- Step inside the PRS factory in Stevensville, Maryland for a special factory tour narrated by PRS COO and 35 year employee, Jack Higginbotham. The tour explores processes ranging from rough cut to final assembly, sharing the details that define PRS.
We are so lucky that PRS exists. Top notch quality guitars.
It's nice that Paul himself is fully engaged in the making of his instruments.
Yes, they are quite good
Whoever filmed/edited/rendered this video did first rate work... the audio is particularly superb.
I've watched so many factory tours over the years, this is easily the best one yet.
Proves that anything prs releases is quality
Video editor here. I have told countless numbers of people that the audio is way more important than the video of a quality production. You can have many video editing mistakes forgiven if the audio is good/great.
Agreed. Great, great tour video.
@@JoeCubicle I'm not a professional video editor but I'm a music producer and an "audio/visual content" enthusiast, and I agree 100%, good, clear, well-leveled, mixed and mastered audio can make mediocre footage not only bearable but very enjoyable, especially for voice-overs like this.
After watching this I feel even more proud that my PRS is my go to guitar....
Was on the fence about buying a Les Paul or a 594...went with PRS. Right out of the box the McCarty fit and finish was superior and the thing just felt like it was made personally for me. Great guitars
I worked at the Gibson guitar factory in the late 90’s and played Gibsons for about 30 years. I got my first PRS in July, haven’t touched my Gibsons since.
I have had the same experience. Gibson all the way for years and years until I tried a custom 22, added a mccarty and a hollowbody ii since and never gonna look back!
Great playing guitar. Probably one of the best in terms of playability but damn they are expensive. Then again I just bought a five thousand dollar music man 😂
@@ryanmcinnis8190 congrats the music man's are really nice, too. Cut from a similar cloth, imo.
@@evannorth5397
Not the whole line, some are extremely affordable
I still love my Les Paul but my PRS just helps me to be a better player.
I grew up in Stevensville Maryland where they make those amazing guitars, I bought a SE for my Nephew who graduated the Air Force Academy and then went on to become a F-16 pilot, Paul was so kind to sign it to him and and congratulating him, I just bought my first one a SE A40 acoustic, what an amazing looking and sounding guitar, thanks to the whole team at PRS!
Thanks for the love, Andy!
Best guitar manufacturer out there
This makes me want PRS guitar.
You have just disclosed your low IQ and your total lack of guitar knowledge. Actually this type of product is perfect for you.
@@zacharyhandcraftedguitars Great, Thank for philosophical advise.
@@SekRanger Its not philosophical, nor is it advice. Its an observation of your ignorance. The perfect PRS customer you are. If you learn about guitars and become knowledgeable, your whole outlook will change and you will never make such a statement.
@@zacharyhandcraftedguitars Awesome, thank you for not philosophical nor advice. This is perfect for me.
@@zacharyhandcraftedguitars Put the tin hat back on. I'm sure the hundreds of thousands of yearly PRS customers are way dumber than the amazing oracle that is you... Handcrafted guitars? ok mate.. lol.
Paul's wife was one of the nurses when I broke my back. She was really sweet. He,s a lucky guy. That was in 1982.I think he was just getting going with the guitars..Glad it worked out for them..God Bless..
I was lucky enough to tour the factory with Mr. Higginbotham leading the way. Amazing the amount of artistry and craftsmanship that goes into each guitar. I don't play a note on a guitar but was very appreciative of the skill and love that goes into each guitar.
@JTheGuitarPlayer Believe me, I've tried. I wish I could but my fingers just don't listen.
Jack gave me a factory tour back in June and this man treated me like gold. Absolutely no reason to but I felt truly valued and was fascinated with his depth of knowledge and passion for the manufacturing process. The whole experience was wonderful and absolutely galvanized me as a PRS fan for life. Thanks for that experience and for this video. Merry Christmas, guys!
@@zacharyhandcraftedguitars What a ridiculous thing to say. I won't even try to change your mind - everyone here knows how absurd you sound.
@@jordandupont7430 You did not specify what exactly you are referring to. Please do, so I can respond. Do change my mind, I am open to it.
i think they treated you like gold because they figure what they show you will convince you to buy their guitars and make business, actually thats a smart angle right threre
Watching this video, I thought about how satisfied I am with my violin amber sunburst PRS CE24 hanging before me on my wall. I've played it three times today alone and it probably won't be the last. It's a guitar you just don't want to put down. It feels great, it looks great, it plays great and it performs great. What more could you ask from a guitar maker? PRS has achieved greatness. They've earned it. With all that I still had no idea just how much scrutiny these guitars were under making their way out the factory doors.
Me too. I love this company
I've been a Gibson guy for over 40 years, but I have to admit, my 2009 CU24 has been the most stable guitar I have ever owned. It feels solid, comfortable to play and rarely goes out of tune.
When you pick one up you literally FEEL the craftsmanship
I picked up a PRS 13 years ago and never looked back, it just feels like home and plays like butter i love it..
Thanks for the love! Glad you found THE guitar for you.
I might own an American made PRS someday if I sell my 6 Indonesian PRS guitars. They do it right in that factory because each one of the 6 Asian built PRS guitars I own are very stable and stay in tune year after year. If they sit in the case for months I can pull one out and it is still in tune according to my electronic tuner. That is fantastic in my opinion. Keep up the great work PRS !
I’m a local boy, just down the road in Salisbury! Love and play PRS proudly and have been to the factory many times and met both Jack and Paul himself many times. Glad to see this great video!!
Oh and Steel Panther rules! Lol
I'm going in January!
@@GearGasms I'm assuming that was you in the video with the Steel Panther shirt? I've also met Paul, but only once.
Kdogg788 lol no but I do love me some Steel Panther so it was fun to see an employee wearing one
This is amazing. I love when companies showcase their pride in a product.
Such a beautiful process. Thanks for posting
Very nicely done! Thanks so much for bringing us into your house!!
Took the tour in Nov 2019. Incredible. These people love what they do and take pride in their work. I pre-ordered an S2 CU24 35th ann. Can't hardly take the waiting. If you have a chance to take the tour ... do it. After watching a bunch of video tours like this one, seeing it in person was that much more special!
Thank you for this. I made it to Gibson in Memphis one time, and the last tour of the day had already started. i never got to go back before they closed. I love the amount of dedication you put into making sure it's a true PRS. Thanks, again.
I got my PRS CE24 in Blue Matteo on 2/7/2022 mine was made on 12/9/2021 and I love it!! My dream guitar it definitely plays amazing and this video made me finally decide to buy one last week!! The best decision I’ve ever made thank you PRS your team is the best! 🎸😍✌🏼
I really enjoyed this video. Excellent story and voice over with matched video. A joy to watch great instruments being made.
I took the factory tour in August 2019. Wow. So highly impressed. Everything is just like this video showed.
Jack is a great narrator! Love his words! I love how this video shows the people working there with passion and perfection...
Oh and great video and audio editing!
PRS puts gibson and fender in the mud
@@RUARI-mi1yt personally I still prefer my Les Paul custom 57 to my 594 single cut.But they do combine the best of both worlds giving the tremelo and fingerboard radius of a fender with the Gibson-esqu headstock, rosewood and mahogany. They definitely are interesting guitars and personally I love the finishing. Especially the whale blues and faded colors.
Great video tour. Thank you!
I'll be glad when the tours open back up . I look forward to this very much !!!
Best guitars on the planet. Proud owner of 2 core instruments. I'll always stick by PRS's quality.
Thank you for putting the talent and effort in to making every guitar that leaves your factory look, feel and play like a boutique guitar. I love my McCarty 594! It sounds incredible, it plays like a dream, and I don't think that I have tuned it more than three times in the near 2 years I have owned it.
Amazing! The pursuit for perfection in every step. Is inspiring. Congratulations.
This tour is on my bucket list and I plan on making the trip next year.
I have a PRS hollow body and love it. The sound is great! I will never get rid of it and hand it down to my grand son. Thank you paul!
My life goal: quit my IT career and start my new life in Stevensville learning every facet of making the best guitars in the world and become a part of this process.
Kaleb Burkhart please do. Learn the process and skill. And then build your own brand, Burkhart guitars. Make $1000-1500 guitars that put bigger brands triple the price to shame. Make a proof that as long as the wood is good no matter the type or where it came from it will sound the same, and let the pickups do the singing. I’ll be the first to order.
Don’t lol, I work in the same business park. They never pay vendors on time and are always balancing between being broke and barely paying their bills.
You’re hired
Drew Masters and you know this how? You work in accounting for PRS? No you don't
@@iganpparamarta8813 Me thinks you done gone and picked a tone wood argument by throwin' out what you wrote, there...Okay. I'll bite!
Next to the strings, it is wood that generates the pleasing tones we so much desire...your fingers gotta work at it right though...go spend two or three grand on a guitar and then you'll know ( if you come back at me with a clever rebuttal, then i guess you just don't yet understand...) to help you out, i'll give you an assignment: take a cheap Chinese Strat, then swap out the pick assembly into a Mexican, Japanese, American standard, and then finally a custom shop Strat...do that and then come tell us they all sound the same...bullocks, man, and you know it! ( make double sure you use the shitty-ist damn pickups of the lot...the Chinese made ones...) The final 'proof of the pudding' is this: ' hey, wanna swap my new China Strat for your beat up Customshop Relic? Just as I thought...you don't own one...
That was absolutely beautiful and engaging. Deepened my love for PRS Guitars.
Thank you for the detailed insightful video! This was such a delight to watch..
My mother was a builder of musical instruments by vocation, so this video really touched part of me in a wholesome way. Thank you; and keep doing your thing! 💕
My CE 24 is almost paid off on layaway. I'm so psyched I can't wait
@@mr.nobody68 The guitar is beautiful, but my PRS experience is a bit soured because the guitar was not even close to setup properly. I think it's partially the music stores fault but I don't see how PRS would let a guitar so far out of spec leave the factory.
I'll either work on it myself, or send it to a luthier when I get time. I'm too bogged down with other projects to mess with it atm.
Beautifully done video tour! VERY impressive technology! I hope to do it in person sometime. Thanks for posting.
This is a really interesting and enjoyable journey to making and building a guitar. Thank you
Outstanding video, and outstanding guitars, some of the HIGHEST quality builds in the country and probably in the world
I have a treasured 513 that is beyond amazing, and recently had the great pleasure to meet Paul at Righteous Guitars in Atlanta, and he signed it. Wow, right? I love seeing the story of where it was made and more importantly, by whom it was made. It’s in a great home. My cup runneth over. Thank you!
'96 Customer 24 owner here. Can tell you that even back then, the guitars were made with love. It plays like an absolute dream, and still looks as amazing today as it did nearly 25 years ago when I bought it from a little shop in Windsor, Ontario.....
Had always wanted a PRS, from the first time I saw one, The quality was dripping from those on display. Just bought one after several decades of drooling,. SO beautiful and so nice to play.
That magical place also makes everlasting Gobstoppers!!!
Imagine if Paul presented himself as a gene wilder style willy wonka only make guitars instead 😂
Spitting is a nasty habit.
Now that's one company that I'd be proud to work for. Professional in every way.
You can tell a lot of time and attention went into the making of this video. Super informative. I'm so impressed with how high of a standard that these instruments are manufactured against.
I love the painting designs!!
I have a PRS SE semi in orange. Previously Strats. I now want a solid CE in Aquamarine. They are superb to play and sound amazing.
Been playing Paul Reed Smith Guitars since 1996. Absolutely hands down the best instruments for a working musician money can buy. They’re second to none. ❤️
Beautiful video! Congrats!
Always very interesting to learn more about my favorite guitar company!
I love my PRS guitars! 2 of them are over 19 years old. I have 1000 times more respect seeing how much love went into all the details. Amazing work! Would love to see how you made the Hollowbody II as well.
Absolutely a eye opening experience with the history behind the scenes of music... in depth look into the world of guitars...amazing how heart and soul is put into this process... it’s just as important to those who make this magic to those who turn the tunes into magic ...
Great video really enjoyed the tour.👌
This was really enjoyable to watch and listen to.
LOVE my PRS. Feels like home.
What a beautiful, well made documentary. It has a zen-like quality. Well done guys!
Yes a very good Documentary great work, and quality
An amazing video of how much and what it takes to bring a Great guitar in to someone hands. Thumbs up PRS!..
Awesome! My tremontie will be in my hands in February! Hope to come take a tour soon!
Guitar sort of has two parts to it
Playing
And the act of being a luthier
I absolutely love what goes into making guitars specifically PRS
They've mastered the flame tops imo. I just love the way they look. A PRS is gonna be my next purchase I think. First I need to recover from buying a Kemper Profiler tho. lol
Manufactured works of art. Thank you.
This tour is on my bucket list!!
As a proud owner of a few guitars I can honestly say that the best guitar I own, my go to when I want perfection, is my PRS SC245. What a great instrument! Thank you to all of you over there doing an amazing meticulous job. Keep it going!!!
This helps me understand why the core series costs as much as it does. I didn't think it was possible to want a PRS more.
Deep respect to your team, incredible work, your guitars have a soul 😊
Awesome it cant get any better the color the shine the smoothness and the sound is just superb stunning and breathtaking .
Im impressed with the neck part! entirely one month only for the neck!!!! #respect
i love it that theres a guy in the PRS factory wearing steel panther shirts!
Your pain doing this hard work becomes our joy. Thank you.
Man this is beautiful work. God bless!!!
I am happy to say I'm the proud owner of a whale blue S2 singlecut, a Tremonti SE singlecut, and a custom 24 SE in trampas green. They're are exceptional guitars! I live about an hour and a half north in PA and I'm planning to make a trip down to the Stevensville plant soon. And I would really like Paul to sign my electronics cover.
Frankie Five Aces I live in MD and have been to the PRS Experience 2x. It’s well worth the drive - I bought my last hollowbody there.
you know that your se are cheap knockoff asia guitars? when you ve ever tried an original you will notice the difference
cheers
fickbasterd they aren’t knockoff
@@Cookie4yabro he is a troll and an idiot. My SE is no knockoff either, I bet this chump is just mad bc he doesn't have one
I have a Custom 24 SE in trampas green also. I can honestly tell you it's way better than my 2007 20th Anniversary Single Cut 10 top. It really isn't even a close comparison.
PRS kept people in charge that actually know what goes into making a great instrument. I thought I was going to hear 20 minutes about marketing the product with claims of authenticity and heritage. The attention to wood quality is incredible.
PRS puts gibson and fender in the mud
PRS is setting the standard for well made guitars. It is truly a team effort with a great deal of forethought and attention to detail. Building one of the best guitars in the world has just got to be a satisfying experience for the builder and the player. 👍👍👍
Very impressive factory tour thank you
This guy looks like Mr. Incredible’s boss in the first Incredibles movie lol
Dude XDXD
Wow, a toothbrush! Good to know I have a pro luthier tool in the house!
I have a PRS Santana Gold Burst and I've been lovin' every minute playing it. I feel even more proud after watching this awesome video.
Absolutely beautiful guitars! One day I will have one!!
They gave me the nicest rejection letter when I applied. I still think about it from time to time.
I loved my CE24 for the exact reasons that this video shows how great the factory is. Mine was recently stolen but I went to a store today to look for a replacement and the best guitars in the whole store were all PRS by far! Even the used instruments were all above and beyond in quality and tone of anything else I’ve played. It feels silly to say but honestly it makes playing other guitars half the fun!
WOW, loved this. Thanks.
This video was incredible, really appreciate your effort in making great instruments. Cool video!
I own a McCarty 594. Phenomenal guitar. Clearest humbucking tone I’ve ever heard, stays in tune as well as a tele and is an ergonomic marvel. Can’t find a single complaint.
That is because you are a hack and know nothing about guitars. The quintessential PRS consumer.
You are also a Beta male with low T.
Well Zachary, is that how you talk to a possible future customer?
@@frozendivots1564 I don't subscribe to the corporate, commercial system of doing things. I build every guitar for myself and if I feel that someone qualifies and deserve it, I will be honored to have the play it.
The process of every guitar is that I dream it and then I create it. This way what you hear from me is unfiltered and completely sincere. I give your the truth. I am not a cheesy salesman like Paul is. I am a guitar builder.
Zachary Handcrafted Guitars all guitar builders are good in my book. Great guitars everywhere. I have nothing against Paul, he did what he wanted and good for him. I have been buying guitars since the early 80’s, I own almost all of them. So many great guitars out there. No reason to hate...
@@frozendivots1564 No hate here but you are an SJW. The people are PRS are NOT guitar builders and neither is Paul. Paul is a cheesy salesman. You can buy all the CNC made guitars you want, you will never bond with any one of them. They are inorganic and the human rejects it. They are sterile and lifeless, even if their plastic coating is flawless. Wake up Normie. Your world is shut down because of your ignorance. Next come your shackles.
PRS has some of the most beautiful guitars I’ve seen

The quality of this video is tantamount to the quality of their guitars. Very well documented.
Great video! All the PRS guitars I have played have been wonderful. I hope to purchase one someday.
Are tickets available for Experience PRS? I haven’t seen any available.
2:10 my guy with the Steel Panther top
Excellent video! I treated myself to an artist series 594 this year, and my god what a beautiful instrument. I plan to make a trip to the factory sometime in 2020!
I just saw they had an opening listed inspecting the SE guitars. Talk about a dream gig.
I want to be apart of that 1st group after COVID-19 is over
I always ask myself who the dillweeds that "thumbs-down" videos like this are. What, exactly, annoyed y'all? Although I don't own a PRS, I thought this a terrific way to spend 26 minutes of my life. Seemed far more like "craft" than "factory" to me.
Probably the 21 people who still support Gibson these days
People who say they don’t want one, but secretly desire one more than almost any material thing.
Bro theyre just Australians tryna press the like button chill out 😂
@Ron Gillespie I've met him a couple of times at Sweetwater's GearFest and he seemed very gracious and real. Posed for photo ops, answered questions, made jokes. Guess everyone has good and bad days.
@Nintariz His contraction was correct and yours is not, so why would that annoy you?
Love this tour video, love these guitars!
I'm so thankful to you guys to take so much effort to manufacture the beautiful work of art. To be able to see what go into manufacturing was a great experience. Thanks again PRS. I am not an owner yet but I love your guard and should have one in my collection soon.
A question that I've always wondered, who hand writes the gold serial numbers on the headstock? Perhaps a 1 to 2 minute video could show how that process is done.
I'm sure that's screen printed on to the head-stock
@@stephenbaldwin2009 no the serial numbers are hand written on usa models
They are most certainly hand written on core models. On Private Stock models Paul Miles puts the finishing hand written touches on the back of the headstock.

very interesting factory tour. Seemed kind of generic to me though anyway I've been trying to perfectly estimate how many times perfect was used in this video especially the first halfand I'm afraid being human I can't do that but I guess they can do that at PRS can't they LOL not really the biggest PRS fan in this video didn't do much to change my mind.
