People claim results are better from a dyno tune but I guess that is debatable. A proper e tune requires an air fuel gauge so you can video or record air fuel readings and rpm’s while logging. Logging is the process of using your accessport or laptop computer to frame freeze certain parameters during a pull. Say for example, log injector duty cycle, wastegate duty cycle, rpm, intake relative pressure, fine learn nock and whatever else the tuner wants to look at in order to make adjustments to the different tables used to calibrate engine performance. Normally start with idle logs and progress from there until you are driving like an asshole in 4th gear from 3000 to 8000 rpm. It is dangerous to do on public roads, take your car to a dyno if possible. But whatever, you do your pull, frame freeze it and name it so you can email it to the tuner. The tuner looks at all the parameters on the log and airfield/rpm video. Then the tuner goes to work on his laptop computer and makes adjustments to the different tables to accomplish the optimal calibration of air fuel and timing, magic. The tuner emails you, the customer, a revised map for the idiot, you and I, to flash and log again. You and the tuner exchange revision maps until the desired balance is achieved, no knock, smooth power delivery, additional torque and horsepower. How to tune is a completely different matter, that’s what the tuner does at his end on the magic tables.
Hey, so all of the accessport stuff makes 100% sense. When you're referring to sending logs to your e-tuner, is this "person" someone through Cobb or is this someone you found online? Or is this someone who owns a dynoshop? Where do you find a reputable e-tuner? Thanks
This person is whichever tuner you choose (not Cobb). It could be any national tuner that offers etuning services (which at this point is majority of them). I found kind usually through word of mouth or Facebook groups. If you're looking for some to start with for research purposes I can suggest some.
A few questions for tuner talk, or if you can answer: Do tunes safely adjust to drastic elevation changes? (ie snowboarding tips) Will you have to update the tune over long term if parameters change (and would it be full price again)? What's the highest amount of miles/time someone has been running an etune on the FA24? Thanks!!!
Just had my AP delivered and arrived. I am a bit hesitant on installing. Do I need a computer to connect the logs ? I also ordered a battery charger since I don't want to ake the risk.
@@FranciscoMartinez-d3r7i depends where you got the AP from. If it's straight from Cobb it's possible the ap comes with tunes. You can plug it to your PC and download Accessport Manager from gonna website. Then plug the AP and in and the program will show you what tunes are on. You can download all the OTS ( off the shelf) tunes from Cobbs website and just drag and drop to the AP. Most people like to use the battery charger just to be safe. If you have one it doesn't hurt!
Was your tuner able to monitor Air/Fuel ratio during your test runs and, if so, how? It's my understanding that you can't do that (datalog AFR) with an Accessport anymore since Cobb went green. The tuner i contacted indicated i would need to make a video of my AFR gauge readout and the corresponding engine RPM. Thanks!
Nice video sir. We have 2 2013 WRXs (Base & STi). Modded beyond COBB maps (FMIC intalled) Who around Brevard county can provide ETune maps for us? I would definitely pull the trigger to get the maximum benefit. Thank you in advance
You can go with an etune with any tuner in the US. Check out Graham at Boosted Performance Tuning. He is my tuner and sponsor. Or you can check out Anthony at Drunkmann Tuning. I can personally vouch for both of them: Https://www.drunkmanntuning.com www.boostedperformancetuning.com
I have a question on used Cobb AP, since I see a few floating around on the FB marketplace. Do I have to buy one specific to the VB, or can I just buy any used Cobb AP?
Yes you need to buy the Accessport for your car. The way they have it set up is each v3 AP is the same but the installed license and software is specific for the car. You CAN buy one that isn't for your car but you'd have to pay Cobb to relicense it for your car and that can get expensive unless you get an AP for free or $100.
@@ChinitoBeanitos if you don't have the original USB cable you'll have to try a few different ones. This is an issue I had until I tried about 5 cables. When I found one that worked ( usually usb2) I out masking tape around it and labeled it AP cable lol
How come like 60% of subies are blowing up on the v2’s and v3’s I can’t even find a v1 but they seem to work the best, I genuinely don’t like Cobb anymore so what’s the alternative?
@@chasestoddard6984 I Mena if it's supported for your car. It's still best to get the latest one but this seems like it would be a better question for Cobb.
@@ethansullings3923 It's actually really easy. They tell you to export a file from your access port using accessport manager on your computer. Email them that file. They do some modifications to a change. The license email it back to you which then you load back into your access port. If you end up going this route and you need help with this, let me know. I can make a quick video on it for you.
They are saying it's ok to run. If you do I would keep track of your AFR. If you see any negative effects then just take it off. If everything looks good you can keep it on. I haven't installed the Perrin yet but. Don't have a stock car to do testing on anymore. I'm sure it'll be fine but eventually I would get a specific tune as the OTS does not account for any intake.
If you need help with your Cobb Accessport or even just basic tuning questions let me know!
Dude thank you for this video i have been thinking about getting one of these so i think this made my choice alot easier
If course! This will help if you are etuning for the first time. 🤘
