Mozambitch Yes it is a bad question! Because it implies that there is even a possibility that a child could want or enjoy sexual contact with an adult. What you are talking about has nothing to do with this question and could have been done a million times better by just asking how bad it was for him/ how it affected him. Why would you ever think it‘s ok to ask a person that was raped as a child if they wanted it? That‘s messed up dude!

That “abuse” thing may just be another made bullshit excuse to make them not seem guilty or clearly just to get them out of jail. Yall are one sided.
I don't want to be mean, but how are u sure? Like it is not okay to kill someone ever! And you don't know if its true, I personally don't believe it. They could've practiced this, Eric also cried when he was questioned by the police, but he killed his parents and when he saw his mothers was still alive they went back and got more bullets. So there was no remose which shows they know how to fake cry
The way Lyle kept rocking his body, like a child being rocked in a mother's arms, when answering the questions is what really makes this that much more heartbreaking.
Hue Hue it probably doesn’t but if you experienced these thing from your own parents it can drive you to doing that and it seems like they thought that was the only way the abuse was gonna stop

I wasn't sexually abused, but I was emotionally abused. And that shaky breath and those distressed tears were the exact reactions I had when I first told someone what my mother did and the pain it brought me. How anyone could abuse their kids is beyond me.
These young boys are being forced to tell their stories for the first time on the world stage. I mean, how does the court act any better than the boys parents? Essentially they’ve been traumatized yet again. What is wrong with people? 😡
They were two absolutely fucked up in the head boys. They had confused feelings about their parents, they loved them for being their parents and hated them for causing so much pain. They were children when they started suffering abuse. I feel extremely sorry for them.
they are being tried professionally, their traumas doesnt remove the fact that they murdered, as young as 13 yrs old a kid can be legally tried as an adult,
How tf did they go to prison for this. The pain they went through was so horrible, cant you see their faces???? And how they said this they werent making it up, im so sorry for these men, so sorry.
Annnnnnd what if they are lying.. good god they killed and went on a spending spree.. they would come out and then come to ur place. Finish u and then cry that u tried to rape them..
I'm so mixed on this. I believe them 100%, they could barely talk about it without stuttering or crying. Murder is wrong and they definitely deserved to be punished but I don't think they should be in prison for the rest of their lives. Idk I have so many conflicting opinions about this
He could also be so emotional because he could be lying and he knows he fucked up. Dont be so gullible. They're old as fk to know how to get help? THey would've told SOMEONE !
@@TizzTv they were scared Jose was going to get people to kill them. Lyle confronted Jose about molesting Erik and he threatened to kill them. With everything we know about Hollywood now, the idea isn't far fetched
they need to reopen the case, back in those times no one believed that rich men could be abuse victims, now we live in a time where most people are understanding and believing of that. they deserve to be out of jail
Clint Eastwood they did it because they’re own father raped and molested them throughout their entire childhood, leaving them with a life full of emotional and psychological trauma. And their mother knew about the whole thing but cared more about her families reputation then the well being of her children. They are disgusting. I’m not saying they deserved death, but the Menendez brothers do not deserve life in jail. Their sentence should definitely be shortened
ikr. it must be so traumatizing for them to even think about and she’s just trying to force it out of him like it’s that easy. not to mention she started getting impatient and asked the judge if she could move onto another question. like what🧍🏽♀️
@@hayvensimp4eren436 That’s literally his defense attorney, stop blaming a woman who was their best chance at justice. She was very close to the brothers so stop putting all this anger on her and put it towards the system that put abusers above victims.
the shaky talking, irregular breathing, and the stalling reminds me when i admitted for the first time to the abuse i received in the past. this is such a painful watch
I remember when this happened, people made fun of them and made jokes about how badly overacted their testimony was. This isn't acting. My abuse wasn't nearly as bad as theirs, but I can see myself in them, in their pain. The way Erik can barely breathe, the shame Lyle feels for everything he's done, especially towards his own brother. It's all too real. These men don't belong in prison. Their father did.
Agree. This case makes no sense to me. The father unequivocally deserved to die, it’s a shame it was so fast. The mother, in her weakness, deserved to die. People take killing either way too seriously or not seriously enough. The killing of these parents was probably more justified than any killing done by any US soldier in the last 20 years, yet nobody says those US soldiers are a threat to society because they are killers
She's their defense lawyer. She knows exactly which buttons to push to get the emotional reactions that will gain them the most sympathy - even if it means playing the bad lead. Because truth alone does not necessarily win the jury's decision.
Then maybe he shouldn't have had Erik shoot the parents too? If he was really trying to protect him then maybe he should have done that alone, because Erik's whole life was ruined.
They are not lying, you can feel this. This brothers were traumatized all their life and now they are put in jail. The woman who is asking questions gosh, have mercy.
You only have an opinion because they person they killed means nothing to you, you fucking tool!! You’d be on my side if they were on trial for murder for someone who was close to you!!
this trial makes me so incredibly sick, everything involved especially their sentence makes so incredibly angry and the fact that a judge could even sleep at night after this trial
I literally cried the whole time watching this, I felt their pain and shame as I was watching. I feel sorry for them and the fact that his brother was abusing him in the woods like his father, really says about teaching your child and they would follow is all about, he probably knew what he was doing something bad, but didn’t know any better because when your taught something, kids imitate on it.
How can a father be so cruel??? How can these kids live with such a monster? Why didn't their mom or anyone else help them? Why did they have to be punished their entire life? Can they call that a life? 😭😭😭
Agreed! And their mother was worse how dare you not protect your two children from your disgusting husband. She told Erik to hide his tear wtf it makes me so angry. Being a mother means protecting your kids from anything and anyone especially if their father is a monster. I am disgusted.
@@thecrimsondragon9744 I wouldn't consider myself part of the problem. I was raised in a loving family and I love my daughter more than my own life, I simply can't understand people who do these things to their own kids 😔
This is a murder trial not a therapy session. In court things are done very quickly so that they can’t have people be sobbing because they need to answer direct and detailed questions. The defense attorneys cared a lot about the brothers but they were just doing their jobs.
Insanely sad story. A lot of this makes sense. There so much shame and anger in sexual abuse that retaliation isn’t surprising. These men deserve parole not life in prison for defending themselves against their abusers
as a person who was sexually abused by their own father it’s EXTREMELY obvious they were sexually abused you can’t fake this kind of trauma even their body language makes it so obvious
seno2020 :\ they spent $700000 in the 7 months between the murders and their arrests on Rolex’s, cars etc. If they genuinely killed themselves in self defence why did they frame the crime scene to look like a gang attack? Why did they get themselves an alibi and buy the guns illegally with fake IDs? The abuse story is what these sociopaths made up when they used daddy’s money to get top notch lawyers
Harvey Holmes They we’re sexually abused for YEARS. They were KIDS. do you not know how much of an emotional toll that takes on a person. You obviously don’t so stop making them out as murderers. What they did was justified
She isn't rude, she had to make them answer quick so it wouldn't seem like they were making it up, she's actually really sweet and treated them like her own kids
parents who abuse their own kids should get the death penalty ... they do not deserve a second chance because their kids dont get a second childhood. too many parents have no fear and dont treat their kids like humans .. these brothers are heroes - they've survived a world that doesn't deserve children. its is better to have an abortion than to force your kids to endure what these boys did. if you bully your kids i- know that many grown adults hate you and can spot you from a mile off
It’s just a reaction to see someone who has been involved in a brutal murder, with whom you’ve participated in too. God help me if you were a judge and say FREE THEM just cause they cry.... please never become a judge. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️😢
And he cried when Lyle said he violated him he probably didn’t know cause Lyle was 8 Eric was probably 5 or 6 so it probably made him upset cause he didn’t know or he did know and it hurt him more to hear it later
Having suffered DV from my own father the way they speak and are holding themselves in their speach is exactly how i carried and still to this day carry myself when i speak of the topic - it hurts to see how the justice system is so flawed when it comes to such cases no person victim to their parents abuse should be locked up with life sentences they should be given the help they need in a supportive and safe space
I don’t condone their behavior whatsoever and I don’t condone murder whatsoever, but these men were sexually abused and traumatized... they are still dealing with very traumatic life events... these men need to be placed in psychiatric care while in prison. These men are not a flight risk , they aren’t going anywhere. Transfer them to get psychiatric high security care facility where there are counselors and psychiatrist. They can still be locked up for their violent crimes, anyhow regardless of what they’ve done, it’s most likely they just need to find some sort of healing in the process. Being locked up is only going to make them more mentally unstable.
Mother was as guilty of abuse as father by allowing the abuse to happen. What a sick, sick couple - justice was served ultimately, but not before these brothers suffered irreparable damage
These boys are definitely telling the truth you can tell by the body language and the pain in their voices... I was also sexually assaulted by a family member and the way that they tense up and try to hold back their tears and the shame that is commonly associated with people who have suffered with this kind of abuse. When you become aware of just how wrong this "secret" is it completely destroys you... the shame is so overwhelming and painful that you don't want to tell anyone because you feel dirty constantly... at least thats how I always felt... these boys need to be set free they were abused and assaulted and tried to break free with the only solution they could think of.
idk why people thought they were acting how would “playing” with his brother in the woods benefit him in court in any way they weren’t admitting this to be selfish
@@nrx_plays1004 People bring up this retarded argument all the time, they were rich already and they spent around the same amount before and after the murder. Approximately 700,000 dollars in a 6 month period was spent after the murder, for any rich household this is a normal spending rate. There was plenty of evidence to support thier claims
it was an ignorant era... they only thought of the money motive,... viewed them as spoiled brats..people thought in stereotypes and considered sexual abuse stories in court to be "drama" people had soap opera logic and zero empathy... very narrow minded thinking era..a jury member, a man, said no father would ever do that to his child.. see? ignorance in its most pathetic form... what a joke they getting life with no parole..
3:23 was so hard for me to watch. it broke my heart the way erik responded to the question. no one deserves what lyle and erik went through and they definitely don’t deserve life in prison
I can’t imagine the trauma they have been through. To be horrifically sexually assaulted as minors, by the person they should trust the most. And on top of that, their mother doing nothing about it. My heart breaks for them
"and he said that he didn't mean to hurt me and that he loved me" this detail always made me think that they weren't lying. Someone who's lying would've just painted their parents as evil people who was purely awful to them, but when he said this line he sounded really hurt and that isn't a work of a liar.
they are very raw and real reactions. these are real emotions, responses to their trauma. i feel so sorry for these boys, their childhoods were destroyed and they spend their adulthood incarcerated
They definitely need to reopen this case. This is heart breaking. You can tell by their body language, finding it hard to answer, breaking down: that’s what a real victim does. Even his brother broke down watching it cause only they know how bad it was
@@bleyd__ Thankyou. The fact that they killed the mother as well just sums it up for me. They say she was encouraging and abusing towards them too. They killed their father which could be justifiable if their lives were in danger at the time of the murder, but it wasn’t. I think the killing of their mother wasn’t justified at all I’m afraid. It was premeditated. They were surprised by the gun shots. It was still callous.
@@JoshGiddeyLoverThe TV show actually makes the boys seem worse. They’re made out to be pretty awful human beings in the show, while the parents are made out to be good people in the end, so OP’s comment doesn’t really express that.
These two men have spent there time in jail being liked by both prison guards and other inmates alike .....they have shown courage and respect....its such a dam shame how the american justice system who have actually freed others for worse crimes .... want too keep them locked up...knowing they would not hurt a fly.im sure they regret what they did...but they will never get parole ....some lawyer please take on there case and free them .there has too be someone.who can.
Not hurt a fly is such a stupid statement. 🤦♀️ You are only so involved in their case to void a hole in your life. If it was your mum and dad they murdered then you’d be on the case and would not show them mercy until proved otherwise. Does it cross your mind that both the prison and justice system know they are fuck as hell guilty and want to keep them behind bars so they don’t hurt an innocent person on a wimp.
@@Deano-Dron81 did you listen to a single thing the brothers said in this video? they were sexually assaulted throughout their childhood. that trauma changes you insanely and their parents were terrible people. in no way is murder the right thing to do but their motive is justifiable.
Murdering two people unprovoked and making sure their mother succumbed to her death by shooting her multiple times, how on earth is that justifiable?? Regardless of the circumstances of their childhood, both intended to murder and had pure warm blood on their hands after their disgusting crime! They went down for it not because no one didn’t recognise the abuse of the parents but because of the pointless preventable deaths they committed. 👎 You moron.
I remember when someone claimed to know the real story they said as soon as the brothers testified about this they laughed and high fived and said what else can we make up which is utter horse sh*t.. they'd never do that in a court room where they can be seen and we understand more about abuse and body language they would have to be oscar winning actors... also the 911 call where lyle fakes crying when he says his folks had been shot was clearly faked and badly too but here we don't see any bad acting cuz it wasn't acting. It brought them great shame. Did anyone else notice Erik regresses into a baby he sucks on his finger as if its a pacifier this is compelling for the moment of childhood sex abuse... so sad. They at least confessed and yeah they hated their parents for a reason and felt free but it came from a real place of pain. They went on a spending spree well what else would sex abuse victims do when they have had their childhood stolen from them and didn't get to experience real paternal love and joy. Shopping is only a temporary fix this is something they will always live with the rest of their lives. I can't believe no one believed them. At least we are more aware of this stuff the 80s and 90s were taught to look the other way if abuse was happening and we can see how it affected people in adult life. The 80s and 90s were still very ignorant to patterns of abuse and how it affects victims many do not make it very far in life without self destruction.
@@alegria1813 @Mozambitch basic psychology...he does this a few times.. he nibbles on his fingers in a child-like way on the stand when he cries, then again when lyle said he abused him u see him sort of suck on his finger 2:05 pause and 6:20.. when we have ptsd flashbacks or experience depressing or traumatic memories we regress and turn to childhood comforts whether its something like massaging on the ear, playing with toys, comfort foods we liked as a kid, hobbies/habits that gave joy and comfort.
This was absolute torture to watch. I found myself crying by the end. I had no idea of the pain they went through and clearly displayed on the stand. There's not a doubt in my mind that they were telling the truth about the abuse. I could feel their pain with every fiber of my being. 😞
if this type of story went up today in a similar way... and they'd go into the abuse story people would %100 side with those kids they were just 21 and 18... they were still kids and people who sexually abuse children deserve the worst in this world.
I'm sorry for Erik... I mean even if everyone ignores the fact that he had been molestered by his alder brother ... it is not okay and Lyle apologized for that, but is just hard for me to get that... I am literally crying of the story of the physical and of course the mental abuse of this two.
Me 2 like me and u is the only that see that erik is really the victim lyle still it's just that erik was molested by his older brother and his stupid ass father
Well that is a crime you know? You can’t take the law into your own hands. Anyone would know this. It’s not rocket science. The brothers could have gotten help from their many relatives that corroborated the abuse claims.
@@kaylinwhite6584 I don’t think you’re familiar with how manipulative their father was. Whenever the boys would get in trouble, like when they were raiding houses, he’d pay off the families to not press charges. Their dad was so disgustingly rich he could’ve paid his way out of ANYTHING. He never would’ve gone to prison.
this is absolutely sickening. these men were VICTIMS!!!!!! sexual abuse should NEVER be minimalized no matter the gender. these boys are not monsters they are VICTIMS!
Why are you shocked at this??? Victims can still commit crimes and will be given consequences for their actions. The brothers confessed to murdering their parents in court. They weren’t going to get off the hook for it.
@@kaylinwhite6584 you can stfu. they were VICTIMS who needed to get out. they should have only gotten A LOt of therapy and like 5 years in a psychiatric hospital. NOT LIFE.
@@kaylinwhite6584 yes but if you do even an ounce of research into similar crimes you will find that women who murder their abusive husbands/brothers or any other relative really, 9 times out of 10 they get off the hook on the basis of insanity and or battered woman syndrome. This case was sexism and misogyny working together to give two people who didn't deserve this sentence a life of hell. How is it fair that when a woman does this people say "oh ya know it excusable" but when men or boys do this people brush it off as less important, because apparently children being raped by their father and it being ignored and even corroborated by their mother is less of a reason for murder than a woman being hit by her husband for a few years.
the pain in his eyes makes me want to literally cry, they really did not deserve a life sentence. their life was ruined by their father. they probably only deserved 10 years at most . this was so unfair on my eyes the way they would stutter and there body language shows that they were hurt and they are obviously uncomfortable with everything they are being asked . i feel so horrible for them it breaks my heart .
