    The only thing they did is some overlays of her own clean voice, but other than that it's all her. You haven't seen anything yet. Tatiana is a beast. Welcome to the Jinjer rabbit hole. Cheers

    • @Chooopy
      @Chooopy 3 роки тому +7

      There is some layering in the second chorus under the words "brings life" etc. It also seems like they had to take multiple guitar tracks from multiple takes because from the chorus to the verse you can hear the distorted guitar sound ring out behind the cleans. Not taking it away from them, it's a studio session with post production, but not fake in any way.

    • @CgGoil
      @CgGoil 3 роки тому +3

      @@Chooopy , exactly. That is simply just how you record a song in a studio. So its just as anyone would do. As you say, it doesn’t take anything away from them, because they still play their instruments and sing the song.

    They did this video to showcase their new drummer Vlad because they liked what he added to this song. That was four years ago. Every member of Jinjer is an amazing musician.

  • @Dark__Thoughts
    @Dark__Thoughts 3 роки тому +125

    The entire band is incredibly tight and super talented. This song was actually a re-recording of an older one, specifically to show off their (at the time) new drummer, who made the song sound quite a bit different. This was also kinda what got their career really going, because the shocking nature of it made it go viral in reaction channels, which really helped their exposure. That being said, this is far from being their best song, nor do the surprises end here already. :)
    Her name is Tatiana, Roman on the guitar, Eugene on the bass, and Vlad on the drums. If you keep following the band then you will likely talk a lot more about the bassist too, because he has a very prominent role in the band and mixing and absolutely shreds it in a lot of the songs.
    Official video suggestions:
    Teacher, Teacher
    Perennial
    I Speak Astronomy
    Pit Of Consciousness
    Judgement & Punishment
    Cloud Factory
    Retrospection
    Sit Stay Roll Over
    Live suggestions:
    Perennial live at Wacken
    Who Is Gonna Be The One live
    On The Top live in Kiev
    Pit Of Consciousness live in Kiev
    Judgement & Punishment live in Melbourne
    Teacher, Teacher live in Melbourne
    Sit Stay Roll Over live in Melbourne
    If you happen to just go with one over the other then I'd suggest the high quality live versions, if available (all the live suggestions here are high quality), but the official videos are definitely worth watching too. There is also a good one take vocal performance of Judgement & Punishment that people will surely suggest a lot.

    This song also I think perfectly encapsulates Pisces as a sign.
    Even if you're not into astrology, it's just really perfect.
    Even the way that the song about halfway through changes to that like reverse tempo thing gives me chills every time because it's like the water rippling back from the edges of the pond. And then there's another big splash right at the end. It's pretty insane

    When you sense the trap, but you don't expect the trap within the trap. :D For me, YT had been suggesting this for a while before I discovered them, but the combination of the name and the look of the thumbnail made me think it wasn't something I'd be interested in. The growls are double-tracked and there is some layering on her cleans too. That said, their concert videos are where it is at with Jinjer songs. There are maybe two or three songs that have both an official video and a live video released by Jinjer Metal Band or Napalm Records where I like the studio better than the official live.
    I've seen them twice, after binging everything they'd released and quite a few bootlegs I was _more_ impressed after seeing them on stage. Tatiana is mesmerizing on a level video just can't capture, and standing next to a stack of speakers and feeling the words of her low growls shaking my bones (she goes lower than this in other songs) was unforgettable. There are bootlegs of the two shows they did in South Africa a year or two ago if you really want to hate yourself haha (I missed seeing them when I first discovered them by a few months, so I get it). They have bass playthroughs of a lot of their songs too.
    I'd suggest Teacher Teacher live in Melbourne for one of their most popular songs, Perennial live at Wacken for something a bit on the lighter side, similar in hardness to Pisces, or Who Is Gonna Be The One official live might be the song you like best as a next step - Tati really shows off what she can do with her growls, including going lower and there is dueling guitar and bass work that is sweet. Those are all solid enough to be amazing but still saves some even more amazing stuff for later. ;)
    A couple of other bands that are well worth checking out: Spiritbox with "Blessed Be" which is kinda their Pisces. A band that is a bit lighter, kinda like Evanescense with growls in some of their songs is Ad Infinitum with "Marching on Versailles" as the starting point I'd recommend - Melissa Boney is newer to growling than Tatiana and Courtney but I still enjoy her growls and feel like as she gains experience she'll become a real beast.

    You should definitely check out more of Jinjer. This tends to be the song people start with, but its very much the most formulaic of their songs. From what I understand, they weren't really expecting this song to hit it off like it did, but the drummer mixed it up and they wanted to record something showing it off.
    Perennia(Live at Wacken) is a great next one if you want to see them in person, she does a one take of Judgement and Punishment that is awesome, and Teacher Teacher is probably my favorite for a more official music video style.

They just hired Vlad as their new drummer and were so impressed with him that they wanted to showcase him in a live session. If you listen to the studio version you will hear a very dramatic difference in the drumming.
    And yeah there's four time signatures, 7/8 for the verse, 10/8 for the chorus, 6/8 for the pre-chorus, bridge and outro and a brief 4 bar transition in 4/4 before the first chorus.

    Watched probably 100 Reactions to this song, many of professional singers and voice coaches and you're the first one who referred to her sound a *Jazzy.*
    Thank you.
    I was starting to thing I was taking crazy pills or something but the first time I heard this song was without video and my mind immediately went to a 1940s jazz bar with dim lights and cigar smoke hanging just under the cealing.
    Like plucked right out is some noir short story.
    How can I be the only one hearing this?
    Good to finally hear someone else say it.

    This is the kind of reaction that Jinger deserves. The audience gets the surprise and shock that they are hungry for, but you guys deeply appreciate the whole band’s musicianship, and became instant fans for the whole package.

    Great reaction. I suggest checking out their live stuff to give you a hint of what they do live (Who Is Gonna Be The One live at Atlas and Perrennial Live at Wacken) are the two typical next vids. Anything live in Kiev and their Live at Melbourne as well. Then check out their earlier stuff. Fantastic band that just leaves you wanting more. Cheers for being inducted into the Jinjer Army!
    Edit: OH, and Tatiana's One Take of Judgement & Punishment. You have lots of catching up to do lol

    So I looked a bit and didn’t catch Jinjer’s song Outlander in any comments. Made in 2014, with live footage of a very young band, with their old drummer and a 2nd guitarist. Great cleans and growls, with a nice drop in it. It was the second song by them I heard and is still one of my favorites. Cheers you two

    Almost all their songs are a mix of singing and growling. However, if you'd like a sample of their pure jazz side, check out their song Beggar's Dance. It's only a couple of minutes long but it shows the versatility of the entire band.
