Hi, that's unfortunate it didn't work for you. You may have one of the old CPU's that lack the specific instructions for 11 or you may need to try a clean install instead of an upgrade. I appreciate the feedback
Hi, this has not been my experience. I dont have enough information about your system or process to speculate but if you were not able to boot from the usb drive its more likely you need to change some bios settings .
Hi, another way to upgrade to Windows 11 is to download the Windows 11 ISO, mount it and then open command prompt, Type D:\Setup.exe /Product Server (replace D:\ with the letter of your mounted ISO drive) and then sit back and install Windows 11
Hi, thats not something that can be bypassed as processors manufactured before 2008 dont contain the SSE 4.2 instructions. Thats what I was referring to in the video when I specifically called out CORE 2 Duo and Athlon 64 processors not being compatible. Thanks for watching!
Hi. Nice clear instruction! My prob. is that the window "Windows User Experience" does not show in Rufus! I tried both the NOT portable and the portable and both from GitHub and from Rufus.ie. Q: What might be the issue??? Computer: Lenovo IdeaFlex 5 | Rysen 7 | BIOS-version/date: LENOVO JCCN41WW, 13-09-2024 | BIOS Mode: UEFI OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Home | Version: 10.0.22631 Build 22631
@The1stSunner I believe your Laptop is already supported by windows 11. You should not need this tool to update windows. You can go directly to Microsoft's website and use the media installation tool. That's probably why you aren't getting those options in Rufus
A great option for people who choose to upgrade rather than cleanly install. I always do the latter, but that the option is there is nice. Having said this, I only tried it on one device that wasn't supported, and it didn't work well, so I went back to W10. It kept freezing, and at different times. Sometimes during startup, sometimes while already booted into Windows. I already have other PCs with Windows 11, so it was just something I tried due to boredom. Though they've basically threatened it from the beginning, and most likely to get people to buy new or upgrade their own PCs, I can't actually see Microsoft cutting off updates for Windows 11 on unsupported devices. It would tick a LOT of W11 users off, and I don't think they'll choose to risk the backlash it may cause.
Hey! Its not so much they will cut them off its that they warn they may not work with your unsupported device. Its a chance you take. Thanks for the feedback!
Do you need to input a windows 11 license key or does it auto use the one from my windows 10? If i do a fresh install do i input the windows 10 key or do i have to buy a windows 11 key?
I have another question if we put this on a USB drive and reboot the computer from it does the USB drive stay in the computer and can we still use our Windows 10 on the same computer or what?
Hi, You only need to boot from the USB drive if you are doing a clean install, by doing a clean install you will be removing windows 10, so you will not be using it. To do an upgrade from 10 to 11, you dont need to boot from the USB drive just follow the instructions in the video. Hope that helps.
Hi, this is addressed in the video. Theres no way to know what the future holds in regard to your individual system. Your hardware may not support future updates. That is something to consider before updating. Thank you for watching
Am I right in thinking that I can do a clean install of Windows 11 on a blank drive on unsupported hardware using Rufus with the other work-arounds/disc image etcetera?
I own a Dell Optiplex 780 PC with Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E8400 3.00GHz, 6GB DDR3 ram, 1GB radeon hd 5450 graphics, no TPM 2.0, and I updated it 1 year ago to Windows 11 Pro v. 23h2, can I install Windows 11 Pro v. 24h2 on it?
If it Runs 23H2 theres no reason why it would not run 24H2. However I can not swear to that. Your Processor must be supporting SSE 4.2 for it to be running 11 at all so yours does. Test it out and let me know! Thanks for watching
@@RayKnowsTech I installed Windows 11 24h2 by burning the copy to a flash memory with Rufus to bypass the installation requirements, but when Windows starts installing and reaches 100%, it restarts to complete the operation, but what happens after the restart is that Windows stops at the logo and does not complete The opening process at all but he restart and repeat tried to open Windows stops at the logo
You don't even need to use rufus anymore if your pc isn't supported, microsoft are now allowing any pc to upgrade to windows 11 regardless of hardware. Sorry if someone else has mentioned this.
Hi, Microsoft released the steps needed to modify the registry publicly on December 12th.. That's always been the method available. Rufus just automates that piece of it in addition to automating process to bypass the Microsoft account setup. Microsoft didn't made any changes other than acknowledging that it can be bypassed by modifying registry values. and reiterating that it is not recommended.. Thank you
I am trying your luck now I have tried others and it hasn't worked I keep it up I'm going to mess up my computers and I can't afford to buy any others hopefully this will work.
Let me know how it works out for you. There are some really old CPU's that wont work no matter what due to a set of instructions that arent present in early 2000's processors.
Everything went fine until I got to Installing Windows 11 it said the file was 909.5 MB and my partition was 909.4 MB what do I do to increase the partition?
Hi, what I did for a clean install, was delete all of the existing partitions and the unallocated space left is your total hard drive capacity. I then install windows there. Its sounds like you may be trying to install on an existing partition that was used for something else. If you are upgrading, then it sounds like you do not have enough available disk space and you will need to free up some .
@bramSDASCL1759 I just installed it on an A8-5500 and it works fine. A little slow but not bad. Yours is a newer model so I would think it would work. Thanks!
I am doing everything but when the Accept message should appear it shows me that "we cannot understand if your pc meets the minimum requirements". The only requirement that I don't have is TPM2
@@RayKnowsTechyes, i have searched a lot but i cannot find a solution. Clean install is not an option for me unfortunately. I can only upgrade. Thanks for the reply!
@@samgonzalez1447 If you have TPM 2.0, then you have a newer CPU that should be supported. I would suggest following the steps outlined in the video if you are comfortable making those changes and understand Microsoft doesnt reccomend it.

That doesnt sound like a video driver issue but let me know what you find. I have not heard anyone report that so far. How much available disk space do you have?

Hi Robby, I have seen that error before when doing an upgrade from 7/ 10 or 10/11 etc. Theres likely a driver or application in your current installation preventing the upgrade. Hi, thats not something that can be bypassed as processors manufactured before 2008 dont contain the SSE 4.2 instructions. Thats what I was referring to in the video when I specifically called out CORE 2 Duo and Athlon 64 processors not being compatible. Thanks for watching!
Will Windows 11 require the windows partition to be on a GPT drive?
Hi, No and Rufus will detect and select the appropriate scheme
Hi. Nice clear instruction!
My prob. is that the window "Windows User Experience" does not show in Rufus!
I tried both the NOT portable and the portable and both from GitHub and from Rufus.ie.

If you have a valid Windows 10 key, it will automatically be used. Thanks for watching!
@RayKnowsTech it did the setup updates and rebooted but when I checked in settings about still says windows 10 home
Why won't this work with an amd athlon x64 quad processor? I have one running windows 10 fine. What is it with win 11 that won't work?
Thanks
@johnd1561 Windows 11 requires a set of instructions called SSE 4.2 that modern processors manufactured after somewhere around 2006 contain.
Now, will this computer be able to receive all the windows 11 security and other updates that come down the pipe in the future?
Hi, this is addressed in the video. Theres no way to know what the future holds in regard to your individual system. Your hardware may not support future updates. That is something to consider before updating. Thank you for watching
Am I right in thinking that I can do a clean install of Windows 11 on a blank drive on unsupported hardware using Rufus with the other work-arounds/disc image etcetera?
Its the same process, Only difference is for an upgrade you run the iso from windows. For a clean install you boot from the rufus drive.

Thank you
thanks
You're welcome!
Hi. I followed your instructions but got a "this PC doesn't support Windows 11 message.

@@RayKnowsTech I can`t seem to get back to my windows 10 to do that.

If your windows 10 is activated, will windows 11 be activated using this way of installing 11?
Yes, In fact Windows 10 must be activated. Thank you

I have I7 2600K with 16gb Ram. At the end of the install, I keep getting error message "The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during SYSPREP_SPECIALIZE operation".
Hi Robby, I have seen that error before when doing an upgrade from 7/ 10 or 10/11 etc. Theres likely a driver or application in your current installation preventing the upgrade. Win 11 refuses to install on my old Emachines puter with w quad core cpu and 6 gigs of Ram. Gets to the end then restarts the install all over again.
Have you tried a clean install instead of the upgrade?
@@RayKnowsTech Yes, with a new USB installer. The computer won't see an SSD, have to use a HD. It's the BIOS that won't let it as I can only set it as native IDE. There is no BIOS update for the machine. But trying to install it even on the HD won't work as it gets to the end of the install and blue screens. Tried different memory and HD's but nothing works. Pull the flash drive out after it copies the files so it won't restart the install. I continues til the end and blue screens and restarts the install all over again. I gave up on it. It's too old.
@@RayKnowsTech Yes. I've also tried installing from within win10 using the "setup" on the flash drive. I've tried 3 different win11 lite versions but no go.
