Thank you so much for the helpful video. I searched high and low for a video that showed how to remove the dust bin to clean with water and finally found yours. So grateful!
I've never enjoyed watching a review video so much before. I was looking for the 'Donate' link to say thank you. Truly enjoyable. Very thorough. Thank you!
Thank you for your informative video Roger. I believe the anti odour cartridge and dial were not fitted correctly however. To fully engage the assembly it must be pushed into place - as you did - but then the handle rotated clockwise to at least the minus symbol. This will lock the assembly into place. If more fragrance is required the dial can be rotated more towards the plus symbol. Once the desired fragrance level is selected the handle can be folded down. I also note that the fragrance cartridge should only be handled whilst wearing gloves and should never be directly inhaled - sniffed - as the ingredients can be harmful to the user, pets and the environment. The full instructions give a clear explanation of how to do this. I am impressed with the initial performance of this machine and agree that a second set of washable filters should be provided given the recommended 48 hours drying time.
I agree with other viewers that shark should rethink their policy on sending you products to review. This is one of the most thorough reviews I have watched. This is not a cheap product and it really helps to watch a review like this to make up your mind if you want to purchase. Thank you.
We bought the 2-battery version of this and we love it. Now we have a Timber dog and he molts at least twice a year, this spring has been exceptionally bad for hair and thankfully the Stratos has been a godsend making short work of it. It's a great vacuum cleaner, pricey but worth it. A side note when using the IQ setting if it constantly uses full power it means the double filters need cleaning as it tends to clog after 3 or 4 weeks of daily use.
Hey, yeh it appears we ordered ours through Shark UK and not through Amazon, I've just checked their site and they have 2X battery options on some vacuums, hope that helps.@@kotseatbp
@@kotseatbp , I went right to the Shark website. There were none left there, either, but I left my info, and they sent me an e-mail to let me know when they were available. Even then, I had to try about three times before I got one. I needed it, too. the run time is about 5 minutes, if that.
Very comprehensive review. Thank you! I just ordered the double-battery version in the Amazon Prime 2023 sale, but in fact I did that before I found your video. You've made me happy that I haven't made a mistake! Have a lovely sub.
Great review, I just got the IZ420UKT - (same model with 2 batteries) - which is so ideal having 2 to always keep one on charge whilst using the other. - This replaced my NV680UKT I got 6 years ago. And this cordless is so near the performance of my previous shark. Regarding the Anti- Odour filter I'm sure after inserting the cartridge you need to rotate the filter anti clockwise to fully engage in place where the locked padlock symbol is then the filter should become effective then.
Great review. I have just purchased this as we have started to find our Henry Hound a bit heavy as we have got older especially on the stairs. Henry hoovers are almost indestructible but the technology in this shark is quite amazing and should certainly help keep the cats fur at bay, the smaller head for fur removal will definitely be getting a lot of use. The accessory car cleaning kit looks very useful with the extra small crevice probe and brush designed for vents and dials. Odour filter another bonus. I hadn’t watched this video before purchasing but it’s reassuring to feel I made a good decision about which cordless hoover to purchase. EDIT Used the Shark today and I’m genuinely amazed at how well this vacuum cleaner works. I had vacuumed the house with the Henry Hound (has the power brush) a few days ago, having vacuumed with the Shark I was amazed at how well it cleaned, picked up way more pet fur than the Henry. The small power head in the Shark makes cleaning the stairs a breeze. Two batteries essential though in my opinion, it was a lot of work for the first clean but it doesn’t take long to run the battery down. With two it’s possible to always have a battery fully charged.
one additional feature not many people are aware of, there is a hook in the body just below the battery and that can be used with a compatible wall mount, then you wont need to bend it for storing ! check it out if you can
The double brush roller looks good. Edge cleaning is impressive too. Automatic power adjustment in the mains-powered era was a gimmick but it makes more sense with cordless vacuums to help preserve battery life…
If I had the money to buy a vacuum cleaner like this, the way the brush roller is able to pick up hair like that would be a major selling point for me. Hair getting caught and wrapped around in the brush roller has always been constant and extremely annoying in every vacuum I have ever used.
I just got my shark 3 september 2024, I had my dyson for 30 years but all the handles broke and it was becoming a chore to drag it around, I really wanted the top of the range stick dyson this time but couldn't afford it, so I settled for this .. can't say I was all that impressed after my first use . I have a dog in the house that sheds hair not that fluffy stuff either but fine wire stuff that gets into carpet and clothes I had to pretty much use the boost mode on my turkish rugs to get it out.... using the other two settings just didn't get the hair up , all up for my first use with it I got about 25 mins vacuuming done. in saying that I did manage to almost fill the barrel twice and a lot of it was dust ( I do live in a dusty place ).I also haven't had a decent working vacuum for quite a few months. so I put it on charge , and today I had another go with it and used the pet attachment tool on the rugs as well as going over all the rooms I never came close to filling the barrel but did use all the battery again I only got about 20 mins runtime out of it , ( I do like the boost mode). anyway today I felt better about my purchase I also suffer from chronic back pain , with this cordless vac it isn't as bad it throbs after 15mins but bearable so I can get most of my vacuuming done .. I will have to ring them though and get another battery. one just isn't enough... and I would of thought with the technology they have these days these lithium batteries would last a lot longer than this does plus they are expensive .... rant finished. loved your video btw.. cheers . I guess too that once you have had the best (dyson) nothing else really compares ) so this comes a close second to the Dyson gen15
Watching as i'm waiting for this delivery today. Tip , i'm thinking if the second roller does not come out, one could use the hoover with crevice tool to remove any suspected dirt. .Great video, thanks.
As most people have said, thanks so much. I've been having a difficult time figuring out which button is which. I'm so afraid of getting a facefull of dust and debris.

Fantastic review! Thank you! I still have Dyson V8 but decided to purchase Shark IZ420 and Im so impressed already. Dyson's bartery life is absolutely a joke! and on a low setting doesent hoover as good as Shark!
Thanks for taking the time to do this review. I bought one of these. I’ve plugged the battery in both attached and detached. No indication of any charging. Tried multiple power outlets. There is no light I can see anywhere to tell you it is charging. ItThe very basic manual says it will not work (power on) which the cord is attached. I detach the cord and it still doesn’t power on. I can only assume it’s faulty. Surely anything decent would have a clearly visible charging light. I’ve always had Dyson but decided to switch. I’m not impressed.
Mine does have a quite small but ok light, when you see it, along the slim edge on the corner of the battery. Dead is red. It pulsates white until fully charged.green. Hope that helps.
Thank you so much .your video is excellent and so professional and informative . So I have just bought one , although more expensive here in Cyprus . Thank you
Ok, I am genuinely very impressed - especially with how it picked up pet hair without the roller getting tangled and without getting clogged up. BUT I went to the link in your description...and yikes for $500 US, it BETTER be impressive! For me personally, that is a *lot* of money, especially for just a vacuum cleaner.
Is this vacuum really noisy. I'm interested in this model but my daughter is very sensitive to noise. I borrowed my mum's Dyson V8 and was impressed with how quiet it was as well as how well it cleaned so deciding between the two
I use surface wipes and feed them through over the brushroll. It takes several to get the clear part clean and you will never get it entirely clean without dismantling the head, which is something I wouldn’t recommend as Shark don’t make it easy to take their machines apart.
Fantastic video as always. You are so clear and explain everything so well and easy to follow. I would love to see a video of the dyson cinetic big ball animal + bag less vac. I really thinking of buying this machine. I have seen your older video of the cinetic big ball vac the red and grey version, really enjoyed it. This blue and red big ball machine is more current, so I'd appreciate it if one day you could do a review on it. Thanku for all ur amazing videos...... so interesting, and how beautiful is little daisy 😍
The Cinetic models have been discontinued for quite some time in the UK and I can’t see them on Dyson’s US website either. The Only mains powered machines Dyson offer are uprights and they have been out of stock for months.
It appears pretty good all round, Sharks early machines ought to be have been bagged due to filter dirtying quickly, this doesn’t seem too bad and performance, some say about lack of lifespan on sharks build quality, I cannot comment, I’m familiar with shark but never owned one yet, I’m looking for a compact corded vac for deep cleans, Shark is the only one in that form factor available, I’m looking at a corded shark, as daily cleans are via cordless, although this Shark appears to possibly replace a corded with its power? PS good video as always Roger.
Hi Obviously watched this review I've never had a cordless vacuum but have watched so many model / brand reviews but need help 🙏🏻 Can you recommend possibly 3 cordless vacuums that you have used / reviewed for overall performance, quality and multi purpose cleaning. I would be grateful. Thank you
Great review except you didn’t lock the anti-odour cartridge into place. Requires at least one click to lock. The. You can adjust it from min to max setting.
Sense IQ should start on at least 50% power to see if there is any deep dirt on the carpet. If it starts on a lower power setting then it won't pick up anything and it will think there is no reason to increase the power. I would also do a test with sense IQ and one on max power just to see the difference.
Thanks for a great review. I'm looking at upgrading from the Shark Cordless IF250, been great but the floor nozzle keeps getting clogged with hair, mainly my partners plus we have two cats that quick their cta litter everywhere and sometimes after we finished cleaning debris will fall out of the floor nozzle. Looking at upgrading to this, would you recommend or should I look at something else?
I have a former version of tjis cleaner and although my house is not overly dusty, the maintenance of the filters is quite cumbersome. I have to vacuum them with another cleaner at least once a week. I am looking for a vacuum cleaner with better filtration system
Shark are sending me this model as the iz251ukt that I have keeps making this horrid noise like it’s going to blow up and they’ve replaced it 2 times before and seems to be a common issue with that model. After seeing this review I’m excited for it to arrive it’s far more better than the one I have now. I have a German shepherd but I use my corded shark most of the time as he’s shedding at the moment but it will be good to see how much this one picks up. It does sound very loud though compared to the one I have at the moment. Mines normally very quite.
I've just got the IZ400UKT . I am happy so far, but i would advise anyone not to buy it unless you get the two battery model. I live in a small one bed flat with hard floors. i barely got 5 mins out. of the battery lol.
Why didn’t I see this variant of the stratos model on the website? I ended up with the IZ862H. Not as many attachments dammit. I want it ALLLLL 😬 only 2 attachments and no bag for them included. 🙄 Edit: figured it out. It’s the uk version they sell. I want the UK VERSION!!! I have pets 🤷🏻♀️ They could’ve at least given my the cheap ass bag for the accessories
No, I don’t find it heavy and if a lot of people aren’t complaining about the weight, it can’t be a major issue. Probably best to visit it a store with a selection of machines that you can try before you buy.
I think my biggest reservation, among other things, about Sharks machines is a just their use of such a rudimentary cyclone system. Those filters are just going to stop up in no time. It’s priced like a premium machine but designed and built like a budget one.
Always the way. Most people don't have more than one vacuum, so once this clogs up they won't realise how much crap it's leaving behind in the carpets. Dyson are still the only bagless cleaners that get this right.
@@Love00Mother00Earth very true! I had a shark cordless the one before this and when I brought my mums Dyson Ball Animal over for a big clean it almost filled after just 2 rooms of cleaning. The shark did not return and I immediately went and bought another Dyson.
Also i love the demonstrations, you're meant to go slow according to manufacturers. They're my favourite part watching you suck up all the stuff. I found sucking up crushed up m&ms very satisfying the other day haha in a none weird fetishism way! Haha

If it starts on a lower power setting then it won't pick up anything and it will think there is no reason to increase the power. I would also do a test with sense IQ and one on max power just to see the difference.
I'd buy a cordless vacuum when the batteries can go for at least an hour in high mode
Got mine the other day, the iq sense setting makes me think the battery is dying when it changes speed
Shark Stratos is also available in US
How does this compare to the Dyson equivalent
Thanks for a great review. I'm looking at upgrading from the Shark Cordless IF250, been great but the floor nozzle keeps getting clogged with hair, mainly my partners plus we have two cats that quick their cta litter everywhere and sometimes after we finished cleaning debris will fall out of the floor nozzle. Looking at upgrading to this, would you recommend or should I look at something else?
Did you do the same test on a Dyson using vacuum gage ? Nice to know the comparison .
Would be great if we could get this in Canada the only Shark Stratos model here is not compatible with the motorized pet tool
Great review do have link to this shark vacuum please?
I got a idea! Testing the aero brush on every version Of vacuums (Henry’s and hetties included and dyson)
I have a former version of tjis cleaner and although my house is not overly dusty, the maintenance of the filters is quite cumbersome. I have to vacuum them with another cleaner at least once a week. I am looking for a vacuum cleaner with better filtration system
If you want low maintenance, get a bagged vacuum cleaner.
That's quite impressive. Great review by the way 👏
What dose the flashing green light mean when changing the battery it’s a great vacuum cleaner
Edit: figured it out. It’s the uk version they sell. I want the UK VERSION!!! I have pets 🤷🏻♀️ They could’ve at least given my the cheap ass bag for the accessories
True! Why UK would have better accessories? I’m kind of sad😭.
Very helpful video, thank you
Great video. Any word on how good the main cleaner head does on stairs? I have a Dyson at the moment and the head looks a lot slimmer.
I haven’t actually used the main head on stairs but it would perform very well on the treads but more tricky tho use on the risers.
@@ibaisaic many thanks! About a month later, but finally picked this up from Shark for £264 which I'm very pleased about! Excited to give it a go
Well, I've bought it... Thanks to your review 😅
Did you not find it heavy?
I bought one but I’m amazed people arnt complaining about the weight. Going to send it back
No, I don’t find it heavy and if a lot of people aren’t complaining about the weight, it can’t be a major issue. Probably best to visit it a store with a selection of machines that you can try before you buy.
@@ibaisaic think I will prefer a cordless upright where the weight is down low. Will test out in shop like you suggest
Shark and Miele make models with the motor nearer the floor.
@@Love00Mother00EarthI’ve had three Dyson. I Wouldn’t touch them with a barge pole. Always problematic
Also i love the demonstrations, you're meant to go slow according to manufacturers. They're my favourite part watching you suck up all the stuff. I found sucking up crushed up m&ms very satisfying the other day haha in a none weird fetishism way! Haha
£449 on Very with 2 batteries 🔋. £100 off in the Black Friday deal… I’ve just ordered one… 😅
Hi, how would you review it? Is it worth buying?
Can you use this to hoover the car?The unit looks to long and clumpy to fit in tight spaces in the car?
I'm in the market for a cordless vac, this is on my radar plus the Samsung jet 90 which i don't think u have tested?
Wonderful video, just brought this machine
Great Video, Very informative, Thankyou.
Shark vacuums are my favorite
Great review, thank you.
Wow this review fantastic thank you
