@@MrKipling420 so how someone is treated wouldn’t be taken into consideration, only the justification/mindset of why you’re forcing people to do tasks on the basis of their sex? The women are breeding mules for the legion who are as they put it “disposable” outside of that use. It would be discrimination based on sex even if not prejudice and you could very easily apply the word “contempt” to how they’re treated. At the very least I’d say their actions are reflective of misogyny similar to how you could technically make black people slaves on the basis of their race and not be racist. Even if you were to go by the definition I would just apply some different semantics like referring to them as anti woman or something meant to display their behavior. The definition of racist for example includes “discrimination” however the definition you gave for misogynist doesn’t. So it doesn’t make much sense to me why one would include those parameters and the other wouldn’t. Discrimination for black people=racist, discrimination for women=NA?! Ok then anti woman? Or whatever term you’d like to use for it? There would probably come a point where the actions outweigh the justification for why we would label someone as such. “Well yeah I want black people to be slaves, be forced to not have an education, be work mules who we can kill at a moment’s notice, etc. however it’s based on experience rather than prejudice, I don’t particularly hate or dislike the slaves (in fact I have respect for their obedience/utility they provide) and I ARGUABLY don’t have contempt.”

That is a really reasonable ranking. Fallout 2 has objective improvements but it also has week points, and weaker in game areas, whereas Fallout is finely tuned masterpiece. Best ending in the series too.
If they ever go back to the West in fallout I hope they just don't have the NCR win. All three other options have interesting follow up and allow for variety in a post FNV world, but NCR seems to really limit possibilities.
I really wish they had more time to work on the Legion, make them more conplex. Like, if we got an idea of a less harsh civilian society, or more indications that they would soften if they actually were successful in taking Californian land, dialectically
I think that’s the point, though. A fascist Society is based on having a common enemy. If they took NCR territory, they’d have to find someone new or else
I love the fact that at the start of the game, without protagonist intervention the legion are undoubtedly going to defeat the ncr. The president is almost guaranteed to be assassinated, with multiple plans covering every method of escape. The captain in charge of an entire NCR battalion and investigating Legion spies is a legion spy who has been in the NCR for years, even before Legion contact. The legion have leaders who lead with the troops on the front lines like Lanius or inculta while NCR leaders hide until the end of the game. Not only that but the latter of the two is able to infiltrate the Vegas strip. The legion destroyed several NCR settlements, they are poised to attack Helios One and overtake it if Archimedes is activated, the securitron bunker is locked under the fort and Benny fails infiltrating it, the Omertas attack the strip unsuccessfully but splitting NCR forces during the battle of the dam, Chief Hanlon is feeding false information to the ncr, and keeping most of the rangers at camp golf. The fiends lunch and attack at camp McCarran stopping reinforcements from going to the dam. The legion blows up the monorail and the infiltrators go undetected. Camp forlorn hope is overtaken by Dead Sea, Ulysses nukes the long 15 without protagonist stopping him, cutting off any NCR supply lines to the east and making it so they have to traverse The divide if they want to leave the West coast. The white legs overtake Zion valley and push into the northwest.Probably joining the legion as the 88th tribe. The great Khan's help the legion and are absorbed. From the way things look at the start of the game, the NCR are doomed without protagonist help. The legion run like a well-oiled machine and most of the quests you do for them are just assisting them when they were already going to win. The NCR are sending you on countless errands and have way more quests because they are desperate. They are overstretched, they are demoralized and their soldiers don't even want to be there. I don't hate NCR soldiers. I hate the NCR government being a bunch of tyrannical warhawk dictators that just want to overtake everything they see. They view Mojave wasteland citizens as lesser and often call them rats. They just want the water and plan on assassinating Mr House for the power of the damn and the Vegas strip. General Oliver is quite possibly the least likable NPC in the game. I'm not saying the legion are good by any means. I'm saying they are poised to win. The NCR and the legion are equally bad for the wasteland, yes the NCR are bad, they have slavery known as sharecropping. it's just as bad and came right after slavery. It's basically forcing people into a contract they'll never be able to pay off and working them to death. The NCR isn't afraid of carrying out assassinations or genociding factions either. These two are the opposite sides of the same coin and both of them deserve to be kicked out of nevada.
Caesar's legion is probably one of the most sustainable factions of Fallout. Ironic, considering their views with technology, really shine out like a horrible beacon of malignant hope.

Other than independent isolationist Mojave, Legion will always be my favorite faction to side with. Other than being a huge Rome fanboy, I also respect the sheer force and power of the Legion. They're so ravenous and brutal, yet disciplined and will stop at nothing to conquer territory and unite humanity under a single banner. Reminds me a lot of the Imperium of Man from 40k in that way. Inb4 nobody asked, I know.
NCR is a weak choice. Most people who choose NCR have no idea what it truly is. NCR is not actually an independent nation, they depend on caravans and brahmin barons in order to function as a nation. They can’t even manufacture their own weapons, they pay Gun Runners for guns. They rely on mostly Crimson Caravans to carry their supplies. Camp Forlorn Hope and the refugee camp are in the edge of destruction out of starvation and lack of necessary supplies. They have vertibirds in their inventory, and yet they refuse to supply the camps with these vertibirds, they don’t even care. Camp McCarran, the main NCR Operations Base is getting destroyed by the Fiends each day. I can count dozens of problems with the NCR, and explain why it’s a bad choice. Look at the Legion, even without the help of the player, they’re already advanced in the Mojave, have the upper hand and crippled the NCR. Legion is superior, and they win the Battle of Hoover Dam.
@@Kreia. Not gonna lie the only reason I can think of the NCR not using there vertibirds is because the game developers themselves do not want to make it more easy for the NCR. Imagine the NCR using the vertibirds they have in Long 15 against the Legion bombarding and strafing them or hell just an airstrike on Caesar's tent itself
@@safes9571 NCR isn’t capable of doing something like that. Even If they had tried, the Legion would take them out. The Legion has access to literally every weapon. They are not dumb. They adapt quickly.

What I don't understand is how can there be civilians in the legion? Males are made to fight? How can there be civilization if all they have is war. The cut content of Vegas is kind of disappointing. I think it would've been nice to see some sort of legion society/towns outside of the Mojave in say, Honest Hearts. All we really get is the word of some trader named Barton and a few caravans saying yeah no one fucks with their stuff. But that's super militarized still. Legion has no true citizens. They are all a slave to Ceasar and will Die out within a few years. At least thats how Marcus in Jacobstown sees it. And I do too. All they know is war. There is no real civilization
Im pretty sure he was more inspired by Augustus Caesar because not only was julius around during the roman republic which Caesar (NV) talks down on heavily even comparing the NCR to the roman republic but also because Augustus Caesar was the first emperor of rome and the great conquerer of rome

I still have some friends that doubt how the N.C.R could be afraid of "A bunch of raiders wearing red" compared to their victory at Helios One against the Brotherhood. One of the only arguments I keep pointing out is why the Legion gave the N.C.R hell is because they could simply match up with them and then some.
Still is such a sshame the devs didn't have enough tike to show more of the Legion. honestly, the legion is super cool but the cringy guards in front of and in Caesar's tent always made it impossible for me to do a legion play through XD
Really the legion that we meet is as an invading force. Caesar or Caesar, depending on how you pronounce it, wanted to make his legion change from a nomadic group of Raiders into a genuine Empire if he were to take new Vegas, at that point who knows what Caesar would have done with his new power. that is if I didn't kill him I'm every playthrough
The legion may be sustainable for a while, however the larger they become the harder they fall. 1 person cannot control large amounts of land for an elongated amount of time. Looking at human nature, neither the NCR or Legion are good options. Both sides have their own problems. Even so, I choose the NCR because I think they are the lesser of two evils. NCR has many weak leaders, either corrupt or just incompetent. Which is easily visible during the game. Trying to gain land quickly, spreading out their troops too thin. Not having a sustainable supply route. Then again, the Colorado River is a buffer zone between the Legion and NCR, letting them pass would very likely cause more damage in the future for the NCR. Without the Courier's intervention, the NCR would have most likely been routed. Caesar with his brain tumor, he would have died, and the Legion would likely splinter apart
Yeah, you did butcher the pronunciation there, juuust a bit. "Gallechio"? Nawh. Gal-le-kho. As in Gallic, from or to do with Gaul. :) Other than that, a very in-depth and good lore video!
Wish more time would have been allowed to develop New Vegas so the Legion could have got more content and expanded on like the NCR but Bethesda had Obsidian rush it out in about 18 months so things got rushed and cut
They set the game in Vegas, they model one of the primary factions after the Roman Legions, but they don't make Caesars Palace a location? It just seems so obvious.

Caesar's Legion while powerful. They are however also weak. Ceasar isn't getting younger. Sooner or later he is going to die. Which the Legion will begin to split apart because no one is suitable enough to replace him. Legit Lanius while a capable warrior isn't a policy maker. And most of his policy would be to increase militarization of the Legion. Vulpes Inculta is more of the political type. But with him being a lower rank in the Legion. Who's going to listen to him? Lucius is a mix of both Inculta and Lanius. However he lacks the willingness or knowledge to lead the Legion. But does recognize that he was fellowing Ceasar and not his ideals. Noone is capable of taking over the Legion once Ceasar is gone. Lanius would increase militarization of the Legion then smash it against the NCR. Gaining victory on the body's of the Legion. But once the NCR comes back the Legion would wish they had the man power to stop them. If Vulpes Inculta was the leader. He would negotiate with the Great Khans and cooperate in a compined attack on the NCR. He would probably accept some technology into the Legion but mostly rejected automation. If Lacius was in the command sit. He would probably reverse some of Ceasar's ideas. Like the taking of Hoover Dam. And fouce on building up the land the Legion already own.
I love Caesar and Lanius but I don't like the people of the Legion since they just follow Caesar and Lanius instead of following what they believe in and what they are fighting for... They just want to be told what to do instead. I would still pick the Legion over NCR if Mr. House wasn't a thing.

New Vagas is still my fav fallout. Im playing it again now. It just feels so much more free and open. And how u get ur ass beat if u step into the wrong areas too early. It gives it such an awesome feeling of danger in the world. I was really let down how the nurfed the factions in FO4.
I'm quite a rebel among us old folks. My fav fallouts are NV>F1>F2.
F2 fans keep stealing my rascal scooter, and F1 fans give money to goddamn kids to walk on my goddamn lawn.
That is a really reasonable ranking. Fallout 2 has objective improvements but it also has week points, and weaker in game areas, whereas Fallout is finely tuned masterpiece. Best ending in the series too.
@awnash9223 different strokes for different folks. :)

I don't know why i'm always amazed at the depth of lore you convey in your videos but here I am, amazed. xD Awesome work with this. Well played.

@@ibrahimalee23 Marcus himself? You say that like it had validity. That's the opinion of a character in the game LMAO
@@Bigkingmonster408 Arcade even makes a similar point. The legion is avidly devoted to Caeser without barely being deeply well knowledged on his ideals.

I can say "Raul himself likes the legion because he actually lived in Arizona and knew how bad it wad before Caesar." and that makes sense becsuse he was there. You're just using Arcade, who hates Caesar as a person and Marcus who never lived in Caesar's lands. Marcus raises a good concern but it's not a fact just because he's a reoccuring fallout character. The Ncr are too mainstream and same old for my liking.
False sense of democracy gets boring eventually.
That’s almost exactly my reason as well
NCR is a weak choice.
@@Kreia. The NCR can literally fly vertibirds so technically they are capable but hey if your a Legion fan then I didn't say they aren't capable of shooting down a vertibird but that doesn't mean a Vertibird is useless, afterall the NCR is using those former Armored Enclave Vertibirds

Can't get enough of the Legion
Besides all the super mutants and bigger enemies Legate Lanius is right up there with them 6’11 80% faster than any other enemy unable to disarm got his own version of power armour easily one of the most dangerous beings in the wasteland.
Some people claim the Legion is the best hope for the Mojave, but I'd honestly rather be dead than live in the world they built.

They follow Mars
