i use olive oil or any kind off food oil for paint or sealant to get it out off my hair . love your vids guys . love from Denmark
I'm just curious so I'm going to ask. Why didn't you 2 park your boat where it's easier for u to pick up & dropoff thing that u don't need anymore.
No-one could ever accuse you two of not being hard workers. Awesome people, so very well done and always smiling.... well on canera anyway!
Hi Gemma, disposable waterproof shower caps maybe your answer to stop paint getting in your hair, Sophie 😊
You can get disposable hats for painting. Like an oversized French beret with elastic. Not comfortable but keeps you hair clean and out of the paint.
I'm on the Wirral and have a generator you can borrow long term.
It’s getting a little Apollo 13 there. We’re drawing too many Amps to power up for re-entry!
So hard working and fun love watching you two nutters restoring the old girl. Simon is a clever bloke and Gem truly is a Gem .. Great work you two.
I would not refer to them as two nutters, they are too young hard workers trying to go forward in life.
Real and down to earth people doing real work, with a great sense of humor to boot! Refreshing. Best to you!
I appreciate that!
You might try and use an airless sprayer. It will not have all that over spray. And you do not need a air compressor.
Lidl has an LPHV sprayer right now. Cheap enough to use as a stop gap.
You two are adorabel people. Thanks for sharing the laughter and relax working attitude! Sarinda has luck being restored by you two!
The whites looking really good in my opinion. Love white
Thank you so much xx
Your endless energy, good humour and sheer grit facing this daunting task is an example to all. Health, strength and happiness to you for the rest of the refit!
Another great video! It looks so fresh! After watching your trash haul with epic music, i think i will play something amazing as i haul stuff out of the garage next time. Not just cleaning, EPIC CLEANING
After months of watching, I’ve finally caught up! When I first started watching, I thought this is way too big a project and they’ll never get there. I stand humbly corrected. What you have done is nothing short of amazing! I’ve learned a great deal about woodworking and, some very innovative use of tools! Keep up the great work and I’ll never miss an episode.
and the whole of the UK is watching :)
...the world!
Maybe you need a very long extension lead! Obviously it would need to be waterproof. 😂😂😇
Seriously you two are doing a great job and it makes such an interesting video.
Love the air drone shots with dramatic music at high tide.👍👍👍👍👍👍job well done…….progress progress progress……thinks are going nicely……👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏👍👏
The sparkling brew bit was hilarious! Glad it worked out. Good job getting the sprayer going.
FYI: we use Tyvek suits at work for painting. They have booties, gloves and hairnet type covers to go with them so that everything is covered. They are easily reuseable as well.
Def need to get your diesel generator onboard and running when ya can.
@@MevRB19 There’s thing wrong with DC gensets. They are built or purchased depending on what is needed.
All big boats needs a nice size diesel genny for bad weather stretches while the mains are off
Gemma is such a good sport, and she can paint too. Definitely a keeper that one. Really enjoying the channel.
You two are top draw . Many thanks for sharing
My current gun of choice is a supernova but for stuff like that it would be an electric sprayer from screwfix all day long, cheap, less overspray and tiny power usage.
WHAT A JOB!!! Amazing how bright it is after it's all white, though. A very impressive team effort!
No getting paint into hair if Simon does the painting 😉
Next time you need to spray paint, you might try an airless sprayer. It will take less power and not require an air compressor.
Great drone shots at the beginning of the video. I can’t quite decide if the boat looks lonely sitting in the mud or comfortably snuggled in. Kind like being bed with a huge comforter on a chilly morning.
I was getting good on the drone until it went swimming with the fishes!
@@ShipHappensUK 😭
Gemma can I give you a tip on spray painting don't move your wrist as much as possible ,move your arm side to side ,this gives a more even coat .
It’s like starting a crush on start with what takes most power and work down
It was really good to see your off-Sarinda chores today actually. The challenge moving your junk ship to shore looks like a proper mare tbh. Testimony to your commitment not to let any waste into the beautiful Dee estuary. Well done to the team.
You should paint that wooden wall white and mask off a big royal navy symbol. Epoxy the exposed wood and white paint to give it a smooth finish like a epoxy table top.
Excellent work, piece by piece it looks better and better!
You need to put some filter across the front of the fan and keep changing it as it gets covered in paint!
It will trap a lot of the paint and stop covering everything in overspray!
The extractor fan will last longer too!
Simon and Gemma get a bucket, write on slips of paper what area's need to be done. Put the paper in the bucket and draw one out. It might not be in the order you want, but it would sure make for an interesting video.
They do make gasoline powered air compressors, a lot of home builders use them. It would take the strain off your electrical in order to produce compressed air. They are a little bit noisy, but if you need the electricity as bad as you need the compressed air it may be worth it. If you look around you might be able to find a used one that is in top shape. A gasoline one requires special care if you plan to use one.
I used to have hair even longer than yours and my trick while painting to avoid paint hair .... slap some coconut oil on prior to starting. It makes life far easier to clean up without wrecking your hair.
Gems if you put a cream or moisturizer on your skin that is exposed to the paint , it will help take it off easier 😉To many years in a spray booth I learned my lesson
i suggest a Bendix tuflo 4 cylinder air compressor mounted on one of your big cats, use the AC for lights, and one big air tank
Paint looks Great! Keep the Vids Rollin!
I like the ‘Tide Mark’ on the right side of your van 😀 great video ❤
Quick fix for your compressed air issues, bin the compressor motor and put a lawn mower petrol engine on it. This will give you a wider CFM range by adjusting the engine revs. Works for me, been spraying cars and LCV's this way for years.
Honestly, for us it's been awhile since we've seen her afloat. Nice sight to see!
When Simon asks "Do you like the colour?".
"Yes, I do. Frizzy yellowy white quite suits Gemmas hair". ;)
Gemma, from now on girl just grab yourself a painter's cap, or a welders cap Its just a Bennie made out of cloth. That's what works the best for painting. Yeah did good Gemma on painting the boat. cheers to ya both. Making great progress.
What a change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You two hard workers.....
New spray paint method has progressive power and ppe challenges. How warm is the interior for the paint to dry? Also time to add more powerful solar panels, more solar panels bigger generator, bigger wind generator, bigger wire cables. Or one gas generator for the compressor and another one for the exhaust fan, lights, chargers.
It's a tradeoff when you spray paint vs roller it. Spraying gets a better coverage but a thinner coat and is way faster. Vs rollering that gives a thicker coat, is slower but you don't necessarily have to second coat it.
Great job guys … well done with the power management ❤
great work ethic!
Wear a pair of disposable coveralls with the hood up & a full face mask when spraying. Using paint thinners to clean paint from your hair/skin is not recommended. The solvent will remove the natural oils in your skin and be absorbed into your bloodstream and may cause damage to your kidneys. Your compressor probably doesn't produce enough volume of air to keep up with the spray gun (volume & pressure are two different things, a bit like amps & volts with electricity).
If not causing damage to the organs, it will ruin the skin and can lead to irritant dermatitis, I know how that feels and it's not something you want.
what you need is a bigger air supply , if you were to convert an old propane tank to a receiver you could double your air supply an easy fix and cheap
Definitely attracting Gemma with your new silver tiara!
Mural! Mural! Mural!🖌🖌🖌
Did you ever think of turning that water-tight door to the engine room upside down, so it would swing the other way, against the hull? It looks like it is bolted to the bulkhead. it would make it easier to enter and leave the engine room.
Simon you need a pig tank , it will fill up and then the compressor can keep running and you will be able to paint more
Simon, why not use an airless painter instead of that pot gun. You get so much less fog overspray and be able to place a heavier coat because you woildn't have to thin it. Cheers
Back in hi school we used to spray paint our hair for the punk look,so I know when it dries it will flake and crack out as you brush it
You guys are great! Gemma 's comment about being seen with her regarding the paint spray. She looks wonderful
Dear Jemma and Simon, nice to see you finaly use a spray gun- it is by far the easy way to paynt your boat! Maybi you should consitter to by a paper suit with have a build in hood, that is very practikal, if you are careful the suit is reusabel severel times! Love from Denmark❤👍💪
Rather than switcing thecompressor with the wall switch, use the pull switch on the air compressor; that switch unloads the backpressure on the compressor so it can start with pressure in the tank.
Great Job, another section of your boat looks almost new again. You guys can fix, redo, paint and tidy up with the best!
Before we built our full sized paint booth, we used a one meter fan in a box on wheels. It worked fine, but kept getting clogged with dried paint. After cleaning it once more, I used a small stiff brush to apply a thin layer of white grease on all the grills and supports, then after the next paint job, the crust wiped off with a rag...
When you go to the paint store next time they have what are called head socks just so you don't have that hairy problem again. I wonder if you could use one of those airless sprayers like you'd paint your house with?
never seen so much water around her, she must feel at home. Love Jem's new har style. sparkling water is only co2 no flavouring so you shd have all boiled out and you said it was fine.
Y’all need a quality airless paint sprayer for your paint your boat days. They are awesome to use and they don’t require a air compressor or as much electric power to operate🙂
Keep up the hard work we loved the “What About Mary” hair moment Gemma 😊
You should try an airless sprayer they would probably work very well for what you are doing and you could eliminate the compressor.
Even with paint in her hair, Gemma is beautiful!
Aww thanks ☺️
Look to get some disposable caps of the type that are used by workers in the food processing industries, or maybe a Rosie the Riveter look with a scarf.
It's all ways fun watching your videos ❤
Glad you like them!
You’ve done so much work on that boat it’s all coming together now we never see the cabins now have you done anything to them yet love the videos and your smiling faces
My god, you two get through a lot of work in a day........Ur always incredible 👍👍
I love hearing you both of you giggle and laugh!!!
You two are always the first thing I look for when it open You Tube.
Some nice epic music at the van load up
What happened to the Aldi bag hoodie ? Put over head, seal with tape at the throat, make eye holes 2, breathing office 1, fit respirator : )
Ace video guys. You need an amphibious van so that you can back it up to the boat to get rid of the rubbish - save all that backwards and forwards. lol. Dave Birmingham
The thing that really struck home in this episode was the huge number of forlorn boats in the Dee estuary. Many in much worse shape than Sarinda. Presumably the owners became too old and infirm. It's sad, that there is no army of Gemma's and Simon's to attend to each of them.
An Old T-shirt can be used as a head cover. Put head partway through neck hole with rest T-shirt on top and back of head.
Looks great after the second coat of paint.
I think so too!
Can't wait to see the deck done
to stop compressor stopping ,open the drain vakve a bit
You are a machine Gemma
ONe would think that a good brush and the small roller you have used in the past would work out just a quick and leave a thicker coat of paint?
... and leave enough power for bright lights on the job!
... and paint free hair and make-up for Gemma!
... and a bolero instead of a boiler suit!
... and ... don't you just love spray painting!
You might want to consider purchasing a HVLP gun. Puts out more paint with less pressure and fumes.
Great colour , well done sad about the hair. It looks great .
Looks so bright now! 👍
Mix paint with a spatula in an up and down motion
Love the Paint! Freshens things up!!!
Looking so much brighter, well done. 👏🍻
can you try led bulbs in all your lights they are costly but they lower the draw to almost nothing
If you reverse the blower end for end and create positive pressure with exits to the window it will save getting the fan clogged with paint
Every time we watch you both , it’s amazing how much you get done . The white paint looks great! You work so hard and we admire you. So glad we sponsor you!
With all the gadgets and your power problems don't you think it would be better to get your power generation system(s) sorted out and working before doing power hungry jobs? I can understand you using a spray gun for big areas but in my opinion the mark 1 applicator is best - a brush! Was the paint you used an undercoat?
You have taken on a massive restoration project and I salute you for doing it.
They've got to get the beam shelf in before doing the deck and that needs doing as soon as possible.
loved the surprise finding the van being inundated. provides a reminder that tides happen!
Great fun watching you two winning against all (g)odds.
Reactive and inductive loads a motor is reactive you need a generator twice the size of the motor run current as it requires a massive amount of amps to start it an inductive load is a kettle or electric heater starts with low Amps and builds up 😉
I wonder if a soft start that's hooked up to the air pump would help to allow the air pump to not overwhelm the generator when the it kicks on.
A soft start can be a little expensive, you would need one that can withstand the amount of wattage the air pump is trying to draw when it first starts up.
When this functional vestibule is operational we will all thank you for taking hours to show us just what it takes to make a seaworthy area. I once heard the bar on the Rolling Stones private jet cost £50k which disgusted me at the time (young easily triggered) but when you understand the lemon juicer has to have titanium grade x rivets and a crash test certificate it all starts to make sense.
Looking great guys regards from Liverpool😀
For me Love wednesday days and fridays when this cool family let us in there amasing life
Fantastic paint job 👌
you guys are awesome, and I mean AWESOME !
