Good analysis. Welcome to Jinjer. Tatiana is a vocal goddess and the band's musicianship is second to none. To fully appreciate how good they are, react to their live material. I suggest "Who is going to be the One" (Live, Napalm Records) or Perennial live at Wacken.
Perennial was the last song at Wacken, Who Is Gone Be the One I think was the first of their set at that concert. Both will show you what she's like on stage 🔥
Jinjer is absolutely amazing. All four of them are next level musicians. This is only the tip of the iceberg of what they can do. Tatiana is very jazz influenced, and is self taught. Live does not mean raw audio, that's a bit of a misconception. Most live footage you see on youtube is further mixed to rebalance audio levels of the various input types and sections for better clarity and quality, unless it's some bootleg recording (which then again, is far from "faithful" "live" audio too). This live session is basically a re-recording of a slightly older song, specifically made to show off their (at the time) new drummer. His drumming makes the song sound really different. So we finally had some free time last winter, we went to Istok studio in Kiev, did a live recording and shooting, then added over some extra lines, like a few backing vocals and guitars, then Max from Morton Studio made this new magnificent version of mixing and here we are - Pisces video. Yeah, it's definitely a live studio performance with a little post production. A couple of sections of the vocals are definitely doubled just like they do in album versions. I have the stem tracks for On the Top, and on that there are 2 tracks for the main extreme vocals (with a couple more used for emphasis in a few places) and 9 tracks for the cleans (for those glorious harmonies).
These are my favorite kind of reactions for Jinjer. Someone that, yes, is surprised by the switch (because most of us were), but also someone who can recognize the musicality and talent behind the song. Great musical ear and great reaction. Thank you. Liked and Subbed.
The drummer Vlad was _meant_ to be the highlight of this video, having recently joined the band (at this time). I guess they just underestimated the impact of Tatiana's vocal switching and range on the UA-cam audience!
Oh my! You have discovered Jinger! Any song recommended is worth the view and listen. I really love Perennial live at Wacken 2019, she has some really nice clean vocals and the band sounds great.
"This girl is the whole package." Truer words were never spoken. If I'm not mistaken, that E5 is the top of her range or very close to it. Given your very nice summary of all her other vocal attributes, I'm not about to hold it against her.

He's classically trained on piano but actually self taught on drums. The story I've heard was he used to Play guitar in an old band he was in and switched to drums because they needed a drummer or something along those lines
Not sure if you can be completely self taught for this level of singing. You would kill your cords pretty quick without a proper vocal coach and deep knowledge of different techniques.
You nailed this reaction! I've watched so many reactions to Pisces and this could very well be my favorite one. Great job! I'm looking forward to many more Jinjer reactions from you. They've got a large library of songs for you to discover. I suggest Perrenial Live at Wacken for you next reaction.
They always stop when that first long transition starts and they talk about the spot on musicality of the band and the angelic vocals, and we start to chuckle. We are thinking buckle up buttercup, and start to laugh maniacally when Tati drops that growl and we see the reaction. 1st time Jinjer viewers are truly "reacting", you can't not, and it is awesome to watch. Great reaction and review.
Been listening to Jinjer for 4 years now. When I first saw this video 4 years ago, I had the same exact reaction as you did when she goes into the growl part from clean vocals. Tatiana is freaking amazing :)
This was so much fun I had to rewatch it. lol She nailed it and you thought wrong. lmao Beautiful reaction. "She sounds so pretty" roflmao I knew what would happen in seconds after you said that. It is all Tatiana. There is an Apple Ipad near the drummer. It is vocal effect but it's not to fool you.
Wow, thanks for the mention! My first Venture in to the metal realm happened in '77 when I got Judas Priest's Sad Wings of Destiny album and I lived METAL since. No band in the last 20 years has caught my interest like these guys. Any song you choose to check out from Jinjer will leave your jaw on the floor, each one has its own flavor. There was a lot of post work done in this video as you quickly picked up on. I would suggest "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kiev next but you can't go wrong with anything from these guys. Going to see them next Tuesday (Nov 2nd) in Denver 🤘🤘
lol!!! I know you never fake reactions like some do and one way to tell is your complexion is really telling ... can see you turn bright red in the face and head when you are surprised .. I really like Jinger.. They were supposed play near my city but covid rules caused it to be cancelled for now
I don't like JUST reaction videos by random people. I like to see somebody that can teach me something about the music and you did that , so thanks and subscribed !
Subbed on your Deutschland reaction, great analysis and a lot of fun seing you run into that curveball haha. Theres a lot of editing on this and the growls were doubled too. Now you gotta see them in one of their epic concert performance videos to see them really live. Perennial live at Wacken is the usual next choice whichis similar in hardnessto Pisces though every song is different. Another direction would be Who Is Gonna Be The One which is on the harder side with more focus on all the things Tatiana can do with her growls, but also amazing instrumental work from the guys - especially dueling guitar and bass. Major respect for pointing out the whole band. They are a team and every one is a master of their craft - Roman on guitar, Eugene on bass, and Vlad on drums. For me, Tatiana's growls are awesome. Her cleans are by turns lovely, heart-rendingly beautiful, and utterly captivating. But the contrast is intoxicating. She goes pretty high with power in other songs, and that's a very bittersweet line, so I take it as effect. Fun reaction. You had me laughing on the bus haha. Cheers!
Great reaction! Seeing how red your face was when you realized what the surprise was, I was afraid your mind really would blow. LOL. Also appreciate that you focused on the musicianship as well as on Tatiana’s singing. 👍😎
Oh the joy of watching musicians react to Jinjer and this song for the first time! The shock value is great, but the all-around musicianship is simply outstanding!
Great reaction & cut analysis. I enthusiastically subscribed. The usual second reaction is Perennial live at Wacken. It's an excellent choice to showcase their chops in a live setting, especially Tatiana's vocals. But you really can't go too far wrong with Jinjer.
🔥Welcome to Jinjer, David! I just found your channel, great reaction, subbed! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band. TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣 For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and classical piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the newest album Wallflowers, first three videos are out for Vortex, Mediator and Wallflower. Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members. One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex, Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander, Dip A Sail and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that might do well together in one reaction). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official and/or live in Melbourne), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Note that because Jinjer has so many great official videos and so many astounding live performance videos, no Jinjer fan will ever mind if you react to a second video for a Jinjer song you've already heard, so whichever songs you choose, whatever pace you like: Enjoy! ❤🖤🤘
I was kinda worried about David reacting to Jinjer because its either you like it immediately either you will never egt to like them. So I was like waiting for the "curveball" of David`s reaction. And was pretty happy David joined the "I like them" team ) Hope to see David in the upper league in "I love them" Team in the future )
Yeah, welcome to the club! 😁🤘 With Jinjer you never know what to come, most of their songs are rollercoasters without coming back to the start. I`d recommend "Teacher, Teacher" next, then perhaps "Judgement and Punishment" (vocal one-take), "On the Top" and "Pit of Consciousness" (both live from Kiev), "Perennial" (live from Wacken)! And then of course the new singles from the new album: "Vortex", "Wallflower" and "Mediator" 🤔 ...actually you can choose whatever Jinjer song you like, "Jinjer isn`t capable to write a bad song" as people wiser than me have stated! 😂😂😂🤘 Ah, and I forgot Tatiana`s only love song: "I speak astronomy" 😇
Oh your first with Jinjer? Lol I'm having Nightwish flashbacks. From the Ukraine, they one of the most innovative metal bands in the world. "Really clean vocals, very pretty" lol. Actually she's as good at clean vocals as growling. And yes she's quite melodic growling. The band is incredible, fusing jazz, blues, funk, and reggae type sound with extremely heavy metal. Also a treat for you, they often have the bass as lead instrument, with guitar supporting the melodic line. Oh and David? This was a few years ago. They're much, much better now. Amazing score, amazing reaction. Nick should bushwack you more often!
Yo! Ty for the shout-out! Welcome to JINJER!!! Your next reaction with them should be Perennial (Live at Wacken) and after that, Judgement and Punishment (One Take). After that, if you want it hard? Sit, Stay, Roll Over or softer, Bad Water, Vortex, Wallflower, etc.. It's honestly fielder's choice after Pisces, Perennial and Judgment.. PS This video was literally shot to showcase Vlad (the drummer) because he was a new member at the time and his drums totally changed how the song sounded... I don't know where she tops out at, but the top of that particular belt was an E5...
Excellent reaction and analysis. Subscribed, and can't wait to see your Jinjer journey. You will not be disappointed. "Perennial" live at Wacken, is a great next step. 🤟😎🤟
You spotted all the intricacies and layers of this masterpiece! The time signatures are cool too. 4 tempo changes in the first 1min10sec of this song; 7/4 to triplet 3/4 to 4/4 to whatever tempo that chorus is i don't even know. Pisces represents duality, and so does her voice. A phenomenal performance of talent from every member
I love how David picks up on everything as a musician himself. What I like more though, is also the reason he's the only reactionist I subbed to. He is genuine. He likes it, doesn't like it, whatever, but he doesn't listen to it before and then make stupid faces as if he hadn't. He doesn't exploit the fact that people have become so isolated and lonely with the info age that they've been getting validation and feelings of sharing that they used to get from going to concerts and movies together what have you, from perfect strangers' videos and the comments of users, for quite some time now. Not bending over backwards for YT money, like a charlatan, but building your own base slowly yet steadily. Thank you.
You summed me up in a paragraph really well, I'm glad to see that my intentions are coming through loud and clear for you. Also glad to see you're enjoying the channel, that let's me know I'm doing something right.

"yep, I'm happy with that score"
Watching first time reactions to this song never gets old. Listen to more Jinjer man, they are just awesome musicians and Tati's vocals are out of this world. And if they come live in your neighboorhood, man, go see them.

You´re the first one to comment on the voice doubling in the middle of the verses and I think I´ve seen most reactions to this great song! Heard you mention the swedish band Arch Enemy so I guess you´re familiar with my favorite swedish band Opeth that kind of reminds me of this band. Keep up the good work!
It is recorded live, not overdubbed with the studio version as the drummer is different from the album version. His playing is different. They just polished it up in post, added a few layers and here it is.
I just love the the "first time hearing Pices reaction". When she goes into the growls the facial expression of the reactors are priceless. Excellent reaction and analysis, I enjoyed it.
Having watched this a BUNCH of times (I love watching reactions to it....), I'm _fairly_ sure that the base audio IS what they're playing live to each other, with added post-production. Thanks for giving props to everyone in the band. And yeah, I love, Love, LOVE everything about the clean sections. The grit sections only get one love (from me).

Haven't posted in a while but been lurking. Big fan of Jinjer so had to pop in to be the millionth person to suggest if you want to see if Jinjer can replicate what they do in the studio in a controlled setting live, I recommend the "Perennial" performance at Wacken Open Air 2019, which is the closing song in their set. You'll also probably get quite a number of requests for "Who Is Gonna Be The One" live at Atlas Weekend Festival in Ukraine from 2017, which is the song they open up with in this particular setlist, but I'd really highly recommend "Perennial" as the next tune to checkout. And if you eventually work through your backlog, "I Speak Astronomy" live at Hellfest from Home 2021, which is one of my favorite songs by Jinjer along with "Teacher, Teacher." A lot of reactors have done the official video of "I Speak Astronomy" but don't think I've seen anybody do one to a live performance of that track. Anyways. Great reaction and breakdown as usual DH. As you dive down the Jinjer rabbit hole, I think you'll enjoy the journey. Vlad is a bad arse on drums. Eugene's bass work is impressive as well, and Roman's tone on his guitar is sick along with just crazy tasteful playing. Tatiana's vocals and stage presence go without saying. \m/ \m/

They were supposed play near my city but covid rules caused it to be cancelled for now
Dude, you know what you're talking about... I like it!
Cheers!
The best reaction and review!
Geez. The best reaction yet. Seen a bunch. But yours was great. Truly see the knowledge you’re here to represent. Well done.
Welcome to the Jinjer Army!!!!! This is "Entry Level" Jinjer, it only gets better from here. Keep going!!!!!
Great reaction! Seeing how red your face was when you realized what the surprise was, I was afraid your mind really would blow. LOL. Also appreciate that you focused on the musicianship as well as on Tatiana’s singing. 👍😎
Dont you ever doubt my queen honestly though the more you listen you realize they are such a great tight 4 piece band
Oh the joy of watching musicians react to Jinjer and this song for the first time!
The shock value is great, but the all-around musicianship is simply outstanding!
@@NR-xd1vw Soooooo....just to be clear, you're saying I'm lumped in with those non-musicians?
Great reaction & cut analysis. I enthusiastically subscribed.
The usual second reaction is Perennial live at Wacken. It's an excellent choice to showcase their chops in a live setting, especially Tatiana's vocals. But you really can't go too far wrong with Jinjer.
This never gets old... !
TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂
Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs!
My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣
For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities).
With Jinjer you never know what to come, most of their songs are rollercoasters without coming back to the start. I`d recommend "Teacher, Teacher" next, then perhaps "Judgement and Punishment" (vocal one-take), "On the Top" and "Pit of Consciousness" (both live from Kiev), "Perennial" (live from Wacken)! And then of course the new singles from the new album: "Vortex", "Wallflower" and "Mediator" 🤔
...actually you can choose whatever Jinjer song you like, "Jinjer isn`t capable to write a bad song" as people wiser than me have stated!
😂😂😂🤘
Ah, and I forgot Tatiana`s only love song: "I speak astronomy" 😇
When you see jinjer live your mind will be blooooown away
Perennial live at Wacken you can see her sing live.
Great band!!! Nice reaction dude👍
Think you should hug Nick instead. Jinjer is awesome and tight band. Welcome to the Jinjer rabbit hole!
Excellent reaction and analysis. Subscribed, and can't wait to see your Jinjer journey. You will not be disappointed. "Perennial" live at Wacken, is a great next step. 🤟😎🤟
Even before the music starts... I can tell this is going to be dam good reaction.
HAHAHAHA Gotem!
😂 Gets ‘em every time 😂👏🏼 Never gets old 😂. Very surprised DH hadn’t heard this before 😮 I didn’t believe it at first 🤷🏻♂️ Amazing stuff 🔥
Junjer is playing tonight in my hometown San Diego
This was so enjoyable! You are so funny....I was like just keep over thinking Nick....it is coming, give it two seconds...LOL
Great reaction. Just walking out the door to go see them tonight! Been watching people react to this song for literally 4 years now and it never gets old. Glad you finally got around to Jinjer... this is definitely just the entrance to a very deep rabbit hole.
Great reaction bro. Top singer, class musicians. You nailed it.
Perennial (Live At Wacken) should be the next spot. They give a great and really cool performance.
Ha! Finally! I was wondering when you were going to get to this awesome performance. You should probably check out more of Tatiana's vocals on other songs. If you check out their live stuff, you'll see her minus the studio adjustments. :-) Great reaction. Thanks to Nick. LOL!
Man are you going to love this band!!! I can already tell by your analysis of their musicality! Subbed to take the journey with you!!! Perennial live at Wakken must be next imo! And then you can go anywhere they have an amazing catalog of songs. Plus the just released a new album that is just amazing!! Have fun!!!
I Wish I could hear this again for the first time. Loved that emotional roller coaster and WTF feeling.
you should know one thing, Jinjer is not comparable to any other band, if you get involved musically with jinjer, including the lyrics, you will notice that you are dealing with world class musicians. you may need some time to understand this band !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been a musician myself for over 40 years and a music lover for over 50 years.
many greetings from germany and please stay safe my friend > and thanx for your competent reaction
Your face turning red at the switch says it all, great reaction!
Welcome to Jinjer. Perennial live at Wacken shows her talent well. For just the drummer try Under the Dome drum playthrough.
Yes!! This is our girl and the guys can do that.
Welcome to the Jinjer rabbit hole. You now need to react to Perennial Live at Wacken (2019) to see what she can do live, and then Teacher Teacher official video. I can't wait to hear your thoughts!
I came across Jinjer in the reaction rabbit hole of UA-cam. I was blown away, added most of their songs on Spotify and least Wednesday got to see them in concert. Awesome show! Touring with Suicide Silence and All Hail The Yetti.
I love reactions that show a true knowledge behind the music being reacted to. Earned a sub here!
Nick is a good friend for getting you to react to this. Jinjer is a band that you feel sad you didn't know about sooner. Tatiana is 1 of a kind.
Wow David 🙂 I wasn't even expecting to be mentioned in your list of requestors 🤘Got me by surprise on this one.. Noticed you also did on your review of Schism by Tool...😎
This is becoming one my favorite reaction channels most definitely!
Yupp that's her. Mastered the False chords technique..... self taught.... queen Tati ;-)
Just found your channel and I gotta say, I'm so impressed with the way you do your reaction, your in depth breakdown of what you've just listened to. I'm going to watch all your videos for sure. I'm also looking forward to your channel growing. Much love, from Cape Town 🇿🇦🤘
FEELIN' YOU Year!!! Glad to hear you're enjoying the show, feel free to watch all you want.
I always enjoy the energy you give off my man!
Great reaction, really ! I love the pigs as well :-) Outstanding song and musicianship.
I've been looking forward to you reacting to Jinjer and now that you have, I must say that I am not disappointed in the least.
You gave a very fair score that I am actually surprised at. I thought that you might find it to be gimmicky and cut the score to 7.8 or lower. Bravo to you sir for gathering yourself and listening objectively.
I have to score your reaction now...
9.5... "yep, I'm happy with that score"
Watching first time reactions to this song never gets old.
Listen to more Jinjer man, they are just awesome musicians and Tati's vocals are out of this world.
And if they come live in your neighboorhood, man, go see them.
Well done Nick...!!
The more you rewind this song the more we love it!
Great review! Welcome to Jinjer!
Would love to see you do more Jinjer. As far as they go, this song is quite accessible. Keep up the good work ☺️
I saw them last Friday at El Corazon in Seattle for the first time had VIP tickets I've been a fan before this song blew up and they absolutely blew me away I've been to many many shows but theirs was incredible
The voice of an angel AND a demon.
You´re the first one to comment on the voice doubling in the middle of the verses and I think I´ve seen most reactions to this great song! Heard you mention the swedish band Arch Enemy so I guess you´re familiar with my favorite swedish band Opeth that kind of reminds me of this band. Keep up the good work!
that was fun to watch, well done Nic:D
You're great 😎 fine reaction... very well done ☺ take care and have fun with your reaction videos 😁
Yay! Love your Jinger reaction ❤️ my two favorite bands at the moment- Jinger and The Warning 🤘⚡️🔥
You need to check out Perennial Live at Wacken. Showcases a great live performance.
This is just the beginning.
Yay, Jinjer, I didn’t get a notification when this originally came out for some reason, or I maybe just missed it? But who cares! Yippie, Jinjer is great.
Dude I discovered u thru the batmetal trilogy.....but ur reaction 2 Jinjer got me as a sub. Also ur gonna love these guys, they seriously make great music and sound amazing live!
i hope you have nice words with Nick great request i love that band the Reaction was Absolute Great mr. :)
Got my tickets for dec in Tempe Arizona cant wait! Oh yea I have seen Zeppelin Live lol I am young at heart and love Great Artists!
I always love the recognition of the sick ass drummer in this song :D he's next level beast along with guitarist in my opinion :) well done sir !
I've been waiting for this since discovering your channel. Jinjer doesn't put out a bad song. They transcend genres.
The vocals are so pretty....Jinjr fans smiling.
Hope to see you reacting live to them. She has an aura that few artists have. The song ''Teacher, Teacher!'', in addition to all that, has a fantastic rhythmic meter
Not only a great singer.but the band is absolutely fantastic
