Hi there, thanks for the video, I unfortunately do not share your opinion on the Leatt C-Frame Carbon, I bought a pair 2 years ago from your site after an ACL injury while skiing, during my recovery period I had researched and compared knee braces to choose the best protection with out any limitations on the budget my main concern was zero compromise on safety ... I was attracted by the innovation (marketing video) of C-frame and the fact that the inner of my knee would be free and allow a better grip on the bike (just to clarify, I ride Enduro and hard Enduro and the brace was intended to protect me while riding) when I received them the fit was great, they were extremely comfy, I wore them all day and forgot I had them on, putting them on and taking them off was also easy, I really felt good and well protected in them... after a few rides, actually only the 3rd or 4th easy ride as I was still recovering after 8month of muscle loss and no riding, the cable broke completely and i was feeling friction on the outer side of my knee, only to figure out at the end of the ride that the cable was broken and the metal filaments had been scratching my skin and had caused a very deep and bloody cut. I had no serious crash that day...
I wrote to Leatt few days afterwards and reported the situation, they wanted nothing to do with it, I complained to your ordering site by email, and you professionally sent me a set of replacement hinges I only had to pay the shipping, thanks for that, while replacing them, I figured many screws were also broken!!! That’s when I was extremely disappointed with the quality of the material.... I replaced them all only to have the same problem few month afterwards... I fixed them again and had to check them after each ride to make sure I was getting the proper protection. I got used to the idea and all went well until 2 weeks ago, almost 2years after purchasing the C-frame, I was on my first round discovering a new motocross track, going really slow trying to understand the track, I unfortunately, to my bad luck followed a resident rider and took a jump that should have been marked No Access being a double jump with no flat!!! The resident rider jumped and I crashed nastily in the ditch having no speed to cross. The crash was bad, the jump was dangerous and unmarked, but we do sometimes fall similar in Enduro! And I was wearing all my safety gear, the Atlas neck brace worked perfect, the Shiro helmet and goggles did their job, the Fox body armor and the Alpinestars boots had their share of the shock but worked efficiently... the only piece that did nothing was the Leatt C-Frame Carbon knee brace!!! It was intact, no cables broken, no carbon broken (not even the breaking points) everything in place looking Ready to ride! Except that the knee underneath with the muscles around it in bits and pieces. Reading the MRI report the next day was as long as a newspaper! MCL, PCL, PLC, 1 tendon and 2 grade 2 muscles tear!!!!!!! Not to mention the bonus bones trauma, the only ligaments that survived are the previously reconstructed ACL since they were perfectly done by a top sports orthopedic surgeon , and surely not because of the protection provided by the brace!!! I’m really confused and it’s been 2 weeks I’m suffering and waiting for the swelling to reduce in order to have a clear vision of the damage and the complexity of the recovery process.
I just haphazardly saw your review and thought it was important to share with fellow riders my terrible experience with Leatt, the company and the Braces! I sincerely do not advise them to anyone anymore, even though I lately discovered the new generation at Eicma (Milan) and noticed that they replaced the cable with a mechanical joint, it might be that they have understood the defects and downturns of the previous generation, but they never admitted at least not to me, and they issued no recalls nor warnings, moreover they refused to replace my defected part which you generously did without any insistance.
In all cases Leatt has lost my trust and I am currently with a serious injury, 3 completely torn ligaments, 1 tendon, and 2 grade 2 torn muscles! This is not what I paid for when I trusted Leatt, this is not what I expected from a knee brace that is not cheap, this is not what my stupid crash should have caused if I were wearing a proper knee brace that did it’s job.
Sorry to seem negative at the beginning of this new year, but I have a minimum 8 months of suffering, frustration and time wasting recovering, not to mention that I’m out of the competition for the next year, I was one of the favored to win again.
Your opinions and personal experiences will be greatly appreciated, now that I’m shopping for new reliable knee braces.
Oh I forgot to mention also that the left knee cap protection also broke! So not only the metal is unreliable , the plastic is as vulnerable!
I wish you all a safe and wonderful 2019 ✌️
    Riccardo (Ricco 07)

Props to RevZilla for keeping this review/comment from this rider. And thank you Riccardo for taking the time to articulate so well the event and the outcome. I feel you were respectful but direct in your approach. I'm not the expert on knee braces, doing my research now. What I do know is nothing on the market today can prevent every injury in every situation. I'm mid 50's and have raced BITD, outdoor mx, GPs, enduro, arenacross, and good old single track with friends. Been on bikes since I was 11yo. I've had a lot of injuries over the years and not once could I blame any piece of my gear. With that said I could have prevented my injuries from being as bad as they were had I invested in them, worn them, and done the best research possible for my desired outcome. Take for example helmets. I've seen hundreds of kids show up at the tracks with their parents dawning an HJC where the parent was yelling at their kid to go fast and huck that gap. This brings me to my moto...ten dollar helmet, ten dollar head. Although $500 for a set of knee braces seems expensive, that's a bargain for what you get. You want to jump timing doubles on an mx track and expect your knees to survive a bad crash? Buy the best. Not saying what that is, but it's out there. Otherwise we compromise a bit and on that day a crash happens you hope you did everything right and your brace(s) does it's best. Not calling anyone out, just saying the perfect purchase for the perfect crash doesn't exist.

The build up to crashing so hard that someone catches it on Instagram. Damm made me believe leatt would cover medical expenses or give you a knee brace for free lol. And you tell us we can buy it separately

Just an FYI: NO knee brace will be covered by your insurance company unless its sold through a company in your insurance network. Meaning its highly unlikely for your insurance company to reimburse you for this knee brace, regardless of having a doctors prescription and the knee brace being "medically certified". With that said, its probably still a good idea to get them or another type of brace to help protect your knees while riding.

Purchased Leatt C-Frame Braces in 2017. As of 2021... fabric lining on padding foam is
separating and all padding needs replacement (there is a kit for this).
Securing straps are worn out and need replacement (there is a kit for
this). I love the feel of these braces, but the aforementioned parts
should be of better quality. I have had the same problem with Leatt's
body armour and the fabric lining separating from the padding. Not
impressed with overall quality. Designed in South Africa and made in
    China says it all.

I’m a skateboarder and I blew out both of my knees multiple times.. I know I should stop skating but I love doing it so much. Anyways. Do you think this would be good to use to skate in? My knee would bend backwards, inwards and outwards. I’m also looking into buying a bike as well always wanted one

leatt... if you crash so hard.. as you said you can buy them single... for $300 BUCKS.. THE Cframe hinge wears out in such a short time. still slides down your leg, AND i on my 3rd replacement strap on the number 1 due to tearing by the velcro.. pinches the back of your knee.... knee braces are a great idea, but they have a long way to go. and blowing $500 on a pair to last three races.. i would rather tear my knees up...
