So happy to see this update! I found your original video when I was trying to find a way to stop paying for Farmers Dog or Fresh Pet. I have an 11 year old retriever and she has lost a good amount of weight and has started jumping on the bed again after a few months on this diet. The transformation is unbelievable. We rotate protein and I add in fish and blueberries as well. We go through so many sweet potatoes I am thinking of growing them in my garden. Best of luck with the new home.

I have been making this food for my Buster, 13 yo, who has a brain tumor & seizures. He is on the no barb it'll for his seizures. I basically started making his food to spoil him in the time he has left. He LOVES this food. I actually give it to him 3-4 times a day. I actually don't want him to lose weight. I feel it's healthier for him to maintain where he's at because of his health issues. He's at 65 lbs. We have recently added CBD to his diet because of the anxiety he is experiencing. It has helped him to come out off his seizures without the 3 hours of pacing he does afterward. Overall his condition has affected his personality but I love him so much. This recipe is wonderful for him. I do add the black pepper & turmeric & I make his calcium as shown in The Buck Stop video. In August Buster will be 14. Yes we are spoiling him & trying to make him as comfortable as we can for however long he has left. Love my Buster

Excellent recipe, we have had to replace the turkey with beef as we adopted a puppy so the turkey was not enough fat or calories for a puppy. We use the turkey for the adult dogs but had to tweak the recipe to make sure the puppy has enough vitamins and calories. ❤❤❤

Sable looks great & lucky to have you! Thank you for sharing your recipes. Your videos are so helpful & I feel confident now to start making my dog food. I have a few questions: How many eggs can I add to this recipe or should I feed my dogs eggs separately? You stated in your other video that you tweaked some ingredients from the recipe the farmer's dog gave you. What changes did you make and why? Thank you again and I hope my little chubby girl gets healthy like Sable.

    • @TheBuckStop

how many eggs depends on how much your feeding - 1 egg a day is what we feed but some days she misses the egg so d not have to be accurate

I found your channel and recipe about 3 weeks ago. My mini Aussie rescue, Peeta is 6 years old and about 10lbs over weight and loves it. Today I'm making a big double batch as I'm also making it for my brother's rescue dog Lambchop, she's a bulldog?Bully breed type. Both are the bestest doggos.🐾💖
I'm looking to start making homemade cat food for my girl Catness. Seems there is a lot more involved in making cat food.
Thanks for sharing such a great recipe.

Thanks for what you do. Have you ever thought about adding the ground meats raw to the cooked veggies and rice - - more of a raw food diet?

I have been making the dog food, because my chahwahwa has allergies also..come to find out it wasn't from the food...what a frinkin merry-go-round, 6 years later find this out..hummm. Like you, I will continue making dog food and treats.. I also found out that if you give your dog 1 pumpkin seed per 10 pounds is a natural dewormer, so I ground them up and used them in the treats I make. (flaxseed and chia seeds too)

We're on week 4 of homemade dogfood for my my year old Goldendoodle. So far so good. Went with Chicken the first three weeks because he loves chicken. We're trying beef this week. So far so good. Only reason I went homemade so soon is because he stopped eating the expensive gently cooked food from the pet store and the Farmers Dog. My boy gets about a cup of food twice per day and of course gets little snacks in between.

Im really glad I found your video, I decided to try farmers' dog because my aussie for almost 8 years has always regurgitated his food, went to several vets to figure it out, and everyone had a different opinions. So I decided to try homemade dog food just to see if he would even like it because my aussie is also a bit picky. I got the trial box, and so far, he has liked it, and im happy, but the price is crazy! So im hoping to give your recipe a try before we finish our trial box from the farmers' dog.

I worried about getting it right. Thank you so much for your videos. I have been wanting to try this for time and I guess I’m just scared of getting it wrong. Thank you

Cream cheese works better and prob less processed. Pills go right in and they swallow it whole.

I am in week 6 of the recipe. (Thank you!) my dog loves it. But so far it has not helped with the obsessive paw licking and scratching. Did you find anything else to help, besides washing the feet? Regardless, I am going to continue home cooking. Especially with the latest kibble “controversy”.

Turkey is neutral in Chinese medicine. Chicken is THE WORST. It’s s hot meat, filthy & causes allergies in many dogs. Beef is the BEST. Cool meat in Chinese medicine and non allergenic. That’s why a beef only carnivore diet has become so popular now. Lamb is great for very active dogs as it’s high fuel. Blueberries are great to add.
    Beware of chicken tho.
Also don’t use cheap fish oil. Rancidity is problematic. Use canned sardines. Cheap & full of omegas.
Lastly ignore vets. They know ZERO re nutrition.
