I have one of these which I got at a great price on a Black Friday deal. I use it weekly for a deeper clean, using another make cordless the rest of the time. It always leaves the carpets looking great and I find it easy to switch to lift off for stairs and upholstery. I vacuum the filter after every use with my handheld and the machine works perfectly ever time. With the easy life mine has, I’m sure it will last the test of time. Has a 5 year warranty anyway.
Something that will forever dissuade me from getting a Shark is their sheer irreparability. They're held together by snaps and security screws for god's sake!
@@peptheblue The guarantee doesn't cover most of the vacuum, but that's not the point. It's awful for the environment to be throwing out these massive hunks of otherwise repairable plastic.
@@huskyvacs Normal screws? Not sure what it's like where you are, but in Europe/the UK they're held together with either phillips or torx screws, meaning easy reparability. If unreparability is the norm for where you are then I fear for the future of the vacuum industry there.
I own 4 shark vacuums, shark corded upright (pz1000uk) and shark corded upright pet (nz801ukt). Also I have 2 shark cordlesses basically identical but one doesn’t have the flexology wand. I’ve been through dysons, Henry’s, vax, panasonic, samsung, hoover. Nothing has come close to the versatility of a shark, liftaway feature is great, so is the anti wrap, and duo clean is great too. Sharks seem to pick up better then my previous vacuums, so therefore I love shark
Great video… I’m not a Shark fan (fussy design, too chunky) but I have to say I’m impressed with its performance. Very good at removing the purple sand…
My shark duo clean corded stick is great on hard floors i love it for that its ok on carpet, my filter maintenance consists of monthly wash and every time i use it i vacuum the filter with the hose on my sebo upright. My experience is with most bagless cleaners they need constant filter maintenance which is a total bore, when the sebo is full whip the bag out and a new one in and in seconds the cleaner is ready to go.
It is madness isn't it. I use my mains powered vac to vac out the cones of the old Dyson stick I own. My son was visiting and helping me to move furniture and laughed when he saw it, and said "What? You need a vac to clean out a vac?"
Thank you for this video Roger. Like so many bagless cleaners, this vacuum sounds really noisy. Though some people aren’t bothered by a noisy vacuum, it could make you want to keep your vacuuming sessions quite short. Would love to see Shark create a quieter bagged Stratos upright.
I’m looking at getting this vacuum, but it was a toss up between this and the upright lift away, but after having watched your video for that one it seems like I’ll struggle to push it as I have very high pile carpet. Was this easier to push? Without suction being less? Your videos are so helpful!
Like you, I like a good bag vacuum, preferably a Canister like the vintage US Electrolux. A Kirby is a good vacuum, but it is limited because it is an upright. Shark vacuums are very expensive disposable vacuums.
Thanks immensely. Your videos have provided my family with hours of entertainment. Is there any way I can contact you directly outside of social media (i.e email)? I’m in Japan where there are tons of vacuums I’m sure you’d be interested in.
Dude, that first black and green colorway is sick! Is that a UK exclusive? They only have the blue model here or the lower end wine red ones. Would've preferred that one instead in a heartbeat.
Electrolux zev1 haven't heard of it, not surprised as far as i know the extremely rare. But somehow i have one. I don't like duoclean it rubs in the dirt and you can't get to the edge.
The only issue I have with Sharks is no matter how clean you keep the filters, how much you wash all the suction channels - somewhere - somehow - after exactly 3-5 months time the suction drops off a cliff and the vacuum no longer performs as it did when new. It's like they have some kind of valve that breaks off somewhere, I can't figure it out.
I don’t hate shark however they do have quite a few flaws. My biggest issues with them is parts availability, poor cyclone set up and build quality. However when they work they’re decent machines but I still prefer bagged vacuums.
I detest bag vacuums. Always loved my Dyson's but just bought this shark but the cone on mine is pointy. Suction is insanely good! Loving my shark stratos but we'll see how long it lasts! Thx for the video.
Shark really needs to improve their cyclonic system. While for being a single cyclone, it does preform well, the fact the filters get dirty quickly is a concern for me. About the non-removable brushroll; I firmly believe that tactic was created by manufactures strictly for cooperate greed and creating more e-waste. They figure by the time the brush wears out or need replacing, the vacuum will have died, or the user will notice it's not picking up anymore, trash it, and buy another. I'm honestly surprised nobody has created a vacuum that has filter that cannot be washed or replaced. Once the filter clogs, you throw the vacuum away and buy a new one.
Vacuum cleaners should last at least 10 years in a home. The new ‘disposable’ machines are absolutely horrible. Shark, dyson, Bissel and the other manufacturers should be ashamed of themselves. Vacuum cleaners should be designed to last as long as possible. Shark vacuums in particular are designed to be used for a few years and then be replaced by the latest machine.
It will take Shark to produce one bagged vacuum for other vacuum brands to go back to bagged. Sharks are good, but the bins are deceiving. They look like they have are large capacity, but once removed from the machine, they are quite small.
I vacuum daily my shark the largest sponge filter monthly the small we on 3 monthly and exhausted 6 month i have two wood burners to cat and husband that never takes shoes off when coming in i alwsys have spare filters
I don’t run out of toilet paper, toothpaste, printer ink or anything I consume because I always have backup stock. The same goes for the bags I have for the many new and vintage bagged vacuum cleaners I own and use. The bagless machines get sold to people who don’t mind the frequent filter washing and messy emptying.
It's an ugly beast as well as being noisy. The sad dart is bagged cleaners are not as environmentally friendly as bagless cleaners, all that extra mass in landfills opposed to washable filters. Their bigger machines always look a bit flimsy compared to competitors like Samsung, Dyson and Meile. The anti odour system is a gimmick and can be achieved by adding a drop or 2 of essential oils or a spray of Zaflora to the filters. The waste canister is very badly designed for the central cyclone shroud to be able to get so badly clogged so quickly. It us also very deceptive as it looks loke it will hold a lot of debris but the usable bin is quite slim and small.

Which version of the stick one do you have?
If you aren't aware, shark discontinued their bagless cylinder vacuum cleaner not too long ago. Not sure why that is.
It’s because it wasn’t a very popular machine, a lot of people prefer uprights.

It is not noisy in real life. in fact it’s one of the quietest uprights I’ve used. Cleaners sold in the UK and EU have to be under 80db.
I've purchased one on sale recently, it's actually the most quiet I have ever used myself.
did you know that the bissell revolution hydrosteam is out? That carpet cleaner can output steam. Would be nice to see you test it out.
