@jensdbe - thank you again. To note: KB5043178 or KB5043080 might not install. I downloaded these manually from the Microsoft download center. And applied these myself. KB5043080 first. Then the other one. Hope this helps someone in the same situation.
I found that the 24h2 ISO file was a compressed file. I could not right click on it from the example above to mount it. It gave me a few choice to open the compressed file so I opened it with Explorer and it mounted automatically. From there I opened the Command Prompt and put in the proper command setup / product server and then hit enter and it loaded 24h2! 😉

Hey there! I've been watching your videos for a while now, more than a year to be exact. I used your tutorials to install Windows 11 in my old Pentium processor laptop and let me tell you, the feeling was phenomenal. I also installed the 23H2 version of it in my Ryzen 5 2400G processor desktop. Now, my actual question is this: Is it worth it to download and install 24H2 in my desktop? Like, is there any major improvements, or any new features that's actually good? If yes, then I'm gonna continue to download and install 24H2 in my desktop. Otherwise, I might just stick with my 23H2 version. Anyways, great video as always. Thanks for the beautiful tutorial. Keep doing the good work!
Personally, although I did upgrade to document it and show in a video, I don't really see the added value. The family-computer here at home is still at 23H2, which did had a few nice small improvements for me. 23H2, for now at least, seems to work just fine and still gets security patches etc. so don't bother if you're not into one of the new features.
So that's one laptop and one desktop done successfully. Thoe only issue I had on both was it corrupted my Outlook 2010 installation and had to do a repair from the original software discs. My preferable laptop I use for day to day would not install as it doesn't comply with the CPU requirements for installing 24H2 so it's running on 23H2 windows insider program.
Good video. There are others but well explained. I do have to do the .\setup.exe Command on mine but you do get the hint thar you need to when you type just setup.exe blah blah. You'd know if you changed it for WSA. Change it back. If after installation of 24h2 you then enable it again the PC refuses to boot like it did during installation. Change it back to off. Fun. Think that then messed up the updates. Been there, done that on previous version of Windows 11. MSI fixed that of the cumulative update that was failing. Settled down now... we hope. On compatible hardware WSA still works fine. Something to look out for if hanging on the second reboot and you have fiddled the BIOS previously to install WSA. Unfiddle it.
Hi Jens, will this work on bootcamp on mac running 21h2. I tried following this step by step and get the error message "windows ran into critical error" on the final step

If the option is missing from the menu when you right click, you probably have a different default application set to handle .ISO files (like 7Zip, WinRAR,...). In that case, just right click the file and choose Open with > Windows Explorer, that should mount the ISO-file as well.

Hello, I have a laptop with AMD Ryzen 3 2200U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx 2.50 GHz and I did the above actions but is failing continuously. Is there available any script? My CPU supports all SSEs till SSE4A.
Why would you install win 11 24H2 on unsupported hardware when it brings back all the old bugs that have been long fixed in 23H2 even on supported hardware ? Does microsoft really start over again each time from the same broken sourcecode ? I think they do.
Thank you for your video, it worked for me. I have problem now to install update KB 5043178 . I even tryed mannualy and still nothing. I get error 0x800f0838. Do you have any ideas.
Before you download KB5043178; you might have to install KB5043080 FIRST. I installed KB5043080 first. Then KB5043178 installed successfully afterwards.
Did you try the msi file of it ?. Read to mean "manual". I did have an issue with cumulative update of 24h2. Fiddling with the stop, start services, deletion etc. Then did the MSI, that was then fine. The other PC went through fine. Whether it's because it played up and got in a mess. The playing up was on the Bios setting I'd changed previously for WSA. The other one I hadn't. Reckon that was the downfall on the KB getting installed. All working fine now.
So I got my first laptop done but my second has twice failed installation and reverted back to current build. This one is on the Windows Insider Preview channel so I'm guessing that's what's causing the fail. Would this be correct? Im actually thinking of buying a new SSD to replace the HDD to speed it up a bit so I have already got the USB ready for a fresh instal. Got my desktop to do next.

A Core 2 Duo does not support the POPCNT instruction as it does not have the SSE 4.2 instruction set so you can't upgrade beyond 23H2 (and it is not expected for this to change)

@@happyputt9709 as mentioned, I don't expect a workaround to come as it would require a change in the source code or some emulation layer, which is unlikely at that level
@@jensdbe Thanks Bud. I like to dream. So I either learn linux or find a 1000 bucks. Good times. Peace
@@happyputt9709 for around €100 you should be able to buy a decent PC with a 4th/5th/6th Gen Intel Core CPU and it will already be a big improvement.
@@jensdbe OK thanks, I have to learn more and look into what you recommend.
Is there any way to install windows 11 24h2 without SSE4.2.
Unfortunately if your CPU is missing that specific instruction that is part of SSE4.2, I'm pretty sure that it will not be possible in the future as well as this is a real hardware requirement. It would involve changes in the source code to not use that instruction or some kind of emulation. I would not count on bypassing this so I think you will need to stay on 23H2 if you have an CPU that is >15 years old.
no more upgrades for phenom.... so long AMD legend'
Get rid of windows, install linux. Job done.
I trued but no luck, error SafeOS boot roll back to 11 23H2, I tried fresh install another priblem boot loop and no luck to succes.

kan niet mounten .opie is weg
If the option is missing from the menu when you right click, you probably have a different default application set to handle .ISO files (like 7Zip, WinRAR,...). In that case, just right click the file and choose Open with > Windows Explorer, that should mount the ISO-file as well.
Windows sucks, I have a Dell T7810 with dual Xeon, 64go of ram, rtx 3060 ti.
It’s not Win11 compatible, so I prefer to change the OS before my tower.
Bye bye Windows I’ll switch to Linux.
