Fine knock learn is interesting. You can hold throttle in the area where it senses knock and the AP will reduce it by .2 increments until back to zero.
Extra comment for people with the VA chassis WRX (FA20DIT). The knock sensor on that car is extremely sensitive and it is normal to see DAM values ranging from 0.612-1.000 so don't get worried when it drops when the weather gets warm or there is a small event. Edit. Also that car will show a -1.41 Feedback Knock when the ac turns on but thats also fine.
@Cody 404 honestly in my experience almost anything will trigger the -1.41. even just accelerating in too high of a gear (like hitting the gas at 60 in 6th gear)

Feedback knock is when thr knock sensor picks up on detonation. Essentially the ECu detects combustion events when they shouldent be happening. Detonation will destroy the gas layer protecting thr piston and the valves, the extreme heat from thr k oak event is what leads to burnt valves and broken ringlands 🙏

Very informative video. Great job! Found a nice donor at the junkyard last week. Scooped a sick Kenwood headunit someone uninstalled and just left in there as well as a new center console lid. Went back today and got the driver window regulator w/ motor that I suspect I need for the FXT, which someone also uninstalled and left there. Hey, less work I have to do right? And as a bonus a g35 sedan in my exact rare color was in there. Gonna grab a door or two and a fender over the next few days.
Thank you so much for doing this video, really helpfull. Got a whole bunch of Cobb stuff for my Subie including the A/P and I'm eager to learn from your video how to set it up properly. I'm familiar with flat engines but this is my first Subie and boy, these engines are itchy (LOL). It's good to know what's actually going on in there. Looking forward to the next vid.
Depends if your the basic sub owner that just wants to aound cool by adding a exhaust and a intake that doesnt really do a ton for yoi anyways then yes absolutely the accesport is a must because the gagues are nice and etunes with the right tuner are super convieniant. Due to the green speed update e85 or flexfuel went out the window. With the newer subs you can retain all the emissions stuff but with the older ones it was way easier to do the deletes and run the the flexfuel kit and get some pretty nice power gainz.
Great video!! I just bought a 2018 WRX and found a Cobb in the glovebox. I had never heard of it before so im trying to soak up as much knowledge as I can. I have one question though. The previous owner has the boost max set at around 22 lbs. That seems high to me and Im concerned with hurting the motor. What would be your recommendation? Thank you so much and I appreciate the video and help!!
I put my acessport in a couple days ago and put the tune on my car and ever since then the cold startups aren’t the same. It goes to 2k RPMS and then instantly drops to 1.5K RPMS and warms up there, How do I fix it?
hey man, I just bought a 2006 WRX STI. it had an existing Evap leak that I fixed, I had to unplug the battery and pull the alternator to get to it. Previously the car never knocked over -4.0, now I see a value of -11.0 when I come up a hill. Just cruising, no boost, going ~60-65 in sixth gear. any suggestions?
I had an accessport I used in my 2015 wrx worked great but I had 6 data readings like this video but I switched to my 04 wrx now n only have one data reading now can I change that or no since the age?
I need to change the settings for my 3.5 Bar MAP sensor. I can turn it off and on but not change the sensor pressure. I found what appears to be an adjustment screen but can't change sensor pressures using my laptop. The COBB website is not helpful. The screen just says adjustment is not available.
Great video. I’ve been waiting for this. I do have a question. What are the small numbers below each live monitoring gauge? I’m assuming high and low recorded during driving session. If your live numbers return to zero or whatever is spec after a knock peak for instance, is that good? If something was seriously wrong would it read bad numbers in the real-time all the time? For instance, is a registered high and low something to be concerned about or if the real-time returns to zero or whatever spec should be does that mean the car has made the correction ? Sorry I hope this makes some sense. It’s been something I’ve been thinking about as I am new to the access port scene. Thanks again!
@@Smeedia I guess the main 3 Important ones. DAM, feedback knock and fine knock learn. So say they registered a high number of -2.8 or -4.2 and it stored it in the high low section but the real-time is at 0. I know dam is ideal to 1 with 15-21 wrx. Im assuming it can drop if it reads some numbers with the other 2.
@@Tactical_Duck_ for dam, it can fluctuate a little due to bad gas usually, and it'll climb back up in small increments, if it drops say to 0.725 or whatever and starts climbing back up to .850 and back up to 1.000 you can assume it was bad gas, if it stays down you could assume theres issues, if you have a -2.8 knock and its now at 0, that knock has gone away and will be learned out through the accessport when you go back over that rpm range/load, from personal experience i see it start at say that -2.8 it'll be active and slowly work its way down, that means its actively doing its job and learning and correcting that load/rpm range, the lower 2 numbers read your LOW/HIGH respectively, so that can be useful to see peak AFR,boost etc but really doesnt mean much
What part of the country do you live in brother? You think the weather and driving style would be some things to think about when choosing what monitors to have showing?
how much should i spend for a used accessport? what are some things i should look for when buying one used? most importantly, should i buy an used one?
So I bought a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 with an Cobb Accessport already on it, and a problem I have is where the previous owner set the rev limiter, which is why I'm watching this video, but my problem now is that under the tuning section of my Accessport the "adjustments" tab isn't there, is there a way to add it or should I contact a professional tuner about this problem
100% I've actually learned smoke through the HPA classes than I have sifting through google and trying to play with things myself. I highly suggest taking notes going through the classes
Just saw your video on ordering your 2022 BRZ and it was great. I want to buy the new 2022 BRZ, but I want to know how much the deposit was and also if Subaru is offering leasing on it. Kind Regards and keep the great work
Hey Tanner. I have a 2020 Sti with 30K and recently had a Cobb SF intake, IAG AOS, cylinder 4 cooling mod and Cobb Accessport installed with a pro tune. In the past 2 days the AP has recorded a fine knock learn of -6.90 and -7. The feedback knock has not gone over -4.20 and my DAM has stayed at 1 at all times. Any reason to be concerned with the fine knock learn numbers? Thanks
May get one of these if the opportunity arises, but I'm fine without the anxiety port too xD. Still gotta get my ECU unlocked and a tune in, but I'm at about 300 miles on the RA block, oil change after I got home from the builder. (120 mi). I figure I'll probably do the oil change at 5-600 miles once more with conventional 10w-30 and then throw in the Motul X-cess Gen 2 and Purolator filter I picked up (at 1000)! I can't wait for my break in period to be over but I don't wanna just throw away money just driving for solely that reason 😂. Can't be throwing away money when you got a wife and kid lol
Installing an AccessPort with a pre-existing tune, be it open source or other. Does the AP automatically install a new tune or erase the existing tune on that first install? Is it possible to backup an existing tune before hand somehow and then be able to load it via the new AP? Awesome vid, really helpful!
Technically it does neither. It saves a backup of the ECU itself (including the tune/map) onto the AP, then overwrites the ECU with new software (you choose the new tune during install). The backup can then be saved to your PC as well for safe keeping. When you uninstall the AP, it will uninstall the software from the ECU and replace it with the original backup and tune.
@@surrrithux So I have no choice but to get the car re-tuned when I install the AP. I can't use an OTS tune since I don't have OTS parts. The current tune is old, from 2012 and does need updated but it works for now, the car runs good. That's why I was wondering if I could install the AP and backup the current tune and then reinstall that tune but with the AP in place so I could use it's monitoring functions and such that @smeedia covers in the vid here.
My 17 sti is stock (to the best of my knowledge) I plugged in the accessport and chose the stage 0 map and my dam is showing .5 I’m wondering if I should be concerned.
Someone I know at work asked if I want to buy his cobb from him. What do I need to check before buying it from them? I believe they had a ford focus before their Jetta currently. Is the Cobb device able to be switched between different makes of cars after it is reset?
Dumb question here but…. after straight piping there’s a O2 sensor code … is it possible to program that there’s no cat or just gotta deal with the code
Just got 1 of last 2021 STI's ordered from factory. Can I add exhaust and shirt ram air intake without a tune?? And what's best exhaust? My first subaru wanna do it all right!!
On behalf of my girlfriend I just had an access port installed last night.. Both her dam and feedback knock are reading 0.0 and never change throughout the day.. shouldn’t there be some value reading any at all??
Hey Tanner, my brother just got the accessport and big sf intake from cobb for his 2016 wrx. Installed the intake (which is the only mod, everything else is stock) and is running the stage 1+ tune which according to Cobbs map notes on their website is the tune for just an intake. Over the course of the past few days his DAM has dropped down to .375. The only feedback knock he is getting is the occasional 1.41 except one time he said he saw 11 something but it was only once when he got on it and it hasn't happened again. I was wondering if you have any suggestions as to why the DAM is so low? Thanks for all the content and I am so glad to see you have blue back in your garage! Sad to see Karma go but excited to see where you're going with your adventures in getting a shop and all. Thanks again!

Is perfect freaking timing I just bought a v3
Perfect timing 👌🔥
Excellent video Smeedia!
Thank you 🔥🙏😁
First time using a access port you info are awesome keep it coming..
🙏🙏🙏🙏
Well this one video explains alot of things of the cobb accessport! thanks so much on taken some time away to help with understanding it more.
Anytime and glad it helped! 😁
Looking forward to the next vid.
just picked up a accessport for my 2019 wrx, I only have a axel back, but don't have an intake, is there a tune for that?
Stage 0 🙏
Can I have a (new marriage) accessport?my ECU been married to another AP.just want to put it back to stock.IDK what stage been installed in here.
I put my acessport in a couple days ago and put the tune on my car and ever since then the cold startups aren’t the same. It goes to 2k RPMS and then instantly drops to 1.5K RPMS and warms up there, How do I fix it?
Sometimes I get wild knock like 9's or 11's when going over cobblestone. Scares the shit out of me 😂😂
Lol shits wack 😅
hey man, I just bought a 2006 WRX STI. it had an existing Evap leak that I fixed, I had to unplug the battery and pull the alternator to get to it.
You can, up in the top right corner click the arrow and go to number of gauges and you can set it up however you like 🙏
You can change your launch boost? Only rpm and the manager system customize anytime?
lol just copped an ap at boxerfest yesterday, and then you come out with this. great vid!
Perfect timing 🔥 how was boxer fest?!
I need to change the settings for my 3.5 Bar MAP sensor. I can turn it off and on but not change the sensor pressure. I found what appears to be an adjustment screen but can't change sensor pressures using my laptop. The COBB website is not helpful. The screen just says adjustment is not available.
What exhaust do you have sounds amazing !
Thanks for putting this out!
Anytime 🥳
WooHoo FIRST!
Just got the hoodie today too. Thanks my dude.
Eyyyy glad it made it safe!
Correct those are your highs and lows, as for it returning to zero which parameter would you be referencing?
Totally fine to buy one used, just ensure it comes with everything, the support model is for your car and it is unmarried
Do you have a video talking about what the "FP Diff Comp" parameter means? Gotta have a FP sensor for it, but just curious what's normal and such.
I was thinking about taking the classes, are they worth investing if you want to tune your own car?
100% I've actually learned smoke through the HPA classes than I have sifting through google and trying to play with things myself. I highly suggest taking notes going through the classes
14:50 into video how you get the green, yellow , red light flashing ? 😮 didn’t know it can do that lol
Just saw your video on ordering your 2022 BRZ and it was great. I want to buy the new 2022 BRZ, but I want to know how much the deposit was and also if Subaru is offering leasing on it.
Kind Regards and keep the great work
Is the device made for one vehicle ,or does any cobb device work for any and every car?
Sorry if I missed it, my question for you is when do I need to buy an access port for my car. At what point in modifying my car do I need to get one?
As soon as you start doing any power type of modification 🤙
Thanks
How do I keep my tune adjustment after turning it off
May get one of these if the opportunity arises, but I'm fine without the anxiety port too xD.
Oh and she isn't burning oil my guy. :)
Eyyyy glad to hear its going smoothly!!!
What’s the difference LWG and HWG stage 1 tune for 2016 Subaru wrx does it have more power or?
Hey if you’re still looking for a decent starter Tig welder, Eastwood has some. Non strike start style too!
Ended up getting a tig only and doing much better now 😁🔥
@@Smeedia niiice! Def future content?
Once I install one will it come on when I start the car or do I gotta let it load on accessory then start the car?
Can I permanently disable a specific code on my car with this?
How can you get new maps for the access port? For different octanes
Exactly what Surrrithux said, you'd have to get a retune. The tune would have had to be built in access tuner to work with the AP
So if I get a down pipe do I need a tuner to tune it or should I be good with accessport?
Does launch control work on an automatic WRX?
My 17 sti is stock (to the best of my knowledge) I plugged in the accessport and chose the stage 0 map and my dam is showing .5
I’m wondering if I should be concerned.
They make some O2 sensor bugs to "trick" the system. Legally speaking I can't condone it 😅
It's safe to change to Reflash Only: River-91 oct-High
Boost-Final With POPS AND FLAMES?
Just got 1 of last 2021 STI's ordered from factory. Can I add exhaust and shirt ram air intake without a tune?? And what's best exhaust? My first subaru wanna do it all right!!
No, you 100% need a tune for those. Congrats on the car too! 🔥
Watching this actually, my anxiety down for all the qeastions I was asking for 😂
🙏🙏🙏
On behalf of my girlfriend I just had an access port installed last night.. Both her dam and feedback knock are reading 0.0 and never change throughout the day.. shouldn’t there be some value reading any at all??
What is the car? 🙏
When you first flash a map on it is not uncommon to see 0s
Try resetting ECU learning
Let the car isle for 10 minutes without bliping the throttle
Moniter and see if it happens again 🙏🙏
@@Smeedia will do. Thank you!
Whats your opinions on battery chargers while flashing the car? My car only had 9000 miles, but I still get anxious over a bricked ECU haha
I use a tender on mine whenever flashing 🤝
