as always thanks for the videos! karen from many years of observation in times of stress and leisure and all points in between ;] it seems to this fly on the wall that you focus on the negative and feed the anxiety by doing that.. i dont know if the observation will help or not but i do hope you find a way to overcome it when it happens.

In Acupressure/Myotherapy the outer ear corresponds to the spine with the earlobe being the head. Pinching can alleviate pain in the related area, while the earlobes help with nausea and headaches.
This may be why PIRATES were known for wearing earrings, to help deal with seasickness. Tightly pinch both earlobes to see if it helps you.

In my 15 years of watching sailing vlogs and 9 years now of fulltime cruising, I've never seen a better real life portrayal of what a passage is really like. The challenges faced, the weather, the boat just not being flat, trying to eat regularly, tyring to get sleep whenever, etc etc etc. The emoitional outing afterwards is universal and you did a wonderful job of expressing yourself. Thank you so much for continuing to share your family's life.

    Hi Brian and Kazza
I sailed Mono hull for years got fed up with being on a lean and feeling sick when going down stairs plus everything falling on the floor when in rough weather.
I sold it and got a Catamaran and never regretted it.
More space and virtually no lean plus my beer never falls over 😂
    Happy days.
    Fair winds

Awe. I just wanna hug Kazza. I've been feeling for a while she's maybe not happy constantly being on the move, doing long passages, feeling vulnerable (and sick) out on the ocean in such a small space. Who could blame her? Doing it when you're young and in crazy in love and doing it still years later (although still crazy in love) isn't the same. I hope she can be honest, like really honest about what she would like. No matter what this family does, we will always support them. If you need a change or land legs...go for it! All the best guys!

Pirate Nugget should be an action figure I can buy at Target!!! Karin, sharing your mental state makes you a little less of a superhero, but so much more relatable. Sometimes having an emotional moment after several days of rough sailing, splitting duties between 2 people, all while keeping the little one fed and cared for, is just what a body needs.

My little family have been cruising on our old 43 foot mono for a long time, but I sometimes think that we're a bit crap and not tough enough. Everyone else seems to do it so easily. It was good to see this episode and realise that some of my heros also struggle at times too. I guess it's just part of the cruising life. My wife compares tough passages to childbirth. At the time it's horrible, but then a while later you think "let's do that again" :)

I'm a long-time observer of your sagas. I know you try to make what you do attractive and interesting.
Thanks for showing the reality of life in the cockpit. Your emotions upon arrival show how much stress you were really under and when you finally get to come up for air, it is bound to shed some feelings pent up while dealing with the hard times. Thanks for being real. The reality of the journey is what makes it an adventure.
Back in August, 2023 I almost drown on a camping adventure in the Apostle Islands (Lake Superior). We survived, but were only able to recover an unrepairable boat and some of our camping gear that floated ashore. My son and I spent 3 days on the beach waiting for rescue and watching our boat being beaten by the waves until it finally washed ashore, upside-down and destroyed.
We were actually able to enjoy our time camping for those three days as we waited for Sea\\Tow to salvage our boat. I didn't realize how much emotion I had stuffed until weeks later it began to hit me. The loss of my boat (most prized possession) and how close I actually came to breathing my last in those cold, crystal clear waters. I may never fully recover, but my life has taken on new perspective because of that near death adventure. I am better for it, with a different perspective of what is valuable.
As your treasure, Sierra said, "Land ho, Arrrgh!"
Life is not an amusement, it's an adventure. Thanks for letting us live it with you.

Worst of my life, in the English channel... But the whisky helped me to overcome my seasickness in minutes as we were arriving to our destination and we had to prepare our mooring... And I was so happy to be alive... Love to you and soooo many thanks for your always so wonderful videos ! Special love to Kazza for her being at the end so strong,

Kazza I can see how stressed you are. It’s not your fault. You spent a month in a beautiful place with , at least as appears to us, a lot of tranquility. We go o thru life with daily stressors that cause us to build an immunity of sorts. When that stress is removed we lose the ability to let things roll off our backs. It’s not your fault, it’s human nature. To keep some of that immunity, daily do little things that move you alittle out of your comfort zone. Small steps, you can do it. Just think of all you have accomplished. You crossed freaking oceans with a toddler, you’re a hero in my book. Love you guys.

Brian , @ 12:55 to 13:11 of this Ep.446 you'll notice at least a 7 to 9 inch gap at the bottom part of your netting (Starboard side) which as you recall was the intent to prevent Sierra (nugge$t) from falling overboard without her lifejacket. You'll notice again @ 23:25 Sierra loses balance towards that exact place of which the netting is insufficient. 🍺 cheers ❤

If my husband allowed my child to be on top without a life jacket I would get my child and myself off that boat and say goodbye. They should all be tethered in AND have life jackets on. In their state of sickness, they aren't making good decisions and a rogue wave can happen anytime!

Wow, great episode! There is no other like Pirate Sierra, for sure. A tough passage like that is so challenging and it's completely normal and healthy to have an emotional reaction once it is done. You were running on adrenaline with no other choice. You had Sierra, each other, and a boat to take care of and get to your destination. Once that adrenaline, and other stress hormones, dissipates it is emotional. You all endured the situation well, a great example to all of us. Namaste. 🙏

Not sure if this would help you guys or not, but thought I’d offer. My husband always had problems with seasickness too. I heard you mention you were hardly eating in the video. He found that forcing himself to eat and drink water on a schedule removed it for him… the key being how to eat without having to cook down below. He spent 8 days sailing across the Gulf of Mexico in 30 -35 knots sustained, gusting to 45 during an unusual 5-6 day May Norther in 6-8 foot short interval confused seas… he was the only one on the trip that didn’t get sea sick and when he started making the others eat they got over it too. To avoid cooking in that what he does is he has a Hydoflask bowl. He puts in 1/2 cup dry rolled oats, some dried blueberries and maple syrup and the pours boiling water over it until it is covered by ~ 1/2 inch water, stirs it then covers it with the airtight lid. He lets it sit for 20 minutes and it self cooks. When he started force feeding that to a fellow crew member who was ex Navy / very salty, it rescued him from the sickness as well. He does the same strategy with dry bulgur wheat and dried vegetables to make a soup without cooking.

It does make sense. Rolly anchorages are very hard and especially when you want to go to shore and you’re right there but you can’t, and you need a break after that passage. Can’t wait to see the next episode once you get moved!

Gaza thanks for sharing you being vulnerable. It's good to see sides of the cruising life. Keep your chin up. Your episodes are inspiring and the authenticity is appreciated. It's truly a relief to see the reality of how things are as compared to some other channels I've watch on here.

That was. a beautiful episode. It's so impressive that. you would be willing to expose such vulnerable moments with us.
If only you could tap into all that energy Sierra has, your batteries would be at 100% all the time. What a sweetie ☺

OMGsh Sierra's pirate voice has me cracking up. Kazza, I wish I could give you a big hug. I can't imagine what you feel and what you go through when sailing like that. I don't have the courage to do what you do and live like that. I have so much admiration for you all. It's amazing to watch. Thank you for sharing your journeys.

Kazza, that feeling is so recognizable! Sometimes it just gets you and the lifestyle hard parts is too much for that moment. But you are still out there! Well done and know you are not alone...

Brian , @ 12:55 to 13:11 of this Ep.446 you'll notice at least a 7 to 9 inch gap at the bottom part of your netting (Starboard side) which as you recall was the intent to prevent Sierra (nugget$) from falling overboard without her lifejacket. You'll notice again @ 23:22 Sierra loses balance towards that exact place of which the netting is insufficient, especially during a Port side Tack, Sierra could easily roll off underneath that unprotected netting.🍺 cheers ❤

Kaza I felt so much for you. You are such a brave and brilliant sailor. We all have rough moments and it’s obvious you were so tired. Even Brian didn’t do good for once! Normal to let it all out and then you bounce back which you did! Sierra is so funny oblivious to all! Go Captain Sierra! 😂

Firstly, I love you guys. Having raised a few kids myself I know how challenging it is to deal with the energy when you don’t feel well yourself. I can’t imagine how hard that would be on a boat. Thanks (Kazza) for sharing your emotions as well. Having such a supportive partner like Brian is wonderful to see.

It's not all champagne sailing. Having left the calm, peaceful Tuamotus beating into the wind is shock to the body. IMHO, tears and fears are expected as your body adjusts to the changing conditions.
Sierra's Land-ho, arr matey is the best. 🏴‍☠️

I love that little girl. She really cant understand what sick means. The scene made me think of stories of families lost at sea where the parents go first and I was able to picture a child trying her hardest to get her parents to wake up and play and feed her. Brrrr. So glad its only sea sickness with you and that you have the ability to call for help if it ever is worse. ❤
