    Think you are one of the only people I have watched that actually know how to use one of these machines the correct way! I have a small one of these I use in our camper, they are great machines and I find my whites/lights look better after being washed in my portable washer than in my main washing machine. Great video.

    I am receiving delivery of my first twin tub washer in a few days off eBay so i thought i would go on you tube to see if there were any postings on it's use. Well yours was first up and after flipping through all the others yours was by far the very best and most professionally demonstrated flawless presentation and very well narrated with no umming or arring ..i think maybe you have done a bit of public speaking or similar you are a very articulate human being and thanks so much for your posting.

    If you don't rinse out all of the soap properly, when the towels/clothes dry, they will be stiff. Also, excess soap allows for more dirt to attach to the towl/clothes as you use/wear them. This is an awesome machine and I thank you so much for going into such wonderful detail!!!!

    Thank you very much for taking the time to do this review. I rent and the automatic machine broke down but didn't want to buy a new one as I'll be moving soon and I'll probably have one in the new flat but can still use this one to wash all the cat's blankets/beds/cleaning cloths etc. I looked a lot, but most reviews are about machines not available in the UK, so finally decided to get one thanks to you. I'll keep you posted once I have it!

    I've got one,and had it for a long time now. It's a brilliant little machine. I got it originally to use temporary when my automatic broke. Found it was more efficient so never replaced the automatic. Ideal for a single person, and a good price as well. I have modified mine though,and made it even better. I replaced the flimsy filling hose with a strong one that are on the old twin tubs. I also replaced the spinner mat for a better one,again one like they had on the old twin tubs. I've also lengthened the other hose that empties so that it will reach up to the sink,and around the taps,and it empties down the kitchen sink.

    I had a Speed Queen twin tub from about 1976-1980. I loved it, cuz I had 3 little ones at home and no space for a full size washer/dryer. I didn't see it as a hassle to transfer the clothes from one tub to the other. It was a blessing to have it. It sure saved me from toting laundry and kiddos to the laundromat or using a scrub board in the bath tub. The later was something I'd been doing too often. I'd run the water into the spin tub to rinse some. Then drain the wash tub, fill it up and run the load back thru for a second rinse. Then use the rinse water for the next load to wash. The drain hose was connected with the water hook up. I can't explain how speed queen designed it, but the set up kept the drain line secured all the time.

      @@CreepyMcSteezerson it can break, you're right. I think you should always try to keep water on the wash side while you dry and wash heavy stuff one at a time in the wash side. Really fluffly large blankets I would think would not work. Other than that, I've washed winter coats in it, lots of sweaters, shirts, jeans. You just have to be active and go through 3 minute wash and rinse cycles, so that you can clean everything in a timely manner.

    I'm in the states, what do you mean by non-bio detergent.
    I had one of the HE machines with the plate at the bottom. It was full size machine.
    It used very little water. I honestly think in most cases I could have done a better job hand washing things. I was never so glad when that thing quit working.
    I have to say that machine does what a machine is suppose to do, pull the water and detergent through the clothes with sufficient water to do so. I was impressed when it got the really dirty tea towel clean. (we call those dish towels in the states).
    I wonder why they just don't make the machine as one tub, the concept already exists.
    Good video

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic 9 років тому

      Ken Dire We have biological and non biological detergents in the UK. People with sensitive skin can have a bad reaction to clothes washed with bio detergents that contain enzymes to digest stains and dirt, so non bio detergents don't have the enzymes in them.
      I believe you can get a single tub washer like this, but they are not as widely available.

      ***** I haven't used one but they seem better built than the Good Ideas model. I believe they make full sized twin tubs and some have a five year guarantee if I remember correctly.

    I don't have this brand but if you live in the US in an apartment this lil guy will save you tons of time and money. The spinner dries clothes better than a full size machine so all my clothes dry overnight on a regular day. Only bad thing is that towels can be a little crunchy but I just shake them and squeeze them into a ball to bend the fibers

    great video and very informative. my concern is that all the steps make each load quite tedious ?

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic 8 років тому +2

      Far less tedious than washing by hand though.

    • @HJKelley47
      @HJKelley47 8 років тому

      Less tedious, then buy an automatic, top loading/front loading washing machine with all of the many electronic options. This will definitely make life extremely easy, and will cost a lot more money. In the US an automatic top loading/front loading washing machine will cost you anywhere from $450-$899+. Guarantee you, for that money it will not be flimsy and folks will feel so much better. When you spend $80-$139 what can we really expect? As long as my clothes are clean, in the final analysis I'm happy, even if it means I may have to add an additional step or two in the process. We ladies spend more time than that at the beauty shop getting our hair, nails & pedicures taken care of.

    80 in UK money is 97.60 in US dollars. This video was made in 15, so add about another (more or less) 25 bucks for inflation purposes. Not a bad machine for 120.00

    If the drain hose is so flimsy, what happens if it breaks ? The water will go everywhere unless the hose is replaced, this may not be easy for many.
    Other similar YT videos never spin the washed clothes before the rinse. But this method makes more sense, I must admit I would never have thought of doing it that way. But it sounds far better as long as the spinner works well

    I'm going to wash and rinch in the same tub then move things to the spinner. Do you have to rinch in the spinner?
    You are the only one who showed that you can wash and rinch in the same tub at different times of course. ..... TKS I'm buying one now. Oh and you showed that one can put a lot into each load. Tks

    • @ibaisaic
      @ibaisaic 4 роки тому

      You don't have to rinse in the spinner. You can empty the wash tub after washing and add fresh water. I would spin the clothes after washing to extract the soapy water before the first rinse.

    I like how you didn't put fabric softener on the tea towels... Makes sense cause say someone needed to pat the side of their mouth from a little spill you wouldn't want that strong smell hitting you in the nose 😅. Your video was truly helpful now I don't have to worry about destroying my in law's machine 😧. And yes to hand dry is a kill especially when its large items like towels and blankets

    • @ibaisaic

      Your model probably doesn’t have a pump. The one in the video does, so the drain hose doesn’t have to be lower for the water to drain.
