    I checked your numbers and I think it is possible. I don’t doubt your word. My Resmed 10 airsense without humidifier uses 7 watts so 6 hours per night for 4 nights is quite possible. The main point here is that with the right cpap device and no humidifier you don’t need some kind of expensive huge battery to get you thru a camping adventure. A small cheap battery will do just fine.

    So I have the 450P System One and I tried it on my portable battery. There are 5 bars on my portable battery and after 1 night it was still 5 bars full!
    So this looks like it will work for 5 days at least. And thanks for the advise on the humidity HME. That works!.
    But the key to the whole thing is using a 12V cpap. For example I also have a Airsense 10 and that is 24v so it probably draws more electricity.
    PS to everyone: The 450P has been recalled by Philips. I've read online that people just removed the foam inside and that did not affect the noise.
    PPS: The Dreamstation 2 is a 12v cpap but physically larger than the 450p because the humidifier is not detatcchable.

    Great explanation. Thank you! One other option for the device is a travel-sized unit like the Resmed Airmini that does not support humidification and is also an autoset machine. It makes packing easier and consumes less power overall. Good luck with your travels.

    I have a Resmed Air sense 10 too, turning off your humidifier is easy. The white button to the right of the screen just press and hold till the top part lights up( My Options) press the white button and the screen will light up with pressure and a list of options and turn the white button ( I think clockwise ) to humidifier and then turn the button to go down to off. I camp and sleep in a tent and I use a deep cycle marine battery from Walmart ($99) with a 410w inverter and turn the humidifier off and get 5 nights of 8 hrs per night, but the marine battery weighs 65lbs. If I have to charge the battery I either drive around a bit ( hooked to my battery charger) or drive into town 15 miles and plug it in at a gas station where I buy the girls lunch or dinner. I would like to give this a try but I still have some questions about how long it would take with the solar panel and how long it takes to get to 100% charge driving around with my battery charger charging it. Interesting video, thanks.

    There is a way to turn off your AirSense 10 heated humidifier and heated tubing. Read the manual or play with the options on the CPAP. Unfortunately, as you stated, it requires 24 volts are you have to plug it into the AC outlet of the battery and lose power through the extra converstion.

    The 12V AIMTOM 42000mAh 155Wh is a good CPAP power bank but it is much larger than the more portable ones. It also doesn't natively support the popular 24V AirSense CPAP without using an inverter, which cuts down on nightly battery run life.

    • @RooftopSafetyUSA
      @RooftopSafetyUSA  2 роки тому +1

      Agreed. Anytime you can avoid an inverter or converter you will get more run time from the battery. I wish their were more 12 volt machines available. My travel machine is native 12 volt which is a big part of the reason I got the long run times shown in the video.

    Hi, I just got the AIMTOM and tried it with my Airsense10 using the AC no converter. I got a full 8 hours out of my CPAP and 3 hours the following night. Why is it that a DC converter would improve an extra 10 hours ? Not a genius in electrical DC AC VOLTS etc. Thats why asking for simple explanation please.

    • @RooftopSafetyUSA
      @RooftopSafetyUSA  2 роки тому

      Couple of reasons for the difference are possible. 1) Were you running the humidifier because they consume a lot of energy? and 2) My machine that I used in the video runs on 12 volt DC current which is the same as the AIMTOM battery output. That is more efficient than running the invertor in the AIMTOM to convert DC to AC.

    I have a Res Med Air Mini. I use the the Aimtom 155wh and the battery life is only about 6 hours. Aimtom suggests using a 12v DC adapter for longer run time. I haven't been able to find an adapter that wasnt a car charger on one end. Can you or anyone suggest where i can find an adapter for my Airmini and Aimtom?

    • @RooftopSafetyUSA
      @RooftopSafetyUSA  Рік тому

      If you are using your standard home plug for the AirMini and running the inverter on the AimTom it will greatly reduce your runtime. The AimTom should have come with the cigarette lighter adapter that you plug into one of the 3 small round output ports (on the AimTom) and then plug the cigarette lighter converted into that. That should extend your runtime to several nights (I think but I have never tested the AirMini with the AimTom) Another option is the battery I featured in this playlist ua-cam.com/video/-TrlWAxLRtE/v-deo.html as it will come with the necessary cable for the AirMini and give you twice as much runtime as the AimTom battery.

    When you power your CPAP are you using DC power or AC power? I bought one of these and ran it one night with the AC jack on the front of the device, the fan came on and it lasted through the night but the second night it died. I have since read that it looks like I have to run this with DC to make this work as you speak of here. Is that the case are you using a DC converter for your CPAP machine? I have a Resmed Airsense 10 which is a home unit. I hoping the DC converter i just bought for it that cost 1110$ will do the trick, otherwise... my mistake.

Did you ever test it with yours? Also, if you did, does that cable you have work for the Resmed? • @RooftopSafetyUSA

      No I don't think that will work. The Airsense 10 needs 24 volts and I haven't tried mine with the battery. My older RemStar System 1 uses 12 volts and I think that accounts for the longer run time. I don't understand why there aren't more 12 volt machines available.

    • @RooftopSafetyUSA

      Well you could leave it hooked up to power continously but I think that would shorten the battery life. If you were going to do that you would need to use the battery power to power the CPAP and wall outlet to charge the battery.
