+lykavsc1 Todats Pirelli slicks has less grip than those grooved tires. The grooved tires were alot bigger so the contact surface is somewhat the same as todays slicks. However the rubber compound was much more grippy than todays rubber. The Ultrasofts and Supersofts are harder than the grooved tires.

The F2004 is legitimately (based on lap records and race time) - the fastest F1 car ever constructed. The fastest lap ever completed was at Monza by Barichello in this car in 2004 (during qualifying).

Williams, the team who has the 2nd more hardware and tenure, trails massively behind that with 9 and 7 titles respectively, with a tenure in F1 since '78? iirc. So until those records are broken Ferrari will always be 'most special'. On top of that, whenever you speak to someone outside of F1 who are not fans, when they think of F1 they usually think of or refer to Ferarri cars and/or Schumacher's era in F1.
Attending the 2004 British GP has been the highlight of my life. To know that I came withing metres of this thing(and Michael Schumacher) and got to hear the noise piercing sound of that V10 makes me rejoice.

Probably the best F1 car ever build. During pre-season tests, the F2004 ran 2 seconds fast than F2003, and Ferrari's engineers thought there was a mistake on weight. Just think that Fiorano Circuit record lap is still of Schumacher on F2004 after 19 years.
The way FIA screwed Ferrari over by changing the rules for 2005 to deliberately stop Ferrari from winning was just absolutely sick and pathetic. Meanwhile mercedes was allowed to dominate with the same rules for 8 years. And some clowns still have the audacity to claim that "FIA favors Ferrari". What a ridiculous nonsense.
I love this car, and its sound. I can’t get enough of it. Michael Schumacher driving it is the icing on the cake. My favourite driver of all time like this car too, he’s definitely something special.
That moment at the start, when the engine is struggling to let the power explode, and then the sound become clear gear after gear with zero noises to annoying the orchestra. That little moment, for me, it's happiness.
That Ferrari around Monaco Jesus…. that sound of the TC and the screaming V10 going so fast around that narrow track, 6:46 chills. Definitely up there with Senna going around Monaco one handed like a champ.

Personally I never liked the traction control on the V10 Ferraris in the lower RPM range. It made the engine sound scratchy, like it had a cold. Like in this video. My favorite engine of the V10 era, despite being a McLaren fan, was the R25 in the Renault driven by Alonso. It was such a pure engine note that it almost sounded tuned like a musical instrument. And the traction control didn’t strangle the engine sound like the Ferrari did. There’s also a great video on youtube showing the Renault engine on the dyno doing a track simulation. Watching the fuel spraying into the intake manifold as it screamed through the gears is epic!
The first footage is from Imola. Button in his BAR-Honda on his maiden pole while Schumi had a bit clumsy first few turns. He almost pushed Montoya out at Tosa (0:34). Anyway, it's amazing how aggressive and twitchy these cars feel compared to contemporary V6s, even though they had more electronics allowed than today's cars. Full time flat out.
Here again 3 months after Nijigasaki High School Idol Club NEXT SKY SEASON 3 OVA. F2004 is still the TRULY best F1 car ever built. Even me, Setsuna Yuki, Coco Hayashi (Setsuna new CV), Tomori Kusunoki (Makima), and ShioPomu (Ayumu & Shioriko) all loved the F2004!

Back in the days of this video, there was much more freedom for constructors to design their own things. Now everything has to follow exact dimensions, exact fuel amounts, all the same wheels, same same same everything with minor differences in power packs.
Did you see the 2017 regulations? Wider cars, monaco is either gonna be a crashfest or a boring ass race because nobody is gonna overtake with 40cm of extra car between them on such small roads..

There was not much freedom back then either, for the exact same reasons. The 2004 regulations themselves were butchered to hell. Ridiculous quali formats, stupid fuel regulations, crappy tyre rules were present even back then. Consider how Michelin was castrated by the rule makers in mid 2003, and did not recover till 2005.
Wider cars? The 80s cars were even wider, that was not issue.
