I've had two shark vacuums over the past 5 years and both had hoses that cracked right after the two year warranty. I can't see myself falling for that brand again. Tempted to just get a bissell.

Got a new nv356 and floor setting broke in 2 weeks… crazy had an old version for 7+ year and bought it used never one issue 🤦🏽♂️

The video quality is stunning. But the list of vacuums you tested is outdated. All 3 Hoovers and the 2 Bissells are old and discontinued. The Oreck XL is the commercial model and not the newer Oreck Elevate models.

I'll see if we can get some new Hoovers, Bissells, and Orecks for 2024. Maybe there's a model out there that's more impressive than the last ones we tested.
Had two Sharks and both had the swivel heads break on them. Won't buy another Shark again. I finally broke down and spent the money on a Riccar and don't regret it. That machine is amazing and out works the Shark and Dyson by a mile. They are a bit heavy but maneuvering them is so easy.
A little research goes a long way. I have sold countless Riccar and Sebos to many happy customers.

I hated my Dyson ball vacuum. I was not impressed with the suction for the price. It was heavy and hard to maneuver. I returned it after a week. I am ready to try a Shark!
Just echoing that Sebo, Riccar, and Lindhaus should be included next time as these brands are produce fantastic uprights that are superior to most on this list. Sebo is a German brand, Riccar is American, and Lindhaus is Italian but all three are available in the US at authorized dealers and online. I would choose one of these all day before a Dyson or Shark.
In the budget category, I’d include Simplicity’s Allergy Upright and the Hoover Complete Performance Advanced Bagged Upright.

What specifically makes them better? Is it just that they are serviceable? Do they actually clean better?
@@corvettetexan I’d say longevity is the biggest benefit plus the long warranties. They are serviceable, and they’re also fairly simple. The customer can disassemble and maintain most of them, particularly Sebo. All can last 15+ years with little maintenance and filtration and suction will not decline with age. They’re solid vacuums that you can keep for years beyond what you’d get out of most in this video.
I’m not a vacuum salesman, I’ve just love a good, reliable product that keeps my home clean.
I'm surprised Riccar wasn't in this list since it is expensive upright vacuum. I'm curious how it holds up against the dyson animal 3
Riccar isn't one we've tested, but I'll see if we can get one this year for testing. Thanks for the suggestion.
@@ModernCastle i have a riccar prima canister with a full sized power nozzle and a sebo G1 upright. both are exceptionally well made machines, they perform extremely well and are durable units. the bissel, dyson, and shark are all very poorly made and disposable units
But how does it do in medium pile carpet? Does it pick up sand? I'm use to a rainbow, which after 25 years finally died. Finding a replacement that is more affordable is a challenge. I live on a farm and there's lots of sand everywhere. My rainbow was great at getting it out of the carpet. how do any of these rate?
We didn't test medium pile.
The sugar tests should be similar enough to sand.
If you have a Rainbow that you already like why would you switch?
I find it strange there were no bagged upright models tested as those seem to be better at overall filtration. Also next year do you have any plans to review popular canister vaccine such as sebo Miele or kenmore?
Most our viewers seem to strongly prefer bagless over bagged, so we've tended to focus more on those. Though I do agree, when it comes to filtration and keeping everything contained, a bagged unit is typically better.
Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be doing more testing around canisters. We just haven't seen nearly as much interest there as with others types.

@@ModernCastlePeople prefer bagless because they just pull a vacuum off the shelf at Costco after skimming the box art and do no research at all into what makes a good vacuum. Only too have their disposable shark and Bissell shit the bed a year or two after purchase.

Its a shame theres not more high end bagless upright vaccums out there. If you dont want Dyson or Shark you either have to go to cheap models or buy super expensive bagged vaccums that lack modern features.
If those super expensive vaccums like Riccar and Meile innovated and made better stuff for hard floors and went bagless id pay almost anything.
It really is. There is a desperate need for more options in the $300-$500 range.
I have the riccar tandem air and it does hard floors and mostly all riccar and simplicity vacuums do carpet and hard floors and bagless is messy and I like bagged better and that the dirt compress down as the bag fills up while bagless that the dirt just lays on top fills up really fast
we sometimes get old oreck,milies,kirbys and dysons at goodwill where i work.we also have had some rainbows and saintaires are a tried and true design nothing has changed in the past several years they live by the moto if it aint broken dont fix it .thats why these vacuums work so well.
No SEBO machines :(

I’d like to see a vacuum cleaner made out of COMPLETELY clear plastic. You can see right through it. All of it.
And it has parts that can be disassembled without tools; in only a few seconds.
Then you take all the parts outside, and wash them with the garden hose.
The inside of most vacuums are filthy. They spread bacteria and mold all over the house.
That would be pretty awesome
