That is the same thing I was taught by my Grandfather when I started cutting. I am from Nova Scotia Canada. I find it amazing how all this knowledge spreads around.
"Ma' daggone saw rolled plum down the dang ditch!" Best line of the video. Had me rolling, no pun intended. I've lost a saw on a tree fall too from time to time. You made my day.
Dude, I dont think you realize how valuable this is. I used it first time this morning on big red oak with rot this morning with bad lean. Jesus christ it worked to perfection. You'd thought I'd been doing it for 15 years.
So with such a good job done, why do you abuse the name of him who loved you into existence and gave you the talents to work with in the first place? Better for you if you can stop that habit ... & if necessary quit the company you keep that encourages it. He has done you no harm to warrant disrespect. Quite the opposite.
One of those comments was for me in the 2nd of July 2022 and I'm sorry cuz I'm watching this video right after I just watched to do that red oak next to the creek and Stevie was filming. Excellent job by the way. So I see this video now so never mind that comment asking to do a video on it thank you very much Wade appreciate this
NICE TRICK to have in the bag.. I can see it working on heard side leaners with pull lines in backyards too! I love a creative solution... necessity is the mother and all that... Would have surprised me if it rolled...
Not only did it happen quick, but the camera was moving all over at the same time. Missed a lot of things going on. Stationary camera would help a lot. Thanks Wade!
I was worried that u would be busy or not at home for the holidays so I told our friend buckin to just send ur axe to me I would make sure u got it ha ha stay safe get logs
west coast logging alex esgate hahahaha!!!! Hey you keep your western hands off my Christmas present!!!! Lol now you gonna have to get a Buckin Special
Now iv had alotta people ask me about how that tripple hinge works and why ya use it but honestly im not smart enough to explain it properly so ya think ya can do one on how you think it works an all the good stuff
Mike Powers i second that. Intuitively I feel like it sorta compartmentalizes that whole chunk of meat so as the stem falls it lessens the chance of the whole chunk snapping off at once and keeps more hinge wood doing work for longer...could be wrong but I like it. One more trick to pull a tree in extreme cases, so I'm happy👌🏼 thanks LW.
Should you do the vertical cuts of a triple hinge across the whole diameter of the tree, or part way through/or unequally across like a tapered hinge??? Also....can you combine it with a Sizwell? I'd love to see a video on that kind of info???
Can you explain in more detail how the triple hinge works maybe do it on a small tree or a stump and just push it over but show and explain how it works.
That was not a "smarch" tree hehe. My old instructors would have a heartattack if they saw that, hehe "saw" focus now, but it works fine for you Wade, we don't have those kind of trees here and I promise not to try it, that looks to be on a serious pro level. (maybe i'll try it in the deep woods where no one can see me, but I will run like an badger on fire. Nice work on explaining.
Now if you would of made a post corner on your bad side and walked the dog around the back side number 1 it would have rolled and number 2 you wouldn't of had to use the 3 hinge it's all the same concept but a fast motion
So the triple hinge is too vertical one horizontal and I'm not sure about that horizontal one I wasn't I didn't see it cut so I need to know how you do that I need to know how big the release strap is also
Good point the release strap is only for utility to hold the tree till time to let your energy free so I look at it in two ways 1) it goes 180°from the tree lean not the hinge 2)make shore its large enough to hold the tree and utilize the outside perimeter wood more than the inside meat of the tree the outside 1" of the tree has way more tensile strength than the center wood
This is not the first time, that I have watched a video from someone who I had subbed to a long time ago, only to find out that the video hosting website has apparently deleted my subscription, ad it is now offering me to sub now!!!🙄.... Oh well.... can't fight City Hall...just hit sub again....two years later.....and hey, Wade, great clip by the way!!!😉 Triple Hinge!👍👍👍(It didn't roll cause it was SHIT wood.😏)
hell tater I ain't no logger but that sumbuck looked crooked as a 3 legged dog that's been hit by a trains pecker! lol but seems to me u did a fine job!! driver! sho nuff!! ;-)
Please remake that video when you have time, the footage was not good. Stop selling yourself short Logger Wade. You're as good as the best timber cutters. Everyone has bad days, but the others do not have all the headaches as you do, their only job is cutting trees, yours is running a large company with a lot of employees plus cutting trees and running and fixing all the equipment.
That is the same thing I was taught by my Grandfather when I started cutting. I am from Nova Scotia Canada. I find it amazing how all this knowledge spreads around.
Darren Rhodenizer hahaha that's great to hear bud
Yeah, that's great that good old American work habits found their way up there.
Ya and before the advent of the Internet

Detailed video with professional explanations. Clear language and footage from Hollywood!
As Dolly Parton says “the opposite is true”

Great Video!! Used the triple hinge the first time to day on a leaning, dying ashe tree. Worked great.. TY
NICE TRICK to have in the bag.. I can see it working on heard side leaners with pull lines in backyards too! I love a creative solution... necessity is the mother and all that... Would have surprised me if it rolled...
Would love to see you make all the set up cuts, love that stuff and seeing how others do things different.
StihlAddict44 thanks bud
this might be my favorite logger wade vidja
Not only did it happen quick, but the camera was moving all over at the same time. Missed a lot of things going on. Stationary camera would help a lot. Thanks Wade!
Love to see more of these 💪
William I'm making a bunch but they won't be on for another month or two check back if you can remember
When he said "din din" my cat came running thinking there was food on offer.
Good job faller! Take er easy and have a great weekend Wade.
Wade Wittman you too buddy
the dutchman causes the rolling. the triple hinge allows more holding wood, control, and hanging time when falling.
Thanks for this, I just emptied my stomach all over my I pad!,,
Uhh thanks I think?
That husky sure obeys well, roll roll roll LOL.
great video, great trick!

Brian Kirwan ok I'll try that soon
never trust a tree that you know is hollow. never trust a tree that you dont know is hollow.
Austin Denotter hey that's all of them.... lol

Mike Smith yeah I'll try and get to that some day soon
interesting!
i understand the thinking now
Thanks for sharin Logger W. I'm really curious why the triple hinge would be stonger than the whole chunk of meat. Flex in hinge?
Mike Powers i second that. Intuitively I feel like it sorta compartmentalizes that whole chunk of meat so as the stem falls it lessens the chance of the whole chunk snapping off at once and keeps more hinge wood doing work for longer...could be wrong but I like it.

Mike Powers yes guys that's what it is.. you get a lot more flex so the whole thing stays intact through more of the fall
Mike Powers and its hickory safe... hickory will pull some long slivers. But not bust so if a guy needs it it's there
Great question Mike and great explanation Rocky and Wade. Thank you all. 👍❤😁

ALWAYS try new ( to me ) stuff in deep woods with only trusted compatriots as witnesses!
I watched up until you said it wasn't for me. Now I'll always wonder what I missed. Darn it
You need much more camera movement. I wasn't near confused or naseous enough.
unwatchable

Buckin sent me to say hay
would there be any value to using a wedge on the compression aka heavy side with a cut like this? good video. thank you
Brad Finegan yeah prolly so unless it's a situation to where a guy needs the gap to smash to through some weight forward
That what wedges do, lift...He choose not to...
