If you remember years ago??? I found this channel looking for safe ways to fall a tree, about this same size and lean without getting smacked in the face. Well...I am still searching!😁 This technique would have worked well on my tree because it was solid! Thanks for sharing!👍
That is a slick way , another way I was shown was put the notch in , set your hinge as normal an inch or two above the bottom plate of the notch . Once you punch in and set the hinge cut back do there is only a 2or 3inch strap on the back . Drop below your cut 2 or 3 inch and release. Providing you have good experience with the saw and set a good hinge it will release slow every time and won't Barber hair
I've watched you explain this several times. Best explanation yet Wade and a demonstration of the 'why' as she tried to blow all apart. Until someone has had one chair on them, they will never appreciate the skill to get one down safely.
That was an excellent video on how to handle that type of tree especially since it the center was so badly rotten..... I always learn something watching you.... Thanks for the heads up ! Tom Del Casale Excavating
Well you're never too old to learn. Great video sir. Shame the tree wasn't much good. Keep those videos coming. Regards to the family and crew from across the pond
Impressive stuff. I have untold experience but nearly all in all sizes of Pine here in NZ. That tree was a right mongrel. Stay safe man and thanks for the honesty.
Rotten in the middle, we cut simulator to that but we punch about a 16th of an inch above the notch, leave the back to hold it and then cut it at the back. I always look for a new/safe way to fell a tree. Thank you!!
I recently did the same thing with a big mulberry that was leaning hard, rotten, had an old healed split running 10 feet up, AND had bees in it! Worst tree I ever dropped. Your videos are excellent.
Really enjoyed watching you and your family on Ax Men this season..... this whole season was the best I've seen on that show (e.g. lot's of cool, real situations and not a *whole* lot of phony drama :) (dumb) Question please.......... why not just come out the back of the tree with the first plung cut? thx.
Vertical/diagonal cut on the final back strap like with a dog tooth cut would help reduce the splitting at the end, also using a strap or rope around the stem to keep it in one piece.
I kinda learnt that believe it or not on my own but I've had better luck droppin the backcut below the plunge....watch ol daniel Murphys vid where he jumps that big un over a flower bed...when that plate in front of the back cut is left it rocks over it and lobs the tree forward...he shows it in slow mo ands killer....I'm no pro by any means but what I e learned has been through pros on here and bein in the hills by myself cuttin the worst of the worst...if I'd have failed I wouldn't be typin this...many close calls
Hey Wade it,s Bigredscotsman i give a 7 out of 10 got to close young man. Still have,nt figured out where to put the LOGGER WADE plate. When do we get to see the hard core rock truck at work on your vidjas?
I dont get why when you first plunge cut, established yer hinge, you didnt continue all the way back for the back cut....then beat feet...I would have but I dont have yer experience...
Well $h1t. I commented on another vid asking for more details on the how's and why's of your cuts and looky here at what I ran across. Sorry for being one of those people who shoot off at the mouth before realizing they're loaded with blanks. I guess this is what I get for being lazy and not digging a little bit more. Thanks for doing it though.
Wow that one was trieng to get ya old buddy good job those are the ones that the new guys buy the old guys beers to do it for them but hey that's how new guys learn with outloosing there brains
You did your best for what that rotten thing had to offer. We have wondered for the longest time, but is it unsafe to wrap a chain around a tree you know is going to barber chair?
hey hey there Wade with that grade as steep as it is glad your hand falling that timber instead chewing up the hill side . so it must be '"time to rig that small tower now rite? hehehe just yanking your chain
Man I went to go practice cutting barber chairs and can you believe them son of a bucks called the Police on me... guess whenever the cops give me my saw back I’ll have to find somewhere else to get my hair cut. 🙄

Nice man getting em cut👍💯💯
I recently did the same thing with a big mulberry that was leaning hard, rotten, had an old healed split running 10 feet up, AND had bees in it! Worst tree I ever dropped. Your videos are excellent.
Got bees y not wait for a cold day?
Great vidja Wade 👍👍👍
that tree was splittin like that no matter what you did
What’s the advantage to cutting like this vs a traditional bore cut?
Thats what I wonder too
Great info 👍
Good reminder I have a big oak leaner with broke off top still a 50 foot trunk
Very good job....👏👏👏

A strap around the trunk might have prevented a chunk of wood hitting him in the face.
That tree wasn't worth the gas used to cut it down. Glad that chunk of wood didn't hit you in the eye. Y'all be careful out there.
That was total reality. Good job for what it was
Nice tutorial Wade BUT--where's the PPE ?
As the world-famous Paul Harrell says..."DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME,I'M WHAT YOU CALL A PROFESSIONAL AND THANKS FOR WATCHIN'HOW TO CUT A LEANER VIDEO".
