I'm an American living in China. I bought a Shijie Tele for my 75yo brother who owns 3 American Strats and Two Gibsons. Shoji delivered his on time for his birthday in Chicago. He says it is the best guitar he has EVER played!
I've bought 3 Shijie guitars. TMD Deluxe, TMD Custom and a TMD 180. The craftsmanship is impeccable. These instructions rank with the best USA made guitars bar none.
@@Terrysoddy They have a "fixed" (hardtail) Strat model that is incredibly good. I have been looking at getting a Robert Cray Fender Strat hardtail but when I heard the word of mouth on Shijie I totally changed my mind because the QC on the Shijie guitars is superior. You get a lot of bang for your buck and the value for the money is impossible to beat. The fit and finish, fretwork, rolled edges on the neck, properly crowned frets, absolutely tight neck pocket, and quality shielding of the electronics make a lot of the big name manufacturers look like they're falling asleep.
Also: as you can see from the video, you can also get a one-piece body from them. Try getting that from Fender outside of the Custom Shop. Most Fenders in this price range have three (or even four!) piece bodies.
It’s nice to see how these are made, you guys put a lot of time and effort into the fretboard and it shows. The value of these guitars is far greater than they cost!
I am very interested in getting one but it looks like they are sold out and I think production has slowed due to covid19. When they're back in business I absolutely want one.
Impressive craftsmanship. Thank you for the shop tour. Looking forward to more videos like this one. I hope you consider offering an option for jumbo stainless steel frets in the future. Keep up the good work
hey, I was looking into it and they frets are actually big ones. I have an ibanez with jumbo frets, and had guitars with medium jumbo. I don't like medium jumbo very much. this is the specs I was told are 2.7*1.4mm frets( 0.106299 * 0.0551181) i have always been confused on fret names and their exact size, but this are big ones.
@@slickcross the language on their website uses Chinese characters, not Japanese. Are you sure? (Not that it really matters because these are still very nice)
That CNC just cut out a guitar body from what appears to be 7/4 - 8/4 ash (could be wrong), in 5 passes 😮. That's insane! Takes me like 20 passes with my plunge router. I now have tool envy.
After learning a couple years ago of Shijie l have wanted one.. being in Miami there is no place to put one in my hands.. so it was having to commit to buying without having ever trying one.. having 3 fender Strats from a partscaster, a Player Plus and a 17 Elite, l need another strat like a hole in the head. So after delaying for 2 years now the price for the model l want has gone up a couple hundred dollars so today l ordered the STE Pro in gold with the extra dark roasted one piece neck with the Shijie signature skunk stripe, SSS configured, Shijie vintage locking tuners, it is a beautiful color combination. To save money l went with sea shipping from China at $70 20-30 days, hell..lve waited this long what's another month? Nice gig bag, big brass block, lm psyched, l may sell my Elite and Player once it arrives and l like it.
Beautiful guitars. Love the tones i have heard from them, but I can't seem to find reviews or audio clips for the DF4 Bass. Is it still being made or is there a link to a review somewhere for the DF4 bass? I am not even sure if I could even get one here in the US as I don't see a US Dealer on the website.
The only thing good about getting old are the monthly social security checks the government keeps sending me, just for staying alive! Fortunately they are just enough to buy another Shijie guitar, so now I'm up to.....many. Today I bought another one, a fixed bridge STE in Daphne blue (about the only color I don't have yet), and with S/S/p90 pickups, having a P-90 in the bridge position will rock! The sales rep Dave is going to find a dark roasted neck for mine, looking forward to playing it. I noticed the older ones from 2020 and early 2021 have necks that are considerably more chunky, which I like, but I like the slimmed down version used now too, which is still chunkier than Fender's "deep C" necks, and feels much better too. Shijie guitars are better than Fender, unless you don't like 12" radius necks and larger frets, but I love them. I rarely see them for sale used, and they have a cult following because they really are superior instruments. The necks are the heart of the guitar, and the first thing I check, and their necks are the best, plus the pickups are great sounding. Obviously I'm a fan, and will keep buying them until they send me a bad one (not likely). Their California dealer "Baylands" is moving to Portland where I live - bought my first two Shijie guitars from him in California, and later another one, the rest are from Leen Music or the Shijie factory, as the current build is coming from. I love that the sales rep will do custom orders for you, if you want stainless steel frets, a dark roasted neck, a one-piece neck (if they still do them?), different pick-guard, locking tuners (or not), etc. Shijie guitars will be widely appreciated in the future, after people realize how good they are!!

Most impressive is the fact that PEOPLE are making these guitars. Not a CNC machine that only provides a greater profit margin. With all the guitars I have it would be nice to dump all the NAME brand and start over with guitars of this QUALITY.
Very weird choice of music for a company that produces guitars... But seriously guys, you have to sort out the shipping. A Shijie T-style (TLV) on AliExpress costs $799 plus $527 just to ship it to Europe. That's kind of steep... ***Edit*** Just learned that shipping on AliExpress is an error. Can be done for way less. Cool!
C17 D18 Hello, sir, the default freight is sometimes inaccurate. You can contact customer service or email me, and I will check the accurate information for you. Usually, the price in Europe is between 80 and 200 dollars
These guys are artists, artists whose medium is wood.
I assume the one assisting is the boss. (seems he has passion for guitar building) and even helps the worker.
I would like to visit the factory.
My next guitar will be a Shijie !!!! Thank You 🙏!!!
Whoever does the fret work needs a raise

I’ve been thinking about buying a Strat model from them, so you would highly recommend them

I bought a Shijie LPM last year - it's a great guitar and well worth the money.
My Shijie shell pink TM-6 just arrived yesterday (Thailand). Thanks a lot to all you amazing craftsmen for these great works!

Very, very impressive!
Excellent process, skilled artisans. I am sure these are excellent guitars after seeing this video. Thanks so much.
Great job!
I plan on buying one in the near future.
Showing how the instruments are made is a good marketing tool.
Love what you do to the frets. Excellent work. 👍
Outstanding production, dreaming one day to buy one of your guitars!
thanks for the video... help me to appreciate the value of Shijie guitars!
Wow! The work they get into the leveling process ist something for Warmoth to have a look at.
For any custom shop to look at.
Great video. Thanks for sharing.
I have been trying to look at your website, but it doesn't work very well.
When I saw them leveling the frets I wanted one.
Just the time/ attention spend crafting the necks, Insane... this is a Luthier level skills.

How interchangeable are the strat model parts with American strats? Items like neck pocket, pick guard and bridge mounting.
I 've bought STE classic strat and it is very good in playability and sound.

Any chance of these guitars being sold in Brazil?
Awesome.
Amazing! Where is your workshop located?
Really want a 7 string baritone from you guys. No clue if that would strictly be a custom order though
Do you make a left handed model
Will there be a cheap knock-off version called a Chijie?
Can you work telecaster guitar Richie kozen
Does Shijie sell parts? I'm in the market for a neck.
I tried that already..it ain't happening.. shame really..l would have bought 3!

i wish i could buy one but the shipping cost to Peru is almost the same as the guitar
