This is incredibly motivating! I completely gave up on the series back in 2022, but after seeing this, I all of the sudden feel the urge to get back into it with a fresh set of visions! Honestly though, a lot of what I originally did for the series was done for the sake of being scary, I never actually had definitive lore, but to see Orbit make sense out of it all, really had me interested! Some of those videos where so god awful and lazy in my opinion, but I really do appreciate the support! My animation and storytelling skills have greatly improved since then, and without a doubt, this is going to be fun.

This series seems to be set in the beta Half-Life 2 universe based on everything we see.
But the pictures were of City 17. How would people in City 14 know about it if they are in a different province of the U.C.U
Yes there is a lot of things from the beta so I'm guessing it's either a different timeline or the analog horror series is pointing at there being some ties to the retail and the beta.

I LOVE the idea of video game based horror that takes place in universe rather than in the “haunted game” sense. A similar idea I’ve seen for a half life horror series is, after/during the events of half life 1, someone with access to black mesa security cameras start snooping around them trying to figure out what’s happening and why, getting intercepted by the gman every now and then telling them “you’re not supposed to be here” and cutting their access to the cameras

It must've been the Particle Storm, in old HL2 voice lines for Eli, he explains that the reason on why he lost his leg was due to the green storm when he wanted to examine it(?).

Because HL2 takes place in 200x, that means in the 2020's, the most widespread thing ever is VHS.
I was fixing to comment abt the dates, the resonance cascade doesn’t even happen until the 2000s but all of these are dated in the 90s. Just kinda confusing to me

This series is very much one that takes place during the early hl2 beta. The story was much more... Miserable. The combine would suck the air from the earth and drain it of natural resources. The 'consul' is the beta version of Wallace breen, also stalkers names actually made sense. They were like a disposable assassin that was driven mad under combine brainwashing and converted into a laughing, screaming, limbless. Laser assassin.

If I remember right, The beta stalkers were used as termination creatures that were sent out to kill unsuspecting rebels in alleys.
I feel a sense of dread when I see them used in this series with someone nearby, As the way they do it is horrifying in itself.

I genuinely hope someone will make some digital horror series for F.E.A.R. It is literally perfect. And with the subtle rise of FPS games using a body/helmet cam as the perspective, imagine a F.E.A.R. animated horror series like that. It's a mix of suspenseful horror, brutal gunfight, and other tactical stuff.

One thing I didn't hear you explain is City 14. City 14 does exist in HL2. One of the citizens says "Dr. Breen again? I was hoping I'd seen the last of him in City 14."However the most interesting thing is on the Train Schedule list there's no mention of City 14 despite 11-16 being present.Of course others are missing as well such as 1-7 and 10.Interesting take on the topic.
Also most of the stuff here is clearly from the beta.Such as: the look of the city,the consul,the Green Light is most likely the cut Particle Storm enemy,the creature that attacked the camera man looks like the Combine Alien Assasin,beta Stalkers.

by the way the green light refers to a cut enemy called the particle storm, which is an invincible force that tears things apart and is extremely dangerous. And the video of eli talking is real cut voice dialogue about him believing its consciousness, and likely talking about his plan to turn it into a powerful superweapon.

My theory is that this is all in Jake’s head, and the stalker that we see is what happened to Jake. I believe this is true because of Eli saying “I think there’s something in there” I believe this line doesn’t just apply to the cremators but also the stalkers as the combine likely uses the same method of taking the brain and plopping it in the body. Jake is reliving his final moments before being captured by the thing in the forest in his own purgatory were he thinks that he made it to the gman which is likely his own imagination, he is seeing the best scenario off his travel in his head

Make sense in the context of the HL timeline, Combine take over happens around the turn of the millennium where analogue tech like VHS camcorders and CRT displays are still the norm.

This series actually doesn't take place in the same half life universe that we play in half life 2. This ARG takes place in the much more terrifying Half Life 2 Beta. If you don't know what it is I REALLY suggest looking it up, as I kinda wish we got the Beta story instead of the one we have now.
Some of the most major differences are Dr Breen being replaced with the Consul, the cut Beta enemies such as cremators and electric dust storms (The green light) and all the others seeming to exist, and of course it being city 14 with stuff like the Air Exchange and Wastelands instead of The Citidal and City 17
The conversation with eli at 13:00 is actually from the cut half life beta as an entire cutscene was set out for him to say the same exact thing he said in the video.

While I find it interesting somewhat, I do see alot of the generic analog horror cliches which kinda ruins it for me. It also feels like a Half-Life version of Squimpus' FNaF tapes if that makes sense. I feel like if it was redone with a more thought-out story and more original aspects, it could be great.
I could be wrong, but in "43," the Citadel looks similar to the one found in the HL2 Beta.

15:45 Fun fact: this is the music from the HL2 Beta "Radio" weapon, im not sure what it does but the gmod recreation of it kills nearby npcs that hear the music
The sound does not come from the radio, it was actually used for the binoculars that were cut from HL2, and it would play the song when zooming in with said weapon.
i saw this video on my recommended and accidentally refreshed my youtube and spent at least 30 minutes to find it... saying it was worth it is an understatement cause of how good this video is

at around 12:44 i have a good guess on what that thing was. its reminiscent of a vortigaunt, though i doubt its one that has free will. judging that it attacked jake, a refugee at that point in the story and is hence a KOS (kill on sight) asset by the combine. it has technical properties on it too ive noticed. same as which in the current half life 2 build vortigaunt slaves have a sort of harnass around their waist.
I think the reason the cut eli maxwell is there, and cause the world is so dark is because this probably takes place in the original version on hl2, which was much more darker than the hl2 we have today.

The consul isn't saying city 17, he's saying "the true citizen" the series at least from what I can gather, is based on the half life 2 beta, and the green light that killed Jake's brother, is maybe a particle storm, it's what eli was talking about, when he said "I think there's some intelligence in there" anyway. Absolutely amazing video, great job

I think the creature in Assassin was the Alien assassin (who could've guessed) an enemy cut during the beta of Half Life 2 as it was extremely similar to the Combine assassin.
In terms of lore, I can see Analog Horror working for the early days of the Combine's rule. Because we would still have technology that was common prior to the Combine's rule. Early rebels trying to expose the Combine's horrific experiments on human bodies, or eveb what happens behind quarantine zones like in HL:A.
It would make sense early on because humanity still has early hope and the illusion of freedom under the Combine's reign before Freeman's arrival.
Honestly I also wanna see Analog Horror for Portal. The lore behind Portal makes sense for the timeline where Analog equipment was commonly used and how Aperture Science commited crimes against science and humanity and God, that's some Happy Meat Farms worth of horror that we sometimes don't realize behind the amazing plot, characters, and gameplay of Portal.

Ok so this YT channel that makes those HL analog horror videos were HEAVILY inspired by Squimpus Mcgrimpus’ FNAF Analog horror tapes. I mean I they are literal blueprints of Mcgrimpus’ videos 😂. I hate that this person never said in their description that it’s inspired by them because when you watch those HL tapes and watch a single video of Squimpus fnaf tapes you’ll see they are the EXACT same just one is Half Life and the other is FNAF. The HL videos were made 2 years ago and the fnaf tapes were made 4 years ago so before anyone defends this being “original” go watch the videos yourself lol
I would like to think that the stalker is Jake just based on the way it is looking around. It’s a loooong stretch but in the final part we see Gman standing to the right of Jake and a few seconds after there is a huge light…like you said he could be Hallucinating… and the scream at the end could be him waking up in his new body after being captured, Also we see the stalker not in a normal combine looking room instead just a empty void which could be where gman puts people in suspended animation yet some how we woke up?…. It’s a huge leap but that’s just my theory.
