    No box needed, not a one trick pony. Jinjer is one of the best bands in metal today. Jinjer does most of their best work live.

      Its funny because the part she doesnt replicate live these days is the classic rock belt towards the end. She uses the growl for that part now.

    She uses her false chords for the growls. Perennial live at Wacken shows her talent well.

    That voice is all Tati. She is a vocal beast and probably one of the best vocalists in the business. There is a live version of this song from a concert in LA.

    🔥 Guys, Welcome to Jinjer! I just found your channel, saw your Jinjer reaction and subbed, great reaction - honest reactions are the best and disbelief is very common for this one! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics!
    The first time I heard Pisces in 2019, I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band (Pisces has been my wake up alarm for a few years and I still love it more every time I hear it, snooze is a thing of the past).
    TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂
    Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs!
    My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣
    All four current members of Jinjer have essentially no formal musical training except Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and classical piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the latest album Wallflowers. Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs.
    Jinjer has been a tour-heavy band, touring almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020 and much of the time since then (with interruptions by covid and the US backed coup/proxy war), hard work that has made them fantastic live performers. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine (Donetsk) in 2008 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see their former guitarist turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, in older videos on guitar and a more recent video (Disclosure) playing an interrogator.
    One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, Dip A Sail, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that could do well together in one reaction if you're so inclined).
    I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken 2019, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video).
    Thank you guys! I hope you'll keep trying out more Jinjer songs and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

    Not a one day fly but a world class 4 piece unit with a big catalogue. Live they are as good as you can get. Perennial live at wacken, my favorite A pit of consiousness live at Kiev or Who is gonna be the one also live are some good examples. They are frontrunners in metal and beyond, you'll see.

      In boring, repetitive, mindless modern pop music everything is an effect because there is a shortage of talent. I suspect that's all he knows. Then again plenty of rap and pop engineers and producers have heard this song and think the opposite so go figure.

  • @coder4liberty
    @coder4liberty Місяць тому +4

    It's all her. No box. It's a vocal technique (false chord screaming/growling). It isn't a gimmick it's part of the metal genre. Most bands in the genre male or female singers do it. Despite whatever "effect" you may have seen someone use there is no way to get that specific sound with an effect. No pitch shifter, no distortion does that. Try this playlist for live on stage examples of her doing this.
    ua-cam.com/play/PLhlYsqoR9XLEpHTbaOovrpa1p8L2uZ81G.html
    I was a professional audio engineer for 20 years. It's real and she isn't the only one who does it.

      “Despite whatever “effect” you may have…..”
      Completely untrue.

      @coder4liberty Місяць тому +3

      @@tempsitch5632 Pitch shifters shift everything not just what comes form the singers throat. Articulation included which is not what you are hearing here. Distortion digital or analog does not sound anything like biological material vibrating. There is no such processing.
      This technique uses the false chords and resonances in the vocal system. It's the same male or female, she isn't the only one who does this. UA-cam is full of videos teaching people how to do it. Tatiana has been filmed doing this in the studio by someone holding a cheap cell phone 8 feet away and it sounds no different save for what a good microphone and proximity effect does for the vocal technique she's using.
      If you can't accept it that's too bad but I'll match my expertise and knowledge in this area up against any of you any day. Any DSP that attempts to duplicate this sound is blatantly obvious. It can't distinguish articulation from tone even with AI and most certainly doesn't sound like this. And no, no serious band uses anything like that live. A vocal mic on a loud stage picks up everything and everything not just the vocals get processed including drum bleed. That's just not how it works.

    Couldn't be more wrong about this band, lol. It's not gimmicky at all. I think I like their song Vortex the most, you might wanna give it a try.

    • @tempsitch5632
      @tempsitch5632 Місяць тому

      It’s the very definition of gimmick. You need a dictionary?

    • @coder4liberty
      @coder4liberty Місяць тому +1

      @@tempsitch5632 If the majority of male and female vocalists do the same technique in the same genre no it isn't a gimmick. She learned the technique because others including the female singer of OTEP were doing it. It's part and parcel of the modern metal genre. The list of singers male and female doing harsh vocals in metal says you have no idea what you are talking about. Maybe you should use a dictionary not written in gibberish.

    • @darkaquatus
      @darkaquatus Місяць тому +1

      @@tempsitch5632 You do realize her vocals are the norm in this particular music genre, right? It's not an abnormality, meaning it can't be considered a gimmick.

      @@tempsitch5632 Cambridge dictionary: gimmick - something that is not serious or of real value that is used to attract people's attention or interest temporarily, especially to make them buy something.
      We are talking about vocal technique which takes 15+ years of permanent practice plus natural talent to achieve this level of the skill.
      Although this singer is one of the best in the business there're dozens of known (and lots of unknown) male and female singers who use the same or relative vocal techniques to produce this kind of sound.
      This kind of sound (also called extreme/harsh vocal) is common or even necessary for some subgenres of the metal music. Sometimes vocalist doesn't use normal vocal at all (some of them even can't sing normally).
      This kind of sound isn't something new in metal. Some female singers use it more than 30 years, male singers use it even longer.
      So what about definitions?
