This is it! As our departure to build Delos 2.0 in Australia creeps closer and closer, it's finally time to make our last sail to Raiatea where we will be hauling Delos out of the water and storing her on the hard. It's a pretty crazy feeling, and there is soooo much to do to prepare the boat and ourselves. But luckily we've got the best crew in the business, and with the help of our tiny captain in training we're able to tick a bunch of boat work off our list. But when the time finally comes to make this last passage, it's far from the magical, unforgettable sail we were hoping for, and the reality is something else ENTIRELY different 🫣

We moved onto a sailboat when our daughter was 14 months old and stayed on it until she was 5. Watching Sierra learn brings back those wonderful memories. When our daughter started 1st grade we put her in a private school and she had to interview with the head of the school. The lady asked her what it was like living on a boat and our daughter proceeded to tell her all about the systems & what had to get done before and after each sail. I didn't even know she knew some of the things she said.

I'm pretty sure I have watched your blog since before it was called a blog, from the very beginning of your posting them on Utube. These last several videos have been the best, now that Sierra can converse as well as she does. She is such a delight, and this comes from a 78 year old great grand pa with delightful kids of his own. The sailing is what attracted me to your channel, but I'm sure I will be just as entertained for the months you have Delos on the hard.

Seeing Brian involve and teach Sierra how tools work and how to fix things reminds me of me and my dad 😊 I could work on car engines, change- find a leak- balance and put a new tire on the rim by the time I was in 3rd grade. He continued to involve me in all of his projects and helped me with anything I wanted to try. We had a fantastic relationship that created an unbreakable bond. I ended up marrying a man that is my dad 2.0 and we just celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary yesterday. Don't underestimate what can happen by involving Sierra the way that you are. Great job Brian!!!!

Brian hi from Alberta, Canada. As a father of a daughter now 32, the time you are sharing with Sierra now doing eg boat repairs, time together at the helm or whatever is building a deep father daughter relationship. What she knows already and the responsibility of ownership being taught softly are priceless. For the rest of her life the term "righty rightie lefty loosie "she will never ever forget. And most importantly she will always think of you when it comes up. You just can't parent better than that. My sincerest respect to both of you as parents.

hey Brian, I have been watching your channel for years and love it. I wanted to give you a little advice on splicing wires in a marine environment, I have a fleet of trucks in Colorado with lots of winter and summer road conditions that corrode our lighting wires badly. I use a product called ILLSCO splice protector that we get at a electrical supply store. I just fill the butt connector with the corrosion resistant fluid and then put them together and water can not get to the wire. It's a small thing, but I use it on all connections on our trucks with great success.

Another great episode guys, fabulous to see that Sierra is starting to get more into the cruising life helping with repairs etc!
I am slightly sad to see things fail on Delos. I just started watching the series from the beginning and it’s simply amazing seeing all the memories that this boat has supported!!!

Delos is your Millenium Falcon! She's a character in your show. Will be hard to say goodbye but looking forward to meeting your new ship.

The archipelago that makes up the Society Islands is the most visited in French Polynesia. The most popular islands are Bora Bora, Moorea and Tahiti Nui, but there are also 11 other islands that are well worth a visit, such as Taha'a, Raiatea, Huahine and Tetiaroa. Hua Hin
Huahine is known as "The Garden Island". The island's lush rainforest and dramatic terrain embrace sacred sites and legendary landmarks, which are among the best-preserved archaeological sites in French Polynesia. Beyond the chalky white beaches, a large lagoon awaits you.
    Taha'a and Raiatea
Taha'a and Raiatea are two neighboring islands, two genuine island paradises, which share a lagoon and have a rich history. Raiatea is also called the Sacred Island and according to tradition is the very source of origin for the Polynesian civilization (Havai'i), the geographical center of the Ma'ohi culture (the triangle between Hawaii, New Zealand and Easter Island) and the birthplace of Oro (the god of fertility and war). Taha'a is often called the "vanilla lake" because the precious vanilla orchid is grown here in the humid shade of the rainforest.
    Tetiaroa
This is the island you dreamed of when you imagined the most perfect place in the world as a child. With its white sandy beaches, swaying coconut palms, colorful birds and sparkling lagoons, Tetiaroa is one of the closest things to paradise.
In addition to its stunning beauty, Tetiaroa is a place of rare biodiversity and is a nature reserve for birds and the marine environment. A lot of work is done to preserve and protect the natural plant and animal life. Through various projects, they contribute to the continued development of the reserve.
A wide range of activities await those who want to explore the island and lagoon. You can snorkel with tropical fish, sail in the lagoon, visit neighboring islands by paddle board or kayak, and join guided excursions to explore the island's culture, marine and animal life. Read more about it on the page about The Brando luxury resort.
Tetiaroa has a special place in Polynesian culture and history. Here you can still find ancient temples (marae), which were built on the atolls by the indigenous people. With its rich history and aesthetic beauty, the island will always hold great significance for Polynesians. It has also been the main resort for Tahiti's upper class for centuries.
