All I could see is maybe they ban the game from their stores, but if this was taken to the Japanese government and they condemn Ubisoft for their representation, it would be a severely bad look on Ubisoft and puts their ridicule on the world stage.
And the more countries that become aware of Sweet Baby Inc's influence, the better. As for Ubisoft... they'll just keep doing what they do and keep making 70 dollar games with loads of MTX and reduced leveling to make you buy EXP Boosts.

And these wokies can't even say that 7500+ signatures doesn't matter, when their attempts to start a petition to get Forspoken 2 made couldn't even surpass 100 signatures.

@@ChiyoTachi Believe it or not Pride month gets mixed opinions here in America. A lot of people have issues with pushing ideologies onto others or prefer older versions of their culture so they end up not supporting or actively going against Pride teachings.
Keep in mind that there are 50 states that have their own state laws and not every person share the same opinions. Generalizing all Americans like that is disingenuous. A lot of us do not like false information and while the new Assassin's creed game is a work of fiction I don't care how wrong they are what I have a personal issue with is historical wiki pages being changed because of the game due to people adding false data based on the game instead of historical documentation.
If I were to get more controversial we can go into World War 2. Certain Japanese people recently think what the invading military did was justified and that they did no wrongdoings, others think the acts were horrible and Japan should be apologetic. What you said about all Americans can be used here where you chose one side and say all Japanese people are like that.
Reality is a lot more complex so generalization isn't good in my opinion. I will say that the loud minority is usually exaggerating the scale of events, most people don't care enough to voice themselves.

@@nadaburner I am not only talking about pride month only but the culture that harbors such negative virtue, "Pride" in it's entirety is a bad moral practice, it is what made concepts like "respect must be earned" which in Japan "respect is given until taken away" and it creates opportunity for concepts like Guilty till proven Innocent just like the Johnny depp and brett kavanaugh cases amd also metoo movement as a whole. Talking about WW2 is false equivalence.
I too can talk about colonial and civil war Era, we do not need to go back to the stone age, you can just call it generalization culturally. It is " Pride " we are talking about, that's what made all the big tech Ceo behave in such narcissistic manner and it's not limited to Ubisoft Ceo but Bob Iger etc, list goes on.

Yasuke is not a samurai. It is true that he was on Nobunaga's side. This was because blacks were rare in Japan. Nobunaga wanted to surprise and awe the other feudal lords by having a black man at his side that no one had ever seen before. Yasuke had no influence on Japanese history. If he had any influence on Japanese history, it would have been recorded in military history. But there is no such thing. We Japanese are rightly angry that Yasuke, who is not his real image, is playing a game of slaughtering Japanese people with hip-hop songs as background music. This is discrimination against Japanese people. Don't use our precious history for your selfish political appeals, UBI.

It's awful that it takes a direct attack on their culture to really shake people's cages but apparently that's where we are now. I just wish they had become aware of this stuff sooner because we've been dealing with it for quite a while now and it's only now that it's been spreading like the viral cancer it is the people are finally taking note.

    For several reasons:
    - Disservice to Japanese culture and history
    - Disservice to history in general
    - Disservice to Assassin's Creed's legacy.
If you want a samurai/ronin on the battlefield, play ghost of Tsushima. We play Assassin's Creed for the stealth. A female assassin is not a controversy (Mulan was one...). But involving LGBTQ in an historical simulator takes you out of the immersion.
And as a gay man I'll say this loud and clear. STOP forcing lgbt where it doesn't fit. In an HISTORICAL game it does NOT.

Imagine if someone made a game with the races swapped, It would definitely be used by leftist to get more anti-racist points. This petition probably wont be successful, but at least we can express our anger.
Im also Japanese, I want to make it clear that we arent outraged because Yasuke was black. And game devs can create fictional legends. However, it is fraud to promote non-existent "real life" as historical fact that the basis of fiction.
Also, as those of us whose culture has been stolen from, we cannot accept the theft of only surface of JP culture to create a selfish Asian style fantasy, or the claim that all Japanese people welcome this insult. @@MagcargoMan In my personal pov, I dont see a problem with them as long as its shown to be complete fiction.
However, ACS declared the fictional myth to be historical fact and then built an another fiction on top of it. Furthermore, the depiction of that fiction (so called based on history) is full of cultural a/o historical errors and disrespect, which is obvious to any JPs. There are other problems, and that is why we are criticizing Ubisoft

UBI has not stopped advertising that it was made true to history.
This time around I know how Egypt felt when the Cleopatra documentary was made.
The only thing that matters to WOKE is if there is any fruit there that can be given to blacks from that culture. The culture itself is disregarded and Japanese who point out the obvious mistakes in the portrayal, the publicity and the creation process are called racists.
The behavior of WOKE continues to demonstrate their own assumption that black people cannot even pick their own fruit.

This time they are trying to give the blacks the fruits they should not take in the most unwise way of harvesting.
Oh, by the way, if you want to be sure that your current conversation partner is Japanese, you can ask him to write his sentences vertically.
I remember...Yasuke in Assassin's Creed wrote "勇" at the bottom of the scroll. He wrote the first character there. Yasuke in the game has been in Japan for only a short time, so it seems that his calligraphy is also written from the bottom up.omg

  • @loke6664

I am not sure actually banning the game would be the right decision, I am generally against censorship and if we start banning games for being historically inaccurate (I don't think there is any open racism in it even if there are cultural appropriation) that could end badly for everyone in the long run.
Bringing awareness of it is the correct thing to do though. Inform the customers and let them make their decisions is the base of capitalism which is what at least used to fuel all game companies even if many western companies today seems more interested in promoting politics then making good games.
The worst part is that Yasuke's real story is very interesting but Ubi Soft is screwing him even worse then Japan in the game. They could have made a cool game about his story from when he arrived in Japan and everything that happened after if they bothered reading more history then a few Wikipedia articles.
I think the lesson here is that when you set your game in a foreign country you have to respect that countries culture and history. Instead of hiring someone like Sweet baby Inc you should actually hire someone from that country to go through your script and see so there wont be a huge uproar when you release it, preferably an actual historian or archaeologist instead of some self proclaimed expert with dubious experience.

Haven't the kind of people on channels like this spent their history defending African caricatures in Japanese games for ages? Seems like their outrage only goes one way, and wanting experts to be consulted for the other way would be "woke".

    • @loke6664
      @loke6664 9 днів тому +1

      @@MagcargoMan Beats me.
But I fail to see how a bunch of Canadians have the competence to handle the culture of any African country either.
If your game is set in a place like Mali for instance, you hire a company from... Guess what place? It ain't Canada... to make it authentic.
Alternatively you do a lot of research and send some of your people to that place to recreate it, that works too.
Just because you have a certain skin colour does not mean you understand any country or culture from other places.
And yeah, I think doing your homework for any real (including historical) setting is important unless the game is set in your own nation. If you can't do it yourself, you hire in local experts.
But do you actually believe Sweet Baby Inc know anything of historical Japan or even the real Yasuke?
So a French company hires in a French Canadian consultant company to help them make Japanese culture and history comes to life... What could possibly go wrong?
If the game was set in Montreal things would be different but now it is a stupid move.

First of all, the Amazon market is not considered important in Japan. When it was said to be popular in Japan, the number of pre-orders was displayed as 500.
When pre-orders began, the highest number was 1000,
and now it's down to 400. But there are still people who tell Japanese people that "it's number 1 on Amazon and it's loved in Japan."
