So I just got my shark STRATOS130 I use this code on the shark website and got this unit for $299. I was concerned after watching other reviews from vacuum snobs. I am more than satisfied after getting it out of the box and using it. I’ve had Dysons, Hoover’s and I just did not want to go spend $700-$1500 on sebo or mila. Best vacuum I’ve purchased under $400!
I just got the Shark Stratos Ultralight Corded Stick Vacuum for only $219!!! Brand new. I'm in LOVE!!!! OMG, it's so powerful and amazing!! Unbelievable suction power on both hard floors and carpet!!! I prefer corded stick vacuums over cordless to maintain constant suction and power and air flow. It's more of a pain for the battery to die mid-cleaning than deal with a cord. But the Stratos corded stick has 30' of cord and goes a longggggg way, so it had a cordless feel to it. I have a Sirena water filtration vacuum that I LOVE for heavy-duty total home cleaning, but the Stratos corded stick is excellent for in-between cleanings. I cleaned just my stairs first with my Stratos and had a dust cup full of pet hair before I even finished my stairs!!!! Like WOW!!! Used the same pet turbo brush with PowerFins that you showed and no hair wrap! The only drawback on the Stratos stick is a very small dirt cup. But it has fully-sealed HEPA filtration. YAY! So I'd definitely get this Stratos lift away upright for sure if I didn't already have my $800 Sirena. Thanks for the review! Stratos looks like the best Shark out there!!!! And right now it's on sale at Shark website for only $299!!!
To be honest with the review, I wouldn't pick up cereal and kibble on hard floor with the floor vac.. I'd use the wand feature, which I'm sure is more effective anyway.
We’ve owned many Shark vacuums, all have outperformed others. As a Sheltie breeder, dog hair is an issue. My biggest complaint has always been cleaning the roller heads. Your video has sold me on purchasing the new model. Excellent review.
That the problem. You have owned many. That’s the issue with shark. They are disposable. Buy a vacuum you only need one of. One that doesn’t last a year before breaking.
Bought this vacuum after being continually frustrated with the lack of performance from my dirt devil vacuum. Arrived yesterday, cleaned yesterday. I was very very impressed with the performance of this vacuum! Thanks for reviewing this vacuum.
Hey James, I gotta appreciate you not compressing or turning the volume of the vacuum down for the video! It sure did make my ears ring loudly! Lol cool vacuum though. But wear hearing pro if you use it or hopefully it’s just not as loud in real life as it was in the video. 😳
Oh my goodness Bailey is looking so much like your other golden as she gets older. I don't remember her name anymore cause it's been so long but she was a treat to see as well.
It would be way to heavy for me. At that price it's a not for me too. Bailey is just the sweetest dog a person can have, so is Elle. Our little Abby is getting old and it's heartbreaking to think of her not with us any longer. Thanks for the review, James. Have a great week! 🥰🥰
It’s not heavy at all. I have some medical problems and my muscles are weak. I can lift it with zero difficulties. I got mine (not this exact model. No pet tools) during the holidays last year for $100.00!
@@ShirlBussman I also have spine issues from my neck to my sacrum. I don’t have the fancy one he’s reviewing but the one I got was originally $225.00. It is in the Lift-away line Shark has. This is my second one in 10years with numerous pets.
Pay the extra money for a shark, they're def worth it and work perfect. I own a rotator pro pet and even though it's almost 5 yrs old still works perfect with weekly use.
My mom owns the Apex model. Excellent vacuum and great warranty service. She followed all filter instructions but the old motor was overheating after a year at the time. She didn't know at the time that it came with a 5 year warranty. It saved us a lot of money. After following troubleshooting and going over what we done to try to remedy the issue before coming to them they approved a replacement of the whole motor part. Part looks just like new and haven't had an issue since. Instead of returning the old motor they just told us to recycle it at our local junk yard, which I did.
I really like Shark vacuums but my one main gripe has always been the super high clearance of the canister part so it's hard to get under tables/beds despite the low profile of the front.... so that powered lift away feature is awesome. This might be my next vacuum.
@Good Gremlin Media try not being so rude and elitist especially over vacuums. The shark I used for a couple years worked well although I had a few gripes with it. Not everyone has the budget to "get out of Walmart" when vacuum shipping. In the end what does it matter? Are you pulling out your uber expensive vacuum to show off to your friends and brag about how much it costs? Probably not and if so that would be kinda weird. I had a $35 *walmart* Bissell that lasted longer and honestly worked better than any other vacuum I've owned.. it was a light weight plastic piece of crap but it never busted up on me, I just wore out the cord.
@@spaceishigh No. it’s not elitist to spend $800 on a vacuum that lasts 20 years. How is that elitist. It’s financially responsible? That $50 Bissell might suck up dirt but it’s actually dirtying the air as it goes. An unsealed vacuum is a glorified dust relocator. If you have the money to buy a new vacuum every year then you have the money to buy one vacuum that lasts 20 years. Hell you can buy a $200 used Riccar from the Vibrance platform that will last you a decade if you change the belts, brushes, and maintain it properly. You don’t need a small fortune to have a clean home. Just common sense and knowing what you are buying helps too.
I am considering getting this for a review. But $500 is to much for a shark. Most Dysons cost that. Sharks are good but have two major flaws. There cyclone systems are almost useless and mean the filters get clogged with dirt very fast. Two is that Sharks warranty service is basically nonexistent. So good luck getting help from them. Trust me I have reviewed hundreds of vacuums over 5 years.
I've had the cordless Vertex for almost two years, and while I have to say I do absolutely love it, you're spot on with the filters getting dirty very fast. I believe they say to clean the pre-motor filter should be washed monthly, but I find I need to do it twice a month. Maybe I'm just anal about it, but it always seems filthy after a couple weeks.
@@eric3529 I have the cordless vertex too. With regular use I clean the filters every two weeks. I also have the Dyson v15 which I forgot to clean the filters for months and they were still clean.
This is the kind of vacuum I would want. I broke a cheap Eureka one years ago because of hair wrap around the roller. I didn't know until that vacuum that hair wrap breakage was a thing. I have quite a bit of hair that falls out when I'm styling and I think this would do the trick. I do also really like the lift away aspect for under low furniture which I do have and my current vacuum doesn't fit under there. Lastly I am intrigued by the filter that supposedly eliminates vacuum odors. My current vacuum started to smell really bad after awhile which is one of the major reasons why I got a new one. I got the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser but haven't been able to test it out yet. The price between that one and the Stratos is a major factor in why I wouldn't buy this one. Seems to be a major upgrade in features though from the Apex. So glad to see Bailey be the star of another video. She looked very happy to donate hair to the vacuum cause.
Thanks for the information, my apex just stopped working and honestly it’s the best vacuum I’ve had, but looking for an upgrade this stratos sounds very convenient! Little expensive but I think is worthy
LOL I've owned 2 Goldens, one of them, I named HaHa, but sadly he got cancer at age 5 and had to be put to sleep. My other one, AU is 8 years old now. (Au is the chemical name for gold, and sounds a lot like Hey You). Goldens shed more than any dog I've ever had...especially when they blow their coats twice a year. It seems like for about 2 weeks each time you have 15 dogs shedding in the house rather than just 1 golden. I've been using a 12 amp Eureka, that on the vacuum itself has a big sticker that claimers "Better than Dyson at 1/2 the price" I paid about $110 dollars for it 10 years ago and it really has impressed me....great suction power and picks up golden retriever hair wonderfully. I do love that Shark though...it is more versatile as far as how one can make it a portable with one click, and the bucket looks easier to dump. And wow...no hair on the rollers! My Eureka can't do that. Also, hair inside of the Eureka's canister gets caught between the container and the 'hurricane funnels' at the top of the canister...So I have to reach up, and with my fingers snag and pull clumps of hair from that area.
I love shark vacuums. They have the best technology. I bought the Duoclean NV835 over 4 years ago and honestly sometimes I wish it would break down so I have an excuse to buy one of these new powerfin models. Mine is excellent at picking up pet hair and human hair but it tangles in the brush roll every time. No matter how much I abuse it though it still works like new.
Best technology? Seriously? What are you basing this one. There’s so many other brands out there that work better and last longer? Sounds like your vacuum knowledge is limited to what you can get at target.
Best vacuum I've ever owned. Your review reveals exactly what I've experienced using the Stratos. The steam mop works fine, but the upgrade (S7001TGT) is the one you want. Too bad Shark only sends customers the S1000 mop.
Thank you for another great comparison. I am on a quest for a cordless that word as well as a corded vacuum. I have several in my basement as my closet won’t hold them all LOL I’m at the point I have them delivered at my neighbors so hubby won’t say “OH NO NOT ANOTHER VACUUM HaHa!!!! Although he is right and I need to stop! Love your channel, you are so helpful especially with all my gadget buys
I'm still using the Dyson I bought in 2015 it still works as good as it did new. My only complaint is long hair from 3 women and sewing thread wrap around the beater bar. Dog hair from 3 dogs German Shepherd and 2 Shiba Inu's is no problem. I've vacuumed drywall dust, flour, powdered sugar, saw dust with my Dyson no problem.
We still have the shark slim thats still kicking butt! Love your reviews!! What a beautiful dog you have as well can't go wrong with Bailey in your review!!
good thorough review as usual james but i will be more interested to see how well its performing in a years time. These things are usually great out of the box but over time can wear and lose suction etc, so should be relevant in another year. Were there any removable filters to clean as in my current shark vacuum ( unless i missed that part lol ) cheers
I've got a Shark Duo that I bought in 2017, and it still picks up as good as it did when it was new. I've never had a problem with it. It's doesn't handle pet hair as well as the newer models, but otherwise picks up dirt/debris just as well.
The hardest thing to test is how much of the embedded fur does it pull out. Traditionally, it requires a high suction/airflow vacuum with bristles that extend deep into the carpet pile. The best vacuum I have found for this is a Kirby with either the pet brush-roll or the firm brush roll. However, Kirby vacuums are only really practical for carpet. What I mean by that is that they can* clean virtually everything else, but the Kirby has to be converted to use the hose attachments or the hose and hard floor tool for hard floors. Kirbys do not store the hose or any of the tools on-board. However, they are built out of metal - like a tank. They are like those vacuums from decades ago that are built well, are super powerful, and last for decades. I keep one stored in the closet for the occasional once-a-month deep cleaning of the carpet. I use my Miele C3 canister all other times. If I want to use an upright and need to clean more than just the carpet, I typically use the Shark. If I am vacuuming up heavy duty stuff, like debris from a construction job, I use the Kirby.
I have the apex like you do. It’s powerful but it drives me crazy the amount of pet hair that gets wrapped around the brush roll. The small bin is also annoying. Before I saw this video I was considering the dyson ball animal or multi floor. Due to the steep price tag of both and already having a pricy shark I’d love your thoughts on the stratos vs the dyson ball. Thanks for great content.
I have the dyson, it is several years old, but have hated it since day 1. Was advised at the vacuum store not to get it, but I had a couple of friends that recommended. Paid alot more than this shark and didnt like it at all.
The Dyson feels very cheap for the price. Very thin plastic; especially on the handle. I've opened 3 different Dyson's (Animal Ball Extra, V15, and V10) to set up displays that had broken attachments or parts. Dyson has a far better cyclone and doesn't make the pre motor filters dirty as quickly as Sharks do. The ball swivel on the Dyson's does make it agile, but also makes the vacuum incredibly clunky and tall at the floor head. Dyson does not perform as well on hard floors as the Duo Clean Sharks, but does a better job getting embedded dirt out of carpet. Both do amazing with hair. I've never opened a Shark that had any broken parts. They're still made of cheap plastic, but the plastic is nowhere near as chintzy or thin. The Sharks also are far more versatile. The Powered Lift-Away function makes it three vacuums in one. The Swivel head on the Sharks are more agile in my opinion and don't make the vacuum feel needlessly bulky. They both have incredible suction, but I'd say Shark narrowly edges the Dyson out. They're both designed to be disposable. Replacement parts are far and few in-between. I feel the Shark will last longer with proper maintenance, but we're not talking about lasting anywhere near as long as a German vacuum. If you have more carpet and live in a dusty or sandy area? Buy the Dyson. If you have a lot of hard flooring, furniture to clean under, stairs, or pets? Get the Shark.
House is coming along looks nice the new wall paint color I have simular gray color throughout my whole house except I still need to paint the laundry room and closets in time 😁
Bailey is the best!!! I have 2 dogs and 3 cats and the hair drives me crazy. I would LOVE a whole video or two on strictly pet hair items that help with the house and laundry !!!!!
I was debating between the newer soft roll brush vs the old brushing system and I decided with the old brush system since it’s more efficient on hard floors
After years of watching this is the first product I’m going to buy because within the past three days I’ve been on a hunt for a new vacuum, I’ve just been lazy to do the research so finding it here helps out thanks James
Here’s what people don’t know about vacuums. They work the best when they’re brand new. I was in the cleaning business for a long time, years ago. Eventually dust in the vacuum permeates the machine, bag, or canister. You must be diligent by taking the vacuum outside and knocking as much dust off / out of it as possible after it’s emptied. As time goes on the force of the vacuum diminishes. Your new vacuum will always work best the first few weeks you own it. I bought a Hoover specially made for pet hair. I now have to use tape around the canister / vacuum connection to keep the dust from escalating. If your vacuum has filters, don’t ignore them. Wash the washable ones and replace the paper ones. If your vacuum ever shorts out DON’T try to get it to work by monkeying around with it. That’s a safety feature designed to keep you from getting electrocuted or the outlet from catching on fire. Don’t waste money getting it repaired at a repair shop. Throw it out ( sorry ) and buy a new one. For this reason I would never waste money on these super expensive vacs $250 +. Eventually they all become weak. No vacuum lasts forever. It might work but it’s not working at peak efficiency. P.S. my chihuahua sheds like crazy. My vac has a dog vacuuming attachment to vacuum the dog with. He won’t stand for it, even if I hold him in place so that attachment which I thought would help is useless to me. I have a shedding tool that he loves that I use outside. Of course, I can only use it on his back because it’s essentially a saw blade.
Dude that’s so untrue. I work at a repair shop. I have seen some beautiful 20 year old Riccar and Windsors that still work as good as they did off the showroom floor. This rule only applies to cheap bagless vacs. They are designed to break.
As someone formerly owned by a pure-bred Maine Coon, a self-cleaning roller is definitely what is needed, and made me want to give up my old Dyson Animal. That said, 8:37 did seem to have a clump of pet hair tangled tightly around the roller, albeit just in the one spot. Still way better than how my old Dyson's roller gets so full of hair.
How is the stability of the unit while using the attachments? I've had a Shark vacuum before (different model) and it always tipped over when using attachments connected to the hose. Did you find it pretty stable?
True. I am a pro housecleaner. All sharks are VERY unstable when you use hose. It tips over 10 out of 10 times. I put it on its side BEFORE I start using a hose. Huge flaw. I also have Dysons and Sebo Felix. They do not tip over.
I'm surprised that the powered pet tool didn't plug up when you sucked up that large chunk of Bailey hair since most of those are powered by the suction unless the fan chews it up.
As a pet owner and Freakin Reviews fan, these videos are ALWAYS my favorite. Bailey is such a queen for putting up with all that. :)
If I remember correctly Daisy does not like vacuums and she’s the oldest out of the goldens. Then Elle completes the doggie trio.
Yes she steals the show !

BROOM
I would use a dustpan in a handbroom like 99% of other people
@@kpv123why work harder and NOT get all the dirt and debris off the floor??.... Using the vacuum is 10000x easier and more effective.
@@goodgremlinmedia2757 Please can you tell me which vacuum cleaner/s you recommend?
Daisy, I think her name was.
Her name is definitely Daisy!!!
@@Valacosa yep that's it! She was a sweetie
It would be way to heavy for me. At that price it's a not for me too. Bailey is just the sweetest
dog a person can have, so is Elle. Our little Abby is getting old and it's heartbreaking to think of
her not with us any longer. Thanks for the review, James. Have a great week! 🥰🥰
It’s not heavy at all. I have some medical problems and my muscles are weak. I can lift it with zero difficulties. I got mine (not this exact model. No pet tools) during the holidays last year for $100.00!
@@wrinklesandsprinkles $100 is great price. I had two spinal surgeries and so I thought it would be way to hard for me.
@@ShirlBussman I also have spine issues from my neck to my sacrum. I don’t have the fancy one he’s reviewing but the one I got was originally $225.00. It is in the Lift-away line Shark has. This is my second one in 10years with numerous pets.
@@wrinklesandsprinkles Thank you for the info. I do appreciate it.
Pay the extra money for a shark, they're def worth it and work perfect. I own a rotator pro pet and even though it's almost 5 yrs old still works perfect with weekly use.
I wish you had a live channel where you just reviewed stuff 24/7 lol. LOVE Freakin Reviews
This is one of the best vacuum reviews I have ever seen! Great job
I hate how much I love this vacuum. I actually look forward to vacuuming. It sounds corny as hell but I’m dead serious.
Not only a great review but a great video! Love how Bailey participated and donated and sacrificed her hair!🤪✌️
Love the positive attitude keep up the good work 👍and i really like your dogs 😁
I've used Shark for few years now and my biggest complaint is the suction hose.. it's short and pulls over the vacuum if you don't old it.
Thank you for the thorough review. I'm ordering Shark AZ3002 Stratos now :--))
Always awesome to see Elle and Bailey.
We miss Daisy 😇
Big fan of the vacuum cam 😂
Awesome shout out for Vacuum wars, that guy deserves way more subs than he gets. I love my 3 shark vacuums (as well as my Miele).
As usual, a detailed and informative review…AND Bailey (nice to see Elle too). What more can we ask for? Thanks James !!
I really like Shark vacuums but my one main gripe has always been the super high clearance of the canister part so it's hard to get under tables/beds despite the low profile of the front.... so that powered lift away feature is awesome. This might be my next vacuum.
Powered lift away has been around for at least 10 years. I’d recommend having a look at the other models available if you wanna save some dollar
What is there to like about shark. It’s cheap garbage. Try getting out of Walmart when vacuum shopping
I'm not trying to be a wise guy. So what would be a better option with similar performance in your opinion? Buy once, cry once.@@goodgremlinmedia2757
I also have the Dyson v15 which I forgot to clean the filters for months and they were still clean.
love loves ur vids.you always give them a real world breakdown&tell the pros&cons&all.
Thanks for showing us the vacuum and Bailey. Bailey is always a win.
COMICAL! Both babies following you as you were using it on the bare floor!
Love This! Best video in a while, great job James
Loved your cohost Bailey, it's always good to see her. I'm not in the mkt for a vacuum, but great review and entertaining. Thanks!!
Respect for that vacuum wars plug. Awesome video like always
Lovely lovely dogs you have.. I know its not a channel for pet content, but I love when they are in the videos.. Always gives me a big smile
Ever looked into other vacuum brands? Sebo, Miele, Riccar, Simplicity?
Finally a good Bailey fix! Nice to see Elle too. If I didn't have an older Shark vacuum, I would probably get this one.
Thanks for the information, my apex just stopped working and honestly it’s the best vacuum I’ve had, but looking for an upgrade this stratos sounds very convenient! Little expensive but I think is worthy
From the research I've done, the Apex is the superior vacuum.
BAILEY! Yes! This ought to be good - the Goldie against a shark.
Great review, and just what I needed with our dog, especially since it compared this unit with the Apex which I also have.
Thumbnail had Bailey. Instant like and comment.
Can you test some of the Miele vacuums. Bagged vacuums are always much more powerful than none bagged.
I think it’s adorable the dogs were following you while vacuuming
I would love to see you do a review on the all new LG CordZero All in One Auto Empty Cordless Stick Vacuum.
Glad you posted this. Am in the process of looking for a new vacuum and was planning on going thru some of your vacuum videos soon!
That pet roller attachment just sold me on this. Thanks for showing that off. They had a $60 off coupon code on their site.
@@terrylockwood9176 good to know thanks
If that was you, filming the close-ups, they looked really GREAT, maybe add a little stabilization but that looked very professional, sans the shake.
Aww, it looks like Bailey is really getting up there in age.
I came for your doggo. I love her guest appearances!

I was debating between the newer soft roll brush vs the old brushing system and I decided with the old brush system since it’s more efficient on hard floors

What an amazingly clean house!
What a beautiful dog!
correction: two beautiful dogs!
Buy a Sebo. You take the roller out with the push of a button, clean it or throw it in the dish washer. Then put it back.
Awesome review. This sold me on the Stratos. Thank you
Love the power button on the handle .
Not that the videos are ever bad, but Bailey instantly makes them better.
@@rachelamundsen8265 I also use a (cheaper) Dyson and it doesn't tip over like the Shark did.
Bailey's working overtime on this one!
Bailey focused episode! I'll give it all the Thumbs Ups!
I'm surprised that the powered pet tool didn't plug up when you sucked up that large chunk of Bailey hair since most of those are powered by the suction unless the fan chews it up.
Thanks for the Bailey and Elle video oh and the vacuum review 😁
Pet hair attachment needs to be used in the hard surface floor mode. Not sure if you did cause it sounded like it was slowing down
