I went to Silverstone for the first time back in 1995 to have a look at F1 . I was totally blown away by the cars and followed F1 with a passion until the V10 era finished in 2005 . V8 came along in 2006 and I new then for me this was the end of my passion for F1 with the loss of those fantastic V10 sounding engines. I saw the hybrid cars last year at Silverstone and went home early! I can still smell the race fuel and hear that booming screaming sound in my mind.

@westbender 820 I mean, F1 has always be relevant to road cars, I get you point but technology and times move forward, just like you want V10 era others want V16 era from the 60's and the new fans and specially the newer generations enjoy the new F1

His 2001 renault is a bizarre beast. 110 degree v-angle engine provide very low center of gravity, giving it a huge advantage on high speed corners, while providing less overall power output than other competing engine. Thus lesser acceleration.
In tracks with plenty high speed corners such as spa and old hockenheim, they compete against the likes of mclaren and ferrari on track, however on most other track where slow corners forcing the need of lengthy acceleration on exit, they compete against arrows and minardi...

I've known these engine I heard if them... Too bad I didn't see them racing.... All of those years I knew F1 was a thing but I never got to see it in television because I didn't know if they've shown it in the states or not, until I realized in 2010 they brodcast it in the morning mostly then I got the schedule down. And I do remember the insane 2012 season, but I really missed alot did I? And I wish I saw the V10 racing.

The engine tone changes drastically at high rpms also you don't hear much of low pitch bc of the TV cam sound gather ability and positioning. Best way to hear full range(but external) is to watch engine test from garages

Never. car racing is a set of things. you can not put technology and money without taking into account the public's emotion. if not return the old engines and the real difficulty of driving the car to F1 ends in 5 years.
