in the vid description as it covers a few topics like the paint. Basically the aircraft is painted using a multi purpose grey primer from local DIY store. Its not laminated but this would have been a good idea to protect the paint as it is easy to damage.
Great flight.
Jake Bullit Cheers Jake. Do you FPV fixed wings or just multi-rotors?
Both Adam,FX61 ,Bix 2 and quads.
Jake Bullit Nice. My dad built an FX61. Its final flight was its maiden :-/
with all the GPS equipment and electronics, is there a way to pre-program a designated flight route for the autopilot so as to enable the plane to loiter over a specific area?
Xs Biggy yeah this is possible with most autopilots. Both that I use can do this very easily 👍🏼
What the name of that lake (reservoir) at 2:04 .Is it by any chance called pants lake or something RELATED.
No it's Earlswood Lake
The DVR in your description is out of stock, now what am I supposed to do? thanks a lot
😆
Very, very nice!
+Waylon Johnson Thanks :)
Would like to ask if you think an APM 2.8 would work well in a 4lb balsa TaylorCraft which is a high wing trainer style plane? I've used APM's on multirotors before so I'm familiar with setup and everything, but never attempted using one in a fixed wing though I know it's capable.
Sorry I don't have experience with the APM. Maybe the forums will give you a better answer than I can. Cheers
I've done quite a few google searches and nothing seems to turn up too be of any use about using APM in fixed wing except the setting up information on Ardu's website and how to wire everything up properly, I am confident I can get all the hardware setup properly and get through the software setup
Dear
I bought an antenna tracker Arkbird brand, and my question is this: I have the Syclops Storm and need to install this antenna tracker to my station.
you know how to install it?
and connect the module to the DSB Arkbird airborne?
It is required to place a second GPS module on the plane?
Sincerely
Marcelo Paredes
Chile
Darren Neale Firstly, I don't know why you are the only UA-cam user that does not have a 'Reply' option below your comment :-/
Anyway, I glued the supplied motor mount to a bigger piece of plywood. I then drilled 4 holes the diameter of BBQ skewers, pushed some in and glued them in place. After mounting the motor I then pushed it onto the fuselage without glue to make the holes, removed it, added glue and then pushed them back in. Picture here probably makes more sense:
postimg.org/image/xul3kwlrj
+Adam G does FPV Hey man. Im currently collecting parts for my skywalker setup.
I also bought the SK3 3536 1050kv. When Iam using a 4s LiPo and a 9x6 prop the motor starts to scream like crazy at about 250-300W power consumption. With a 4s and a 8x6 Prop however its fine and consumes about 515 Watts. So its power maximum.
I thought about getting a 800kv motor to run my 9x6 props with 4s instead of this 1050kv motor.
Do you also had problems with your combination? (btw. a 9x6 is overloading the motor @4s but my screaming is still not normal. Maybe because of the 40A Plush ESC? It never came close to 40A and timing did not change much really)
Greetings.
+FreakSX93 Mine is super smooth all the time, even at full throttle... but it does pull close to 45 amps which makes me think its your 40a ESC that is the issue. I'm running the 60A Plush ESC. Never had any problems :-/
+Adam G does FPV because he refused to get a google+ account
Cheers for the info :)
Video link was really impressive, even allowing for the Tracker etc....The Lawmate stuff looks like its fairly well made on the outside, what do you think of the build quality, is it good?
EnglishTurbines I have to say using this gear my video link is consistently performing as it did in this video. Its always reliable and clear. The build quality of the Lawmate gear seems good so far, I've had no reason to doubt it as of yet :)
Thanks for the info, can you amend your kit list on the ground though ?...I dont think you have listed your Video receiver?...:)
EnglishTurbines Thanks for pointing that out :) I've updated it to include:
-Lawmate R1200 Plus 1.2ghz VRx.
wow what a cool FPV flight ! what is your uhf to get such a good rssi ? And is it a cyclops osd ?
BlueMan FPV Cheers mate :) My UHF is a Dragonlink V2 running the NextGen firmware and the the OSD/Autopilot is the Cyclops Tornado running v1.1. I have now updated the video description with a full spec.
Adam Glenis cool thank you ;) are you using a gopro ? Hope you will continue videos this way
BlueMan FPV You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it. Yes it is a GoPro 3+ Black. I plan to make plenty more FPV videos like this one :)
Do you need any radio certifications for these frequencies?
Awesome flight, thanks for share it, do you know the total weight with batteries included?-.
+Sergio Giaccone Thanks :) total battery weight it 1.1kg. 2 of these: www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/%5F%5F26740%5F%5FTurnigy%5F5000mAh%5F4S%5F25C%5FLipo%5FPack%5FUK%5FWarehouse%5F.html
hey adam really great vids. Im looking for a drone just like that, you dont mind sending part list of plane and ground station.
plz.
Hey, check out the video description, full parts list with links is all there
Greetings! Please tell me where i can get such an antenna!? Exactly, this automatic tracker? I very need it!
Hi, full setup and kit list with links are in the video description 😃
nice video....
what kind of Return to Launch did you used, and where can I buy it?
thank you.
+rrene gadoo Cyclops Tornado: www.foxtechfpv.com/cyclops-tornado-osd-p-1309.html
What's the altitude on the screen?
Hi, can you tell me all the components that you used in this video for have these distance. I want know what rc controller you use and the FPV system. Thanks
ISAI ABINADAB ROCHA SEGURA all in the video description :)
Hi Adam!
Did you use 4s battery connected directly on Cyclops OSD?
No, the video port needs 12v. You’ll need to use a 12v BEC between 4S and Cyclops.
Are you using the mfd tracker for 5.8 video feed? I'm thinking of getting it for mtd that has a pixhawk and 1.3ghz video. Will it work on the 1.3?
I use the tracker for 1.2ghz. You can tell by the antenna size, 5.8 is tiny in comparison to my crosshair
Hello Adam,
Is your setup underpowered because i have about the same setup in my e do sky eye doing 520 watts and thats underpowered for me.
It's not very powerful, but I only ever used this as a gentle cruiser, so it never bothered me :)
Hey, How much would all the setup including ground station cost? Thank you mate your my inspiration.
+BlueflashGaming1080p Thanks for your comment, i'm glad my video has inspired you :) The entire setup cost me around £1,500. But if this sounds expensive to you, don't let it put you off. You can build an amazing FPV plane for a LOT less.
+Adam G does FPV How much do you reckon a decent fpv setup costs?
That's really hard to answer. It really depends what you want to do with it and what features you require. If you want to get started with something low cost to see if you enjoy it you could try something like this: www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__78977__HobbyKing_8482_Mini_Skyhunter_P_P_with_FPV_Set.html?strSearch=mini%20skyhun
Thanks!
greate flight dude! 😀
+Johnny Nilsson Cheers Johnny :)
Very nice! Can you tell me what fpv cam do you use?I can't find it.
Hi, the one i used in this video isn't available any more, but there are much better cameras available now, I use this one in nearly all of my FPV aircraft: goo.gl/ZWt312
Thank you very much for your reply! I didn't expect you to reply so quickly.Thank you! Can you tell me your settings about foxeer hs1177?
No problem :) I used the settings in this video: ua-cam.com/video/uWJw_yiSCNI/v-deo.html
If I have any more questions,I'll ask you again. Thanks again.
Keep fpv flying!!!!
I need to get this out for another flight soon 😊
I wish you the best!!!!
Do you FPVers have a place where you meet and fly? ex quad flyer entering the hobby
Check out FPVhub if you're in UK. I live in Ireland and there is a Facebook page.
Which bldc are you using and its ratings please.
i am going to use skywalker 1900 with almost same payload that you have (and a pixhawk autopilot).
I am having hard time making decision which should i use.
+Mandeep Singh also the propeller rating please
+Mandeep Singh I don't know what you mean by 'bldc'. The propellor is an APC 9 x 6
Hello
best regard.
I would like to know how to record without any interference. I fly in 1.2 Mhz and I can't.
I would like to know what the secret is.
Thank you.
Hi Nelson, unfortunately there is no secret here. Have you considered that there is interference on 1.2g in the area you are flying?
If you haven't got any faulty components and have good antenna separation, you should be getting good video.
can MDF be used with a different OSD. i prefer the layout of Vector for the moment
shadowsrwolf Yes you can use the MFD antenna tracker with any OSD. I am using the Cyclops Tornado OSD in this video but on board is also a TeleflyPro OSD (comes included with the tracker). The TeleflyPro OSD is wired in series with the Tornado and is used simply to transmit the GPS coordinates back to the tracker in the video signal, and i have its OSD overlay switched off. With your Vector you would have the video signal cable wired like this:
FPV Cam ---> TeleflyPro ---> Vector ---> Vtx
Hope this helps
ok cool good to know
Nice!!!
Thanks :)
Hi, do you use the 1.2Ghz or 5.8Ghz transmitter and receiver?
卢卡斯贝 1.2. Check out the video description. Everything you want to know is there
Did you paint the plane are buy it in that color? Everywhere I see the white color that they sell.
+Afiso This was white when i go it. I used multi-purpose grey primer spray paint from my local DIY store for this finish :)
+Adam G does FPV Nice color. Thanks for the info.
No problem :)
How do you feel about your MFD AAT? I've been looking at the Arkbird AAT, which is about $100. less, and wondering which one is best? Thanks.
+Glenn Doney I can't really comment on the Arkbird as i haven't used it and i don't know anyone that has. However, most people on the forums i'm on use the MFD AAT. Its got a great reputation and I am very pleased with mine, performs faultlessly. As you can see in this video, I fly all different directions from myself and always a crystal clear video feed. I definitely recommend it.
+Adam Glenis Thanks Adam. awenzl (youtube channel) has been doing vids lately on it. But I've been curious about whether it's possible to use an AAT for BOTH the video and control link without the signals interfering. As cool as the AAT is at providing great video in all directions, what if the control link antenna could tag along in tandem with video antenna? What if I placed my LRS Moxon beam above my video Crosshair? hmmmmmm...
+Glenn Doney I have had the same thoughts. I currently use a diamond antenna on my UHF so its not directional. I get the feeling it might place the 2 antennas too close to each other? I might order a Moxon soon but can always pop the goggles off for a moment to see which way the AAT is facing to get an idea which way to point the Moxon when I'm far out. Out flying tomorrow hopefully :)
+Adam Glenis That's a good idea to manually adjust the moxon to aim where the aat is pointing...hadn't thought of that. The Moxon is supposed to be 160 deg. so it should be pretty easy to keep it aimed, especially if I keep a close eye on the RSSI. Tx.
Nice flight man, what CG your running 100mm? Wondering where you have your batterys placed? Great video and channel, Sub's...:)
Cheers
eastcoast78 Thanks for the comment :) I will try get a photo for you soon to show battery location, I think the COG is a little further forward than its meant to be but i can't shift the batteries any further back than they are.
Adam
+eastcoast78 sorry for slow reply on this. Here is a pic of my battery location postimg.org/image/682dsqbu7/
Cool, no worrys on the late reply. What batterys are they again? i run a 4s 8000mah and mine needs to be back further then yours. But when i run 2p4s3300mah there sitting around where yours are shown in the pic. Cheers.
+eastcoast78 This is the exact battery: www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__26740__Turnigy_5000mAh_4S_25C_Lipo_Pack_UK_Warehouse_.html
what is your antenna tracker? where did you get it?
Hi Frank, it's the MyFlyDream tracker. You can buy it from MFD themselves or from other retailers like BEVRC. Great bit of kit, highly recommend it :)
Did you have any import taxs or uk customs problems to deal with when you ordered from Readymade rc
+Ironiic zero No problems, but occasionally you might get a tax added. This is quite random but applies to all deliveries outside of the UK.
+Adam G does FPV oh okay thanks
HI MATE THANKS FOR THAT INFO..WIRED IT UP AS PER DIAGRAM, BUT USED A SPARE GPS WHITCH IS OF MYFLY DREAM AUTOPILOT ,, USEING THAT ON THE TRLRFLYPRO, ALL WORKING TRACKER RESPNDING GROUND TEST ONLY,, CHEERS
+bryan bailey Cool glad the info helped. Most people don't normally have the luxury or a spare GPS laying around hence they tapping into the Tornado GPS. If it's working on the ground it sounds like you're good to go :)
I had nearly that exact setup but with 4s8ah and found it was so heavy it always handled like shit, yours seems so stable or is it just aided all the time by PA?
+miodice3 No its really stable even when flying manually. I use PA as its more relaxing and i don't wonder off course. Sounds like your COG might have been a bit off?
+Adam G does FPV possibly, I also had a crappy no name motor on there too and it was probably not powered sufficiently. now that I think back on it I was flying it at a fairly tight field and it may have just felt really fast and out of control. I just never got it locked in and the control surfaces always seemed way too small. I always debate getting another one, but ive crashed 2.
Bigger open space is definitely a lot less stressful when learning to fly and makes it a lot easier. If you want something super stable you should consider the My Twin Dream.
+Adam G does FPV I will think about it, those look pretty sweet. Ive always wanted a skyhunter too. so many options I cant decide. sick video though good job on it!
Hi, what kind of antenna are you using to send the plane away?
Hi, not too sure which antenna you mean, video or control and which end? Either way, there is a full list of the kit I used in the video description 😃 thanks
@@AdamGdoesFPV Can you tell me the full list of video and control antennas, thank you.
Could you please tell how can drones can communicate in hilly areas!?
In terms of video and control links, you will need to be careful that you don't break line of sight too much or you will lose communication with the aircraft. You should also google fresnel zone and watch a video on this to understand how you can lose signal in hilly areas. Flying in risky areas, ensure you have an AP and set the failsafe to RTH. Also check the way altitude is controlled by your AP when entering failsafe/RTH.
@@AdamGdoesFPV thanks for reply! :)
@@AdamGdoesFPV brother can you provide your contact no or anything ,I need your help on my delivery drone project
HI MATE I USE THE MFD TRACKER LIKE YOUR SELF,, IME USEING A TORNADO HOW DID YOU MANAGE TO USE THE TELEFLY PRO IN SERIES TO BE ABLE TO TRACK,, ANYINFO MUCH APRECIATED
+bryan bailey Hi Bryan. You need to supply the telefly pro with 12 v power. You also need to supply it with GPS data, which is done by tapping into the Tornado's gps data cable and making it into a Y connector. Then you need to cut the video cable between the camera and your tornado, the camera is connected to the 'video in' of the telefly, and then the video out of the telefly is connected to the tornado. My wiring diagram shows hwo this is done: postimg.org/image/sqermg5m1
+Adam G does FPV Also be careful when tapping into the Tornado's GPS cable, as the data cable was the black one on mine, not the yellow/white you would ussually expect to contain the data.
como é feito esse monitoramento de voo? altura distancia bateria e sinal?
Using an autopilot with on screen display. I used the Cyclops Tornado.

Hey adam where was this filmed and flown
This was in Birmingham. I wouldn't fly like this again over houses etc, this was one of my first flights when i didn't really know the rules.
Yeh this is what i have been wondering why you did
RULES!!! my easystar flew off from my flying field and i found it up a cows arse! seriously you know what can happen, that's why you have a sick setup. I see dronesAreUs could not work out the coordinates or what spaghetti junction looks like. Drones tend to fall out of the sky and inflict damage where as foam pusher planes glide off and land in cow shit. FPV planes rule!!!
The thing that makes me laugh when I look at my FPV plane is the whole setup costs around £1k and the actual plane costs £110 haha
+proffesionalretard Haha, yeah its the crazy hobby of buying some cheap polystyrene, loading it up with £hundreds worth of electronics and then flying it into the distance hoping you'll see it again :P
+Adam G does FPV he haha. It's addictive though. The other day I said to myself I'm going to build the new flitetest arrow (foamboard wing) as it costs about £4 to make then I had to buy all the FPV stuff which cost £100
+proffesionalretard haha I can imagine. Also gets addictive once you have the expensive bits like radio, goggles, GoPro, UHF etc as then building another aircraft isn't as expensive
whats the number left from the radio control symbol? % of signal? whats if the signal is 0? thx
Yes its the signal strength (also known as RSSI). I have the failsafe programmed so that the event that I lose my RC link with the plane the autopilot will activate Return to home (RTH).
Wow! it can handle 10km and still have 40%.
+xned xnederer with a different antenna people have used this system to fly over 100km away.
hi adam what your plane wight with thes 2 Batteries ?
+Q8TsyQ8 I'm not sure actually, I haven't weighed it. I will find out for you soon and get back to you...
thank you ..
How long were you in the air for 41km?
48 mins :)
Nice flight and setup but maybe flying long range FPV right in the middle of Birmingham controlled airspace is not the best of ideas.
Nope not a good idea at all. This was back when I first started and didn't know much about the rules. You wouldn't se me doing anything like this for a long time now.
What autopilot did you use?
Back then I used a Cyclops Tornado. Theres a full kit list with links in the video desc.
It's amazing if my plane has a simple range, how can I make it far away if we say 2km to 20km How can I please help me, my friend? If you have a map or a detailed explanation, I will be thankful to you.🌹
You just need to have an RC system capable of long range, most commonly used is a UHF system. An example of a UHF system is the Dragon link.
Would the video quality still be good over mountains and hills
+Billy Greening At the top of them yes, and beyond them yes, as long as you maintain line of sight. If you dip down over a hill and the hill is between the transmitter and your video receiver antenna, your picture will be lost.
+Adam G does FPV Ok thank u Adam that's what I thought but was making sure. Another question is how much was all this in total including ground station?
Billy
Around £1,500. But You can make a really good long range FPV setup for a lot less. Goggles, UHF system, Transmitter, Auto Antenna Tracker are the expensive components.
Qué tipo de transmisor de vídeo utilizas?
Lawmate 500mw 1.2ghz Video tx ► goo.gl/iv1dHs
wie hast diese Reichweite erreicht? 41 KM ?? das macht keine Fernsteuerung mit... wahnsinn
Adam,
i am willing to make a system that can make it to around 10km range. I just think 1000 euros is to much (1000 is all youre antenna, receiver and transmitter stuf). Youre fpv groundstation is already 550 euros, what if i wouldnt use the ground station/ antenna tracker.... would i be able to reach athleast 7km with fpv and my transmitter?
Do you maybe have an example of some components that cost me about 500 euros that can reach 7 maybe 10km?
1.2ghz video gear with a directional antenna like mine will get you 7km easy. Then you need a UHF system like the Dragonlink for control, or the L9R FrSky receiver will probably work too. the rest is all personal choice. Can be done for way less than 1000. I'd recommend the mini Talon. Very cheap but a solid long range plane.
Adam G does FPV thanks for your reply, it actually is for a hexacopter. if i have a directional antenna, i'd also need a signal follower. i am so sorry for asking so much but can you give me a link for An: fpv 1.2ghz system with a receiver and transmitter, a good antenna for these 2.
a link for a good frsky thing you mentioned earlyer and a good receiver and transmitter for these with antennas?
i am sorry for asking this much but i couldnt find any good video's about this on a budget.
and if i have a lot of Trees but the antennas are above the Trees, then the signal doesnt get interrupted by the Trees right?
sorry for my bad english and dont awnser this way to big message if you dont want to, thanks.
Greet from the netherlands
where did u buy the plane?
+bill hiscock Hobbyking.com. They stock it in many different countries.
Dun dun dun dun... dun dun dun dun dun...
$ALE!
what is your exatli video transmiter ?
Hi, full list of parts with links are in the video description
sorry, ok thank ! ;)
No problem :)
