I think Left 4 Dead would be awesome as more of a "found footage" horror series. Not Analog/Digital. Imagine seeing POVs of normal soldiers, CEDA people and maybe even infected with cameras on them.
@@RyanMaloney-cs4wvIt'll be co to see Rochelle giving some coverage of the outbreak as she fights off the Horde. Yeah, I know that lore wise, she didn't had a chance to turn on the camera but who says she couldn't turn on a camera when she got to safety.
I like the idea of having new specials being introduced, L4D2 took place like 3 to 4 weeks after infection which is insane considering how much mutations have occurred. So the chances of new specials popping up due to the virus mutating is pretty high.
If they follow similar rules to the 28 days later the standard infected would die off on their own due to exhaustion within a month, the specials even quicker due to their instability.
Though I'm kinda not as hooked to these new specials, I do understand it's an alternate reality but it's just that there's usually some kinda aspect to the normal person that is amped when they turn which you can observe like how a Tank was probably on steroids as a human or just extremely muscular which the green flu mutated, stuff like that. Also the intelligence part kinda creeps me out in the sense that it doesn't make sense (for me) for the infected in that way since the infected basically view non infected as the monsters, like there's some psychological hook that makes you understand them see, but you can also see where the horror is from this at the same time. Like what do starers or whisperers think? Like one of the more intelligent infected is the survivor one, they run away from you, like it makes sense right? So what are starers thinking that can make sense from that... framework? Why do they build their colonies? But my critique basically fuels my interest in this because there's this unknown element.
@@CommissarChaotic I'd think of the Starer/Stalker as an evolved form of Hunters after so much time has passed, they now just scope out their prey and study them. until the kill is easiest.
what if instead of left 4 dead analog horror it was called left 4 dead analog freaker and instead of zombies like the charger we got the freaker and instead of charging they freaked all over the place in an analog way
Left 4 dead has so many great Jumpscares with the special infected that could be used to make a great horror series but instead we get the generic “spooky static that gets louder as a distorted face slowly appears” trope that’s in every analog horror.
One thing, I don't like about this analogue horror is the time frame of this since Left 4 Dead takes place in the late-2000s when VHS was basically dead and digital media was becoming popular and mainstream. Basically, it should have been digital horror instead of analogue but still a cool idea.
And VHS tapes were created in 1971 before Left 4 Dead was even create it. Your point? Also analog horror it's called analog or because of the video frames, no one is going to call it digital horror, because it doesn't have that cover. Or MP3
4:10 is the only problem I have with it. I know VHS is a big part of analog horror but it feels weird in this universe that’s so tied into to its time period (that of early 2009). When VHS was phased out pretty much completely by about 2006. Making this well beyond even the possibility of putting out VHS, especially when DVDs were cheaper and faster to produce (important when trying to inform the public in an apocalypse scenario). It’s nitpicky I know, but I’m sure I’m not the only one who stopped when they heard because it didn’t sound right.
@@smartfella7914 so test subjects then, maybe or when they find out they're infected but carriers they will shoot them. they kill all infected and carriers and thats supported by wall graffiti. i forget which map but you can find it.
I can't stomach this with any level of seriousness. Having the target of this series be something so well established, the cracks in the modern "Analog Horror" trend really bleed violently through on this, to the fact nobody would make recordings like these, not even for narrative storytelling. In other words, I was completely out of any chance of immersion lmao with all the tropes steamrolling to the point L4D felt more like a visual choice (like making a movie in Minecraft) rather than a setting. Cheers for the vid, though!
I mean sure it has some of the analog horror tropes. Though i feel its more because the creator doesn't have the higher quality animation yet they'll likely be removed as the improvements are made but even still they avoid some of the more annoying ones like having creepy music for no reason. Its nice finally seeing stuff being done with left 4 dead over all its very good for what it is.
I like how one of the new Infected mutants is a scrapped concept art one that they kinda brought to life by making it essentially just a very intelligent hunter/witch.
I'm gonna be real this analog horror was awful. It speedran every analog horror trope. Unwarranted glitch jumpscares accompanied by loud noises. Completely mischaracterizing the source material. "The people making the safety videos are actually evil!!!!!!" and give you information that actively hurts you. 1990s type graphics and music despite left 4 dead taking place in the late 2000s to early 2010s. The name of the special infected OC is just... bad. Like, "the Starer?" That's the name??? Stalker would have fit much better and the Hunter could already fit a very similar role. All of this is just scratching the surface of the issues. Overall this really just used the looks and ideas from Left 4 Dead for clout and easy publicity. It doesn't at all match the world of left 4 dead and doesn't even understand what CEDA was doing in the world of Left 4 Dead and took just about every single cliche analog horror has to offer.
Tbh left 4 dead 2 is horror on itself imagine zombies like that i'd rather kms than try to fight charger or even a tank i'd rather have twd type zombies
So, my idea for the "Whisper" mutation, The zombies from northeast USA will speak just regular English, Florida whisperers will speak either English/Spanish, for the Louisiana ones and Mississippi ones will speak French.
*BIG edit update* That face/starer at 15:54 is the same thing it was shown at 7:30, after Xavier and David were attacked by the unknown infected (possibly the claw infected), Xavier was left bleeding out to death, and that's when a starer arrived, with Xavier maybe alive long enough to see the starer being dying of blood loss
This sucks. Not only is analogue horror oversaturated now you can’t do it with a series like this with well-established rule in the events. There’s already a story to the entire game. It’s just written on the walls in the actual game. when you know that story and you watch this, it’s kind of a joke to the actual franchise of left for dead.
I will say the video is a good editing is great the actual quality of your video shines through I just personally think the story for L4D can’t work in this medium and just makes a joke of it’s self
I literally agree with you this would work better as found footage not analog horror because it literally takes place during 2009 and it wouldn’t make sense for them to use such outdated technology
16:01 I really like how this entry seems so out of place, it's effective in what it shows thanks to that. Even with the Green Flu Epidemic in full swing, mutations seemingly becoming a growing threat (going from the perspective of a CEDA soldier watching these tapes). There's always gonna be those little things in life that can make the world feel normal for just a few minutes, whether it be something as simple as a combo meal at a fast food chain or say, playing carnival games in the marsh.
