  • This compact semi automatic washing machine first appeared in the 1984 Argos catalogue and ran for several years in much the same design with a colour update in the 90s. The first version was launched in the 70s and was branded Calor in some countries. In this video I look at the machine in depth and show how to complete a pre wash, soak, wash and rinse cycle.

Good old Tefal Wash Boy. The first mini washing machine that came onto the market in the 1970s. I can even remember the old TV commercials.

Hi Roger here some history: in Mexico Hoover was famous because of their small and reliable washing machines. Similar to the ones sold in England but with one tube, the dual tube was expensive so people chose an Across-Whirlpool one instead. Hoover try to sell some cleaners here (they manufacture some models here at that time) but they had a Eureka-Koblenz metal one competitor and that one won the best selling cleaner here. So I was amazed at the moment an English-Spanish late friend told me Hoover it’s for vacuums cleaners. Anyway now I follow your channel and you show a washing machine that remembers me that old Hoover machine that lasted more than thirty years made in metal aluminium and steel cover. By the way we didn’t got the American Electrolux due to the franchise limitations for the now Aerus Lux instead the Swedish brand Electrolux chose to manufactures cleaners in Mexico for more than 70 years until they move to China and sold its operations here to a Chinese company that still manufactures some old Volta models and others for American branding products. And another note I found a Hoover Portapower because of one of your videos and I love it.

Nice to see it, the calor version was sold in france and belgium, both calor and tefal are part of the seb group which creates small home appliances.
By the way there's a brazilian brand part of seb group called ARNO, they still create portable washing machines even though they look very different to that, it's called arno lavete

Cracking little machine! My portable washer really washes thoroughly, but it is quite harsh on clothes so I'm careful what I put in there. I mainly use it for my dirty cleaning cloths and towels to be honest but they always come out very clean. Unfortunately the spinner stopped working but I do have a fantastic Thomas centrifugal spinner. The main problem with these imo is that they use a lot of Water for the small load. I was shocked especially for rinsing so I started spinning before rinsing which saves the extra rinses.

I like the reverse action, I could have done with that on my Hoovermatic! The washing could end up in an awful ball and it was a struggle to separate it all for spinning, especially if I'd used really hot water.

You probably would have needed a high lather powder in that as opposed to these capsules. The capsules are designed for automatic machines and produce low lather suds, the high lather powders were designed for twin tub machines of the 50s - early 90s and produced much more soap and therefore a more thorough wash (these powders are also branded as handwash powders).

Hello, my friend! Your video is very helpful and informative. We are doing a common thing. Helping parents make the right choice! Everything we do is for the benefit of our children! I didn't mean to take your efforts. Sorry!
I will buy such a vacuum cleaner and do a review myself.
    Video removed.
Sorry again, didn't mean to offend you!
