      (New to a 2018 WRX Limited) All this BS as Feedback Learn, Fine knock learn and DAM. Along with the other things to monitor is getting my ocd worked up that I might as well keep the car bones stock. Just slap some good ole chevron gas or shell gas (91 octane) top tier fluids(whether liqui moly/motul or perhaps good ole oem fluids) and just leave it alone. Don’t want my head to explode.
      If I find the ranges then maybe I’ll modify. Or idk. 😞
      Ex
      Feed back learn ( x.xx-x.xx)
      Fine knock learn (x.xx-x.xx)
      DAM (x.xx-x.xx)
      Etcetera
      I do appreciate the feedback Smeedia.

      OTS tunes will give more of these readings than a protune would and half the times the readings are the sensors going off when they shouldn't. Mod the car and enjoy or keep it stock and enjoy, both are good options 🔥😁

    AF Ratio 1
    Intake Air Temperature
    Coolant Temp
    Dynamic Advanced Multiplayer
    Feedback Knock
    Fine Knock Learn.
    Basically all you need regarding Knock and timing. Boost is already on your center console, and IAT is much more important. Staying out of boost above 120 degrees to prevent knock. Coolant Temp for stop and go traffic monitoring, because the Analog dash Guage is garbage. Also for warm up, don't start driving until 135 degrees (Coolant) has been reached for engine longevity sake. Warm up is very important.

    • @Chase_AM
      @Chase_AM 4 роки тому +8

      I would clarify and say, stay out of boost until 135 degrees, and dont go WOT until 165. Minimal load isnt going to cause issues at low temps. Once the cars been on 30 seconds or, oil has already made decent circulation (outside of extreme cold).

      i’ve heard a lot about knock and it makes me very wary of the AP, is it an accurate reading or are the computers giving bad readings due to the tune?

    • @Mikey6048
      @Mikey6048 3 роки тому

      @@joshuac2391 Knock values are quite accurate. It isn't the Accessports doing. It's the poor factory tune. You're best to get a protune.
      Values below are what you will commonly see. On a good protune. You'll rarely ever get a value other than 0.35. Fine Knock Learn randomly on cold days or hot days may have 0.35 values to make minor adjustments to timing. To account for temp change. This is no issue.
      0.35 - Nothing to worry about. Most of the time it's false knock. Sensors can pick up hard road bumps, AC cycling metal rattle etc.
      0.70 - More than likely a possible knock event. If it's once and not again during your drive. I wouldn't pay any mind to it. If it's happening a lot or consistently. More than likely you'll see DAM drop below 1.00. Which 9/10 is bad fuel or old fuel.
      1.35 - Pay attention. That is most definitely knock. If it's once and never again. I wouldn't worry. Most cars have random rare knock events. If it's consistent. Shut your car off. DAM will drop too. Most likely Bad fuel. If fuel is ruled out. Contact your tuner.
      Anything higher like 1.70 - 2.35. Definitely a problem. Contact your tuner and don't drive the car.

    • @joshuac2391
      @joshuac2391 3 роки тому +1

      @@Mikey6048 thank you, i’ve seen a lot of people saying they have 2.35 or higher with the AP and that definitely isn’t a selling point to me. I want to consider a pro tune but i’ve just recently got into tuning so i don’t know too much about them and what are good ones etc. The main reason i’d need a tune is because i want to get an air intake for the car, what protune would you suggest for an aftermarket intake?

    A bit late to the party, but AF Learning 1 and AF Correction 1 are also excellent monitors to keep up on.
    AF Learning will vary from as low as -12 to +12 sometimes beyond, you want to make sure this isn't going all over the place, under idle and no boost its okay to see some changes either way.
    AF Correction is similar to AF learning but this is an immediate value of correction rather than over time, the values will go from -35 to +35 and its normal to see them hit both those max during driving.
    What you WANT to see, is when you hit any boost over 0-PSI, that both of these values are either 0 or a tiny variation, + or - 1.
    If you see either of these values going wild either way when under boost pressure, it means you probably have some busted ringlands, or something is leaking somewhere.
    It's a good telltale sign for ringland issues, and health of said.

    2 things...
    1. Fairly positive you won't need to have the access port tell you that you threw a rod through the block...

    Great info here bro, I really appreciate it. It's hard for me to trust what values are "normal" or not without hearing the throttle condition (WOT, light throttle, or idle). According to Cobb, the DAM is within "normal" behavior at 0.6-1.0 on the FA20DIT during all throttle conditions. On feedback and fine knock, 0 is normal at idle and corrections of 0-4 at other throttle conditions. I just installed mine last week with a Stage 1 +BigSF 93 tune and my DAM went to .75 and then .83 and back to .75 during some spirited driving today. Also seeing the feedback and fine knock hit -2.88 at throttle conditions other than idle. At idle they will always return to 0. I'm trying to understand what is truly normal, and what is potentially harmful. Lol sorry for the long comment, but you seem to know your stuff, and I could always use some input.

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  4 роки тому +2

      No worries! If I ever see DAM drop and feedback knock increase its a good sign something is going on. I don't generally pay much attention to fine knock learn or AF correction but they Re also good gouges to keep an eye on. If you see increased knock without DAM changing it could be a rattle, heat shield thats loose, road noise or bumps. Don't let the anxiety port push you too far. Just use it as a reference

    I installed an APv3 on my 19 Sti this morning. I run 94 OCT which Cobb says is like ACN91 trash fuel. Fair enough. Subie mechanic at the dealership who owns a 20 STi tells me..."never run lower than 94 man". I install Cobb's Stage 1 ACN91/CAD94 LGW map and on the way to work this morning, I notice I'm getting -1.4 feedback knock, DAM is steady at 1.00. Hit a safe little dead end street to see what is happening at WOT. It hit 18.2lbs of boost which is a bit high for LWG, feedback knock and DAM are steady, -1.4 (I watched it hit that live right around 5000k) and DAM at 1.00. Understanding thanks to you, that hitting -1.4 is "normal", should I even bother trying the Normal Waste Gate map? I plan to get a pro dyno tune, but back logs are ridiculous. I am installing the SF+ intake this weekend and will go to the appropriate tune, starting at low waste. Should I go to 91OCT tune? 91 Shell V-Power and Canadian Tire 91 fuel is top tier rated, but it's 0 ethanol which I damn well know is better for knock reduction.

I recommend anyone running a Cobb flex fuel kit to monitor ethanol final. I follow your UA-cam channel I bought a 18 sti about 2 months ago o have been in love with these cars my entire life but I know absolutely nothing about cars in general I’ve learned so much from your channels and I go with your opinion and direction over anyone else who maybe does things different keep making videos bro
    I do have a question and I can’t seem t find an answer anywhere I have an 18 all stock no mods I bought it used an old man had it ans it only had 40 k on it o got my access port in a few days ago I’m on stage one + sf on 93 gas my dam and feed bak knock along with fine knock learn have been at 0 they have not moved once in days until today I get getting reading of 1.4 consistently in 3 hear when I get to around 6k rpms it’s adjusts it’s self goes back to 0 immediately same with fine knock learn dam is 1 that has not moved at all thank you baby Jesus bc I love this car. I named her Stephanie like I said not once did I get anything from either knock sensor until today. I wouldn’t be concerned but it’s pretty consistent it will go to one 1.4 then 1.05 then .7 then ,35 and feed back knock fixes it. And it will be fine and then later it will do it again it’s also been very hot these last few days my intake temp will be around 80 idel and drops as I drive sometimes low like 30. Air fuel is text book coolant also text book:.
    Also I’m installing a Cobb air oil separator
    3 port boost controller
    Turbo inlet pipe
    Bpv
    Intake (already installed)
    Then a invidia catted divorcée wastegate dp with a r400 Gemini cat back
    And fuel system
    Cobb pump
    Cobb regular kit
    And new injectors
    Problem is it’s all coming at different times everything but the fuel and cat back I have I’m looking at 2 weeks for them to get here so we’re installing the
    Aos
    Boost controller
    Bov
    Inlet hose
    And intake
    Then in a week or so after
    Dp
    Catback
    Fuel system
    My tuner said he would bend me a map so I can do the first set of installs and drive with them until I get the
    Other stuff on and then will send another map so I can drive it there to get the tune I hiysss my 2 questions are
    1 my is my knock acting up now
    2 is it smart to drive with one set of mods on and not the others even with a map for it ? I have typed this question in a million different ways and can’t dine and answer you’d a pro with this shit can you please help me last thing I want to do is damage this car I got a separate extended warranty for this car to cover my ass bc I know sub will void it
    Can you help me what the answer to the knock issue it always ones in 3rd ay 6k and 4th around the same all other heats are fine again it’s been hot and I used a different gas station this time it said 93 but it’s probably watered down should I be worried
    And should I do one set of mods then the other ?
    If you could answer that It would be helpful and put me at ease I’m a worry wart and especially with my car I vacuum it every other day wash it every week change oil at 2700 miles

    • @Smeedia
      @Smeedia  4 роки тому

      For the knock issue OTS maps are just prone to it happening, a loose heat shild or even. Pot hole can set it off. -1.40 & -2.80 are normal to see as well if you start seeing your DAM drop and feedback knoxk kncrease then you have an issues. As for the installs I wojld do them all at once but thats just my personal preference for installing parts. Just stay out of boost and you should be fine until your protune

    • @marcmiller8469
      @marcmiller8469 4 роки тому

      Smeedia_ I want to buy I’m so impatient so the map that I’ll be using until the down pipe and exaust goes on will probably only let me boost Norman stock numbers until the exhaust goes on and the fuel system
      This would keep me from putting to much on my bottom end and not screw with my timing and fuel pump right? I’d that’s not the case then I will just wait it out

    So I have an ‘05 that’s had quite the amount of work done to it prior to my purchasing of it. It was built and tuned professionally and the car drives great. I just learned about DAM and decided to put that on my V3 monitor. It reads 1.0 like it should for every other sti that’s not my generation. What would be a reasonable explanation for this? Is it fair to think that maybe the ECU was changed in this car with the IAG short block? It’s a Tuff 2 short block so idk if that build would represent itself differently to the access port or what. Idk. Just looking for some guidance to know how I should be looking at this

    Can a loose brake calliper be picked up as a knock by the sensor? I am getting DAM values in the range of .37 to .44. I have a 2015 WRX Limited, and I just bought a Cobb access port and I am using the 91 octane map. The car runs well, and certainly runs much better than it did with the stock map. From the video and the comments I can appreciate that the DAM is very important, but that it can also be thrown off by noise coming from loose heat shields, etc. unfortunately, no one has been able to figure out where the clunk comes from when I go over a bump without the brakes applied. It looks like I’m stuck with this clunk for some time. Could that be throwing off the DAM or is that range of low values so concerning that I should immediately get it looked at? The only other thing I’ve noticed since changing the matter is that my gas mileage is about 15% worse.

    I’m new to all of this and was wondering if you have a video of what to monitor when on flex fuel. My damn changes when ever I give it gas and goes back to zero when off of it. Currently my af learn 1 is positive and negative often and has been low double digits.

      What values are you seeing in AF learn?

      @@Smeedia I saw -34 and positive 30s last week and then I cleaned my mass air flow sensor, the map sensor and my air filters. Now the car is running low double digits but only sometimes.
